Samsung made these devices a bit more secure than normal (this is a good thing), by making adbd ignore ro.kernel.qemu/ro.secure/ro.debuggable.
However some people prefer an unsecured boot image that runs adbd as root, so here you go. These are stock with ro.secure=0 set, and with a standard AOSP adbd, please match them with your firmware (do not flash to other firmwares)

Again, only flash these to corresponding firmwares/devices.

Seconded, I just update my P3100 via OTA to 4.0.4 and now I can't root the device.

Will this method erases the old data / system? If yes then I will try this as last resort but in the meantime if there's safer (and smaller downloads, the full rom is about 700 mb in size) way I'll try that first.
What i did, just flash the recommended firmware over my existing 4.0.4 XXBLE3 & no data wiped after finished boot...

Hello!
I have a Huawei Mate 9 (MHA-L29C432B190). Yesterday I tried to root my Phone to play Pokemon Go with fake gps. After I managed to root my phone, I couldn't boot into TWRP Recovery Mode anymore.
Because I still had some files I needed to flash I installed Flashfire from the PlayStore. I think after I flashed the newest Magisk version(The flash failed because of Error:1), my device got unrooted. But I think my device is still partly rooted because I can't get into Pokemon Go. Everytime I try to start it I get stuck the loading screen. So right now I can't flash anything to get my root back and I don't have the root to use alternative flash applications. I also tried to start return my phone to stock back with a update.app But it can't be installed. I also can't use "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" I always get " Writing 'recovery'...FAILED (remote:command can't be used/allowed)". And also after some reboots my oem unlock got turned off and I can't turn it on anymore.
I don't have any ideas anymore what to do. I thought I could root my device, so I could unroot properly with superuser. I tried some other application like KingRoot oder OneClickRoot but both of them don't have a rooting method for the Huawei Mate 9 yet. Btw I don't have a backup because of my naivety.
I hope you guys can help me . I appreciate any ideas
Thanks in advance

Either way I want a method to root my phone without some flash application or I want a way to return my phone to stock. Or a method to fix TWRP would be fine too.

That doesn't tell me anything. That just tells me that you tried flashing.
It doesn't tell me anything about exactly what you tried to flash or what errors you got when you flashed. I need more precise information to help you. Your simple answers aren't helping me understand anything about what you have going on with your device.
What tools have you used? What guide/instructions did you use? What files have you used? What errors did you get? What results did you get. What do mean "didn't work"? "Didn't work" can mean many things.
I might be able to help you fix your device but I can't fix ignorance.

I might be able to help you fix your device but I can't fix ignorance.
First I tried to do a force upgrade with a "dload" folder with a update.app file on my sdcard . After booting into this upgrade mode by pressing vol up + vol down + power button my device starts to install the stock firmware, but after it reaches 5% I get the message "Error with installing" and a Link to the same site when you boot into twrp. This always happens no matter which file I use. Next I tried to do a normal upgrade by calling this number "*#*#2846579#*#*" (The dload folder is still on my sdcard). But when I start the software upgrade I get booted into twrp and like I said in my post, always when I try to get into twrp I get stuck on the "Your device is booting screen". This is what I tried and basicly every site on google is saying I should try to do one of these two methods
(Here a guide for example: https://www.getdroidtips.com/full-guide-install-stock-firmware-huawei-smartphone/)
(My file in my last try: https://www.getdroidtips.com/huawei-mate-9-stock-firmware-collections/)

Stock upgrades are not going to work if you are rooted and have TWRP.
Stock updates require stock recovery and an unmodified system partition(no root).

Most custom ROMs for the OnePlus 5 are now supporting encrypted devices only. However, some users choose to keep their device in a decrypted state for MultiROM support and for other reasons. If you follow the steps below, you can flash any encrypted ROM on your decrypted device (without losing data) and your device will remain decrypted! I found this information in one of the many threads I've read (I don't remember which one) and thought I'd post it here to help others and for easy reference. Enjoy!
Follow These Steps:
1. Boot into TWRP
2. Wipe caches, data, and system partitions
3. Flash encrypted ROM
4. Flash GApps
5. Flash Magisk
6. Flash no-verity-op5.zip (not created by me)
7. Reboot
8. Enjoy!
If you closely follow the instructions above, you can enjoy any ROM on your decrypted OnePlus 5 and have the best of both worlds! :highfive:
Note 1: If device gets stuck at OnePlus boot animation after following all of the steps above, hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off device. Power the device back on and it will boot successfully into the ROM.
Note 2: Some ROMs are not compatible with MultiROM without the inclusion of additional commits by ROM developer.
After wipes, its Flash ROM.. Flash optional Kernel.. Flash Gapps.. Flash No-verity.. Flash optional root (magisk or SuperSU).. Flash optional Viper4Arise?
Is this confirmed working? Has anyone actually tried the process and confirmed that any data on the phone's internal storage is there?

