Oh Yes you are right. I am flashing this rom now
Thx
It works really great but for me when it comes with modified icons and menus with the webpage with pics its not "real" AOSP.

Yes it work smooth and nice . Also the camera back to normal
the best rom actually...
How about led notification, vibration, slow motion, compass and focus?
yeah, what about bugs?
just installed this version. Still no vibration for now. Camera is working smoothly, running so fast and smooth. Don't know about battery duration.. hope it will be better than the stock one.
Could you report how the battery's doing? I'd be very interested

Battery is better than MIUI rom here
I just flashed it. It's incredible! Fast and snappy.
I'll test for tomorrow.. all day and I will report here my battery findings.
newbie question.... how do you flash this rom into redmi note 2? and I assume if I want to go back to MIUI, i just reflash using the fastboot method?
You can start here to get TWRP on it and then it is basically the same as always: http://en.miui.com/thread-152550-1-1.html
and if you want to go back to miui just create a Backup in TWRP once installed and copy it to your PC to be safe.
Fastboot is also fine if you want to do a complete clean install including default Miui recovery. Cheers.
nice, it has been long since I had something AOSP, thanks!
in any case, ROM seems to be running very smooth, no insights on the battery life yet.
few bugs are present though - adaptive brightness is really sensitive to light changes.
as everyone reported - no vibration
lock screen and screen timeout is somehow sketchy, but working.
notifications led seems to be working (atleast low battery and charging are shown)
camera is also working fine (no slowmo though)
Thanks for the replies!
I installed it tonight and so far it seems stable and very smooth. I'll report on batterylife later on

Hi guys...which rom is better for Xiaomi mi5 64gb? Previously i have MIUI 8, now i changed to RR 5.7.4...which is better? RR, AOSP, DU, other or MIUI 8?
It's up to you to find the ROM which suits you best. Some people love MIUI, some people don't...
All ROMs are good, some of them offer more customizing features and have more "power" for you to handle. Don't forget stability when rating a ideal ROM for you. If you want a daily driver, you surely want no bugs, and all things working. But, only you can evaluate that.
I recommed MIUI for stable and RR for customize
I been on miui for a while now but recently changed to cm13 I'm satisfied as hell, battery life is great and customization as well.
Skickat från min MI 5
I have a Mi5 32GB and have used MIUI 7/8, RR and CM13. Of the three MIUI is the worst (except battery life) and CM13 would be the best. The problem I had with RR was constant bootloops but it's customization is a tad bit better than that of CM. You can check out the official Nightly for CM13 here and flash it using a custom recovery like TWRP.
Personal preference plays a huge role here so I suggest you try each on your own and then select one. I have Xposed installed on my device so I don'y have to skimp on RR's customization features.
As was mentioned above - it's up to you. So you should try them (ROMs) by yourself because it's impossible to predicts what is more important for you and your evereday tasks.
I'm using MIUI rom (Xiaomi.eu 6.10.13 rom) because it works better with CDMA networks. Recently I've tested Official CM13 - Good rom, smooth, fast, very good battery life. But I didn't like how it works with networks (CDMA+GSM/UMTS).
Thats why I restored to 6.10.13 rom

Definitely Stock ROM.. Preferably EU, as its based on Stock.. Because, CM builds are still under development as in Nightlies..

Considering the amount of apps installed and the ones installing additionally, and the wakelocks are factors for battery duration.. CM has very few system apps compared the stock or any stock based.

Does the MIUI have German language? If no (which I am assuming/reading) does the CM13 or a custom ROM have this?
Also I am still searching for the "how to get TRWP onto my new phone post" (yes I have been searching) so would appreciate if someone could post me a link, thnaks!

The best MIUI rom if you want German language is xiaomi.eu one. Why? While Global Stable MIUI does have german language, xiaomi.eu is basically chinese version with Google Play and no chinese crap. Chinese Version gets updates more often than global version. Here is the link with the installation guide (TWRP installation guide included).
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...r-xiaomi-mi5-unlocked-bl-only-released.31231/
Idle battery drain on MIUI 8 (.eu) stable for me is mostly 0.0%/h over night, according to GSAM Battery monitor. That's after freezing most of the system apps with SD maid.
Day-to-day usage is ~1.9%/h, listening to music over BT for about 6h, browsing, whatsapp. So, a charge lasts 2 days for me.
I don't think CM would make much difference there, and personally, I like MIUI.
Custom roms for Xiaomi Mi5 are quite good if you don't need camera, if you are happy to use your phone as a single sim phone, if you love to actually press the home button.

