How to replace default/predefined contact picture - Huawei Mate 9 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Is it possible to replace the predefined landscape picture for contacts (EMUI 9.0.1) with something else, or just to remove it.
I don't like that landscspe (colour, resolution) and would prefer a simple, plain colour background, but cannot go through hundreds of contacts to change the picture for one by one.
Phone is not rooted (waiting for BL code)
The whole Contacts (merging, displaying, etc) was much, much, much better in Nougat and Oreo than now in Pie - like several other things

HTC Sense: Can it be changed?

Searched (here and google) but couldn't find an answer. If it has already been posted, I apologise.
I just got my HTC Hero and I'm adjusting quite well from the change from WM6 to Android (used to have the HTC Touch Pro, aka the Raphael I think) but I was wondering whether HTC sense on the Hero interface can be changed (e.g. clock, colours) or if there are skins available, like there were for WM. Just to be clear, I know there are loads of apps out there (OpenHome, aHome etc) to change the normal interface, but they all seem to be focused on the Hero without the Sense interface. I want the Sense interface, but would like to change the analogue clock, the colours etc.
Thanks in advance!
No you can't really do that at the moment.
But there are several widgets for clock, you can change the background and the lock screen. Or you can pu any widget that you want instead of HTC's
haven't seen those either, not for Sense anyway, do you maybe have links/names of those apps for me? would really appreciate it! thanks!
Photo Clock is a good one. It has about 10 different faces, including 2 or 3 where you can choose a photo or your own pic as the base background for the clock. Just type clock into the market... All clock widgets for android can be used "for sense" - you just dump the HTC Clock widget and load one from the Android Widgets section. That goes for all android widgets.
I'm assuming you know there are 13 different clocks on the HTC Clock widget for Hero?

No, I didn't know that, I've only had it a couple of days and did look around on the phone for ways to change it, but I don't seem to be able to find it (I realise I'm sounding like a complete noob now, but oh well). The Photo Clock app sounds good as well, will have a look at that if (after someone has been so kind as to help me locate the different styles for the standard app) I don't like them.
Thanks for helping me out with this!
edit: I just found it! power of posting I guess It was under HTC-widget and I'd only been looking under Android-widget...Now I think about it, not too smart...
So you're sorted? Its not that obvious tho I have to say, as the options for screen widgets only come up when you choose them, so unless you dump one then reapply, you don't see them.
On all HTC widgets there's a little number (1/12) at the bottom saying how many options for views there are for that widget - some have loads, others only 1.
Also check out the SCENES - I only just got round to seeing those - they are like template arrangements of screen widgets that you can switch to and fro between, and also gives the option to save different custom arrangements.
I have one with links to all my porn and a photoframe with naked men that I have to quickly turn off and swap for the business one with the classy blue world wallpaper in case the hubby sees.... (kidding...)
They look seriously useful but I've not had a full mess with them yet. It was VERY simple to pop back to my own eclectic Scene set up tho

Changing Background for Xperia Panel 1

Hello! I have a quick question for anyone who is willing to help me out here..
I have already searched and found a topic on changing the default background for the sony ericsson panel 1, which states you have to replace the 10v and 10h files in the programfiles\panels\SonyEricssonPanel\images with other jpeg images.
Here's the thing: I tried and it did not work. I have backed-up my originals, took them out of that folder, and replaced them with my own jpeg files, same resolution as the originals, tried selecting another theme, tried changing panels, and tried to soft rest, and somehow, the panel still comes up with that same default background.. :-(
Please someone tell me what I'm doing wrong, very much appreciated!!
I'm just a newbie, but changing the background photo on panel 1 I just opened explorer, opened up my photos folder (it works on both internal and external memory, tested right now), marked the picture, chose "set as background", set opacity and voila I have horses running!
(white horses and white letters in the menus, so I changed to another theme from "settings - today" that gave black letters)
(my menus are Norwegian, so I'm guessing what they would be in English)
thanks for the reply,
I already tried that and it didn't work. The only place I see somewhat of the picture I chose was when I press the start menu. It's like a background for the start menu only and the panel background stays the same.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
google for pocketpc theme
get the tsk themes you like
put the tsk files on your ppc
cloose the theme in settings->today
using
"use this picture as the background" is not enough
colours for text and bars are defined in the themes
Ahh, thanks for the help but unfortunately no one understoon my question!!
I wanted to actually modify one of the existing panels. Panel 1 is not the normal today screen, it is the one that displays the clock and calendar and the quick function buttons.
I wanted to find out how to get that default color-laser looking background out and replace it with my own so that way i can still have the quick function icons on the bottom, but I already figured it out.
It seems you have to tap the weather information to get to the screen where you can change your background color, and that lets go of the cached background image after you've replaced the 10v and 10h files.