I've found that flashing SuperSU (instead of Magisk) on encrypted ROMs often ends in a bootloop on my decrypted device. Flashing Magisk seems to be a requirement.
Not working for me. Tried with AICP release from 9/11. Wiped caches, system, data. Flashed rom. flashed gapps (tried stock/full/micro). Flashed magisk (also tried without). -> Bootloop

The original zip was modified for making FBE optional by @snowwolf725. Click here to visit his original thread.
I have a quick question. I just unlocked the Bootloader on my Plus 5 and installed TWRP 3.1.1-1 and Magisk 14.0 on it. The firmware is 4.5.0 as I didn't let it update at all and did all this to the device upon first bootup. I did not decrypt.
I've tried installing latest RR release (final for N cheeseburger) and the install stops with errors. I tried a different rom in the same Android version (7.1.2) and get same results. MD5 checks out on both downloads.
Do I have to flash the latest OnePlus 5 update (full OTA 4.5.10) before flashing a 7.1.2 rom? And should I decrypt my device for easier flashing?
If no one answers, I completely understand and will search some more but this seems to be a cloudy subject that gets many different answers and I thought I would post it here. Thank you all in advance.

Yes.. U need to flash the latest firmware and then flash roms.. There's a thread for firmware.. Flash the whole zip would again give you stock recovery and you have to re do the fastboot stuff so makes no sense..

In addition to what is stated here, if you flash Magisk immediately after flashing the full firmware zip (no rebooting between steps), TWRP won't get replaced with the stock recovery. This is a great time saver!

I just wanted to thank you for this thread. All of the information you provided helped me immensely. I was struggling with this device and flashing roms at first but one I unencrypted it, with your guide, everything worked great. I was going to leave it encrypted for easier flashing since most all the roms for this device are encrypted only. But I was having more issues than ever. And many, of the posts in here have also answered quite a few questions I had. This should be a pinned tread.
Anyways thank you again. Your thread is a must read for anyone with an Opo5.

There are a couple of reasons for people not replying.
First of all, the lack of details on your problem makes it impossible to determine the solution.
1. What do you mean bricked? Bootloop? Stuck on OnePlus logo? Hard brick? How did you get it bricked in the first place?
2. The restore tool removes TWRP. Have you installed it again?
3. What do you mean you can't install or the update the ROM? Is there an error message? Are you trying to flash a custom ROM in the stock recovery?
4. You waited less than 2 hours. You realize there are different time zones? Some people are sleeping, others are at work.

Hey you self-entitled prick, transfer a copy of the full ROM onto your phone through adb/USB OTG/MTP and flash it through the stock recovery. If you had previously unlocked your bootloader and have TWRP installed, use that to flash instead. If you do not know what any of the above means, look for it yourself through the forums.

Reflash with the MSMtool after re-downloading everything and verifying all downloads first before proceeding. Use the tool I have posted at https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/guide-official-op3t-stock-reset-to-oos-t3598864
Ensure you verify before starting the flash. Also uninstall or deactivate any anti virus application installed on your PC.
should i change the data partitions and everything to f2fs or other thing. system to ext4 data to f2fs
For now, don't worry about the data partitions. As mentioned above, reflash from MSMTools, verify the downloaded package first, and then check. All your issues are probably caused by a bad file.
Has root for the NE2217 been achieved yet? I've been searching thru the threads & cannot find mention of someone achieving root specifically for the NE2217 model. It is the US T-Mobile version. Any help is greatly appreciated
Still waiting on one plus to update the page to unlock the bootloader. Hopefully we get a modified Msn tool soon.

I can't find it?? Wth!
I'll keep looking, really annoying me, haven't had to do it myself but remember seeing the process
Until the commands are found to extract a boot image from a live device are found.
Why don't you attempt to boot a boot image from a comparable model?
Do not flash it unless it actually works as you do not have a route back to stock, but by booting it's risk free just obtain a patched image ( I have some in my root guide in the guides section )
Pop your phone in fastboot then just run fastboot boot name of boot image, the phone will boot. If it fails to boot just hold the power and volume buttons and allow it to restart, you original boot image will be intact and nothing will have changed.
If it does indeed work then you could use Magisk to make it permanent by opening Magisk and clicking install / direct install as you'll be rooted at this point.
As you're on T-Mobile you need to verify that your calling and text ability works as well as your internet access .
Have seen a tonne of issues with T-Mobile and custom ROMs / rooting, so yep be weary of processes, make sure you test everything first before committing to changes like this.
Side note: have you actually unlocked the bootloader? Not sure if the process is the same for you guys or not but thought I'd ask. Obviously won't be able to boot anything with a locked bootloader
