Emui 5 is based on Android 7. So I guess it's very difficult to create a custom rom for this device.
There will be LineageOS android Nougat. But EMUI 5 sounds like a waste of time. Most people enjoy stock more than EMUI. Unless you find a developer that's willing to spend a lot of time on this, nope, no EMUI 5

Yeah I know about that, I was just asking because I tried EMUI 5 and I liked it a lot, but I like AOSP-based rom as well.
Thank you for answering!
Ciao!
If HUAWEI Y6Ⅱ (Honor 5A) has EMUI 5.0, we can try to port it.

Hi guys, i still didnt receive emui 8.0, and i want to know if its really worth it upgrading to so i can install it manually, as i saw in the internet its doesnt differ too much from emui 5.0, is it worh it ? does it provide more battery life or performance ?
Yes, you get all the latest security patches.
Hello,
what were the first impressions of the update?
Should I do it or stay in the previous version?
Thanks
Hello,
I have a VOG-L29 and I received OTA 10.1.0.123 (patch 02)
When I compare with 10.0 there are some downgrades in my opinion.
1. Baterry life seems to be a little worse on 10.1
2. The phone rings adcending with no option to disable/enable (some people may like that way)
3. There is this bug on P30 pro:
in Display/brightness when you disable the automatic brightness, after a while it gets enabled by itself.
On EMUI 9 I had the bug, on EMUI 10.0 the bug dissapeared, on EMUI 10.1 the bug re-appeared.
For me, EMUI 10.0 was the best.
I regret that I made the upgrade to 10.1 but I hope they will solve the mentioned issues with a patch.
Stay on 10.0
I have question. What about 9.1 to 10.0?

Avoid 10.1.0.123 but update to 10.1.0.133 battery life is better than the 1st day I got my phone a year ago.

So, You mean that I rollback to 9.1 unnecessarily? ?
Thank you so much your feedback.
I will stay on 10.0 for now
Stay on 10.0
Any news about this?
It is annoying get all every day a notification to update my phone.

First of all, to flash anything (root,TWRP, custom ROMs) you must unlock Bootloader
Second, check the threads in ROMs section but if I recall correctly for P9, EMUI 5, there were only two or three custom ROMs based on stock and one or two (LOS and maybe RR) based on AOSP - developed (and stopped) back in 2017
EMUI 5 was not ready for GSI ROMs, and every custom ROM must have been adapted and ported to P9
You probably think about new, GSI based Pixel Experience or similar ROMs - for that you would first need to update to EMUI 8, Oreo (and rebrand from your Italian to Chinese EMUI because EMUI 8 was only released for China)
All together not impossible but not as easy and friendly as if you would have a new (Android 9 or 10) Xiaomi, One Plus or a similar phone where you just unlock Bootloader and start experimenting with GSI ROMs
Last but not the least, specially if you are a newbie, think about the community regarding help, learning from, sharing experience - there are only two or three users who are still actively experimenting with GSI/AOSP custom ROMs on P9, posting only something from month to month here, hence you will mostly need to go alone

If your device is unlocked, rebranded and updated to EMUI 8.0, you can install GSI ROMs with some issues. You're better off installing OpenKirin ROMs or sticking to EMUI 8.0. This device isn't very active in development, but we will try to help. You can install phh-based Android O/P ROMs. Android Q GSIs don't work because of this device's VNDK 26.
