Just downloaded the latest WW 1907.33 update from official Asus website, moved it to root folder, rebooted, phone detected the update and then failed. Phone is not rooted or bootloader unlocked, absolutely stock on the 1906.19 rom. OTA doesn't show any updates. Solution?

Thanks, in other words if your phone was originally CN and the seller flashed WW forget about OTA updates unless you root, unlock bootloader, flash and so on.

I think the seller flashed the WW without changing the vendor file wish resulted in missing 1 step to full conversion or close to. If you want to stay on the WW rom you only need to change the vendor file to WW from CN and afterwards to unroot, lock bootloader for OTA to work. Simply follow the guide.
I am going to have a lot of fun tomorrow when I get my phone. Hopefully it comes with WW and all is good to go. On AT&T in USA.

I'm in the same boat. I just followed this thread and did everything right when restoring my stock ROM for Sprint. The only thing I didn't do was lock the bootloader. I cannot do OTA updates, fails every time. Someone mentioned a few pages in that thread, that right now it's a 50/50 chance due to an unknown variable. Give the forum time we will get it

I'll try tonight after the Gym and see if I can get it to update for me

For me, that variable is twrp. If I flashall to stock I can take the ota, then resinstall twrp and root after. Worked today too.
I was going to install LineageOS and just gave up on it lol. So I flash-all'd back to stock and the OTA worked this time.
So is there a method for clean flashing or i just flash over a rom using fastboot? I tried flashing a retail rom on my tmobile variant, it work but some things were broken.

which flashall did you use? I'm trying to do this too and it fails no matter what. did you also re-lock the boot loader for the ota to work?
I've tried unlocked and locked and it still doesn't take the OTA for me.

This phone is really weird. I got the update to work the very first time I flashall but twrp bootlooped and it won't install after the second flashall, tried multiple times.
This phone is really software wonky

When the update first came out, the December path I think, it was simply generic Android security updates, nothing specific to our phone or fixes, at least for the TMobile version

Sorry saw the screenshot just now, possibly you missed an OTA that you need before this one will work.
Hi, to update download the ROM from Asus website and move the file from the download folder to the Root folder. Reboot your phone and you will get a notification to update.
To update OTA, download and install this app:

Hi I've tried using the app and downloaded the update (322mb). but gave me the same error - update failed when prompt to update. for now I update using the fastboot using raw fimware.
Hi, in that case I don't think your phone is fully converted. I had the same issue as you however after changing the fingerprint to WW (had to unlock bootloader & root) all software updates worked for me. If your bootloader is still unlocked, re-lock it and un-root. Updates should start working then
Hello,
I have a rather uncommon question: I'd like to fully revert back to CN, including re-locking bootloader. I'm currently on 1910.35 WW, fingerprint fully converted to WW. Should I do as follow:
- Root using magisk,
- Change fingerprint back to CN
- Flash RAW file of CN ROM (1910.52)
- Wipe, relock bootloader
Is this procedure correct, or should I do/ download something else? Do I need boot/root img as well? If so, could someone please guide me to where I could find a CN RAW package along with corresponding boot/root img?
Thanks!
Why you want to go back to CN I want to convert to WW coz I want a 10 and classic theme ? and multi language! Now even if you go back to CN you will never get any OTA updates from Asus you should download it.

Why wouldn't I get any OTA, if my IMEI is still the same? Apparently, OTA is dependable on your IMEI and not your the version of your system/fingerprint.
Anyway, I work in China, and when I go back there sometime, I will need my phone to be fully converted back. Converting your phone to WW is easy, there are many tutorials already in this forum.
Which way is better with root or without root ( via EDL ) method ?

Hello,
I have bought a Mi 11 yesterday version M2011K2G,
I found out that the bootloader was unlocked on it, but when I check it has a global ROM installed already on it,
the thing is that it's not making any update, so I guess it's not an original ROM ?
I want to put back the original ROM and lock the bootloader back in order to have updates,
can you please help me on how I can do this without breaking the phone ?
or I'm I not getting the updates just because the bootloader is unlocked and if I lock it I will get them back ? I'm just scared if I lock it back the phone will break,
or you think I should install back the ROM and lock it back to get everything better ?
Thanks !

Normally an unlocked bootloader has no affort to the update. How did you get notice about that? If your bl is really unlocked I would stay with that.
Are you maybe on latest version? Can you take a screen shot of settings - my device - All secs

I know it's unlocked cause I see the unlocked "padlock" when I restart the phone, other than this I don't have any idea of what modification could have been done to it since I'm used to use my phone the way they come with, thats why I want to get it back to stock ROM or get the updates to make sure it's all good

It's interesting that rkbeusf is nowhere to find.
Well unzip the fastboot file put the fastboot files from miui into it and try the installation without locking

I mean, is there any way to lock it back ?

I never used mi flash, sorry.
My first step on new phones are always to unlock the bootloader so I can flash root and restore the apps with titanium.
And I got always updates through Ota.
I switched to xiaomi.eu rom, because it was faster with miui 12.5

thanks man, I will try install this ROM you gave me, I have noticed that when I make "download latest packages" it directly says "impossible to download..."
I wonder why it's doing this
Sorry if I misunderstood you, but you will have to scroll down until you see fastboot then a bit more to 'full rom' and click on the blue button
Edit:
Tested it right now and it works fine for me (download started)
Edit 2:
Seems to work with MI flash tool too:
Found on the mitool side:
Step 1: Download the correct Fastboot ROM on the Windows PC by double-checking the compatibility. Then extract and get the workable extensions on the PC (use the Rom above)
Step 2: installation bla bla
Step 3: too
Step 4: too
Step 5: Then attach the ROM file
Step 6: Switch Xiaomi device into the Fastboot mode. So turn off the device and simply take a long press and hold the keys of Volume Down and Power keys
Step 7: Then connect the device to the PC with a proper USB cable which is in the Fastboot mode
Step 8: Now you can enter the tool interface and check whether the device is connected
Step 9: Then select the most suitable flashing option from all three “Flash all”, “Flash all except storage” and “Flash all except data and storage”
Step 10: Hit flash from the top of the window and wait for several minutes
Step 11: Once the process is done you can reboot and finalize the process successfully.

thanks bro it worked, it now checks the updates and make them when they're available, my wife won't ask the divorce finally haha
one last question and I leave you,
my phone is a 12gb 256 (chinese) if I install that same ROM I installed, will I get autoupdates on it or that version can only update on it's chinese ROM ? any idea ?
For my understanding it will work too. The 12 GB ram is EU is not available but it's only additional ram and does not have an other rom.
... So if you can install and use your phone with that rom you will have no issues with updates

Be careful, don't lock bootloader with a global or EEA ROM on CN hardware, you will brick your phone.
Take care when using Miflash with CN flashed to global. Now you are on production software, best to stay there unless you want to install custom ROMs. OTAs should work now. 12.5.1.0 is the latest for EEA.

You should never relock bootloader if any non-stock is installed. This will surely brick the device.
If you restore EVERYTHING back to stock (recovery, ROM, etc.), then you can relock the bootloader.