For what it's worth, I can use my Mi5 as a dual sim phone just fine under CM13... Nothing wrong with the CM camera as well. Only "problem" is the lack of the capacitive home button, I'll give you that.
Personally, between having to deal with the crappy MIUI notification implementation and the lack of tap home button, I chose the latter

The bug when the battery reach 5%, data connectivity keep dropping off, Bluetooth connections the same, camera issues, dual sim issues. Those are just few issues reported by people on last 2-3 pages of CM thread. Don't get me wrong...i do appreciate developers job. And their work it's more difficult because Xiaomi just released the kernel source code. And only partially. But today, 30th of October 2016, there's absolutely no custom rom without having something broken. Is MIUI perfect? Not at all. As you said, the way MIUI is handing notifications it's far to be handy. But stability and functionality wise, no custom rom can match MIUI today.
Love miui don't know why everyone hates on it.
Will flash cm 13 if it gets stable and see if I like it more on my mi5. If miui 9 gets released before cm 13 gets stable though I won't.
Well Vladimir, not everybody is facing those bugs. I am not (the 5% battery one I would probably, but who cares!) That's why I am not updating the build in currently on Fantastic experience and solid enough to make it as my daily driver.
But I totally get what you mean! Flashing such experimental ROMs isn't for everyone, I would most def. agree with that and would not necessarily recommend it if you don't want to have to deal with some odd bugs once in a while. And yes, MIUI is a very solid and polished skin (certainly not bug-free tho!!)It's just a little bit too "iOSy" for me.

Mainly because of stupid(the worst) notification system I guess.
Yesterday I got mi5 prime and I'm absolutely frustrated because of several issues.
hate the miui since I used to cm, aosp roms and lg skin. wanted to give miui a try but so far it is not working..
and the main issue is very low volume with the 3.5mm headphone jack with the global rom.. it is totally frustrating. I've heard some people say Chinese dev rom's sound quality is great with much higher volumes.. is it true ? I don't want to root the phone just now and install Lineage or other custom rom since phone is still under the warranty.
And the wifi reception is also terrible with the global rom, does Chinese dev rom has much better wifi reception ?
other than that miui user experience is a nightmare compared to stock or lg, samsung skins.
so can I at least fix the sound, wifi issues by going to the Chinese dev rom ? or any way to fix those issues without rooting for now ?
Yes you can try Chinese dev ROM ,it has better sound and increased volume than global and I think wifi it will be fixed with that. Personally I recommend xiaomi.eu roms

At the moment, I believe that Miui Pro is the best. I just installed it yesterday. It has so many additional features that I can't begin list them all, and there is no doubt in my mind that it has the absolute best battery life.
My first choice was Pixel Experience , but I didn't find options I was after, then moved to Havoc for about a week - too many options, issues with notifications and fingerprint working erraticly on online banking (issues with magisk perhaps). Now I'm settled with crDroid for now and found this quite good, Still have lineageos and few others to try. I'm wondering if any of the ROMs will show led notifications while connected to a charger?

What is the last version for mi8?...Otas updates?...Weekly updates?
thanks!!!
I don't have much time to test all those ROMs, so I always choose stable MIUI ROM. I tried xiaomi.eu ROM, but battery didn't last more than 1 day and SOT was about 4 hours. Then I installed Mi Room and it works like a charm. The developer also maintains own TWRP, brings always fresh news about Xiaomi brand on his page. The major drawback is that the site is fully russian. But google translate will do the job. With this ROM I have SOT about 8 and more hours, Wifi, BT, GPS, data always on.

Then don't.
I mean I know that you know this already. But you don't have to flash a new Rom every week. Just resist the urge. I will try Mi-Room sometime. But at the moment Miui Pro is truly one of the best Rom's that I have ever used. According to GSam just now, SOT is 9 hours and 58 minutes
I stopped flashing weekly doing because it becomes too much like an addiction and takes too much of my free time away from other more important things like yelling at my kids........joking.

No its based on Beta.
Personally, I prefer the beta. But as you know you will occasionally see bugs.
I have been using the beta roms on my Mi8 for about 3 months. Honestly I only see bugs occasionally and if there is a bug, I just dirty flash back to the prior release.

