My big problem after the update - Honor Play Questions & Answers

Hello
It's been a while since Instagram has added night mode to the app.
Which is enabled on other phones by activating Dark Mode.
But my phone, honorplay, doesn't have night mode, it always shows instagram in night and day mode.
As well as the Google Play app and mobile theme selection
This problem makes me very upset :crying:
Thanks for the help

Instagram dark mode is a feature that is created for Android version 10.
For Honor not available at the moment

The Instagram app version 116.0.0,34.121 has a dark mode. I am using it on Honor Play.

Mmmm weird.
Just found:
https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-activate-dark-mode-instagram
and it should work... in version 9, but i do not have the "Themes"option.
Using the same Instagram version as you do.
looked further...
Developer options also does not give "night modus" that can be switched on.
So now curious now how it can be enabled on your phone. Please inform
Looks like an option that is not enrolled for everyone at the same time...

Google apps dark mode missing

Hi guys,
Got the phone on Friday and loving it.
The only thing annoying me as that I can't find the night mode in developer settings to be able to darken all the Google apps (as per this tutorial https://9to5google.com/2018/12/17/android-dark-mode-theme-pie/ ).
Is this something the P30 Pro isn't capable of, or am I missing a setting?
Also, does anyone know how to get any other dark apps? Or successfully rooted and used substratum?
Cheers.

That only works for pixels, oneplus, other stock android like phones. You can get dark google feed with the lates Nova launcher beta + google companion app.

Damn. Was really looking forward to having dark apps without having to mess about too much! Guess I'll look into rooting temporarily.

The wait might take awhile
Ah well, guess I'll just have to play the waiting game. I've used dark apps for years, so I don't like the brightness of the phone right now, but it's a minor issue, and hopefully temporary. With any luck Huawei will enable it with an update...

Google photos issue after update

Hello All,
I have recently bought a global version of MI 9 and everything was fine until one of the updates that I got.
1. I got the MIUI update with the June security patch (Android Version - 9 PKQ1.181121.001, MIUI version - MIUI GLOBAL VERSION 10.2.13 STABLE 10.2.13.0 (PFAMIXM))
2. Google photos shows as last updated on the same day (4.21.0.258856319)
Everything else is fine, but after I open Google Photos and open any photo, the photo just dims. Is hard to explain and hence attaching the video for details. Any ideas ??
Video can be found here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/vBvLXTAQXBiADV7j7
Uninstall Google photo update and check if the problem stay.
My Google photo version is 4.20 updated on 18 July.
I have the exact same issue on Mi 9 Global.
Downgraded Google Photos to 4.15.0.245117517 and the dimming issue when opening a photo went away.
Found the same problem with eu rom, downgrade to be Google Photos 4.17.0.249919200 is also good.
Need to wait until newer Google Photos version before trying again.
In display setttings/contrast use normal, adaptive and boost cause the dimming effect

It's not that issue. I've got the same since the last update and haven't touched anything. Apparently Google screwed up and thank God it's not only me.
Download the latest gphotos and disable any contrast settings and dimming does not accur
Issue is caused from Google Photo's app, not from build.
Just got 4.21 version of Google photo and the issue start like yours,so i decided to change the colors mode in display setting to standard and it seems to fix it somehow but not like as before, still little dimming or contrast adjustment happening.
I have unistalled updates in app settings, then update from playstore and now is ok
Using standard display will made screen look like washed out and not rich colors.
Removing the update + reinstalling fixed it.

True
I don't use Google photos but I do recall seeing people complain about this on another forum and a different phone... So looks like it's a bug in Google photos not miui.

It's due Google Photos now support Wide Color Gamut including P3 color mode, other android app just support sRGB. Therefore Google Photos can now differentiate more colors than before which is good, but our android versions don't support it now. It works flawlessly in Pixel phones but causing Yellowish/Green tint or dimming or contrasty in others. Don't worry GPhotos may roll back this update temporarilyhttps://www.xda-developers.com/google-photos-wide-color-image-support-buggy-photo-viewer/

Dark/black mode

Hi simple question is there anyway to force dark/black mode across the board including gmail whats app etc. I am on miui 10 eu and there is a dark mode for system apps etc but not everything is dark.
For other apps we have to wait to get in the trend. Gmail I believe is on the way to get dark mode. It depends on the developers.
No it's not possible right now. Wait for Android 10 for system wide dark node.

I'm already on Android miui 10.
Miui 10 is the version of miui. The current Android ver is 9.
I see well it is a bit confusing they should keep in line with the Android build and name the skin accordingly. Anyhow I did see a video somewhere on YouTube where the person used a setting to theme everything into black including the apps but I can't find it anymore.

