I'm haven't Unlock or root my device yet, so currently on locked Bootloader and the latest Official Stable China Rom. I've sideloaded Google Apps but Play Store showing "Play Protect" Device is not certified. I can still download apps from Google Play Store but can't seem to get Google Pay (I can't add my debit card, it say my device may be rooted or unsecured) & some other apps to work properly, it kept saying my device isn't secured. Is there anyway around it without unlocking and rooting my device?

Hey guys.
I've been searching for quite a while but can't find a satisfying solution for this. I managed to update my fake MIUI shop rom to the official MIUI 8 dev rom. I am currently using the Chinese version as this was the only version I was able to flash as my bootloader is still locked.
I am now trying to install the Google apps. First way to try was downloading the Google installer v2 and let it run. Then I ended up in a loop where the Google apps stop responding repeatedly every some seconds. I then tried to factory reset and start from scratch. Same issue. I then updated the Google play store and play services from apk mirror. Now the error message is gone, but I still end up with an unusable play store.
It shows checking info now and is stuck at that stage. I tried emptying all cache and data. Doesn't help.
Do you guys have any idea?

I had to flash a dev china fastboot rom android 6 based .
Installed the 6 apks to enable google play services used them and updated them ... They auto update ( google playstore and google play services for sure) .
After all that was done i ota updated to miui based on android 7 and everything worked fine since the google play services were already there.
Thank you sir. That's what i did as well now. Luckily they gave me permissions to unlock the phone by now so i was able to flash the latest global rom which seems to work better with Google apps

Thats great for you BUT many of us are just not that skilled nor have we the opportunity to invest in all that is required in learning the skills for TWRP, Magisk and flashing ROMs etc.
Nothing offical from Xiaomi despite daily searches online by me...[can anyone confirm different???].
So we are frustrated and stuck with a Gapp-less Xiaomi Mi5 running MIUI 8.2.2 "stable-f*cknot!!" China ROM].
This is 4+ wks for me and Xaomi are so close to losing me and as a brand advocate after a 3 years, 2 mobiles otherwise happy relationship.
it is the same to me. and i have no idea
Hi everyone,
I bought my mi5 last year spring directly in China with Chinese stock rom. I used a frequently used Google installer from the official xiaomi app store. It worked perfectly fine until a month ago I discovered play store didn't updated itself since long time. It was stuck in "waiting for wifi". Only already installed apps could be updated. I tried allowing mobile data, clear caches and data from play store and Google play service, downloading updates manually for them both. But all in all it didn't help. Yesterday I tried force stop "google services framework" on an internet advice and that was stupid. Practically bricked play store "error retrieving data from server [RH-01]"
Atm I trying other Chinese Google installers.

hey thank you for your fast reply.
yeah that advice on the internet is common, but only solves if you wanna download via mobile data.
at the mean time i installed goplaycn. it seems to be the latest successful installer on the chinese market and looks pretty professional. It has even a deinstall google function.
here the list of the gapps version what it will download for you today:
google play services 10.2.99 (44-148249840)
google services framework 7.0
google play store 7.6.08.N-all [0] [PR] 149245622
google account manager 7.0
the new problem i got now: "stuck at checking info" same as this thread's Author.
i wanna try download all updates manually from apkmirror
Hi again,
i tried the manual updates and it didnt work. After checking goplaycn again I noticed an entry note. it says "for mi5 user who got stuck in checking info ... please enable in your google account installing less secure apps". I did it and it wouldnt work either or i misunderstood there something.
Anyway i found a pretty interesting thread on the chinese MIUI forum. The thread handles exact our problem on the same device and the thread was posted in march this year.
The solution is you have to root your phone and enable "setenforce permissive" and then use a chinese google installer.
Unfortunately it is completly in chinese http://www.miui.com/thread-7561698-1-1.html
i havent tried it myself, but apparently it has been successfully tested by many ppl. i will do it later maybe.
hi Tetrahybrid, did you ve fixed your problem? I have the same issue with my mi5 in miui 8.5.2. google store is locked at "checking info".
Problem Is From "host" File
Do It:
1.Root Via SuperSU SR5
2.Use Some Root Browser App Like Root Explorer,Or ES File Explorer
3.Go To /system/etc/host Delete "host"
4.Reboot
Your Problem Is Fixed Now!

Since latest Google Play Services update (14.7.99) that occured on 4th decembre 2018, my battery lasts only a couple of hours even if I am not using it. All Google Apps don't work anymore including Play Store.
When downgrading to version 14.5.82, everything works again but even if I disable automatic updates in Play Store, Google Play Services keeps updating itself to latest version without asking me any permission.
Is there a way to force block of Google Play Services update until a fix is found ?
Otherwise, does anyone can give me an updated guide for installing TWRP and an alternative ROM ?
I am using Flyme 6.2.0.0G. I have root access with SuperSU installed in system. Root access is confirmed with RootChecker. But I understood that this is not enough. Getting root access doesn't mean bootloader is unlocked, does it ? Is there a way checking bootloader is unlocked before trying to install TWRP ?
Thanks for any response you could give me.

