I've notice the Moto E5 is running a program called "Cricket Software Update" every month. The problem is, the last time it did one of these updates it corrupted the phone and the whole thing had to be reformatted. I'd rather not have to go through that again.
The phone won't let me disable the Cricket Software Update app. Is there any way to figure out which website is sending info to the phone to activate the "Cricket Software Update" program? If I had the host name I could block it so I don't have to worry about my phone getting bricked again. Is there any way to figure this out without having to root?
Any update on this? I still can't figure out how to stop the constant Cricket Software Updates.

Unfortunately this does not work. I had already enabled Dev Options and disabled "Automatic System Updates," but for some reason the Cricket Software Update manages to bypass this and it still keeps forcing updates. Is there any other way to stop the Cricket Software Update program?
Has there been any update to this? I still can't figure out how to disable the Cricket Software Update.
I really could use some help with this. Now the phone wants to do an update everyday. Can someone please tell me how to stop these annoying updates?
go to settings>apps and notifications>notifications
tap notifications
tap the three vertical dots then tap show system
scroll down to motorola update services and tap it
tap "on" which changes it to off

Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. I need to figure out how to stop the Cricket Software Update program. Is there any other way to disable it?

Hello. I have lumia 520 and I have a problem with the store app. When an update is avalaible it don't show me that. I need to go to search, search for that app and there I can see "update" instead os "install" button.
What can I do in order to make it show avalaible updates?

Your phone doesn't check the store for updates very often. Probably only like 1 time a day. But in most cases, that is plenty. So you were just in between the times it was checking for updates.
Once you go to an app though, it's like manually checking for the update, so that's why it showed up then.
Microsoft commented that it was an issue they were working on.
My suggestion is to use an app as SysApp Pusher, add all your apps and check periodically if there are updates with it.
Do you have cellular data, or another always-on Internet connection, enabled? I have heard that if the phone can't connect to the Internet at the scheduled check-for-Store-updates time, it simply skips it. If that time falls at a point when you have limited or no Internet access every day, it will never show waiting updates at all.

I heard that too, but how can I find when is that time? I cant, right?
apps like SysApp Pusher or Update Checker can scan and show you which apps have updates...
in SysApp Pusher you can make list of own apps to check updates... and dont forget make first scan for updates after install SysApp Pusher to retrieve current version info from store
I'm just relaying my experiences and make no guarantees that you will see the same results that I have but I think most everyone should. First of all, for a long time now I had the SystemUpdateService$Receiver disabled in Google Services Framework and was shocked and extremely annoyed to see the update Monday morning on my N7 and then Tuesday on my N5. I've always been one to flash images as soon as they were available but I've decided to wait. Therefore...
The solution is simple. It really only requires one app but you can use two if you're extra cautious. AutoStarts which is a paid app is what I'm using. I have no idea how much it costs now because I've had it for 2-3 years. The other app is Disable Service. Using Disable Service by itself will cause a major wakelock (SystemUpdateService) which I verified with BetterBatteryStats and also with Wakelock Detector. All of the entries that need to be disabled will be in Google Play Services. In the Autostarts app menu use "Group by application," and under View make sure "Hide systems apps" is not checked. In Google Play Services the third "After Startup" entry from the top needs to be disabled and the second "Connectivity changed" entry from the top needs to be disabled. In the popup for both you will see "SystemUpdateService$Receiver" in the description. My experience so far is that only using Autostarts was sufficient as long as you did NOT go to Settings/About phone/System updates. As soon as you open the "System updates" page the system would re-enable the "Connectivity changed" entry and you will start getting the notifications. Even without going into the "System updates" page the system might at some point re-enable the entry but it never happened to me the day or two I only used Autostarts. To prevent that from happening and to save myself from curiosity when I felt compelled to look in the system updates page, I used the Disable Service app which will completely prevent the system from re-enabling the "Connectivity changed" entry. With the Disable Service app the entry that needs to be disabled is also in Google Play services and it is "SystemUpdateService." After all of the entries are disabled reboot and the notification will be gone and the "System updates" page will say that "Your system is up to date." The "Check now" button is now non-functional and the last time you booted up will be the "Last checked for update" time. I'm getting all of my notifications and the Play Store is auto updating the apps I'm letting update and I'm seeing those notifications also. From what I can see the only thing that is not working is the OTA system update.
Update: I've been using Autostarts by itself to disable two entries in Google Play Services for a few weeks with no issues, no notifications about a system update. Just looked in About phone/System updates and the OTA is still there. Re-enabled the second "Connectivity changed" entry, rebooted and notification is once again gone.

