Hi! I've been looking quite a bit for a guide on how to at least get TWRP on my device so I could try some custom ROMs on here, but I can't find any recent guide that would work.
My Note5 is the international variant, N920C, on the latest officially available version of Android (7.0).
Figured it out, here's how to root a Note5 (N920C)
1. Flashed TWRP via Odin after enabling OEM Unlock in Developer Settings.
2. Booted straight into TWRP, flashed Samsung Anti-Root Removal.zip and Magisk.
3. Reboot into System normally.
Can this thread be closed/deleted? The problem has been solved.

Hello
Please help, I'm looking in the topic of the latest bootloader and modem for android 7.0 and so it can be installed via ODIN ..
I found something myself but it does not work and I do not know if it is the latest one, please help.
N920C
What variant do you have? I have the N920i. If I knew how to grab the latest bootloader/modem I'd totally do it for you.
I don't think the bootloader's changed since MM!?
Either way, download a rom from Samdroid. But be warned, to get root - you may need to unlock the bootloader in settings and flash twrp.
I need a file to install in ODIN
Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy Note 8 SM-N9500 HK variant with the latest Firmware and security patch
I bought it since 1 month. eagerly waiting for installing TWRRP and rooting it using Supersu
I tried the following TWRPs through Odin
1-Galaxy Note 8 N9500 Unofficial TWRP Android Nougat 7.1.1.tar
2-Galaxy_note_8_twrp-3.1.1-0-greatlte.img.tar
3-N9500%20Nougat%207%201%201%20Unofficial%20TWRP.tar
4-N9500_TWRP_3.1.1-0.tar
5-N9500+Nougat+7+1+1+Unofficial+TWRP.tar
All these when installed through ODIN showed "PASSED" in Odin. but failed to install in the phone, I can not reboot into recovery.
Then I got the following 2 TWRPs
6-N8-TWRP-835-3.1.1-1-greatqltechn.img.tar
7-N9500_TWRP_3.1.1-0.tar
Both installed , I swiped for system modification, then wiped to factory reset, installed SuperSU, but failed to reboot into system. it is bootlooped in recovery , I have to flash my stockrom to recover the phone.
So if anybody have the knowledge how to install the correct TWRP and root this variant , kindly help me and others who are in the same situation. It will be great help if they can provide the links for downloading the necessary files
Thanking You all very much

