Sprint MSMDownloadTool (UnBrick) - OnePlus 7 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

After lots of fighting with OnePlus about this, I finally managed to get my hands on the MSMDownloadTool and drivers for the Sprint variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
To be honest, I was EXTREMELY tired while writing this, and need to get some sleep.
There are other posts explaining how to use this tool. I will update this thread with links to them when I have time.
Here is a link:

Enjoy!
Oh, I also pulled all the partitions from my Sprint OP7 Pro 5G. If any recognized dev would like to take a look at them to see if we can't get this variant free from it's bondage, let me know.

You are doing God's work bless you

Do you mind explaining how you accomplished this? I'd like to do a bit of poking around myself.

Know now that I am not posting this as an instructable for those that do not understand the sensitivity of the files that can be pulled through this method.
If you don't know how to accomplish any of the steps, you probably shouldn't be doing this. If you do pull partitions from your phone, do not share them with anybody you can not trust. Do not post them here, or anywhere for that matter.
If you are asked to help by providing partitions, do your research. Are they recognized developers? Have they helped other people? If you feel they can be trusted, then it is okay to share them.
1)Download MSMDownloadTool rar file
2)Start MSMDownloadTool with Admin Privileges
3)When MSMDownloadTool starts, hit F8
4)A screen with partitions will pop up
Select partitions you would like to pull, and input ”oneplus" as password.
Hit ok
You will notice now that a new "Read Back" button has appeared. DO NOT HIT IT YET!
5)Boot phone into EDL:
There are two methods of doing this with the OP7 Pro 5G.
1: ADB REBOOT EDL
2: Shut phone down with no USB plugged in, hold both vol up and vol down, then insert USB cable
6)AS SOON AS YOU SEE YOUR PHONE APPEAR IN THE TABLE, HIT "Enum" BUTTON, SELECT YOUR PHONE IN THE TABLE AND HIT "Read Back".
Note: If your phone disconnects before you have the chance to hit "Read Back" start back at step 5. Once Sahara starts reading, the phone will stay connected.
7)WAIT....
8)Once complete, your files can be found in the root of your system partition (The easiest way to collect them is to sort by "Date Modified")
9)Give yourself a tap on the back. BUT DON'T FORGET, there is sensitive information in the partitions.

So this is to convert it back to stock Sprint?

Yes and No. Currently there is no Rom to crossflash to the Sprint OP7 Pro. As of right now, it is just a way to recover from a brick for devs.

Neat! Appreciate the lil mini-tutorial, should definitely help in my research efforts.

So none on the currently available Android 10 updates are compatible with the Sprint version? I wouldn't care if I lost 5G, it's not available in my area.

Not currently, unfortunately. Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure they patch the global ROM to work on T-Mobile devices. So, if that is indeed the case, we'd need to do the same to get it to work on Sprint, however that may work. People such as myself are looking into ways of remaining on stock ROM and unlocking the bootloader so you could retain 5G and all Sprint features. I worry that moving to Global would effect more than just 5G, since Sprint is a CDMA carrier, with things such as VoLTE/VoWiFi. I could be very wrong on this though, it's just baseless speculation. We won't know till we try!

Thank you for the explanation.

The apn issues cause the Lost of MMS volte and mobile data. Does anyone have a stock image I can reflash back to for GM1925 / GM25CC for sprint please?

How do you actually use this .rar file in the msmdownload tool? The file cannot be extracted, says it is damaged? I've tried downloading a few times with no luck

What steps did you follow in the MSMtools? just start?

If I decided to go back to Sprint Stock from European, say I want to sell the phone, can I lock back the bootloader?

Can you give me aother link. This link above has been down.

You need to wait for a while and try again. I thought the same thing but after a while I saw a mirror.

What are the steps to unbricking? Just plug in and press start? I'm about to try converting to EU and if it somehow messes up I don't want to be stuck. Being a noob with flashing sucks

Yep I read it, so many times, but as M3GATROLL said, KingDroid v1.4 is a mix of both LPY and LPF, I thought the dev use LPF part to securise the rom..