I am going to bed, so I will have to give the list later. Pretty much everything you can imagine. For example, everything that I have seen in Miui Roms from Nougat up through Pie. But all incorporated within a Pie Rom. What is really useful, is the Smart Network options, the extra connections timers and battery savings scripts that go well beyond typical Miui. Plus Miu Pro has the menu animations from Nougat, not sure if you know those, the folding, unfolding, overshoot etc. It doesn't do much but its a neat looking novelty, your can import any theme, as I have mentioned the battery life is phenomenal.
I need to sleep now. Yes, I definitely love that Rom. But I will check out the ew Mi-Room rom too since I have tried it yet.

Hi Rajeev, I messaged you.
The most current version is 9.5.9. However, It is my understanding that Miui Pro is only updated monthly and 4PDA has been a great resource for me. As you may know, it's very difficult getting past the Cyrillic captcha on 4PDA so I joined the site with help from a Russian friend.
For the benefit of other readers I will reiterate something I said to you privately
I assume that OTA is one of the benefits from having a subscription.
With that being said, I have dirty flashed Miui Pro and other EU weekly beta custom roms with zero issues
Flash, dont root yet / boot to system / update google store apps / reboot to recovery/ then flash Magisk/ Enjoy
Finally, Miui Pro is so very good so I definitely recommend that any interested parties check it out. If anyone can afford the OTA subscription, I am sure that the developers would really appreciate your support. Otherwise, I know that updates via 4PDA have been ongoing for a long time, because I have used them on my other devices. Because of the long-term consistency with 4PDA updates, I have always assumed the updates posted on 4PDA are from the developers themselves and the link that I posted a couple of days ago is always updated with the latest Miui pro ROM releases as the become available.
I will most likely go for Syberia, once my Mi 8 can be unlocked, with Pixel Experience and LineageOS being the backup options.
First and foremost, I look for a ROM that provides a fast experience, good battery life and stability. Customisation options beyond that what AOSP offers are welcome, but not a necessity.
What would you guys suggest, given I don't want to use MiUI-based ROMs.
Hello All
I want to know what is the best custom rom currently for the k20 Pro
I saw some ROMs like PE, unofficial LOS, Havoc , etc
The problem that most of them have some issues like some have FP , others have audio & BT, others have Front CAM issues in GCAM , others have brightness calibration issues, etc
also what is FOD as i saw this word a lot and there is some bug regarding it
Hence my main question , Is there is a reliable custom rom out there and can offer smooth daily driver experience
Or shall i stick with the boring miui till later on ?
I used to have crDroid on my POCO and custom ROM was flying with the POCO
The best answer would come from someone who tried MIUI then tried mulltiple custom ROMS so he will be aware of the comparison
As far as I know, on ALL custom rom FP... just sucks compared to stock miui.

What is FP issue?
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk
Can anybody share an update to this topic? Are there still a lot of issues in every custom rom? I'm considering buying a Mi 9T Pro but don't like MIUI. So I would like to know if there are some stable Android 10 roms out there for daily use.
Thank you.
PS: I think FP issue means issues with slow finger print sensor.
LOS / HavocOS
I'm happy with 11.0.3 by MIUI.eu. Has MIUI 11, bloatware removed, and is built on Google 10. Add a Pixel launcher and you can skip MIUI if you do not like MIUI interface.
I have tried few roms and now i am on MiRoom 9.10.31. As far this is the most stable rom. Here is no issues at all and also the experience is quite smooth.
FP and FOD is the same thing which means Finger print and Finger on display.
Next i will be waiting for Oxygen OS which is under development and Havoc OS with android Q. Dont want anything now with android pie.
You will receive also weekly update on MiRoom rom which is also helpful.
Thanks.
I don't think any of the 3rd party ROMs are perfect for this device yet. Hopefully xiaomi will soon release full source code and tree for this devices so developers will be able to maintain bug free roms in the future.

For this to have any meaning, you need to give your definition of how you define 'best'. Everyone has different criteria for what they want in the ROM.
They are more or less all stable, but all have very minor issues, but nothing that affects normal daily use.
My theory is look at the ROM threads. The most active will have the most users. They will have the most users because they have the least issues.
Any of the ROMs with very active threads are definitely good enough for daily use.
