Hello, guys!
Today something came up to my mind and I was wondering if you know anything about this...
A couple of months ago I changed to my actual mobile company (Entel), i was using WOM, but the thing is that I saw in SamMobile that there is an update available days ago for S10 and I can't receive it being in Entel, I'm always checking for new updates but there's nothing, I think that when WOM releases it I will be able to have it, but the question is...
Does anybody know how could I change this? Does it happen in your countries? If I'm registered in their servers as a client I would receive the update, wouldn't I?

firmware releases are put out incrementally by IMEI, but in the interim, if you want to update manually, you can. And yes, this also happens in the USA. I would not recommend downloading the firmware directly from sammobile.com/fimwares tho only because they take such a long time. Samfirm and Frija are both tools that download firmware literallt 5 times faster. it takes about 2 hours when diwnloading directly from sammobile vs about 20 min on samfirm or frija (ive used both many times and theyre literally the same)

hey guys, anyone know where / when the 6.1 software will be available for the Tilt?
I was told in the month of July, however I have visited the htc site and no 6.1 update is available, any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Chris
I read this morning on another forum that someone had talked to an Att rep and its looking like mid August. Not sure of the validity of it though
there are alot of great 6.1 options here. look around you may find out that they are better than "official" roms.
dude official wm6.1 available since February 2008! check this out

All of the WM6.1 roms for AT&T are leaked/pre-released/testing version. AT&T hasn't released its Official WM6.1 as of yet. No one really seems to know for sure (AT&T included) as to when they will ship out their 6.1 rom. I've heard July (which has passed), August, and September, as well as the cynical "Never".
Your best way of knowing is that it'll most likely be a few months after everyone else has done it and moved on.
edit: Just to add some more hearsay, check out the AT&T forum here. Some say AT&T is preparing their support staff for 6.1 questions. If true, then it's a positive note. But once again, this is all hearsay till there's an official note from AT&T. And even then it's not set in stone.
Ok XDA, step up!
LOL...come on you guys, there are confirmed reports that the "official" at&t roms have been spotted in the tilt. You mean you guys haven't been able to find one
to hack into yet? LOL....
Just kidding. After the "official" tilt rom comes out, I'll think if I want that or one of the cooked ones. I don't know if I want to bother with a cooked one. If my phone goes down, I'm screwed. I use pocket word, outlook, excel, acrobat dozens of times a day. I go through screen protectors (I use the old style palm transcriber) about once a month or more.
Seriously...keep up the work you cookers!
Dont Know
I spoke to ATT CS regarding same last week. She told me that , Its available with ATT but she is not sure when we will get it. Other thing she told me was to check the windows update in the phone, whenever they wil make it official for upgrade we can get upgrade via windows update.
I dont know if any other reason is there, but hope to get it ASAP, and looking forward to explorer 6.1
Cheers!

Whats really funny about this is that my local ATT Store now has signs next to the Tilt saying "Now Loaded with WM 6.1" or something like that, listing the threaded texting and other benefits. I asked the rep what the deal was and he said it would be available shortly, so I asked why the sign was out now and he said because they were told to put them out.

I've never been able to get WU to work. Tried data connection & wi-fi, always says the same thing...connection with server cannot be established, or something similar.

To date MS has done nothing with the update function.
WM6.1 will require a complete ROM replacement and there is no way they can do this via an update downloaded to the phone. Like the other ROM update from earlier this year, when this is officially available it will be posted for download on HTC's site and will need to performed from a connected PC.

Yes, i have talked to the people from HTC, and when it is ready which 'should be soon' then go to www.htc.com -> pick your country -> support -> choose your phone -> updates
Its out on the UK O2 site, just found it. Now if I install it I will have to re install all my apps and stuff again wont I ?
Any way I can make a complete back up of my phone and the apps as is , so I can go back to my 'working ' set up if I come up with problems ?
Thanks

neither of these links go anywhere
I was at a blog this morning and it was stated there that the ROM was at the HTC.com site stated above. As everyone knows, it is not there now. Although one of the comments on the page states the following that I found interesting: "HTC had the ROM upgrade available breifly. Then they removed the upgrade but left the page declaring that 6.1 was available. Now the page that was declaring WM6.1 is gone and refers to the WM6.0 rom from February. A few people had success in getting the 6.1 ROM image." Whether or not this is true can not be determined, but at least it gives me hope that it may be released soon (although we have seen this happen many times in the past).
My source for this info: http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/arch...-6-1-upgrade-for-at-t-tilt-now-available.aspx
if anyone downloaded it, I can't figure out why it hasn't made its way over here somewhere. From the looks of the post count on the at&t forum site, there are 2,352,465.5 people waiting for it LOL.
Try it now -