Thanks mate, I would take my Note to SSC when I will be sure that there is no means to repair it Because the nearest SSC is about 100km of my house, and I haven't any means of transport (Living in the french coutryside and I'm 17)

When I flashed stock LPF I did exactly as dr.ketan show in his thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659308 ) with the 16gb pit
(btw I got the 16gb version)
When I flashed stock GB rom (single file) I put it into PDA and I tick "Repartition" "Auto Reboot" "F reset time"
I have removed the battery 2 hours ago, I put it back now
What is your .tar about ?

it is dangerous to wipe on any leak or official rom now.
its sad that OFFICIAL = LEAK nowadays. its like samsung don't check their firmware before releasing it in the wild...

Galaxy Note is my third Samsung Android device, after Galaxy i7500 and Nexus S, not the first time I brick these device, but there is always a solution to unbrick it..
I'm not dev, but I think this "superbrick" is unbrickable as 'always', need some serious dev to find a way to reformat and repartition the whole eMMc through the download mode, it's maybe possible if Samsung Factorys can do it

Remember that on XDA you can speak french too, but an english traduction is obligatory according to the rules.

Dude, from the gravity of your problem. I seriously doubt you can ever revive back your phone to it's former state.
I'm no expert but I read the important details here that the emmc chip on all Exynos devices have bugs on it. And not even a Jtag can ever wipe out and fix the bug.
My best advice to you (I know it's 100Km from your house to the nearest Samsung repair center) is to just make an effort and sacrifice to take that plunge of going there.
The longer you prolong your Note by experimenting and subjecting to whatever test you do, the more harm you might be giving it to already.
I read somewhere from a chinese saying.. 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...'
Again, take your Note to Samsung and have it repaired. That's my best advice to you.
Cheers!

Nop, I doesn't know anyone with a note, and I live in the coutryside ( à la campagne ) and there is no phone store...
But I gave a Nexus S and the voltage is exactly the same, logically I can recharge the Note battery with the Nexus S but the battery does not fit in
Nexus S battery is basiccaly the same as note battery, so I can :
- Charge Note battey with my nexus S
- Put Nexus S battery into the note (1500mAh but same voltage 3.7V)
But both solution require that I make a kind of welding..

I've bought it when it was on exclu at sfr, when I was on vacation... far far away from my house and all the papers, agreement, are approximately at 680km of my house

I only replaced the first 4 files.
Thanks @perin for the files.
I upgrade to this stock rom, but now i can't go back to another version. Odin shows "fail" when i try. I saw that rom is 7.0.1 android, is possible go downgrade to another version, like 6.0.1?

According to http://www.galaxys6edgeupdate.com/galaxy-s6-edge-stock-firmware/g925aucs7era2-att-g925a/ you can upgrade directly to ERA2, since you flash the entire stock rom, not only the upgrade.
remenber that if you upgrade to Android 7 you will lose the possibility to make the root access on the phone. From version 6 onwards the bootloader is locked, this means that it is not possible to make root.

.pit files are only used to tell Odin which file names to program to which "partition". Even if separate images are used, Odin will treat them as a single image. For example .pit file tells Odin to program modem.bin file to MODEM "partition", zImage to KERNEL "partition", etc.

Hi.
just using your rom and so far I have liked it.
The best thing is that the keyboard does give my language, the front flash also works well and, above all, facial recognition has worked for me.
I hope you keep improving this great project. It would be nice to add screenshot and recording to the button bar.

So first this first a little explanation. There aren't any device specific roms for the Moto G9 family, and im too lazy to learn how to.
HOWEVER, luckily for us, the G9 is a Project Treble compatible device! This means that it can flash and boot Generic System Images (GSI). These roms are device unspecific and can be booted on any android device which came with Android 10+. For more info click here. The long and short of it means we have a path to get to Android 12. I used the Pixel Experience ROM, but you can use any GSI Rom as long as you select one that uses the a/b partition scheme - Links to some other ones at the bottom
The only issue I have come across so far is NFC not working. If I get it working I will update this thread
Spoiler: INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
ENSURE YOU ARE USING A USB C TO USB A CABLE
otherwise you will run into weird errors installing larger roms
Flash TWRP Recovery
Power + Volume Down to get to Bootloader.
Code:
fastboot reboot fastboot
fastboot flash recovery (Path to twrp)
fastboot reboot
As soon as you reboot hold power + volume down to get to bootloader and select recovery. If it boots twrp, congrats it worked
Flash ROM
Power + Volume Down to get to Bootloader.
Code:
fastboot reboot fastboot
fastboot erase system
fastboot delete-logical-partition product_a
fastboot flash system (Path to rom)
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot

I am interested in the topic of the GSI, I have a concern.
Have you tried the GSI's that Google uploads on its developers page? Are they as functional as the GSI's published on GitHub?
It is that I am interested in these GSI, I have investigated and nobody talks about them except for Google itself.
Thank you very much. I already chose a GSI to flash. Let's see. Thank you.
So the sim works in the gsi you provided?
Is there any way to remove the encryption from it?
Already used several gsi, but every time there is an update I end up losing all my data and have to install everything again.
On my old device I made a backup using twrp but there is no way because when it restarts it encrypts everything.

So far I've tried 3 ROMs: Google (this one works fine except for calls, it will give problems with audio), AOSP (this one doesn't have Google services installed) and LineageOS (which I'm currently running and although it's wonderful...)
I have a problem with it, as the days go by the system begins to have excessive RAM consumption, so everything responds very slowly, but it is solved with a restart.

What kind of visual problems does the system have? I chose LineageOS because it gives me more confidence than PE, and seeing that the ROM works fine, I didn't try PE.

Well, in LineageOS there are also some visual bugs, but they are small, they don't bother me.
First of all, thank you @michaelmelita1 for sharing this update method.
I take the opportunity to describe my experiences trying to load the GSI on my G9 Play.
This method requires to unlock the bootloader, otherwise you will end with a nice soft brick.
You don't need (I didn't need it) to flash TWRP for running the GSI, since that's the official method shown on Android's technical sheets. If your device got to bootloop from any custom recovery, you can always revert to stock with LMSA (Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant)
The "OTHER GSI ROM, Generic System Image (GSI) List, Official Android 13, Google, Download" path got me to another Android datasheet; instead I got the Google's official GSI from here: the Android 13 GSI binaries and release notes page. There I choose the latest ARM64+GMS release (beware of choosing releases with older security patches, we don't like bricked phones)
Why did I installed the GMS version? I work on various projects and I need some or another Google app who ultimately relies on Google Play Services. That sucks but at least i've got this process simplified, as the other ways to get GApps working required root+custom recovery+modules.
Be specifically careful to get into fastbootd mode prior to flashing the GSI (Go to Install instructions, Flash ROM section of this thread). Fastbootd is the only way to load the ROM into the A/B partition.

Google's Android 13 QPR1 Beta 3 GSI works flawlessly, 9.5/10, as the phone call still doesnt give any audio, even on loudspeaker.
I didn't stay on LineageOS GSI since it shows graphical issues, shadows rendered weird and each page of the OS moved fine but slow.

Same here, npjohnson. No boot still. After Essential logo there's a brief blank (gray, not black) display and the phone crashes. I tried to pull logs but the boot sequence never gets there to make it available for adb. BTW, my tester is a Sprint variant.

I think that the new build is for the 19.1 that was rolled out yesterday.

Same experience here with the last two builds. Even flashed to both slots. Perhaps it has to do with the last Essential firmware that we were on? QQ1A.200105.032 vs QQ1A.191205.017? I'm just guessing.

are you formatting data per the wiki on install? We include firmware, so it isn't a firmware issue.

That's a given, but I went a step further once more. I re-flashed the last OEM (.032), then your recovery (lineage-20.0-20221105-recovery-mata) and latest vendor (vendor-QQ1A.200105.088) to both slots, and then side-loaded your latest (lineage-20.0-20221110-UNOFFICIAL-mata.zip), and .... same thing as I described above. We have a puzzler here, huh?

again, I keep telling people this, we include vendor image and boo loader in the zip, so flashing _anything_ before lineage won't change anything.
But yeah, am confused.
