I am looking for a good 7zip mobile extractor... I have tried a couple different versions now, and they are not very friendly with my phone to say the least. I did a search, and downloaded the official one, and then a couple others, but that just reset my device everytime I start running it. I have tried 2 versions of pocket RAR as well, as one of the threads that came up in the search said it could handle it, which when I use it to extract it says no files found, I knew it would from previous use and using my home computer to extract 7zip instead of my phone.
I really hope one of you all has a tried a true version that is a .cab... I am at work and can't download anything on my computer.
Never mind, after doing some more searches, it looks like this is a dead horse I am trying to beat, just not enough free memory to extract a ROM image with the available 7zip program.... Grrrr! All well, I guess I will just have to wait unitl I get home to flash this beast from Anryl.

I don't dowload large files on my device because I'm resticted on my data usage so I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but between pocketrar, WMtorrent and the zip extract feature on Total Commander can't you work around all downloads that way?
Can you not download on your phone and then bluetooth or sync to your PC to use 7-zip if you need to??
Just throwing my ideas out there....
Good luck

I guess that i am confused as well. I know that Pocketrar allows you to select where you want to unpack your files and I believe that TC does the same. So with either one of these apps you should be able to download the file to your SD and then unpack to your SD card as well. You may want to consider moving to one of these apps to do what you are wanting do, which I am assuming is flashing a rom from your SD card?
anyone has youtube downloader apk.

The file i downloaded was .apk
But i just dont know what to do with it...
sorry, let me clearify... the file you download is called "com.isaacwaller.youtubedownloader.apk.jar"... this does no good on the phone to install so i decompressed it so now its "com.isaacwaller.youtubedownloader.apk"... yet this is a folder now and not a file.apk.... so putting it on the sd and using an app installer doesnt do much when its a folder with the name only saying .apk... i need a file.apk so i can use an app installer, right? or am i way off? Think maybe because i use a mac has anything to do with it??? or does it need to be a dev phone? my phone isnt "unlocked," and im running rc33
but to answer your question Rescue7 if you do have a the file "com.isaacwaller.youtubedownloader.apk" and not a folder like i have... all you need to do is put it onto your sd card, then run an app installer. if you use linda file manager it will give you an option... if not use the application installer that you can download via the market

Hmm well I'm using a PC. And I don't have a dev phone, or an unlocked phone. Just a regular G1. Well why dont u just give it a try? maybe it'll work??
JLO: you're either going to have to download it using firefox or use right click + save as in safari, otherwise osx think's a zip folder and tries to decompress it as it downloads, which results in the .jar file.
Here is your application
GO TO THIS WEBSITE AND IT IS THERE. AND TELL OTHER PEOPLE CAUSE I WANT TO SHARE THIS APP WITH OTHERS CAUSE IT IS THAT GOOD.
http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5415
IN ORDER TO PUT IT ON YOUR PHONE YOU WILL NEED TO USE APPMANAGER WHICH IS FREE FROM THE ANDROID MARKET.
http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5417
TRY IT OUT AND BE SURE TO SPREAD THE NEWS THAT IT IS FREE FOR DOWNLOAD AT THE FIRST LINK FOR ANYBODY WHO WANTS THE PROGRAM.
solution
just go to keepvid.com from your phone to download youtube videos onto your phone from your phone.
simply just go to the video you want to download on the browser then hit menu then go to url the url is now highlighted on ur phone copy it by using (hold down menu button then press C on your keyboard) not the big menu button on the outside of the phone the button next to the Z key on the keyboard then paste the link to keepvid.com using (menu then V) for paste then download the mp4 walla use a video player to play the video u just got from youtube

I just thought I'd point out that you don't have to use firefox or save as.
Just delete the jar off the end of the filename. It does this when downloading themes also. So far, I haven't had any issues just deleting the .jar.

Pulled from Marketplace. The developer still offers it for download here:
http://www.siriusapplications.com/ytd/
Ooops... seems it isn't available for DL on the website either. It was a free app, so I can just post my backed up apk file in here when I get home tonight.

Love this app thank you so much!!!
anyone know where I can download this app, i found it on the Androbin_R_ ROM.
Have you tried taking it from the ROM itself? Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Just checked market, there is one called Custom Car Home,... any good?
Apparently Froyo has it built in,... try extarcting it from a Froyo ROM aswel,... Worth trying enit?

Thanks for taking the time to reply...
it is, but I am just not technically able enough to take it from the ROM,, i would not know where to start.....
Download the Rom you want.
Extract it on pc.
Navigate to system/app/
Copy the apk you want to your sdcard. I think it could be called carhome.apk.
Having the apk on your SD.
Open it with e.g. Linda file manager.
If it works with this Rom it installs fine.
Another way is using adb.
But that doesn't differ in what you get.

Don't appologize for asking questions-we all need answers to one thing or another
The first thing you want to do is go to the android market and search for Rom Manager. You already have this installed if you are running CM7, but you need to update it to the newest version.
Then, Just open your app drawer and open up Rom Manager. When it opens, the very top line says "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery". Tap on that, choose Nook Color, and it will update to the newest version 3.2.0.1.
Hope this Helps!
What's the best way to update recovery on sdcard? Mod manager only updates the internal flash..

I downloaded an updated version located HERE and extracted the files and attached them for you. Just download and unzip the files to your current CWM SD card.

Ok, thanks! So you can indeed copy the files as-is.. with Paleolithic dos 3.2 origin, I tend to expect you need to use special app to copy the system files. In any case, I've installed the boot menu on SD card so by defaults I boot internal flash. No need to lose sanity removing the easy-to-lose usd card.. I can also start the recovery from internal flash..

Yes, I have updated a couple times by just transferring the updated files onto my bootable CWM card. I have done a number of back-ups and restores without a problem. The files are self-contained file systems, so not much damage from a simple transferring of them. If you want to install a special app for windows to be able to update the SD card in the future, then I would download this very handy tool, ImDisk, it will allow windows to mount the updated img file and extract the files from it.
Ok, so i have my nexus 7 rooted and everything. I'm trying to flash a new ROM, but everything i download i cant find in Cwm to flash. Any reasons why this is happening? Normally they show up in my downloads.

/android/data/ is too far down the file system, thats in your storage. go up a level. its the main fs of the device. /data/media/ is on the same level as /system/.

i dont use cwm, i use twrp. you can chose and flash out of any filesystem. i dont see cwm not being able to do that, its part of any basic recovery. there has to be a way for you to navigate the filesystem, go up and down levels.
When you choose flash zip from SD card you should see the list of folders on the SD. The top folder should be '0' choose that and you will see your folders again. Choose downloads. It has to do with multiuser on JB.
