[SOLVED] Broken fastboot - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Update:
Surprisingly fastboot got detected in my same laptop after 3/4 days.
Original:
Hello Everyone,
Long story short:
I unlocked the bootloader of my K20 Pro using my laptop
Used LOS 16 for few days
Wiped everything except vendor in TWRP
Flashed OOS GSI by Erfan
Flashed Permissiver_v5.zip
Rebooted (Forgot to flash disable verify vbmeta)
Went to fastboot to flash disable verify vbmeta
Phone not even recognized. Not even shown in device manager.
Points to note:
I have fastboot drivers perfectly installed
I unlocked the bootloader of my phone with the same laptop and same data cable
Other phones (Redmi Note 7 Pro, etc) gets detected in fastboot in my laptop but not my phone
Tried 4 different cables in Windows 7, 10 and Ubuntu 18
My phone's hardware is working fine as it gets detected in the same PC when I do data transfer inside OS and connect it in EDL Mode
My Issue:
Phone not detected in fastboot mode while it gets detected in data transfer and edl modes and my friend's phone gets deected in fastboot mode. Why is my phone not getting detected in fastboot?
FEELING SAD
Helps are highly appreciated!

Try to open device manager in Windows, you should see an unnamed "Android device".
Right-click on it and select "update drivers" (Better to use Windows updater) or something similar.
See if you can fix this issue, it happened to me 1 year ago.

More Info:
I tried in every ports of all the 4 Laptops that I tried. No Luck. Also I used 4 different cables. Each laptop had almost 2 to 3 ports. I tried almost all the (4*4*3 = 48 - Approximately) possible combinations that I could. 2 of these laptops were running Windows 10, one was running Windows 7 and another one with Ubuntu. All these 4 laptops can detect my friend's phone (Redmi Note 7 Pro) in fastboot, but not mine!

My device doesn't show up in device manager in fastboot. That is my problem. Other mobiles gets shown here. No, My phone doesn't have a hardware problem as it gets detected in data transfer mode and edl mode.

Is TWRP/custom recovery is installed? Can you boot into the custom recovery? Try to re-install stock kernel there

PC will not detect Mi Mix

Mix
7.0 NRD90M
MIUI Version: Miui Global 9.2 | Stable 9.2.1.0 (NAHMIEK)
kernel: 3.18.31 perf-g0bf156d-01070-g4aac0b4a
Phone came unlocked from seller HongKong Goldway on Aliexpress.
I have tried to download the usb drivers for my laptop which is on windows 10 and a PC running windows 7 and did that update driver thing and tried to use the downloaded winusb_inf file. I've also tried going into windows INF folder and right clicking that wdptmp.inf file and trying "install".
The laptop says Unknown USB device ( Device Descriptor Request Failed) and the PC says Unknown Device. Both are under the USB section on Device Manager
I installed ADB Fastboot tools, turned the phone off and held power + vol down to go into "Fastboot" where it loads a white bunny with a green russian hat holding cords behind a green android robot. Fastboot on the computer doesn't detect any devices.
I also tried Mi Suite and nothing detects. I am using the original usb type C cord and I also tried 3 different usb Type C cords.
Any help guys?? (Also I can't find any update app icon anymore...is that new?)
I want to install TWRP and root so i can do that performance tweak for the mix. and load up a custom rom.

What about miflash, it will ask you to install drivers, they are bundled with miflash

Hi thanks for the reply,
Is that the program that has the "RESTESTING" and "INSTALL" button/options? If so. I've tried clicking install and it says its finished. If this is the same program were talking about, it didn't do anything to help detect the phone.

Sounding like you might have a vendor ROM installed, you should follow the guide in the guide's section, follow the guide for installing twrp with vendor ROM. The unlocked bootloader is a sure sign the vendor installed their own ROM.

interesting. I thought my miui version meant that it wasn't a vendor rom? in any case, i still can't install TWRP if i can't get my phone to detect on any pc...

Yea the guide tells you how to install the drivers, miflash has an option to install driver's. From fastboot you bypass the ROM

I've already installed adb fastboot and all that on my pc. Booted my device into fastboot mode. fastboot does NOT detect any devices though. see my issue? i cant do anything from fastboot because nothing is detected.
Also i only have 4 numbers...doesn't that mean its NOT vendor?

