Huawei Mate 30 Pro: no Europe, only available in China - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Sad news guys, FoneTech is thrustworthy source https://bit.ly/2k7jNBE

China first like always

Sounds unlikely. Why would they launch it in Munich if it isn't released in Europe?

Doubt it. As someone else here said, why release a China-only phone in Germany?

New Zealand also has mate 30 pro
Sent from my AL10

Lets see in 6 months after the release...if things have not evolved I may look into another brand. Untill then I keep reading and following the Google/Huawei/Trumph story on the 30Pro.

My opinion, this time round, Mate 30 Pro will depend on the camera quality badly, if the camera and video recording on the Mate 30 Pro is equal or outstanding than iPhone 11, Huawei stand a chance to survive with AOSP.

when will xiaomi mi5 pro be released?

The title says it all is there a specific date
in china mi5 pro is releasing on 6th april
And even then it will be limited release.
Thats the same day as the Huawei P9. Must be tactical.
I'm not sure if I like or think the Xiaomi tactic is of any good. Recently, I've read numerous articles about disappointing sales for their cellphones., and I can understand that. Lets take Redmi Note 3 as an example. Great phone and great value for money. They release it, and just a few weeks after they release the Pro version for more or less the same price, but now with superior CPU and expansion slot. As far as I know the Pro version wasn't communicated prior to the release of the standard version. Releasing the Mi5 in small chunks beginning at the entry version in one color doesn't add up to me. Beginning at the flagship would in my opining boost more hype around the phone and would probably convince more people to grab the flagship rather than the entry.

I guess Xiaomi Mi5 Pro will be sold out in 30 seconds
I thought Oneplus were bad for trying to get a phone but these lot are worse.

Do you regret buying Mate 10 now that the P20 is about to be launched with triple cam

So I know technology is advancing and it has been said that as soon as you buy one piece of tech it's already out of date.
On March 27th, Huawei will announce the new P20 phone. It supposedly has triple cameras, 40mpxl resolution, 5 x zoom, better AI and possibly full screen display. So do you feel like you rushed into buying your Mate 10 and now you wish you waited for the P20? Sounds like an impressive phone.
I personally paid £700 for my 128gb Mate 10. The most I have ever spent on a phone in my entire life and don't intend to spend that much again. I am wondering if I rushed too soon. But how long is one expected to wait? ?

No regrets with mate 10 (not pro) p series is equivalent to galaxy s series and mate is equivalent to note series.
No loving my mate 10 pro

if im honest mate 10 pro looks gorges and p20 probably wont be so good looking...and those 3 cameras i really dont care about since this is my first phone with more then one main camera..pictures are way better then my xperias that i had before so im quite happy with the device.
My Mate 10 (non Pro) is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow..2/12/18. No regrets! Of course this is assuming that the phone works well on T-Mobile with no glaring bugs/flaws! I hardly ever take pictures unless on vacation so I think the whole camera hoopla is way overblown anyway. The Mate 10 ticks all my boxes and then some. Actually I would prefer a single lens camera but, this phone has all the other things I want. In fact it's getting harder and harder to find the phone I want, so I'm hoping the Mate 10 works out to be the great phone I hope it is and I plan to hang on to this one for quite some time.
Bought my mate 10 pro today knowing the p11/20 will be released soon. It will be significantly more expensive and I don't think the advances will be significant. So no regrets
I bought mine on January at 799€. At first i was excited having a late 2017 flagship thinking it's 10nm kirin 970 was cutting-edge technology and the AI NPU was woooaaw! I thought i'ld be futureproof for at least 2-3 years. Then boom the news came about the new Exynos and SD 845 supporting hdr10 capture, higher cpu/gpu frequencies, higher framerate encode/decode 4k 60fps+ and more. I really feel that i wasted my money on a late 2017 SoC that cant even shoot at 60fps 4k. Not to mention i thought the NPU would be more usefull.. Maybe adding more scenes via updates that its camera can recognise? or huawei's own assistant on the phone? Nothing.. Just stability after stabilty updates.
I think i'll be selling it soon before it depreciates hard. Maybe around 700 so i can get a device with a SoC that packs more futureproof features.
There will be no soc or device that will be future proof. The technology goes so fast that there will be a faster/better one every time...
I am very happy with my mate 10... ?