Rooted Nexus 5 running Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4 ROM
Hi All,
I just recently rooted my Note5 with ForeverLoco's ROM using ODIN and with Anter47's Kernel. I noticed that after a while, the accessibility services (Settings > Accessibility > Services) which control Tasker and Greenify (among others) all turn themselves off after I manually turn them all back on. I have Clean Master as well as Greenify that kills/hibernates apps but none of the apps in the accessibility page are included on either list. What am i doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

On the S6 edge, I have a similar problem: the settings remain, but they simply stop working after some time. I have to either restart the phone, or switch them off and back on to get them working again.

hi
I also had similar problem when i had my Note4.I was also rooted etc etc .My workaround was to... ..when i flashed my new updated stock Rom i would quickly enable it ,but as you stated it would/might turn off later , I flashed numerous Lollipop Roms and it was present in all except my last Note 4 Rom.. ...COH4. i found issue to be fixed in this Rom.
The problem ( i supect ) , is that most users don't use this service a lot ,so it goes mostly unnoticed .Very fustrating "bug"
So far i have no issues with my Note5 .
Could be that root interferes with setting or just a Samsung "bug " ????
good luck

My S6 edge is not rooted, so it might be a bug on some Samsung roms
I am having the same issue on my find 7. It is very frustrating as I just set up a lot of automation tasks that rely in autovoice being accessibility enabled. Grrr
So from another post around here I found the solution for me and it's very (stupid) easy..
Under settings -> program management, I had to lock certain apps.
I had almost flashed another rom.
Same problem here with Tasker, Nova Launcher and True Phone accessibility services turning off. My phone has Lollipop and is rooted.
Which apps ?