I've downloaded and installed 3 completely different versions of Swype (WVGA854, WVGA800, and HVGA) on various handsets over the last couple of months and all of them expired this morning. The keyboard still pops up, but as soon as you try to swipe a word on it you get a trial expiration message. My phone is like an unusable hunk of worthless plastic without Swype because I've grown so dependant on it. I would pay $50 for a genuine license without hesitation if they would just let me.
Does anybody have a still-working version of Swype for the Nexus One that they might be able to point me towards a download for? There are download pages all over the internet and all over these forums, but since all of mine just expired a few hours ago there's no way of knowing if any of those will still work unless they are dated today.
Same thing happened just a min ago on my MT3G. In for info.
Checked this thread by any chance?
Tried that thread, installed the .apk but it's expired too
Edit: I'm a noob. The file from uploading.com is the older version. Just follow the updated section and you're good.
Anybody checked this thread?

That thread hasn't any posts in 28 pages of anyone who actually received an over the air update.
OP: your thread I think is a good one.
I have not received an over the air update (which DOESN"T mean "manually downloaded over the internet from a fileserver" but sent to the phone direct from google. Also I don't expect it for several days to a week or so.
A lot of people, including myself, purchased a nexus device specifically because we wish to not have to hassle with manually updating roms and manual updates due to not having the latest operating system on a phone. So we are waiting on google to send it out. Within 2 weeks we will all have it.

My quote to the thread was, actually, for this reason:
Rollouts are conducted in phases. Typically they start at 1% of devices for around 24 - 48 hours; we watch the return rates and resulting device checkins and error reports (if any), and make sure nothing looks wrong before sending it to more. Then typically it goes to 25%, 50%, 100% over the course of a week or two.
What the percentages mean is that when your device checks in, it has a 1% chance (for example) of being offered the OTA. If it doesn't (randomly) get an offer, it will never get an offer until the next batch.
IOW, once your device checks in and gets turned down, that's it until the next batch. Mashing on the "check for updates" button just causes your device to check in again, and get automatically turned down again. Think about how that makes your device feel! WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE PHONES?!
That said, once the new batch does start, hitting that button does give you a new roll of the dice -- but once. Since devices usually only check in for system updates every 24 hours (I think? Certainly on a many-hours basis) this can get you your shot sooner than it would happen on its own.
So, mash away. Just be patient, and mashing on it more often than once or twice a day isn't going to gain you anything.
Edit: also, keep in mind that this isn't first-come/first-served. You're not racing other devices to get your slot in the current batch, or something. -Dan Morrill

So, you just need to wait a bit.
OK. I have seen so many of the "you dumb***, why don't you download the file and root and... like the real people here do" threads that I incorrectly assumed your post was of the same caliber. Obviously I was wrong so my apologies.
Good advice.
I do not think the OTA was even released yet if it was someone somewhere would have gotten it

It seems that the OTA has not been released and will be probably in the next days
I look forward to this update

I for one welcome this thread as I'm waiting for the ota update for my stock unrooted N5, I hope this doesn't mean I'm taken less seriously in the future as we all had to start learning to root somewhere and sometime.
I'm in UK with no update.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
As someone in another post said - the update has probably been uploaded, but not officially pushed through to all Nexus 5 users. I'm sure it will happen shortly.
El Daddy has an excellent sticky thread [INFO] Nexus 5 OTA Help-Desk which explains how to sideload an OTA to your stock/unrooted device. This is fully supported method provided by Google themselves. The OTA can be downloaded direct from Google servers and if it was tampered with, it wouldn't pass signature checks.
They have also had engineers explain how their OTA rollouts work, including expected time frames.
What all this means is there's no reason for us to try and reverse engineer this process anymore and therefore this thread's only purpose is chatter that amounts to nothing