There is a post on forum about unlocking bootloader and my tries on checking it on comments. See if it helps. Dont flash twrp without confirming bootloader unlock. Otherwise your recovery may lose and may cause brick.

I started to have this issue on 6/12/18. Google play services used 25% of my battery and I could not use any Google service. (It asked me to sign in again and again.)
I followed this guide (the flash recovery part is mistyped there, I needed fastboot flash recovery filename.xxx to install the new recovery). I downgraded to Flyme 4.5.2 (or whichever version allowed me root by signing in to Flyme), unlocked the recovery and installed AOSP. (CM12 had the same issue with google, Lineage OS didn't boot up.) When I sign in from AOSP, Google emails me that a login was made from a Meizu M6 Note. It thinks my device is safe. It even lets me download Netflix.
I also tried whitelisting my device and allowing less secure apps at Google while on CM, these didn't seem to help.

M2 is out. All new devices released on 2018 are google certified.
About it, custom rom doesn't work. Google Play Service does not work on Lineage Os.
Same here. I've tried to use custom Roms with Android 5.1, 7.1 and it's all the same.
On the other hand, I've got back to Flyme and the issue also occurs, but there's a slight difference. After the Play Store auto updates to v. 12.x.x. then it stops working (error 920 or can't log in). Resolution for this is to delete the Google account in Settings and add it again, yet this works for 5 minutes tops...
i am using stock china stable rom. i have install google apps but it say my device is not certified. because of this my home country's banking is not working. i know there is a way to make device certified using root access but for that i have to unlock the boat loader and then root the device. If i unlock the boat loader then i won't be able to use my Chinese bank apps.
So my question; is there any way to get the device certified without root access?
if you're talking about the google play protect certification - visible in play store settings:
uninstall google play store updates, clear all app data then start play store again and let it update again.

I didn't think you could get 'China' Google/Play Store certification due to Google not used in China and not included with the ROM? China ROMs have to install Google services and apps separately and disable the Chinese replacements.
I was assuming he had play protect certification prior to this but you might be right.
I randomly lost it on xiaomi.eu rom which is built from China sources and the above steps plus uninstalling/reinstalling magisk fixed it for me

Just use the Magisk module : MagiskHide Props Config
It works flawlessly
Steps:
Install Module
Install Termus
Reboot to system
Open Termus
Type Su > Press enter
Type : props > Press enter
Follow the onscreen instructions to change the key to a one that passes safety net ( For example, choose Xiaomi > Mi 8 > finished > you are welcome.

hi I have redmi 9t eea FIRMWARE but it indicate me the device is not google play certified how to remede this issue ? device note rooted , bootloader unlocked
Hi. After a quick search i couldn't find specific answers to my questions so i thought i'll ask here. Note that i'm not interested in flashing any other ROM on it, i want to keep it locked bootloader, on china rom only.
As i have seen on various YT videos, once i get the phone china ROM with locked bootloader, i need to install play store from the xiaomi app store. I see many people get random errors when they try to install, "can't downgrade apps".
1. I've seen workarounds to restore phone to factory settings or clearing something in settings and retrying. Can this just stop working one day?
2. Once i've installed play store, will the device be play store certified?
3. Say i update system software to MIUI 11, can play store just bug out, making me factory reset phone and redo the process again?
4. Will play store auto update itself, or can i update it from play store settings?
5. Will NFC work on china rom locked bootlader in Europe? Moreover, will banking apps allow me to install their apps, considering device may not be play store certified or just not compatible with china rom?
Thank you all for reading.

if unsure better to ask seller to install playstore for you before purchasing the phone , mine came with playstore preinstall , yes its certified , mpt yet received miui 11 update yet , cant advise , i think mine playstore was self updated , i have not used the nfc feature yet .
1. I've seen workarounds to restore phone to factory settings or clearing something in settings and retrying. Can this just stop working one day?
If you reset your phone, it will also delete playstore and googleplay and services apps.
2. Once i've installed play store, will the device be play store certified?
I hope so, if it isn't certified then you have to register your phone to google (Playstore) for certification. https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/ More here: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-fix-device-not-certified-by-google-error/
3. Say i update system software to MIUI 11, can play store just bug out, making me factory reset phone and redo the process again?
Yes, afaik you will have to install Playstore and other googleplay supporting apps again after OS updates.
4. Will play store auto update itself, or can i update it from play store settings?
Yes, it will auto update.
5. Will NFC work ...
Yes.
Does anyone know how to get Netflix working on a Rooted device? I found an older version on apkmirror that worked but it couldn't be updated through the Play Store. There's also the latest version that can be downloaded directly from Netflix but it tells me my device isn't supported when I open it.
Use Magisk Hide to hide root from Netflix. Works for me

I don't believe its directly related to root, as if you googled the problem it exists for lots of other people.

Play services is by default hidden in Magisk. You don't need to hide Play store, but it doesn't hurt even if you hide... Main thing is to clear data.. I suggest to clear data of play store and restart.. if that doesn't solve, clear data from both and restart... Clearing data of play store usually works for me..
