I have a fully updated stock 4/64 A2 with YouTube disabled (because I prefer NewPipe). Until a week or so ago, I did not have any problems keeping it disabled.
Now, it gets automatically enabled after an indeterminate amount (minutes? hours?) of time. I clear Storage for the app, disable it (whereby it is replaced by the factory version), and after some time it shows up in my app drawer and Play Store 'updates available' list again!
Can someone please help me exorcise the ghost from my machine?
Yeah this problem is annoying. Try disabling Google Partners Setup and Google One Time Init. So far it works for me

Thanks for the response, but it didn't work for me. It stayed disabled for one whole day, but then came right back a few minutes ago.
Is there anything else I should try other than patiently waiting for official LineageOS 17?

Root your phone and delete it from system.

Edit: I just remembered you are waiting for LOS. Means you are most probably do not care about system partition modification. If that is the case, the suggestion above was right. Get root, then Delete it from /system/app
That is one persistent ghost. Are you rooted with Magisk? I could make a simple module that effectively makes the YouTube app directory under /system become empty

I'm completely stock, fully updated (no BL unlock or root, etc.). I was hoping to enjoy the benefits of the Android One program (no Xiaomi/Google bloatware, timely security updates) until [OFFICIAL] LOS comes out (mostly because I really like PrivacyGuard and AFWall+ (with root)).
For some reason, the official version of LOS16 didn't come out at all; I'm eagerly awaiting @rcstar6696 to whip up official LOS17.
In addition to Google Partners Setup and Google One Time Init, I have also disabled the two Android Setup apps. Let's hope this one does the trick. I'll report back if it doesn't.
EDIT: So that didn't work; the YouTube app is back again. The two Android Setup apps are showing as enabled as well.
Well at this point i recommend for you to unlock BL and whip Magisk to the stock ROM. Enable systemless hosts in magisk, then I will give you the detailed steps & files to put in the systemless hosts directory. I will get back to you as soon as i could
Having BL unlocked and Magisk installed won't hurt your Android One experience (i am using the same setup). However, updating over OTA would be a bit hassle as you will have to Restore Images from Magisk manager, update, and install Magisk to the other slot. A mild inconvenience, but you get to retain the original device's software and feel

Thanks for the offer to help :good:, but I think I'll mess around with the phone once stable Android 10 shows up for it, be it stock or LOS.
In the meantime, I have hidden the YouTube icon from my app drawer. Out of sight, out of mind. Take that, Google!
I use this method, woks without root

***** TotalX *****
I've built a mofo-flashable system image for the Verizon Moto X 2014 containing root, WiFi tethering, Busybox, SQLite3, Xposed, a symlinked hosts file for adblocking, a custom bootanimation, and the stock Google Dialer that has caller ID and allows you to search for business phone numbers. I also added the stock Google Messenger app. I'm currently working on getting CF.lumen to work, and AirAudio is fully functional with this image. I really didn't do much, most of the hard work was thanks to @JulesJam, @Slack3r, @slogar25, @btdownloads7, and @mikeoswego. Shout out to all of them for their hard work.
Download here:
TotalX-1.3.rar
TotalX-1.2.rar
TotalX-1.1.rar (do not recommend flashing, very buggy and drains battery)
TotalX.rar
Instructions:
Download the Xposed installer if you don't already have it, and install it to your phone but don't do anything with it. Also install AdAway 3.0.
If this is your first time flashing an image with Xposed, go into your file manager and delete /data/dalvik-cache/arm and /data/dalvik-cache/profiles. If you don't already have root, just do this step after flashing and reboot.
Wipe cache prior to flashing:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
Next, extract TotalX.rar to your mofo directory, flash the image with mofo, and wipe cache when its done:
Code:
mofo flash TotalX-1.1.img
fastboot erase cache
It might take a while to boot up, but at least you can enjoy the crazy new bootanimation. When it finally boots, open up AdAway and go to preferences, scroll down to "Target hosts file" and select /data/data/hosts. This sets it so that AdAway modifies the hosts file in /data/data, which is where the /system/etc/hosts file is pointing to.
If you'd like extra heavy-hitting adblocking, add XXXXXXXXXX to your hosts sources (EDIT: Don't do this, it screws up MMS). Then hit download and apply on the main screen and reboot once its done.
Install any Xposed modules you want and reboot. And here's a great module you can't get through the Xposed app: Pandora Patcher
That's it! You should be all set after that with no ads and the power of Xposed. If you have any trouble flashing, don't be afraid to post here and I'll try to help out. And if you'd like to buy me a beer, feel free to shoot [email protected] some cash on Google Wallet
Changelog:
Version 1.3:
- AirAudio is now fully functional!
Version 1.2:
- Removed build.prop edits due to HDR bug and battery drain
Version 1.1:
- Switched to @mikeoswego's base to fix busybox due to Xposed installation removing busybox for some reason
- Google Messenger app added
- build.prop edits by @trimax84
- New bootanimation taken from @motomotomotoG's collection (Geometry Dark), if you'd like any of the others from that page let me know and I'll make you an image!
- Fixed bootanimation memory leak using fix by @arter97
Version 1.0:
- Original, based on @btdownloads7's image, added Xposed, hosts symlink, 5.1 bootanimation, and Google Dialer.