Has someone tried flashing sm-n950u1 onto sm-n9500? anyone please?
I'm using Note 8 hongkong n9500 128gb dual sim version. The android Oreo 8.0 final leak build (March 4, 2018) is for the n950u1 which I wanted to flash onto my note 8 hk model. Has someone flashed n950u1 to n9500? And if possible kindly show the steps to do so thank you.
Hi I have a xt1803 G5S Plus, retgb and have recently unlocked bootloader and rooted my stock ROM which is NPSS26.116-26-14.
I have noticed there are higher version numbers available like NPS26.116-61. How do I go about having the latest stock ROM with twrp and root access? I'm guessing the stock ROMs are not flashable via twrp. Would I have to flash the latest stock ROM via ADB like it explained here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...lash-official-firmware-moto-g5s-plus-t3681018
and then unlock bootloader again, flash twrp etc like starting from scratch?
I honestly would not recommend flashing NPS26.116-61 to your device. Despite the version number being higher, that firmware is actually for a different region (I think NPS26.116-61 series firmwares are for India and Indonesia, whereas the NPS26.116-26 series is for EU/UK). If you flash that, you may find yourself ineligible for OTA updates at all, since your build does not match that expected by the stock OTA servers, and if there are incompatibilities between the firmwares - since they are for different regions - you may have issues with IMEI/SIM access.
If you wanted to update though, you'd have to follow the steps in that guide. Though I don't have a G5S Plus, you would have to remove TWRP/root through a stock ROM flash (no need to re-lock bootloader), then update via OTA, then flash TWRP and re-root. If you can find a stock ROM with the same firmware build as you have now, you may be able to preserve your data by omitting the 'fastboot erase userdata' command from the stock ROM flash commands, but I would recommend you have a backup (e.g. TWRP backup) before flashing anything.
There's a copy of the NPSS26.116-26-18 stock ROM (June 2018 stock ROM) here, flash at your own risk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77025728&postcount=507 This build was released as an OTA update to retgb devices as reported here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoG/comments/8w0c0c/june_patch_now_available_on_retgb/
I have been reading all sorts of threads for the past week on how to do this correctly. I think I got it down, just need some confirmation.
I got an international Note 8 SM-N950F 128GB.
I updated to the latest SW via the OTA - Baseband: N950FXXS4CRG6, Build Number: R16NW.N950FXXS4CRG6.
During Setup, I did not put in my SIM at all, I Logged in to the samsung and google accounts.
Waited 7 days and now have the OEM unlock option available.
I want to use the device on USA T-mobile, and root the device and install Xposed and Viper.
Can this be confirmed as the correct work flow?
I will be following Dr. Ketan's Guide to Root and Backup EFS. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-how-to-root-note8-efs-backup-t3677038
1) Flash TWRP via Odin
2) Flash the OEM Unlock Fix, which should also install Magisk.
at this point, I shall boot into the Stock ROM and ensure the OEM Unlock is available, and Backup the EFS partition using the app from Dr. Ketan's post.
Question is: at this point, after backing up the EFS, I can flash a custom ROM, correct?
3) Backup EFS
4) Install Custom ROM.
- I am thinking https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/rom-lightrom-t3768385
5) Flash the Tekhd Tmobile CSC Detonator https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ent/n8-s8x-s9x-oreo-t-mobile-efs-csc-t3772374.
A lot of Roms state they support Multiple CSC's. So, would this CSC Detonator be needed?
5) At what point in time Can I update Magisk or TWRP to the latest ones?
I just want to end some confusion I have. If you all on T-mobile can tell me the steps you took to get this working, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks for all your help.

hello,
any update from your effort to get volte ?
i think if you are on oreo, just need to flash the current detonator version for note 8 and see if it works. you can only use 1 CSC file (either multi or not) per phone.

[SOLVED] Hey, so I purchased the Note 9 (SM-N960U, baseband : N960USQS1CSF1) about six months back, and for some reason, I haven't received any OTA updates, I'm still stuck on Android 9 :'). I've decided to flash the firmware, but it's gonna be my first time,
And I do have some questions..
1. Is it fine if I flash the latest Android 10 UI2.5?
2. I have the AT&T variant but I live in The UAE, I don't have any European sim either, so is it fine if I flash the Verizon version ( or is there any other recommended Carrier) cuz I can't find any firmware of AT&T.
3. Is it necessary to root the phone in order to get it flashed with Odin?
4. I don't see the OEM UNLOCK option, but that does that matter right? ( I do have the snapdragon version)
6. Are there chances of bootloop or bricking if I follow all the instructions and download the correct firmware?
Lastly, if you guys could offer some tips and suggestions, I'd appreciate
Thank you!
[EDIT] Heres how I did it
1. Installed the latest Samsung drivers for mobile on my pc
2. Factory reset my phone and cleared all the cache
2. Got the U1 firmware for my sm-n960u unlocked phone (as advised by a fellow redittor) from sammobile.
3. Used the patched Odin 3.13.1.3b to do a *clean install* of the new firmware. And done!
Problems I faced: Odin failed to recognize my device, so I had to use another USB port and reboot my pc

Note: I did watch some YT tutorials and have read some stuff, so I do have some basic knowledge on flashing the firmware

1. If there is update available
2. I don't know about U phone
3. No root needed. This is official fimware
4. No need
6. Provided the firmware you're going to flash is correct, shouldn't be a problem. Upgrade shouldn't cause stuck/bootloop, just don't downgrade.
Be sure to find the correct firmware.
