Car back up/reverse camera - Android Auto General

Hello today we've installed a camera to my car, it works great but the app won't open(cam won't come on to the screen) when I put the car in reverse. Is there a mod or an app that can solve this? Greetings Kevin. :good:
It's an seicane head unit.

Android Auto has nothing to do with backup cameras. That's a function of the headunit.

Does AA use the microphone of the headunit?

Hi guys
I have been using Android Auto for a couple of months now and I noticed that Android Auto has problems to understand what I am saying while driving. I don't have this problem when I use voice commands with the standard navigation on my headunit so I started wondering: does Android Auto use the microphone of the headunit? Or is it only using the built-in microphone of my phone?
That would at least explain why Android Auto has so much difficulties to understand what I'm saying while driving. If AA uses the microphone of my phone, is there any way to force AA to use the microphone of my headunit?
I'm not right sure on this. I use a Pioneer head unit with AA and if using Google maps it seems to understand fine but when I use voice commands to play an artist or playlist in Google music then the 'assistant' behaves like a complete idiot. I suspect it uses the head unit mike as mine is just behind the steering column where the phone is tucked away in front of gearstick.

Create my own Head Unit with Android Auto?

Hello everyone,
I'd love to have a display to which I could connect my Android phone (via Android Auto) in a similar way like I can do in my Seat Ibiza, just so I could have Android Auto on a big(ger) screen on any car I'm driving (parents, brother, friends, work).
I've done some googleing, but couldn't find a successful project (there's one person who said it was quite unstable), so I came here to get confirmation for either side.
I appreciate your answers! Thanks a lot in advance!
You can install Android Auto app on your Android Head Unit, but you get the problem when you try to call. The app thinks that the radio is the phone, and does not recognizes it as a handsfree. If somebody could tweak it, it would be wonderful.

android auto

Is this working at all
YES! Perfectly! And Google assistant keeps me company when I am stack in traffic??
Works fine for me also
hi guys,
has anyone tried P20Pro with Android Auto on a KIA Sportage latest series?
is that working fine ?
I don't know how the kia system works but with Ford I have to enable android auto in the cars settings first then it automatically starts android auto when I plug my phone in
thank for the info,
on the KIA Sportage 2017 you must first start the AA app on the cell, then attach the smartphone with the USB cable to the system, only after the KIA navigator activates the android auto function.
On a site (link at the bottom) I read that any problems of disconnecting android cars are due to the USB connection settings on the phone, but just (no root) enable USB tethering. The charging will be deactivated immediately and all available bandwidth will be used to run Android Auto.
Unfortunately, I do not know if this will be possible on Android P.

Are you talking about P20pro connected to KIA? Or only about the connection to Kia by android auto?
Thank you
Yes! I have p20 pro connected to Kia sportage.
Ok, I'll buy it. Thank you
Ordered.... ?
Great choice for both, car and phone! :good:
I've got a Kia Optima and I don't get a ringtone on android auto - works ok when connected to just bluetooth, but on AA I just get the notification coming up on the screen and no sound
Any ideas?
Have you tried to check the media or phone volume on optima navi?
Yes, all on max. Head unit worked OK with my Samsung S7 Edge.
Will reset the bluetooth connection tomorrow, see if that helps. Already tried the Google Play Services hack, that didn't work - except mess up my Google Maps timeline
Tempted to do a factory reset and start agin - had a few issues that I now know how to fix, such as no alarms when do not disturb and whitelist is set

Android Auto, steering wheel controls not working, Mirror not working either

Equipment:
Head Unit: Pioneer 4400NEX radio
Pixel 3 Cell phone
2013 Hyundai Elantra
here is the issue. My answer, and hang up buttons work with the native dialer in the head unit. when Android Auto is running, they dont work. i cant answer, or hang up without using the onscreen buttons.
Night/Day mode in maps, and Waze doesnt work correctly. this morning on my way to work, it was 8:30, but the maps and waze was in night mode.
Also, the cast does not find the head unit to cast to. Is this something i need an app for? the car and radio are connected to the same wifi.
I'm having the same issue with the steering wheel controls and the same head unit. I'm using a Maestro module to integrate the steering wheel controls with the head unit.
Did you find a solution?

Manually force speaker to Phone or Car

Hi All
Anyone have any idea if this can be achieve?
The scenario is this, I have a merc 350 2014 with an AA box my main objective is to run Waze, all good so far.
However to get audio I have to select AUX in on the head unit which drops all other head unit audio., so no cd or music from HDD or radio. Since I really only need notifications from waze in this instance, I want to be able to switch AA to the phone speaker, then I can have CD etc. Bu there are time when AA will do just fine so then I could switch audio back to aux on the head unit. I am using a cable that plugs into the Merc Multi Media socket so I suppose I could interupt that with some sort of switch an runs a little amp & speaker.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards to all
Terry