[REQUEST] Full screen caller!

Is there a way to have full screen caller like on symbian?
i want a big picture of my contact during a call!
thaks!
This could only be done if you never sync your contacts again.
I remember both Xenio and Wysie working on this but it is found that google sync resizes the images to 96x96 pixels meaning the picture becomes horribly stretched and distorted.
ok thanks but how i can enlarge the square of the contact picture?
theres a thread in development that modifies the phone.apk so you can full screen contact pictures, however the image will only be clear if you never sync your contacts with google sync.
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576310 and download the one that says fullscreen and push it to your phone.

Question mark character

Dear xda-community,
since I did a few things with my phone ( rooted, applied new font, lagfix ) I have a few problems with the display of text.
In some parts of the text, there are question marks in boxes.
Not like they replace real letters, but they are somehow appended to some text, for example for the menu entry of Weather and Toggle Widgets.
Any idea what this could be and how to fix it?
If you want screens or further details just tell me and i'll add it.
wbr RikuXan
Edit: By switching back to the default font, I figured out that it was the custom font. It was called Comfortaa as used here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752200
I used LauncherPro Plus with it and there were those question marks everywhere, maybe someone knows where this comes from, so I could make it work on my device.

[IDEA] Real Plain Text Theme/Launcher

No icons, no wallpaper, no images of any kind. I've seen themes that used images of text to get the aesthetic down, which is still cool, but it seems like there's room for a launcher with a super tiny footprint that also looks sweet. Of course, if I've missed it, and this already exists, I'd love to be corrected.
Icons: plain text but could be include the ascii round of characters, maybe even the full unicode set?
Folders: Like any other asciicon. You could add a smaller ascii symbol to the lower right/left hand corner to signify it was a folder not a program if you really wanted. You could create a folder with ascii art.
Wallpaper: ASCII art. Not a photo thereof, actual ASCII. Would need the ability to alter color and perhaps alpha to avoid confusion with foreground.
Widgets: text output only. Input fields would be reminiscent of a terminal input. Associated buttons would be dealt with a la asciicons, with ascii symbols.
Customizability: on par with ADW or LP.
I'd pay for that ^. Would anyone else? I realize these days with super phones, live wallpaper and 3d carosels are more sexy, but there are a lot of hacked devices running froyo that are still light on specs and plain text can have a nice sharp retro appeal. It seems like there's a potential market there for an enterprising developer.
Is there a launcher whose theme engine could produce a plain text only setup? Would the footprint be significantly reduced by such a theme?
What this lacks in popularity, it makes up for unanimity. 100% in favor. An enterprising developer could just charge me and that one other guy who likes the idea a fortune each and still turn a profit! Any takers?
One last New Year's bump.
Hi,
I'm currently learning Android programming and studying Launcher2 code. In near future I will be starting a launcher which will have a pseudo-graphic text mode (remember Turbo Pascal?) with minimalist (16x16?) icons, some simple widgets, notepad/folders (which will work like resizable and stackable windows), and a commandline mode (can be configured to mimic either DOS or Linux, but with some builtin shortcuts and functions for Android usage). It doesn't have a name yet. I will certainly announce it on xda when any usable version will be finished and tested on at least a few devices.

Sounds interesting, I look forward to it. Are you gearing the text mode to have a super small footprint, or is it more for nostalgia's sake?

Mainly for nostalgia's sake and "I just want it on my phone so badly and no one did it before" sake, though I know few people who could use it. I wouldn't release the project open source but it will probably free for ever. I won't include all dos/linux commands, of course (keep it simple and not bloated), and i will simplify/shortcut some things for android usage (like, running apps from CLI just by their name, not any going-in-depths-to-system-folders stuff), though I shouldn't spoil everything already lol. Also I still have a 2.3.7 device...
I've found lightning launcher and it's the lightest weight launcher I've found. My 528mhz dinosaur actually feels snappy again after I pared down the options to it's most minimal setup. What's more there are lots of customizations available even for devices that aren't ancient.
It's not plain text, but it is light.
I've been looking for a theme like this for a long time, never found one. It would be cool to have a phone without all the aesthetics. Black screen with only text , or very small symbols.
