Greetings to all,
I have a Galaxy S GT-I9000 which I bought last year.
I had no problem flashing any firmware with odin and every flash I made was successful.
I never had an external_sd card ever since I bought the phone.
Now my problem started when a couple of months ago I flashed ICS 4.03 from CWM from
an external_sd card.
As strange as it may sound, all apps and media files where installed on the external_sd
card. I found out about this after the phone booted up successfully and by checking the contents
of both the internal_sd & the external_sd cards. I wasnt bothered by this as long as the phone
boots up normaly and storages mount.
Now I wanted to flash XXJW4, I did everything by the book. (i.e factory reset, clear cache, clear delvik)
and flashed successfully.
The phone entered into an endless bootloop.
Taking out external_sd card and booting to recovery 3e results in /sdcard & /data mounting problems
Inserting external_sd card and booting to recovery 3e produces no mounting problems. in fact I can
clear cache and factory reset.
So my guess is that: the phone identifies the external_sd card as internal_sd and mounts it to search
for booting parameters but fails to find it, because the card is formatted and has no os.
Creating three partitions for fat32, ext2 or ext3 or ext4 and a linux-swap and flashing any firmware results
in the phone booting up normally with out any problems.
My question is: how is it possible to change where the phone looks up for boot sectors (If I may use windows terms )
According to this wonderful post h t t p : / / python . ca / nas / log /201204 /by Neil Schemenauer's Web Log
the phone internally has two built in flash memory devices:
- NAND device (8 or 16GB)
- Flash memory for (BML or MTD schemes) used by the ROM
Now the problem might have been created by the ROM's flash memory, it ignore the NAND device
and tries to boot up from the extended memory (external sd) which results in a boot loop if it doesnt
find the OS that's looking for (in our case Android).
ANY ONE PLEASE give me any idea or hypothesis if you like, as to how to go around this problem.
A complete boot up process for the device would be very help full. I understand most Galaxy I9000 phones
are having these problems.... Lets SOLVE THIS
So I'm I the only one having this problem...... STRANGE.!!!!
One week after my first post,... No one had dared to post any idea.
It seems sda developers rarely visit the Q & A.
Any ways I managed to solve the problem, it was a faulty jumper
on the main board.

I might have a similar issue....some application settings/data etc are being installed on the external card and the "external SD" folder leads to nothing (no files there - while using the emmc folder in the root directory does access the external card. So, it appears the system is messed up (but still working).
Unfortunately, I can't help you solving your problems but I found out that flashing some old stock rom (GingerBread 2.3.6 JW4 or JW7) brings things back to normal - at this stage I'm experimenting with new custom roms and as long as my external card is accessible I'm not bothered if the messed up folders....still, a neat solution would be very much appreciated.
Thank you xelaris for your post,....
In my previous post I had mentioned flashing JW4 and that didn't work.
Installing the ROM on the external_sd card with at least two partitions one ext2 or ext3 or ext4 (for data) and vfat or fat32(for usb storage)
most certainly work. But performance will be reduced dramatically as the external sd requires more time for read/write operations.
Hi, today i am going to tell a solution to a very weird problem experienced by many s3 mini users of 0 bytes and non-formatable internal memory storage mostly it can be done by repartition with pit but some times the problem does'nt resolves it is due to corrupted efs
Some symptoms:
Factory mode
Yellow text appearing again and again including phone PDA,CSC,IMEI and other things
Not registerd on network and sim not working
Unable to install any app from market or directly apk
When boot into recovery a statement appears "invalid argument unable to mount /efs'
When phone attached to pc the internal memory shows -108957575 like
Efs backup is attached
there is no need to be worry it is due to corrupted, formated efs to get rid you need to flash efs by heimdall or you can use efs professional tool (google it) this tool is very helpfull to backup and restore efs and twrp recovery can also be used these methods will work if you have backup of efs
But when if you don'nt have the backup send it to any phone repair service they will restore efs and your origional phone imei and if you have warranty then send to samsung.MOSTLY THIS PROBLEM IS DUE TO MBR,GPT WRONG FLASH.I MY SELF FACED AND RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM.
Please press thanks button if it helped you.
hi Mr, where is attached efs file??? thanks!!!
send using s iii mini
do wipe include internal storage trough TWRP or CWM
I don't have a backup so what do I do, besides taking to a phone repair service ?
I finally got my att note 3 working again with pre-rooted original firmware after getting it stuck in a bootloop when trying to switch Roms...I have safestrap recovery installed and hand had to reinstall the stock to Rom slot 1 be the stock slot is showing a system size of 0mb..All is working well except that now I'm showing 31.5 gb of system memory out of 32gb used, and can't mount system or systemorig errors still. How can I fix this and reclaim my internal space? I'm afraid to mess with it until I have help! I don't have access to a windows pc, and can't quite figure heimdall out from linux. Could someone give me a step by step?
Hello dear xda users!
I was researching the qualcomm unbricking forums and suddenly found a post that said the PBL(primary bootloader) can switch the boot source to sdcard in case of emmc failure.
That means we can dump an emmc from a working phone to a sdcard and boot of it.
Unfortunately i don't have an appropriate dump for my phone version, but i wanted to see if the phone actually changes it's behaviour with a sdcard with an emmc on it.
I have a xt1063 8gb version. I found a 16gb img dump of a xt1068 and cloned it onto my sdcard using HDD raw copy tool.
Usually my phone shows up in the qhdsub bulk mode, but when i insert the sdcard and force reboot it(by pressing the power button for ~30sec) it doesn't . Instead it connects and disconnects the device without showing anything in the device manager.(i assume that's because the dump fails the hash check, and the phone just repeats the cycle).
So i need someone to dump an XT1063 8gb using this guide .
Thanks in advance!
