At lowest brightness the white is still bright, and the black- you can't distinguish it from the edge colour. Beauty of sAMOLED.

At pure night, lowest setting on dark can be used as reflector, if light on lowest, then you can light whole europe
It goes as dim as you wish (all the way to near zero brightness) - running LinageOS

2 nits minimum brightness according to displaymate and from my eyes that looks right. You need to be in a pitch dark room to see it. Does not get better than that.