Known Bugs:
- Upon flashing, you may experience Google Play Services constantly crashing. Still not sure what causes this. To fix it, uninstall updates for the Google Play Store and Google Play Services, reboot, and then reinstall the update. No more crashing after that.
- If you followed my instructions earlier to add http://adblock.mahakala.is/ to your hosts sources in AdAway, you will most likely be unable to send MMS. To fix this, revert your hosts file and remove this source, then reboot, reapply, and reboot again.
- Version 1.1 was very buggy due to the build.prop edits. The edits create a bug where the camera app crashes when taking pictures in HDR mode. It also seemed to drain battery at a ridiculous pace and created huge slowdowns. I fixed this in later versions and will not be editing the build.prop in future versions.

You are the man. I'm downloading now and will flash as soon as I can. [emoji106]
Install went as expected. I was coming from another version of this img with adaway and xposed and bb, sqlite. I cleared cache before and after install, on boot everything went good, not too long. At first everything was smooth, I was letting it settle before playing with the new dialer, then I started getting mass unresponsive apps, mostly google. I did a reboot and haven't had a repeat of the issue yet. Adaway updates fine, xposed modules load fine, and busybox is good. Google dialer is operational if a little slow feeling to me, oh and the boot animation is gorgeous as well. Great work putting this one together, to all who input.

hmmm.. that sound a little scary might hold off until its confirmed that this was a one off issue. But thanks for the upload!
To be fair it happened to someone else on one of the other threads with a dif image. Seems to be a one off after a reboot. Understand your trepidation though.
It actually just happened to me too. Rebooted and hasn't happened again. But yeah, it also happened to me with one of the previous builds as well, so I think it might just be a one-off problem. Will report if it happens again.
It does that with every new flash. Not sure why, but a reboot fixes that sucker.
Thanks for this! Any chance of getting this image without Xposed?

Alternatively you could flash this image and not use Xposed i.e. don't install the APK. Libs are't doing anything important.

Installed! Thanks for the Birthday Present -
As a suggestion you could modify the Build.prop to add a custom Rom Name under settings and custom details etc. That way you can really feel ownership of your changes.
Also if you really wanted you could delete Verizon Apps under the /system/app partition to remove bloatware but I understand that may be a bit tedious and undesirable. Otherwise really good build, worked well - no issues.

Or you could just freeze them with TiBU. If you are not going to be able to use the space for anything else, no sense in deleting them. Also some Verizon customers actually use NFL Mobile, Verizon Navigator, MyVerizon, etc.
I've had the gapps issue as well, basically neutered the phone until I forced a restart. A reboot had fixed it temporarily but it came back again a couple of times. I eventually uninstalled updates for both Play Store (gapps) and Google Play Services and re-downloaded the updates. Have been fine for a while now.
My bluetooth has also been wonky. Used to connect to my car without issue but now I seemingly have to manually connect, or even reboot the phone to get it to connect. Wasn't having these issues on previous images...
Now that I've bltched, I really appreciate the work...and the changes are worth the few headaches! Thanks!

Do you have any interest in adding CF Lumen to your image? When I download it, it has to install a driver and that must be something that is installed on /system b/c it never gets installed. However, I don't know if drivers are something that is too complicated to bake into an image.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711912
There is an unrooted mode but it doesn't work near as well as the rooted mode. With the rooted mode you can get the whites to be a very nice cool-toned white w/o any yellow/pink tinge.

That's really strange. I've only experience the gapps freaking out once, but this is worrying. I might do some research to try to figure out what the problem could be.