No follow the guide for the correct install of driver's, disable driver signature in windows 10.
http://en.miui.com/thread-345974-1-1.html#post_6279092
There are 1000s of people on this forum who have done the same thing you are trying to do. So basically you are trying to get China dev ROM installed through miflash, then your PC will recognize it then you can install the rest after.
Search vendor ROM mi mix, even if it isn't vendor ROM sounds like you are still going to follow the same guide.
Have you tried another PC? Don't see anyone else complaining about not detected

i cant install china dev rom if miflash doesn't even detect anything plugged in. literally about to smash my mix. yes i tried to follow that guide and similar ones like it. and yes i disabled signature
installed drivers from miflash, disabled driver sig, put phone into fastboot, plugged it in the pc, clicked REFRESH on miflash. nothing appears.
I'm not crazy.

i have tried 2 and 3, nothing. method 1's steps didnt really make any sense to me so i didnt do that one.
im dumbfounded because im reading posts on XDA and MIUI forums and theres like 30% of mi mix owners that never found a solution to this while the other portion did easily. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong and I'm starting to think it's the phone and not my laptop. I also found out that when i go into fastboot mode on my mix, it only stays in fastboot mode for like 30 seconds and then ejects itself out of fastboot mode (im not sure if this is normal)
Ive also tried to download older official china roms and tried updating them through the mix's updater option. nothing. what in the hell is going on here?!??!?!

Hey thanks for the reply.
Do you see picture 1 you uploaded, where its device manager and you can see Portable Devices and there you have that One A2001 device that shows up?
I don't have ANYTHING that pops up under portable devices or portable storage.
Mine only has a notification under the USB serial bus controllers. Mine says only this
Now, I know what you mean by trying to install the MTP USB Device, except you can't do that when you have this kind of USB error because it doesn't even detect a device to even update a driver to MTP.
If you read back you'll see that I have tried installing USB drivers before, I've also used the MiFlash tool to install drivers through there. Still nothing. If someone can find a fix I'll paypal them a few bucks for their trouble because I seriously don't know what to do from here. I've searched many forum posts on here, miui forums, reddit and everyone seems to at least have something detect in their Device Manager as a device. OR some people are able to detect their device in ADB boot but mine doesn't and mine also can only stay in fastboot for 30 seconds before it kicks itself out.
I also don't believe I have a vendor rom because it only has 4 numbers despite coming in the mail already with an unlocked bootloadeder.

phone is connected. and ive already tried what you're guide says. except this is what it looks like on mine\
no MTP option at all
when i uncheck compatible hardware box (there is no mtp as far as i looked in the options)
I believe yours gives you the MTP option because your computer picked it up as a device. Whereas mine is having some kind of USB error and doesn't know wtf is plugged in? The thing is, it will detect my Redmi Note 4 Global with no problem... so

Damm.
IDK maybe there is a problem with your charging port.
You can try another thing, If you have another phone with a USB type C port and you have a USB type C to USB type C charging cable, then connect these 2 phone and try transferring files from one phone the to other (Did it with my phone and my friend's Nexus 5X).

Phone not detected

Hello,
I was on 10.0.7 version, rooted with magisk.
I had error while installing 10.0.8 version, then I downloaded 10.0.7 full rom, and used flash_all_except_data.bat.
Then after rebooting, it runs infinitely on loading animation (colors bar).
When I enter in fastboot, fastboot logo is displayed, but pc doesn't recognize phone anymore (fastboot devices show nothing).
[UPDATE]
I managed to boot with wiping data from recovery (Xiaomi stock recovery).
Now I can use the phone, but I don't have wifi (maybe something messed with vendor).
And I can't flash it because it is not recognized in fastboot mode (tried 3 W10 PCs, and 1 W7, it doesn't show in device manager)...
Can you help me ?
This is because the phone presents different device identifiers to the computer in these modes, and different drivers are needed, so it is possible to have proper drivers installed for one mode, but not the other. The fastboot program is simple and will just show the < waiting for device > message forever if drivers are missing. However, the same message may appear if the drivers are installed correctly, but the phone is not in the proper state with fastboot device IDs.
Make sure you aren't using a USB 3.0 port. Trying changing ports. The USB cable might also be the problem.
try using a direct usb 2.0 port on the pc ....
Otherwise reboot everything , erase cache first ?
Fastboot erase cache
or
Keep the phone connected and reboot the recovery , the led should come on then.
Keep the phone connected in the bootloader and reboot the pc.
If the problem still exists the let me know
What's the exact error ? Waiting for device
When the phone is in the bootloader is it recognized as fastboot usb (in red text) and what does the device manager in windows say about a android phone ?

