Can't talk handsfree in car. - Razer Phone 2 Questions & Answers

So I got the phone and I'm trying to use the handfree Bluetooth in the car. I have connected the phone, and Spotify works flawlessly, but when I try to make a phone call it disconnects the car audio then goes to spraker/regular mode. I have tried to clear my Bluetooth app cache with no success. Do I have to sideload a new codec for the Bluetooth for it to stay connected to the car when making phone calls.
I'm running Pie 9, February 15th 2019 Update
Build number - P-mr1-rc003-rzr-190305.3110
I have searched but can't seem to find anything with the same issues as me, if come one could kindly point me at the right direction that would be great.

Having something similar.
My Wifes RP2 connects to an ATOTO A6 Pro headset, but when her phone rings it doesn't appear on the head unit, and we can't accept calls. you can initiate a call from the head unit, but it doesn't know the call is happening, so you can't drop the call. Been hoping Android 10 is coming soon, so I can upgrade her and test again.
My Huawei Mate 10 Pro works perfectly with the head unit, so I think this is RP2 related.
Did you find anything that helped you?

I'm having the exact same problem with my Razer Phone 2.
What car do you have? It's a 2015 Kia Soul for me.

Bluetooth/Phone Call Issues, Anyone?

Has anyone else been unable to make phone calls after connecting to your vehicle's bluetooth? Most of the time, I can make phone calls without issue. Sometimes, I can't even hear the call ring when I'm connected to bluetooth. Occasionally, when I turn my vehicle off, the call goes silent instead of transferring to the earpiece on the phone. The only way I can fix the issue is rebooting the phone. This has become increasingly frustrating for me, since the issue is so inconsistent.
I'm running the stock ROM, rooted and un-encrypted.
Thanks!
Same here
I'm having the exact same problem you are having with my Ford Touch Sync, Bluetooth has work maybe once. At other times only the music over bluetooth has work. But was unable to make hands free calling! I also made my ford touch sync a trusted device, and the problem with connection still continues! Hope someone could provide some suggestions
Stock rooted- TWRP- encryption removed
I am having issues also. Just today, my phone shows I am connected to my Pioneer Navi head unit, and the Pioneer shows connected to my phone. I proceed to make a call. The audio on my radio mutes as it should, and nothing. No ringing, no busy signal nothing. so i hang up and try three more times. on that third retry, i heard the other party faintly, realizing that even though my radio muted and shows BT connected, the call went through the ear speaker on the phone. When I hung up the phone, my radio unmuted.
Last week, I was having issues where i couldnt hear any rings or busy signals. It would be silent for 20 seconds or so, then i hear the other party say "hello".
I honestly thought it was my head unit, since it is about 4 years old. But now I see others with similar issues on other brand bluetooth systems in their cars.

I just got my N6 today and I'm having trouble with My Ford Touch as well. I can get it to pair and play music, but it won't "connect" to my phone. It's odd because my N5 works fine with it. I would assume the N6 wouldn't be different.
We probably have to wait for an update from Ford, which will probably take months...
EDIT: Well I decided to try it again. I deleted the Nexus 6 entry as well as the Nexus 5 entry. Went through the pairing process again and it worked as intended. Not sure what happened the first time.
I ran into the same problem as others where my N5 worked flawlessly with my Ford Sync in my fusion, but the N6 is terrible.
I love the phone, but this is really annoying. I get into the car and sometimes it connects immediately, other times I have to turn off and back on the bluetooth about 3 times for it to finally connect. Very weird. Ford offers an upgrade to my Sync system, but wants $50 to do the upgrade. Pass.
I might try what the other person did and delete all entries for phones and pair it again. Unfortunately, the weather is pretty bad outside, so it might need to wait a short bit.
Has anyone else had luck re-pairing with their car and had reliable connections?
I use Ford Sync.

I use Ford Sync, and everything works as expected. I am Stock and unrooted. I guess it would come down to what version of Sync. Mine is from 2012. No touch screen. I also delete all other entries on the system and start from scratch making sure that the N6 is the main device.
If I can wake up the screen on my own, outgoing calls work fine

I have a Nexus 6 running Benzo ROM (5.1.1) and I have a GPS Nuvi 3580 bluetooth-enabled which I want to use to make calls while driving. I have added this device to my trusted devices so my phone unlocks as soon as it connected to it.
If my phone screen is on, then I'm able to call anyone from the bluetooth device, no issues. But as soon as my screen goes off, I can't make calls and when I switch on the screen on my own, I see a message "Process system isn't responding. Wait or close?"
Irrespective of what I select on this message, the call goes through. But it totally defeats the purpose of handsfree bluetooth mode. Is there something that is not allowing the bluetooth device to wake my phone up.
Also when I receive an incoming call, I see the notification on my GPS but I can't receive the call in one go. It takes multiple calls for it go through. I have also noticed that my bluetooth device keeps disconnecting and connecting without any change on either the phone or the GPS side.

Since I last made that post you quoted, i purchased and installed a 2015 model of the Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX. It has Android Auto, but can be used with the regular Pioneer UI also. I have had no issues anymore with this new radio. Maybe the BT protocol in the radio is newer? Im not that tech savvy to know. But the 2015 radio had no issues with BT calls anymore, on Pioneer's UI or Android Auto's UI.

Possible to use a Bluetooth Headset with Android Auto?