Download Servicely from GP and keep everything turned on!
Im on Phronesis v6.5 rom 5.1 1 on my note 3.
I got the same issue, after reboot all my accessability permissions for my apps are turned off. Apps that need the accessability are Twilight, switch swiftly and a bunch of others including greenify.
Has anybody found a solution to this issue?
PS somehow Nova Launcher seems to keep its accessability ON through reboots!
Samsung and Huawei
Saw the subject is saying [ROOTED] but posting anyway even if this also applies also to non-rooted devices running the stock versions of Android:
On Samsung Galaxy devices (SG 5 and later), check to see if you have App Battery Optimizer in Samsung Smart Manager app enabled. Please disable this as it is known to disable app Accessibility Services: go to Android Settings > General > Battery > look under App Optimization and select Details. Then find the apps in question and turn them off.
For Huawei phones, go to Settings > Apps > Advanced Options > Ignore Optimations and toggle "allow" for your apps that needs to be allowed accessibility permissions.
It happens to me as well. When I use titanium backup to clear apps cache it will shut off all accessibility apps and you will have to turn them back on. I noticed it happens when I use cool master as well.
Hi, it happens to me with Greenify on a Xiaomi redmi note 3 (marshmallow), the only thing that worked for me was: Settings>apps setting>permissions> autostart, and allowing Greenify. It works, even when i went back to optimization feature and leave Greenify to be optimized as it was.
Hi, I am also nor rooted but thought I would chime in as I am also experiencing this annoying issue with my Huawei Mediapad X2 running EMUI 4.0 Marshmallow Stock. Unfortunately, setting Greenify to ignore battery optimizations does not help. Once apps are killed, their Accessibility setting is turned off automatically - very frustrating. Anyone have any other solutions?
The solution given by elpipo22 works for me in a rather different environment, a xiaomi MI 4 with miui. The autostart option here was in Security app -> permissions -> autostart -> choose the apps which should retain accessibility settings.
Hii,
In my case, oppo f1s, i found out one solution
First of all your device should be rooted, the best
way to do that is through resetting firmware to factory or updating to newer oppo system image, then installing custom recovery BIOS or whatever it's name is,
then rooting under Recovery mode using Magisc...
All this is described in some xda-developers forum topic.
But that is not our issue for now,
To prevent accessibility permission to be revoked
from our service or app, we have to go developper,
by browsing SETTINGS >> DEVICE INFO , then clicking about 8 times or more on BUIL NUMBER... now that we
have become DEVELOPPER for good, we go back and then
we navigate towards SETTINGS >> ADVANCED SETTINGS >> DEVELOPPER SETTINGS... then enable DEVELOPPER OPTIONS, open section RUNNING SERVICES, browse for application named SECURITY CENTER, inside whitch we can see 4 running services, then STOP service named
CONTROL_VERIFY_SERVICE (of course on your own risk)
, that is it, now just go to SETTINGS >> ADVACED SETTINGS >> ACCESSIBILITY and enable accessibility for your application and enjoy it.....
I just got my Pixel 5a yesterday and immediately am annoyed by the Google stuff. I installed the Nova launcher but still get thrown back to the Pixel launcher or tossed into various assistant screens all over the place. Is there any way to truly turn this stuff off via normal settings? I don't really want to root or get custom firmware, but I despise these forced integrations between everything.
I don't want anything launching of its own volition or because I accidentally touch or look at the phone. I just want the apps to launch when I click them, the 3-button navigation to let me switch between tasks, and a simple homescreen to hold widgets and shortcuts I choose. The first reason I don't want the Pixel launcher is because it doesn't' let me remove the stupid search bar, but I also don't want any of the other hidden and implicit triggers that tie into the assistant.
I also find it annoying that the home button opens some search if I touch it while already on the home screen. Is this coming from the assistant too? I didn't yet find any settings in Nova to adjust the buttons.
I'm with you here. Installed Nova for the exact same reason as you. I do this next thing on all my Android phones: GO to settings > Apps & notifications > see all apps > Google = DISABLE... o some phones it can be uninstalled!
Personally I also disable "Google Play Services for AR" but that is personal choice. I also disable a number of other apps that I know I do not want/use.
I suppose I could use ADB to try and uninstall them, but once they're disabled that is usually good enough. The first one though, Google being disabled, "should" remedy all your issues. I too use the three button navigation and hate ALL assistants!
There's a program on here called 'adpappcontrol' that's great for removing anything you want via ADB.
It's basically just a gui for the command line program. It's worked great for me on at least three phones.
[TOOL] ADB AppControl 1.8.0 🚀 Ultimate App Manager & Debloat Tool + Tweaks
ADB AppControl 🚀 Root is not required. Works with any Android device. Can do almost everything you dreamed about with applications. ADB AppControl - the desktop program, that will allow you to easily manage applications on your android device...

Highly recommend. Make sure you tip the dev, since he does it in his spare time.

I could have sworn I already did that, but just checked and it is enabled. Has yours stayed off? Would the automatic Google Play app updates cause this to be reenabled?
I also now found the Nova setting Gestures -> Home Button that was causing this other search to appear if I press the home button when already on the home screen. Setting it to None with the checkbox still set for Only on main home page seems to give me what I want there...

Mine has stayed disabled. I can't speak to whether auto updates may have reenabled it. I always turn auto updates off. I like to see what is being updated on my phone.

Hello,
I'm on 13.0.10.0(SKDEUXM) currently, stock and it does have call recording which works.
The annoying thing is that it also announces to the other caller that I am recording the call.
How can we remove this announcement (either without root or with root)?
Thanks
I believe I answered my own question. For those looking to stop the call announcement, follow this guide. If there is a way to do it with root and not use this method, I'll appreaciate if someone can point me in that direction.
Install TTSLexx app from Play Store.
Download TTSLexx
Open Settings > System > Accessibility on your Android phone.
Scroll and choose “Text-to-speech Output”.
Tap on Preferred engine and change the value to “TTSLexx” from Speech Services by Google. Confirm the subsequent standard warning.
Open Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps on your phone.
Scroll and find the “Phone” app. Tap on it to open its details.
Tap on “Storage and cache”. Then tap on “Clear storage“.
It’s done! Open the Phone app, make a call and start recording to see the magic.
If you have doubts about the app, then you can switch the Text-to-Speech provider back to “Speech Services by Google”. The call recording announcement will still remain disabled until the Phone app refreshes its data or if you restart the phone. You can repeat the steps again when the announcement is active again.

This solution is an exploit of a bug from google dialer, i believe google alr fixed it by now.