Hi all.
I installed cm13 on my mi5 pro yesterday. Looking good so far. I only have minor issues. The first and most important is I can't swap the back and recent button. I've already got used to miui method ( back on the right, recent button on the left).
How can I change them on cm13? Unfortunately closed+gravity can't help me, because after installing them my banking app (Barclay's) thinks that my phone is rooted and closes with an FC. I've also tried the buttons on the screen option, but in this way I lose screen size, though I can change the buttons I believe.
The other small issue is that I don't really like the menu in this alphabetical order system. Can I use something else instead? Like what is in Nova launcher, just a normalenu, nothing else.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Cheers!
the first issue is related to kernel... when cm will be based on the kernel released from xiaomi, the problem will be solved. don't worry, developers are working on it
I found the a method and it is working:

For the drawer style you can change that in the launcher's settings. Long press a free spot on your home screen, then press settings and change style to "compact".
This swaps the two capacitive buttons around to xiaomi setup instead of Google
you can also find it on this url: https://store.shade.sh/mi5/ from the unofficial cm13 weekly build thread if you do not wish to download it from myself
Thank you guys its working like a miracle.
Now I have another problem, but this time it looks massive.
So my problem is that cm13 is pre rooted when you install it. Well, I have no problem with it, but unfortunately my banking app ( Barclay's) has. I can't use it, because it says rooted device not supported. I've already checked developer options, and root access is disabled, but this doesn't help, I still have issues with the app. I tried flash SuperSU+binaries from twrp, opened app after flash and use full unroot, same problem, banking app thinks my phone is still rooted. I'm thinking about trying out the slim (aosp based) ROM if I can't find any working method.
Can you guys help me with this?
Thank you one again

Try using shade.sh's userbuilds. They are built without built in root. They are under the category "userbuilds" on his website.
Success!
I had to install aosp to to realize what's the problem here. After I did that the same problem happened.: Banking app says my phone is rooted. So I tried doing the same methods on aosp what I did on cm13, except Xposed+gravity because I knew my apps gonna FC. So I tried safe unroot apk from play store, no luck. I also tried this app the night before.
Then i thought maybe I should enable root in developer options, because yesterday morning with this was a half success, Barclays mobile banking app( debit card) said, the device is rooted, I touched ok, then it started without any problems. It was only half success, because the other app Barclaycard (credit card) didn't work, same problem: the phone is rooted. So I tried out the following, and that was the complete success:
Enabled root access for apps only in dev options than i started safe unroot from play->everything's working like a charm.
Thank you guys for help!
Hello everyone. I have created this thread (hopefully in the right place) to start a discussion on methods/developing methods to get fortnite to work on a rooted device, with magisk installed. Im currently running Dr. Ketan's rom (android pie) on a samsung galaxy note 9 and for obvious reasons (the fortnite galaxy skin) would like to play a few games and have it work without any hiccups. Im not looking to hack the game or any nonsense like that, so if anyone has a currently functioning method that doesnt require me to reflash stock firmware (as i dont have a pc and had to use a friends to unlock bootloader and such) and play on the unrooted device then re-root and install custom rom

Uhh. Its already working. Atleast for me. You just need to hide magisk manager , hide Fortnite app and installer on magisk hide tab, disable usb debugging, and make sure there isn't magisk named folder or files inside your internal storage. That should do it. I'm on the note 8 and it works just fine

Anybody still using this method? I get all the way to the drop then get kicked out "can't sync user profile"
Magisk is hidden in a random folder, installer and game both hidden. Tried with Developer settings off and also with them on. Rooted.
Even Google Pay works so I'm head scratching here if there is a system processes that is now needing hidden or what to play the newest Beta. All help appreciated.
I have the same problem. Google pay is working but fortnite not
I'm on a rooted OnePlus 7 Pro and mine just stopped working yesterday. Was fine for about an hour after the Star Wars event then logged on around 10pm and I get kicked out as soon as I exited the bus. Keeps happening over and over again. No other software changes so I'm guessing there needs to be some update to Magisk to get it working again.

Stock OnePlus 7 pro with magisk and TWRP. Epic launcher and Fortnite both hidden in magisk hide. USB debugging turned off. No modules installed. Just using it for root. Worked fine until last night. Gpay and all other safety net apps work fine. It's just Fortnite. Logged in on a friend's Xbox and a really laggy ipad and could play on both so it's not my account - it's definitely the rooted phone and magisk no longer hides itself from Fortnite.
I'm really irritated with the whole thing because I was so close to finishing the season pass and now I can't play at all.
Here's another fix. These last few updates they have added more things to the blacklist. So remember that they basically scans the internal sdcard etc for MagiskManager folder right? Well now they scan TWRP folder too!! So try renaming it to something else without TWRP in it. And see if it works!. Just tried mine and still working just fine!

Thanks for posting that. I renamed the folder and now it works again.
Now I need to figure out if I can leave it that way or if I need to keep switching the folder name back and forth to be able to use TWRP correctly.