In fastboot mode nothing shows in device manager, with 3 different cables, with 4 different computers (3x W10, 1xW7).
I tried connecting with a live cd of CentOS.
Same results, adb connect when phone is started, but when I go in fastboot mode nothings shows in lsusb or dmesg...
Looks like the phone doesn't connect to pc in fastboot, very very strange...

Otg ,file transfer not working in MI A2, fastboot not detecting

I had installed pixel experience on my Mi A2(jasmine_sprout) recently, after some days I had installed pixel experience plus using twrp. From that time my mobile is not detecting otg and when I connect it to pc it's only charging (tried file transfer in usb options, not working), whenever I try I put my phone fastboot mode,on my pc it's showing waiting for devices and my mobile is not rooted ,(twrp not installed permanently)help me to get out of this?

you SOT ....
you need adb & fastboot that works to do anything
you can only try 3 things:
1. find out what is wrong with usb ...try new official cables , reinstalling drivers, different usb ports , different pc
2. using application from playstore and on your phone enable and authorize adb via wifi / network
use this adb to force phone to boot to edl mode:
adb reboot edl
3. open your mobile with screwdriver following video tutorials .... using testpoint force edl mode
#in edl mode your phone WILL be detected if you install Qualcomm drivers then you can flash stock rom with miflash
i dont know why people mess with PE because like 80% have problems with wifi or usb or something

Question Fastboot driver only displays on first use

I have a very odd issue with fastboot. The computer (windows 10) detects the device the first time I use fastboot and then will not show up in device manager on other attempts.
I have the EU variant running Oxygen OS 11.0.11.11.EB12BA with Magisk installed.
I have installed the Oneplus ADB drivers and this works flawlessly. Booting the first time into fastboot mode the device showed in the device manager, I was able to install the fastboot driver and fastboot devices showed my phone.
Trying a second or third time nothing shows in the device manager. The device is completely absent from USBDeview.exe. It behaves as if it's not even plugged in.
I was able to reproduce this on another computer I have.
Is anyone else facing this issue and/or knows what might be going wrong?
EDIT: If it helps anyone else having this issue I'm able to get the "OnePlus Android Bootloader Interface" to show up if I plug the phone into a USB HUB, then plug the HUB into the computer. Rebooting the phone again into fastboot will not show up but if I unplug and replug the hub in the driver will activate again.

You don't need to install any fastboot drivers, if you're on windows; just install one plus driver (without driver signature/in test mode) and stay on them.

Sorry I think I've explained incorrectly. Those are the drivers I've installed, the problem is it only works once.
The second time I reboot the phone into Fastboot mode it doesn't display in device manager. Looking at USBDeview absolutely nothing shows up. Changing USB ports and the cable have no effect, however if I plug the phone into an old USB 2 hub I have then plug that into the computer it will display again in the device manager.

device not getting detected in both adb and fastboot.

I am stuck in a very weird situation, my device is not getting detected in both adb in recovery mode and fastboot. I have no ROM (No OS) installed at the moment.
I am booting to recovery and fastboot through hardware keys.
I have tried installing drivers from mi unlock tool and any other USB drivers I could find in top searches of "USB drivers".
I am sure the USB cable is not the issue as other xiaomi device (Redmi note 4) is getting detected.
The port also looks fine as I can see 'charging' in recovery mode.
What are my options here? is my device 'gone'? I have orange fox recovery so I have access to `shell` if that helps.

Hey man, I know this might sound dumb, but have tried using a different PC ??, I have been in a situation like this and trying using a different pc actually was successful
> Have you tried different PC
Yes. My first suspicion was USB3.0 Ports. So I tried a different PC as well. Unfortunately couldn't find a PC with USB 2.0 ports but yeah another PC didn't work as well (Note mine worked for past 4 years just fine)
