How to proceed after unlocking to flash TWRP and PE Rom - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Didn't do this for years, and after watching few guides how to I still have questions on proper procedure how to flash custom recovery and ROM after unlock.
Do I need to after unlock set up the phone again and then continue with TWRP?
Anyone found followed guide that reliably worked? If so can you please link it?
I have 9Tpro with global ROM V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM
Thanks

My Kernel installation modification: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OOYpjDCPeCEcB4fa9YwxjxYAEy5tyy4O
Step by step
1. Install any port rom like my PE
2. Install Magisk (I used Magisk 16)
3. Install kernel
4. Use Aex12 mod TWRP command "a1to5x"
5. Reboot
P/S: after boot the first time you should install Magisk again to get root and Magisk

Yes, custom ported rom from MiA1.
Still not working. I've tried every possible way. Even to add the kernel and ramdisk files to my boot.img and flash the boot.img again. I'm using AospExtended V5.4 [2018-05-05].
What i tried:
* Reboot to recovery -> Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik/System from recovery -> Flash kernel zip via TWRP -> Flash ROM & GApps -> Reboot to system
* Reboot to recovery -> Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik/System from recovery -> Flash kernel zip via TWRP -> Terminal: a1to5x -> Reboot to recovery -> Flash ROM & GApps -> Reboot to system
* Reboot to recovery -> Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik/System from recovery -> Flash kernel zip via TWRP -> Terminal: a1to5x -> Flash ROM & GApps -> Reboot to system
* Reboot to recovery -> Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik/System from recovery -> Flash ROM & GApps -> Flash kernel zip via TWRP -> Terminal: a1to5x -> "installing not from a1" -> Reboot to system
* Reboot to recovery -> Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik/System from recovery -> Flash ROM & GApps -> Flash kernel zip via TWRP -> Terminal: a1to5x -> "installing not from a1" -> Reboot to recovery -> Flash ROM again -> Reboot to system
* Unpack stock boot.img -> add franco-kernel and ramdisk files -> repack -> flash kernel via twrp & adb / fastboot -> mi logo
Any suggestions?

Wrong ROM, friend. You must use ported rom from Mi A1 instead of built one for Mi 5X. You can try my ported Pixel Experience at https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5x/how-to/8-1-port-mi5x-t3766894

You can't update it to pie until it's an official update, you need to wipe and install a custom rom.
1. Setup fastboot on a computer or other android phone(search guide for your OS)
2. turn on dev mode in android (spam tap build info in android settings)
3. enable oem unlocking in new dev menu in android settings
4. enter bootloader mode on phone
5. run "fastboot oem unlock" (erases all data)
6. follow onscreen prompt
7. got back into bootloader
8. flash twrp with "fastboot flash recovery IMAGEFILE.IMG".
9. Reboot into twrp
10. go to wipe and format system, cache, and data
11. reboot twrp
12. copy rom, and optionally gapps, magisk, nanodroid, etc zips to phone
13. install rom, then the other zips if wanted
14. reboot

It's the password for hardware full disk encryption. Double check the rom you chose works with that, some only support software. Alternatively you can format data in TWRP after making a backup and copying to another device, or usb.
I don't have any encryption password. The device is encrypted by default.

Most likely the rom doesn't support hardware encryption.

Stuck on Mi Logo

Hi All,
i tried few methods and even search through the first 10 pages "Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers", but still couldn't find an explanation.
Details
Phone: xiao mi 9 global version
bootloader: unlocked
TWRP: 3.3.1-0 , and still able to access now.
Phenomenons:
1. miui 11 -> unlock -> install TWRP -> format data(/sdcard/ is encrpted), flash custom rom(failed) -> flash back stock rom -> working fine
2. phone is working fine after flash back to original rom( downgraded to miui10)
Unlock bootloader -> sign out MI Account -> factory reset -> install Twrp -> /sdcard/ is not encrypted. then install https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/development/rom-evolution-x-2-1-t3970831 -> boot loop xiao mi logo -> go to twrp found /sdcard/ encrypted -> format data -> install again -> still boot loop xiao mi logo.
Can i ask what did i missed? i still not able to run any custom rom(android 10,9).

Question Question about OTA update zip file

My phone M2102K1G came with IN ROM as I bought the phone in India during launch.
I unlocked bootloader and flashed Xiaomi.eu's fastboot ROM which is based on CN ROM and my model was then M2102M1C. I didn't like the Xiaomi.eu ROM and switched to Global MI fastboot Rom. Rooted as well. Very happy with this
I did not fastboot flash TWRP and left my phone on stock recovery. I have tested fastboot boot TWRP and that works well though the initial language (TWRP) is Chinese and you have to first switch the language to English. I haven't flashed anything via TWRP as yet.
My question is:
OTA zip file (Global MI Rom)
Can i flash it via TWRP?
Even though my phone is for the India IN region?
And if I can flash it via TWRP, then do I immediately flash with Magisk zip as well to keep root?
Thanks to anyone who had the patience to read through this and can hopefully reply.
In case you want update a stock ROM without TWRP and keep root throughout the updates here is my guide to do so.
Download on your phone latest recovery package manually from trusted websites. You can find the ROMs and firmware specific for your device on here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/star/ remember to download the recovery version
Disable magisk modules and reboot
Upon reboot go to settings->system version->Miui(top left button)-> in the updater click several times on the main icon to unlock hidden settings->once unlocked tap on the three dots on the top right and select "choose update package"->browse your folder to find the downloaded recovery package, select it and press the V button on the bottom->update will start->wait until completion and reboot
Once rebooted follow the procedure to flash magisk.zip
Reboot the phone into fastboot
Connect phone to the pc
Boot into twrp
Once in twrp flash dalvik and cache
Flash magisk.zip and rewipe dalvik and cache
Reboot system and voila

Ok thanks.
I'm definitely gonna follow these steps the next time I get an OTA update.
Don't need to be rooted to flash boot TWRP is it?
No, you don't need, but you don't flash twrp, you just boot into twrp
If I have a unlocked and rooted phone with stock recovery, what happens if I just update normally via the stock update procedure? Will it not work?
Without disabling Magisk or anything and just updating.
Honestly I don't know but I can say that magisk wasn't fully working after updating without reflashing it
Okay.
So I cannot flash the OTA zip.
But have to update using the full recovery ROM for the updated version.
And then flash Magisk via fastboot boot TWRP

How will I get boot.img from the recovery ROM?
Only fastboot ROM will have boot.img
I think you have a bit of confusion, only thing you have to di is download magisk.zip on your phone, boot into twrp and flash it, simple

Yes, you will probably have to reinstall Magisk as root will more than likely be broken. The update server still sees a stock rom and as long as you have stock recovery, the stock OTAs will work.
The guide posted above explains properly the steps. Will try that next time around.

TWRP disappeared after restart > solution?

Hello together,
I have the problem that TWRP is disappeared after a restart. I installed TWRP with this steps:
1. adb reboot bootloader
2. fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.3.2B-0302-XIAOMI_CC9-CN-wzsx150.img
3. fastboot oem reboot-recovery
TWRP is now installed, but after a reboot the default recovery is back. I had the problem before and therefore installed Magisk from TWRP. This was the only way TWRP was preserved as a recovery. I don't want Magisk anymore because I don't want root.
Thanks in advance
