HDR Support for Netflix on Global/EEA Version? - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers
I will be buying this phone soon. But I can't decide between this and MI 9T pro. i want this over 9T pro as this has IR remote which is needed for me.
Can someone please post a screenshot of netflix app having HDR icon with support for this phone. I know K20 pro has support for HDR on netflix as a xiaomi employee posted it on twitter, but I can't find any info of same for MI 9

Unfortunately not a single Xiaomi device is supported. Source.
Also, the IR functionality of the Mi9 is overrated, you can only use applications with databases as you cannot
'teach' IR codes by using existing remotes.
Edit: I believe the Mi9 has an HDR10 display, and the Mi9T has an HDR display.

Actually, Netflix doesnt support HDR10 on Xiaomi Mi 9 (Source: https://c.mi.com/thread-2403039-1-0.html)
I don't have Mi9T/K2O Pro, but it seems it is not officially supported even there. (Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/themes/netflix-fhd-k20-pro-t3964716)

I think you can actually create your own IR codes with third apps on the Play Store, I've found one that can do it, you can change frequency, hex codes etc..

Care to share how you get specific HEX codes if you can't use your device to read them from your remotes?
Because the databases some apps use aren't very helpful either, so no use extracting from there..
What is the app called?

Thanks, I'll look into it!
Edit: Seems like a nice app, but 10 euro's to remove ads is not worth tossing my remotes.

The app is called IR Remote Creator, and you can find HEX codes on some websites, some of them contains more codes than apps databases

Xiaomi is a Chinese company and more focused on its Chinese market. For the global version of the firmware they do not come out often, and innovations are introduced for a very long time or never at all. Xiaomi is constantly releasing more and more new smartphones and at some point will not be able to support them normaly. And now you can see it.
Have anyone success in streaming HD and HDR contents on Netflix for K20 pro?
Netflix stated on their site that the phone is supported but the app refused to believe that.
I'm on stock china miui 11 Android 10, bootloader Locked, no Root.

[SOLVED]is this device L1 certified?
[SOLVED]Can it play Netflix on HD? I know it has an HDR display and all but none of the previous Xiaomi phones are L1 certified (DRM).
That's what I would like to know too. It's literally stopping me from buying the Mi8 right now. I use Netflix a lot, and I'd like to watch it in HD. My other phone, Honor 8 Pro is not Widevine L1 certified and Netflix looks like crap in 480p. It would make sense if it had the L1 certificate, since it has a HDR10 display and Netflix is one of the few apps that provides HDR content. If my memory serves me right, the OnePlus 5T did not have the L1 certificate and it caused a lot of anger in their customers. I think they implemented it in the OnePlus 6, I could be wrong though.

Click to expand... Click to collapse You're right. My Axon 7 is L3 also. I try searching on websites like Gsmarena but even they don't provide this information. I know there's an app to check DRM but I don't wanna buy the phone and then find out lol Yes 5t was L3 and the commotion from the community forced the company to offer an update with L1 certificate but people needed to send their phone back through mail because that kind of an update needs a special certified computer. OnePlus 6 is L1 certified out of the box but it's still not listed on Netflix as HD compatible. I guess Netflix themselves need to support each phone for true HD content.

Click to collapse I don't know where you're going with this but if it is advertised as hdr10 I'm sure there must be some truth to it. Anyway, Netflix has officially listed over 10 devices as HDR compatible and only the Galaxy note 8 is 1000 nits. Maybe the rest of the devices aren't as good as the note 8 but it's better than nothing :good:

Can the Updated Camera Software for the Mi 9 Pro 5G Be Used With These Phones?
Xiaomi mentioned yesterday in their launch of the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G that they worked extensively to rework the camera algorithms to improve the camera performance, and that phone has the same cameras as these phones. I wonder if we'll be able to get that updated camera app for this phone either as a direct update through our phones or if there's somewhere we can get it outside of that. I'd like to try it. Seems like it would work straight up. Any improvements are gladly welcomed.

Slow Motion record not working.
Hi, on my k20 pro slow motion video recording is not working for 120/240 fps both on 720/1080p. But it works flawlessly when recording at 960fps. Its a brand new phone purchased 2 days ago. What can be the possible reason for this ?

Hey, i've looked through the internet and haven't found it. I use my Redmi Note 9 Pro with Lineage, and i'm super happy! But i really miss the camera app from Xiaomi Redmi. So i'm asking: Can anyone upload the apk of the original camera apk from xiaomi/redmi for the note 9? Cause with all camera apks i use, they all use just one of my four cameras. Thanks.