Hello,
I just purchased and installed a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX. So far it's pretty slick. I'll be using it with my Galaxy S6.
I noticed that when I try to disable the Call Audio Bluetooth profile from the phone side, it re-enables itself... like I HAVE to use the NEX for call audio.
I would like to be able to turn on my BT headset and use that instead, without much hassle. There are definitely times where I'll be in the car with other people and don't want the whole car to hear the conversation. It also presents a call quality issue with the far end being able to hear the system speakers.
Do I have to unplug USB from the NEX to make this work?

I would like to know this also
I have same unit, try having headset connected before plugging in your phone. That may work

I'm bumping this up. With my previous phone (LG V10) I could select which device use to make phone calls, Android Auto device or a bluetooth headset (Plantronics). Now with a Oneplus 3T that is not possible anymore.
AA automatically rerouting "BT phone" to main AA device. That is really annoying.
If someone knows a workaround to this please give advice, thanks...
You have to have it enabled, in a nutshell the unit (Pioneer) declares that it has bluetooth capabilities and declares the bluetooth mac address when it initialize the connection, than Android Auto (trough Google Play Services which is a system app) will enable the bluetooth, set up a pairing if it doesn't exist and connect to it, so no matter what you do it will always connect to it, the only way to "avoid" this is:
a) Get another phone which connects to the Pioneer bluetooth, then connect the phone (haven't tried this, but probably will do the trick)
b) Alter the pioneer unit so it doesn't send the bluetooth mac and it doesn't declare the bluetooth service (almost impossible, you will need to replace the app on the unit)

Issue using Car Handfree calling on MI5

Hi,
I've recently gotten the Mi5 and one issue that i have discovered is that when i connect it to the car hands free (Toyota Yaris with Toyota Touch 1) It doesn't let me speak and i can't hear the person on the other end.
There is a workaround where i would have to on the phone swap the output from Bluetooth - Handsfree - back to bluetooth and then it starts working again. I'm not sure its possible to replace the stock phone app on the device but although there is a work around it defeats the purpose of hands free calling if i have to do that while in the car!
Anyone have any ideas for a fix?
Thanks,

I did forget to mention that it worked fine with the Oneplus One it just appears to have this strange bug on the Mi5
Hi gavrai,
I have the same bluetooth issue. But when I answer the call using my phone I can talk using my car's audio without using the 'Bluetooth - Handsfree - back to bluetooth' method.
I am running the MIUI Global 7.2.4.0.0(MAACNDB) on my Mi5 connecting to a Volvo V40.
When I connect a HTC M7 or M8 to the car everything is working ok.
Hope someone has an idea
Maybe we should check the Xiaomi forums if there are any.....
I've got a mi5 and if I'm listening to music and then use the speaker of the phone, i.e. make a call, receive a call, make a voice recording to send via FB messenger or voice recording to send by text, then, when it switches back to music/podcast/bluetooth, the music/podcast starts skipping, like a record. I cannot figure out how to stop this glitch from happening. I've had one or two updates since I got the phone but this keeps happening and it's really frustrating. The only way I can stop the skipping is to turn off my bluetooth and then turn it back on. Any one have this issue or know how to fix it? Thanks

Ford/BT bluetooth issue

OK so occasionally I see threads about BT/Bluetooth issues but although I change my phone frequently I've never had any issues with my Ford Ranger of 3 years... until now.
Worked fine with Note 8, Huawei P20 Pro and anything in between.
The issue recently is when I try and make a call via the Ford pick-up it says no network, but it's playing music at the time no problem and the phone shows up under bluetooth.
If I make a call from the phone it instantly comes up on the car system and I can speak and make the call normally. I unpaired and started over today nut no difference.
Any thoughts?

I don't have the issue with my Verizon N960U and 2018 Subaru Forester, but there is another thread here with the Same symptoms on a few different makes /models of vehicle.
I tried search but didn't find anything. Anybody got a link please?
Bluetooth works fine in my 2016 F150, now Android Auto is another story.
solved!
Tried a new music App - Pulsar+ and although it took ages to get all the right cover photos (about 40 out of 180 manually searching and downloading) all is well again.
Thanks

Android 10 upgrade causes problem with car handsfree

I have updated my phone to android 10 and everything went great, it worked fine and I was pretty happy.
I drive Hyundai Tucson 2017 and using phone (via bluetooth) in the car was great, but since my upgrade there is no sound from the phone (any sound, playing music or phone call) and I can't answer or make the call from the car, phone is pretty useless in the car now (or car is pretty useless with the phone now).
I deleted bluetooth device, and connected fresh and it didn't help. Is there any option I should check? I spent an hour looking through settings and couldn't find anything related. What are other options? Going back to android 9? Hopefully not. Just don't tell me to go to car dealer and ask them to update firmware, I would rather kill myself
I don't have 10 yet so take that for what it's worth.
Do you have a bluetooth speaker or headset you can pair with and see if it works then?
When I do get 10 I'll try with wife's 2017 Sorento, I believe KIA and Hyundai use very similar head unit software and hardware (assuming your trim is the same).
I just tried with JBL Flip 4 and works fine

Hrm. My next suggestion would be a factory reset - a bit drastic but often helps when there's been a major update. If you do this just make sure you back things up first.
Otherwise I have not heard any other issues on the Lenovo/Motorola forums nor Reddit with this issue.