You might be happy with the next Pixel phone but you'll be waiting till fall and then buyers remorse will kick in again next spring or don't wait and buy an S9 and you'll still be envious. That's just how tech works!
Talk about bloatware. I'm glad Huawei doesn't have an assistant. Will Samsung even have an AI chip with the S9? I know competition is good and all but there are more important problems to tackle like a unified RCS messenger!
Never. Because I got the Pro for 330$

I like Mate 10 Pro due to ui-performance. Samsung just have too much bloatware. Yes with root it can be removed but when it comes to warranty, the samsung employe will tell you: nope my friend warranty void knox 0x1 get the hell out of here while htc, huawei or even sony exchanges phones with unlocked bootloader and root. (sony exchanged my brothers phone even with unlocked bootloader and root. Plus they unlocked the sim network ) higher cpu frequencies does not mean higher performance. Its just about architecture, its about optimization. Radeon RX 480 with low gpu frequencies beats GTX 1060 in vulkan games example. iPhones iOS is very optimised for their phones no stutter etc. I remember they day that I had Galaxy S4 since the release. The UI was stuttering due to touchwiz not optimized. But what I regret buying Mate 10 pro is: Its extrem easy brickable. Just edit build.prop and boom, you have bootloop and FRP locked ---> flashing in fastboot not working anymore. But as I know how to unbrick it I continued But yeah, dolby atmos oreo and v4a is not working on Mate 10 Pro after so many attempts.
No.
Because i knew from the start when P20 will be released (March is the offical release but likely first week June it will take to release in international market except for USA. And by July the Honor 10 will be unveiled). I also know from past experience that the upgrade between P series and Mate series will not be major. I also expect to buy the P series for my wife instead. lol.
No, I love my Mate 10 pro Midnight blue because I think P20 will look like a iphone X to much with the notch!
As the pixel proves, more camera lenses doesn't mean a better picture, and I would say that, apart from design it will be the only changes....
No, P20 is disappointing from the current leaks. And I don't care much about triple lens, you will not be using it very often.

Works great! Take it from a trucker who's all over the country
yes is do a bit. not because the p20 is going to be so much better. because there is already declining support on the mate 10 pro. so project treble didn't bring us anything yet. android 8.1 only for the p20, although it's out for months.
it's not tragic, but at least it's a bit shady and not putting a good light on the future of support.

Is P20 Pro the better device of huawei?

I mean, today i saw an article talking about the new Mate 20 Pro and i want to know about that... "Mate" is the budget version of the huawei's devices? Knowing that Mate 20 Pro is the new device, i know that it can be better, but, if one day they release another P30 Pro, maybe, it will be better since mate is a budget version?
The real question is... What is the "rank"? Honor > Mate > P20 Pro?
see this article - https://pandaily.com/huawei-explains-the-difference-between-the-p-and-mate-series/
They have both become Huawei premium models, being released with a gap of about 6 months. The new Mate model will be better than P20 and the bext P phone will most likely have some features not found in the Mate 20....

May giving Huawei a chance. Mind consider buying Mate 10 pro.

After the issues with Huawei breaking and killing my warranty (also my p9 lite), i wanted to buy Oneplus 5T. However , i've seen this Mate 10 pro with decent specs and good features and it was 50$ more than Oneplus 5T.
I only want a phone for battery camera and software. Should i risk my money (and sanity with the warranty) for this device or should i stick with Oneplus 5T?

The ROMS for the Mate 10 pro aren't perfect. If you want to run AOSP or something closer to it like near stock android, the one plus 5T is the stable option. If you are okay with the EMUI then the Mate 10 pro has better hardware IMO. If you like to tinker with less than perfect ROMS, then I'd go with the Mate 10 Pro but I'm sure the one plus 5T has more ROM development.
That's my two cents.

Huawei killed bootloader unlock. I can go for oneplus5T but it has 64 gb while.mate 10 pro has 125gb. Again skeptical for Huawei because i don't want to get headaches in the long run about the warranty.

If you're lucky you get a device on low enough firmware to downgrade and use DC/HCU to get unlock code. If not you will have to pay $30 or $55 depending on what site you chose.
I would rather get the OnePlus if you want root/custom roms.
What warranty issues did you have with p9?

Unlock. Downgrade is free IF possible. For example:
On BLA-L29C432B142 you can use DC. On B145 it doesn't work but can be downgraded using service firmware. B146 or higher can not be downgraded past B146. Build is not the same on every cust, so if you are on C636 the build where DC works is different. But generally it's May patch firmware.
Paid expensive unlock is done by FH and ministryofsolutions. If you have rebranded using FH before you can not use their service (FH Rebrand changes your imei in fastboot).

My phone has 3 issues with EMUI 5 updates (when it launched for the first time). I made a post about it on my account. I just want a long run phone. Do you think this is worth the money or 5T is better?
Well? Should i waste my time with Huawei again or move on with Oneplus/ google pixel 1?
Actually the Mate 10 pro is an excellent device.. But considering the possibilities of an one plus 5 or 6, I'd not go with Huawei anymore.
Same. Mate 10 pro has so many great features but it is not a long run device. I can see myself changing it in 2 years after Huawei will kill my phone like their attempt with my P9 lite. Oneplus 5T is a great deal for me but the camera is not as impressive like on Mate 10 pro and only has 64gb. The fast charging is pretty neat on 5T, but the long lasting battery on Mate 10 pro is very nice for me too.
Idk which to pick. I can go for 5T for the long run (which may keep me more than 4 years due to development), but we will see what will happen during christmas. Either way, i have the google pixel pinned on my shopping list. If Oneplus 5T 128gb gets cheaper, then i will go for 5T.
Also Mate 10 pro doesn't have the bootloader unlocked, thus the phone aging from outdated software.
Ok so looks like Oneplus isn't trustable anymore. I've seen many posts about security issues and that pushed me away from the company.
Ok Huawei, you won... Buying mate 10 pro

Oh that's an interesting take on the situation, I was going to recommend the mate 10 pro anyway but for different reasons.
I came from an OP3, battery life of the mate 10 pro is a different league, software, bar a few foibles, is ok. Although there's still issues with android auto compatibility and as has been mentioned custom ROM scene is impacted by lack of bootloader unlock. With hindsight I'm still happy I made the right choice, hopefully when I'm due an upgrade other OEMs will have decided to fit usable batteries.

I could had gone for oneplus 5T but i don't want to go change my rom just when i purchase it. Huawei killed my nerves with the warranty. So you got your mate 10 pro too?
I had the Essential PH-1 and the Mate 10 Pro. I sold the Essential PH-1 even though it already had full Pie on it. The screen of the Mate 10 Pro is a beauty and it's fast and snappy at anything I throw at it. However, as others have said, if you want to get to Pie quicker or you like to tinker with your phone and use a ROM, you are pretty much out of luck. If you are OK with the latest security updates on Oreo and the thought that you "maybe" getting Pie then it's an excellent phone. If I had the chance to buy the Mate Pro again I would go for the International version even without warranty. I do want the face-unlock and other features that the US version hasn't received and might not receive.
It's a tough decision. I might look at the latest One Plus 6 or the Mate 20 when it comes online. But the price difference is too large and I want a great phone now - so I am quite happy with the Mate 10 Pro.

The only phone i can buy is the international.
Again. Oneplus 5T is a great phone but the software has terrible security and privacy (by the looks of it.)
Mate 10 has solid and flagship features but support is as bad as the long term software updates.
Again, i can go for Oneplus 5T but i don't want huge headaches changing roms. Besides, Google implemented whatever "limitation" that will not make your phone trustable unless yadda yadda.
Google pixel was a good phone but it's a 2016 device and the pixel experience will pretty much be gone.
The only options are oneplus 5T and Mate 10 pro. Oneplus 5T with good specs and software but bad privacy. Again, i can buy it but i don't want to change the software just when it was fresh bought.
Mate 10 pro has many features and great design. Also the pc mode is very very cool and it does not need a dock. Also has always on display, which Oneplus 5T has only by rooting it (unless Oneplus implements it). But, as we know, Huawei has terrible software support and warranty as well (warranty being my case).
In my opinion, i think Mate 10 pro is a better value for the simple fact that has water resistance, pixel-like camera, 4k battery and other hidden features, but i have to send my cousin to buy it so HUAWEI won't add anything sketchy in it :laugh::laugh:.
Oneplus 5T is a mate 10 pro in a cheaper form. Great specs, great build, great battery and great charging. But the software raises your anxiety with these "privacy and security" issues. A custom ROM solves the issue (as i said earlier).
I want to hear your opinions about these 2 devices. I want to buy a phone for the long run. This is my opinion. Sorry that the post feels weird, but i am always skeptical of buying new phones, especially "flagships"

I really am surprised at the security concerns with OOS, I'm still active on the OnePlus community forums and haven't seen any recent security scares, the android patches are September and everything else seems OK.
The big advantage that led me to choose the Huawei is the battery. OnePlus are still fitting 3400mah batteries ,which too my mind are too small, clever software tweaks can compensate, but those same tweaks can make the mate 10 pro even better.

Actually about the security and privacy of Oneplus's OOS is the fact that it can collect all your activity through an app that gets all your logs and sends them to Oneplus. Again, skeptical with both the devices. I am sorry for my "temper" between these 2 devices, but , again, i am concern about my purchase as i want a phone to last me more than 3 years (at least)

I think most modern phones will last more than 3 years on the hardware side, judging by the support I've received so far for the Mate 10 pro, I'm skeptical that software support will last 2 years let alone 3. OnePlus are much more supportive of the development community so custom support is much better.
A word of caution though, both devices are 2017 devices a full two years official support will take them to 2019 you are after support for 3 years, from now that takes you to 2021, that is well outside the official support window of even the best devices.

Official confirmation on Honor Play not getting EMUI 10

https://twitter.com/HiHonorIndia/status/1184786687135760389
Now it is officially confirmed that we wont get Android Q... Cheers!
It was a mistake buying Honor Play. My previous phone was Honor 5x. It launched with Lollipop in 2016 and was promised '2 years update'. The updates were discontinued after barely 8 months after and I got stuck with Marshmallow. Luckily I unlocked my phone and was able to use custom ROMs to mitigate the problem.
I decided to give Honor a second chance, despite all the controversies. The Honor Play was being offered at a good value after the price drop. It's probably one of the worst decisions made. Obviously performance is there, but bootloader was locked. Still I would live with that. And now this! Wow! Phones with the same chipset (P20) and cheaper price (8X) are getting the update and we are not!
Learned my lesson the hard way. Never ever buying any Honor or Huawei again, and will avoid Chinese companies as much as possible.
I don't buy this story one bit, as it was a similar case with my Galaxy S6 Edge receiving an Oreo update which it never did. And if the inferior 8X can handle the latest software, why can't the Play do the same? It's beyond me really (in case, it's true).

This has become basically a scam.
If they relent and push update like they did for Honor 7x I'll be okay. But I'm never ever buying Honor products again.
SO its better to have the latest OS that could cripple the phone as specs not good enough (so they say), then having a older OS on and fast etc phone ?
I love updates and new features, but not if im going to be frustrated with the phone lagging or harder to use
I know what I would prefer, plus it not like Pie is some old old software and suddenly apps wont support it
I'm so done with Huawei.
Finger crossed. I bought two Honor play phones and View 20 and later gave out one Honor play to a friend and Honor View 20 to a girl friend. This source that claims 'low hardware' as the reason for Honor Play not receiving Android 10 is not authoritative to me.
My believe is that Android 10 will come later next year as floated online initially.

The source is trustable. That is the official Honor India page. And they have given this reply to multiple tweets.
The people in Honor support chat has said this as well. Obviously this claim of theirs is a bogus claim but the chance of us getting the update is very dim. There is a chance that regions other than India would get the update but this is very unlikely because the largest market for the phone was India.
It's honor india. They done the same thing with other honor phones too.
Still, after hearing that, i might stop getting a huawei phone and i'm sorry for you all that you got this underwhelming news

According to Huawei uk on Twitter the final list hasn't been made so still a glimmer of hope. https://twitter.com/HuaweiMobileUK/status/1186233485800943617?s=20
Maybe honor India jumped the gun wouldn't be the first time.

I thought as much. The most questionable part of the India's Honor tweet is the low hardware reference on Honor Play when compared to 8X that would receive Android 10. It doesn't make sense to me.

In response to an email honor UK said this.
In response to your inquiry, kindly note that the Honor Play is not yet scheduled to receive the Android 10 / EMUI 10 upgrade. So far, the only Honor models confirmed to receive the update are Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro and Honor View 20.
Of course, we are constantly testing the update on other models as well, so there is a possibility that the Honor Play will receive the upgrade in the future. Therefore, we invite you to keep an eye on our official website and social media platforms for any official announcements.
It's ok, the different parts of the company are confused, or there's no control over what their staff post. Best to be sure and only get Android One or Pixel phones in future if you're concerned about updates as Huawei,Honor,Moto etc etc just launch so many phones there's no way they are going to support all of them. It's disappointing when you get a phone and find 14 months in it's abandoned but there you go. You live and learn. No more Huawei/Honor phones for me. There are a million Android phones out there and they're all pretty much the same hardware wise as far as I'm concerned - it's the software that's important. If Google are going to spend loads adding AR or whatever but I'm not going to be able to use it because some dodgy Chinese company can't get its **** together then I'm not interested.
I believe that Honor Play will get Emui 10. Let's just wait and see. All the Kirn 970 devices will get it. Huawei said that there would be more than 35 models getting EMUI 10. But there are only 33 models in the list. Moreover, according to the circled words, more models are on their way so this is not the final list. In addition, Honor Note 10 is not in the list either.

I hope so. Honor Play is just too good in its category to let go not updated - when it has a capable hardware.
As i know Honor uk already said that the Update comes in February 2020?!
It may not get EMUI 10 but maybe it will get android 10? ???
Seems like we gonna get it