So, there are always a lot of forum threads where people complain they haven't got the update yet, but i want to know if anyone knows how they work. I don't really want guesses, but maybe someone knows something from Sony on how the updates, especially via the PC companion software, work. What i do know is this:
1) It's not by model number - my C6903 doesn't have 4.3 yet
2) It's not by country - other ppl in the Netherlands have posted getting theirs
I don't care too much about OTA, i could imagine that's a staged rollout based on carriers and bandwidth, so there are a lot more variables. As a developer, i also get the concepts of slowly pushing stuff out, but what i don't get is why it'd be a staged rollout via the PC Companion, and I don't see a pattern of the staged rollout.
Any ideas?
G
I can only part answer in the case of carriers. Firmware is given to the carrier, they need to test it and then approve it, make any changes they need (bloatware usually). Once that's been done its then sent back to Sony to roll out. I know that Samsung will release updates in bulks of IMEI numbers, not sure if Sony also uses this method. I know its only a part answer, sorry couldn't be more help.
I purchased a G6 Project-Fi edition.
Re-flashed it to stock. Now my software channel is "na"
The phone is stuck on the May update (OPS27.82-72)
When I try to update it says it's up to date.
What does the software channel "na" mean?
How can I get it to a software channel that receives OTA updates?
Also how can I do this all without data loss?
first: why did you re-flash to stock and how did you do that? what's your phone model and what was the build number before you re-flashed it?
If you use a Project-Fi phone as an unlocked phone, text and other features do not work.
I used build OPS27.82-72 found on XDA. Still does not answer what the "na" channel is or how I can flash to another build without data loss.

You really should answer peoples questions. They are trying to help you.
As for the phone, again, why are you flashing stock? The Project-Fi variant is most likely stock anyways other than a Project-Fi app possibly(pretty sure there is one to manage your service but I may be wrong.
What is the software channel? It tells carriers what region of the world your phone is designed for. For example, if it is set to retla, this is a Latin American channel and would not receive carrier updates if you were using it on a US-based carrier. I am pretty confident a google search for "software channel android" would have answered your question about 7 hours ago when you asked it. Why wait 7 hours for a response when Google can instantly answer your question. Even if you have to check out a few sites to get a proper answer, it is faster than waiting 8 hours on a response.
Now with that said, you can try booting into your bootloader and execute this command:
Code:
fastboot oem config carrier retus
Reboot and see if that changes anything.
It would be a good idea to link to the thread containing the firmware you flashed as well.

Man, between you and the first guy, I'm not even sure why I bother to ask the question. Last I checked the title of the forum was Questions and Answers...
I've got the question part down, but seems like I cannot get a straight answer.
My question, what does the software channel "na" mean? I know what a software channel is and how it works. I'm not asking that, what I am asking is what does the channel "na" represent.
If your so confident in Google, use it to answer my question... I tried with no avail. I got close with this article, https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/help/identify-software-channel-t3555285 , but na was not listed.
Also I can wait, 7 hours, 7 day, who cares as long as I can get an answer and not some snarky comments.
Now to answer some more questions that do not help to get me an answer...
The Project-Fi version is more than an unlocked phone with an app. I thought the same as well, but when you put in a SIM card from another carrier text messages do not work. (Even with the correct APN settings). My guess it has to do with the way the service bounces from one carrier to another.
I don't remember the firmware I flashed, it was months ago. I do know it was signed and official Moto firmware.
Thank you for the fastboot command, I will try that and see what it does.

You don't see it listed because it's not a an actual channel. It means n/a as in not applicable. Given nothing works somebody such as yourself should be able to figure this out and realize something is wrong with your radio software or hardware wise. Maybe it's because you swear the Moto G6 fi is different than all the others G6's and you flashed firmware from a standard G6 which has different hardware? But if that's the case tell me what the specs are of the G6 fi vs the G6? You only need to list the differences.
There is a number of reasons I asked for the link to stock. However since you want to be have an attitude, and you have all the answers(research the G6 fi vs the G6 and you will understand) I guess you don't need to post here for help. You should have all the answers already.
BTW, how'd that fastboot command work out?
Sent from my Moto G6 Plus using XDA Labs
I never said "nothing works", What I said is the Project-Fi variant does not work as an unlocked phone. Calls and data work, but messages do not. It's even on its own Project-Fi software channel. Hardware wise its all the same. I would love to know how the Project-Fi phones handle SMS that is different that an unlocked phone, but that wasn't the question asked.
Now, once the phone was flashed to a non-Fi firmware everything works. Well, just not updating. My guess is since the phone does not have a valid channel it cannot update.
Phone is out of my posestion at the moment, hence why no update, but as soon as I get it back I will let you know.
Quick question, the bootloader is locked, I assume the fastboot command needs an unlocked bootloader?