With Tasker or Automate, you can set a trigger to automatically rename folder on start of Fortnite and rename back, after the game is closed.
I was doing a data migration Via Titanium backup for my new Razer 2 from a OnePlus 6 and decided to try it's trusted face restore. I had tried magisk modules and apk downloads from other websites when I found out it wasn't available out of the box. I'll add the apk itself and the titanium files. Let me know how it works with just the apk. And if the bare apk doesn't work use titanium back up and let it restore as a system app.
EDIT:
Time to resurrect an old thread, I removed the app and tried it again using the packages I provided and ran into the same issue. Attached below is a titanium backup of my new working app. If you cannot get it working with the attached zip download the latest NANO Open GAPPS package available at https://opengapps.org/. I got it working again by installing the nano package. Let me know how it works guys ?

Yes it works and yes I'm on pie. It actually works incredibly well. The app came from my OnePlus 6 on pie. I'm rooted and did it through titanium backup though. If someone unrooted tests just the apk report back.
I'm unrooted tried to install app no good doesn't work
How to restore this with titanium? sorry but it's have been a while since I used titanium
Edit: managed that titanium recognize the backup but it doesn't get restored it stays on 0%
Edit 2: now it gots restored but gives me a FC if I try to add a face

With the apk you went into the settings/security/smart Lock/ and didn't see trusted face in there then?

The app is still installed correct? From there, to try and fix the force close go into the applications from settings and clear the data from the app and try the setup again.

Yes it's installed correct and appears in smart Lock.
Clearing data doesn't help (was the first what I have tried).

Could you check the permissions it's granted in applications? Make sure it has access to everything. If that doesn't do it I'll remove the app from my device and do a fresh restore with my titanium file I posted. If it works for me again I'll post all the steps I took and add some screenshots in the original post as an edit

The app doesn't install just fails
app cannot be installed.
As of now read the updated instructions and you should be set on getting trusted face working. Quick summary is install the nano GAPPS package and it will appear in settings -> security -> smart lock. I think the install via app method in the original post didn't work because there were missing libraries that the package installs.
Smart locks do not have face recognition. (Have you received a security update in the last six months? This system cannot be updated in China.)?

No, I haven't had any updates since February. Looks like Razer already cut support for the 2
I'll look and see if there are any methods that can be used in China for this. I have a feeling the downloads will be blocked since it's a Google app :crying:.

I like to play games, but this phone, the system is very bad, inexplicable Caton, I think rp3 will not be launched, rp2 system update should seek third-party development (if there is a very good third party I am willing to try)。:highfive:

Honestly I'm thinking about trying to build AOSP like lineage from scratch for this thing. I agree that the system is pretty bad.

I did see where the Razer Phone (first phone) was now LineageOS supported, too. First saw it unofficial, and as of yesterday, officially supported.

they are all fastboot commands, indeed, you reminded me that it would be better to directly add a mini guide for anyone who might need it :fingers-crossed:
Hi, actually I tried your previous post on extreme bloatware removal and ended up with not able to install apks. Even tried side loading via adb. But some required service has been included in your list which caused the apks not installed. I checked with two other devices and same happened. Could you please confirm if it's rectified in this updated one.

Thanks for reporting,
I personally can still install the apks without problems. I didn't need to try adb sideload. otherwise I would not have loaded the list. Anyway I will in these days identify the package involved and make it visible. It was a feature that I personally don't use much based on my configuration. In any case, I repeat, you did well to report it. I will provide to insert it on the thread.

Thanks mate, and I give you a little advice about unlocking the bootloader: it gave me an unlock error even though I never unplugged the Mi account from the device and it was all hours past. With the latest version of the MiUnlock it gave me an unlock error despite everything being in order. I solved by installing version 2.2.624.14. I'll tell you just in case :fingers-crossed:
com.xiaomi.providers.appindex* entries should not be removed from Xiaomi phones. These apps are actually the custom skinned "Settings" for Android - removing them will lose access to all settings and will require your device be factory reset. Leave them alone!

After doing this, the calendar is no longer working. I didn't noticed you included the calendar in those commands, why would you do that?

Because as i said, this is a Debloat, i use third party apps for my personal configuration. especially in packages like in this case "calendar"; it is not difficult to guess that doing a debloat eliminates a related service. That's why I always say to make a backup.
Except that removing the calendar provider doesn't allow the google calendar app to work (the play store version, not the one installed by default). It is completely unnecessary to remove it (again, the provider, not the app) and I wouldn't consider it bloatware at all.
I recommend you to use this https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/tool-xiaomi-adb-fastboot-tools-t3887359
Or visit the saki github https://saki-eu.github.io/XiaomiADBFastbootTools/
It's better and make you easily to debloat or do any adb/fastboot needed. :fingers-crossed:
