It shows updating all the time. Any way to get rid of it it's either messenger or Facebook.
What to do
Press the "X" button down...
I'm doing that but it keeps appearing again and again
I have the same problem. It consumption my battery I think.

I uninstalled Messenger and installed Lite. Also installed an older version of Facebook because I got the same popup for Facebook also..
Even chrome.
Same. A couple of weeks ago started with FB, so I've uninstalled it. It had continued with FB lite, messenger and chrome.
"Fixed" it by stopping chrome automatic updates.
Is this related with system webview?
Mine is "Feature for Lite"
I use FB Lite.
I am angry with that **** Even I turned off automatic update in Play Store
Me too!

I'm also having this issue. Facebook Lite or Messenger Lite are updating their files in the background, while Play updates are disabled, and even while I have both disabled/frozen with Titanium backup. How can this be? It's like a virus/trojan.

I updated the facebook app and I noticed that it's not synching my contacts anymore. I tried to go on the account & sync section of the settings and it doesn't allow me to add a facebook account. The option is there but when I press it nothing happens.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
I have had the same problem with CyanogenMod for a while.
I uninstalled Facebook, and installed it from market again. And voila!
However, to uninstall it i think you need to be rooted
no problem for that, I just installed cyanogenmod too thanks for the advice. this is a major problem though for whoever is not rooted....
I had the same problem. (search my threads).....
all I did was log off facebook app and log back into facebook app and it seems to be working fine now.
the facebook app isnt really consistent in general, maybe its just me, but it never alerts me even tho the notifications are ste to "on" and its not as robust as the iphone app but its all good it will happen sooner or later
Is this the remains of the facebook home launcher i tried or is the new updated facebook messanger service.
Check the attachment, the bit i have highlighted in RED appeared when a friend messaged me, and when I click on it it opens the FB messanger app, very similiar to the facebook home launcher. It closed when I tried a SS of it though, and I cant be bothered adb'ing to do it....
Its not a problem, I was just wondering..
this new feature may be disabled in options of FB Messenger app
I have a rooted KFHD7. SW is 7.4.3. I followed this thread to install Google Apps, and that thread essentially directed me to install these apps:
Account And Sync Settings-2.3.4.apk
Google Login Service-4.0.3-239410.apk
Google Play services-3.1.59 (736673-34) .apk
Google Play Store-4.1.10.apk
Google Services Framework-4.0.4-338691.apk
Vending.apk
I also installed Hangouts, Google+, etc.
Anyway, all my Google apps and Google push notifications are working fine. When I install the GMail apk (I just click it via ES File Explorer and I do not move anything to /system/app). it installs just fine. Upon launch of the app, it indicates that it is syncing, but never actually syncs. It just hangs (I waited several minutes).
I tried the latest GMail in the Play Store. I also tried version Gmail_4.5.2-714156.apk.
One I get GMail installed, my KFD will have all the GApps that I want on it. Any advice? Maybe I am using the wrong version or the wrong installation technique?
Thanks...
-T.
Have you tried it with notifications turned off? If it works then, then you're hitting a crash bug when Gmail tries to create notifications. There are a few fixes around the forums. If it still doesn't, I'm not sure what the deal is. It should sync fine.

Well, I installed the latest GMail from the Play store, then turned off notifications. Still looked like it was syncing... then... it worked. I see my email.
Thanks!

Have you tried to login in your gmail account in settings-my account-mail?

Yes, I did that too. So my GMail is now set to sync since I turned that on in the GMail settings.I also turned on notifications (within the Kindle App menu). Seems to be working just fine now and I have not experienced the issue with the notification bar... yet.
When I launch the Facebook app, it simply closes.
That doesn't particularly bother me, but apps that use Facebook to login are unable to do so.
Oh hell, Nevermind. I forgot to try uninstalling and reinstalling. Duh. That fixed it.
Yeah I had that issue. I uninstalled it so I could login to spotify and reinstalled it later and it worked.
I'm using the lollipop modified version and no issues. You can find it on apkmirror.com
Having issues with Gmail on OOS. I click an email in notifications and Gmail opens blank. Force stopping and restarting sometimes works but not usually. App fails to open normally sometimes as well. Just appears blank. Have this on OOS 4.01 and 4.02. I am rooted.
Anyone else seeing this behavior? It's killing me right now. Been using Outlook in the mean time. Not loving it.

I have this behaviour also, but only when i add an exchange work account with security settings
All problems gone since switched to Inbox
No problems at all for me, and I use Gmail extensively (the only email app I've used on my phones). But I got the phone with OOS 4.0.3, then updated to 4.1.1 and now 4.1.3. So maybe update, which you may already want to do anyway?
Or try clear cache and clear data for Gmail and see if that helps? It's all cloud based, so all the email will just re-sync (no downside to trying this).
I don't use any Exchange accounts (which a previous response mentioned) so not sure if that is the cause or not.