Proper Working Gcam is Here:

Hello there.
I've been using Gcam from past a year on my phone.
Till today, @the_dise, @Arnova8G2 and @Parrot043's Gcams have been working tremendously awesome on Nokia 6.1 Plus.
When checked, parrot's gcam have more features on comparing with the other 2. And at the same time, some of you might get annoyed after capturing images, because, parrot's gcam create some Halos and ambiance no matter how much you change the settings.
One thing that is common in all the Gcams is that: SlowMo!
It works!
7FPS!
Links:
Parrot: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1066/
(Halos:/)
Arnova: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1072/
(Manual focus doesn't work. It focuses on its own)
Dise: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1062/
(His Gcams are near to stock!)
Hi
I have 2 questions
1. Is your device's bootloader is unlocked and you have custom rom installed?
2. Is your phone updated to android 10?
Every gcam don't work on android 10 in this device (shutter button doesn't work & solid green pict)
Not working after few clicks
Hope it helps.
Cheers!?

Gcam used to work normally for me even before unlocking Bootloader. But yeah, some of the gcams mod urnyx, pitbull irritates sometimes.
So, gcams from the_dise, parrot043 and Arnova8G2 are working tremendously awesome.

That problem exists. As the new update on Nokia 6.1 plus has changed the vendor after Android 10.
Turn off the battery optimization for the app on the settings for better performance. Remember that, the app might drain battery. Neglect it.
Usually, it stops clicking images untill you reboot the device.
Edit:
Gcam stops clicking images only if you preview images no sooner you capture the images. You need to wait till it completes processing(and that can be seen in the notification bar). If you preview the images after processing, there will be no issues.
How it helps, cheers!
Use this camera, everything is working.

You clicked the preview button no sooner you capture the image huh? It happens only if you do that.
You're supposed to wait till the image processing is done and it can be good on the notification bar. If you don't wish to wait for 5-6 seconds, then I'd recommend you to TURN OFF the HDR mode and then capture the images so that you might not need to wait.
Reboot your phone once, gcam starts working again now.
Hope it helps, cheers. ?

Have you turned off the battery optimisations? ?
In Nokia phones, it has to be turned off. I dunno much about your device tho!
But, it doesn't usually cause on my phone but yeah, when you capture too many photos at once, it stops capturing until rebooted. You've to wait for atleast 10 secs to capture next shot unless burstshoot

I'm using this (arnova version because it's night sight viewfinder is working) in my Nokia 6.1 Plus TA1083..
And yes battery optimization is disabled..
I've updated to the latest release of this version and still haven't faced that trouble yet.
And capturing frequent photos might be the problem.
I'll keep that in mind Thanks!!!

Nokia 8 Sirocco Google Cam mod not working after Andriod 10 update

Hi All,
Phone : Nokia 8 Sirocco
I used to have a working Google cam mod on my phone until the Andriod 10. Now none of the mods I install works! It just crashes.
Does anyone know which works on this!?
Yes, me too... Please, help !
With killercam v1, just video work...
HAL3 is disabled
Hello,
It seems that HAL3 support for Camera is missing from the Android 10 build. I've send an email to Nokia support today. Until it is fixed, and you(generally speaking) are still on Android 9, and use Gcam mod, stay away from the update.
I hope problem with GCam will be resolved soon.
They disabled Raw with this Android 10 update.
We paid premium so we could have less quality camera, and camera app options than mid-range Nokia's ?
Remember, no Lightroom raw capture and edit possible either.
Same here, I have tried lots of Gcams and all not working, except the stock one from Play Store, but are missing important feature like night mode....

The posted solution results in a working GCam but I would not agree that HDR works. Yes, the menu is active and you can toggle the feature on but there is no difference in the photos at all (at least to my eye). I suppose that the app is taking normal snaps without HDR, regardless of the chosen mode.

I really hope MHD fixes it, if not, it was my last Nokia. I understand if you have to root a budget phone. But if I pay close to premium price, I also expect the software to work, without me touching it.
No HDR, broken glance screen, broken play store, increased battery drainage, worse wifi connection. It went from a phone I was really happy with, to a phone that pisses me off every day.
Rant end. Thanks for the suggestion but I'm gonna wait. Have a nice day!

I wanna know the method you used to unlock it ?
I am gonna try to enable the RAW Capture
I have unlocked it through Hikari Calyx. I have paid 9$ (41 Ron). He accessed my PC through Team Viewer and used a virtual USB to attach a smartcard. With that he reflashed my phone with android 9 (but you can choose 8 also) and unlocked the BL.
Everything was done within 24 hours.
This was my first phone with a unlockable BL and i have missed a lot having root on my phone. Now with root is like i'm having a new phone
P.s. : After unlocking the BL you can OTA upgrade to 10 if you wish but i do not see the reason. 9 has everything and none of the issues of 10.
With 10 google disabled ACR functionality.
HDR api disabled by HMB
Huge battery drain (do not know the reason)
A2dp issues
Etc..
Although with root you can fix all the issues i rather not have them in the first place. Therefore i will stay on 9 at least until a good stable 10 comes out of HMD global.
