Good news across the interwebs.
RCS working on most (if not all) phones on most (if not all) carriers. I'm not taking credit (or blame), but can confirm (supposedly) it works on my 6t on Verizon.
Need to install Google messages beta and carrier services. Need some way to access activities (I used Nova launcher).

As with everything here, blame the guy in the mirror if it goes wrong.
Edit : As of this morning (November 1st), it's no longer working for me. If I run across a reliable guide to get it working again, I'll update the op, but it shouldn't be surprising that this feature is inconsistent on a beta version of an app.
Edit 2: And just like that, messages updated and it's working again. Gotta love betas.
Not working for me. International version , rooted on latest stable os
It only works on wifi for me.
did not work for me either, additionally, I don't understand the significance of RCS. Why do I want/need it?

Same. Even then, its super finnicky.
Working for me
Worked perfect for me, wifi or cellular.
TMO 6T converted to international, lastest Android 9 release. I don't keep track of the versions anymore. Fully rooted, twrp and magisk, viper too!
Works perfect for me. A bit of thinkering and troubleshooting but got it to work.
RCS think of chat application integrated in your own ecosystem device.
It works for me also oos a10 b1. There's a post from xda about it. I had to do a couple of extra steps to get it working correctly.
https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-rcs-google-messages-any-carrier/
The biggest part was to ensure I set the following :
ACS Url
‘http://rcs-acs-prod-us.sandbox.google.com/’
OTP Pattern ‘Your\sMessenger\sverification\scode\sis\sG-(\d{6}).’
Pressing apply after changing OTP Pattern to ‘Your\sMessenger\sverification\scode\sis\sG-(\d{6}) does nothing. Not sure if it even applied. If i go back and try to change it again the field its empty.
Changing ACS Url to ‘http://rcs-acs-prod-us.sandbox.google.com/’ works, or at least the option sticks.
Using dual sim here and sim nr was ported, not sure if it can affect. By default the messages app doesn't read my phone nr correctly due to it being ported.
Tried forcing RCS by setting up the correct nr on messages RCS setting but it just sits in "setting up..." status.
Not sure why this matters at all. If the counter party has not enabled RCS this seems pointless. And since Google can and likely will **** this down in the near future it will not matter. Last but not least, I am not impatient enough to care if my counterparty is typing or had read the messsage. If I need to know I text them "did you see this".if they don't answer then I know they have but don't care. The whole iMessage thing has never done anything for me. The most annoying thing is the absolute neutering of videos the moment there is an iMessage user on a thread.
I have this working on two devices and after some testing I have to say unfortunately it is not working enough for day to day use. The RCS communication does work between the two devices if you are actively having a conversation but if you set them down and then try to message one the message will say sent but not be received on the other device until you pick up the other device and send a message to the sending device, then the message will come through and RCS will be working. Basically it works but it is not working to push the message through when not active. I re-tested using sms and all was good. Anyone else experience this?
Working perfectly on T-Mo USA 6t on Android 10
Remember there is no end-to-end encryption when using this. So don't send anything naughty ?
After some digging on the net I came to the conclusion that (1) this is not yet stable (2) not secure (3) if the other party doesn't have RCS it will not work (4) international version of Oneplus 6T will not work due to 2 SIMS .

International OP6T version, 2 SIMs, working perfectly.
I did this two days ago and it is working on my wife's OP6 and my Tmo converted to international 6T. No issues for me. Testing between my wife and I is working, although we typically use hangouts.
I have noone to RCS with but I want to try it out! Anyone down to text ? Lol
Seems like this "hidden trick" is starting to break on certain devices... including this phone

Do you have the volte switch in your settings ?
VoLTE is a feature that is provisioned by your carrier. Most carriers will not provision VoLTE unless they have an open policy (allows all capable devices), or if you are using a carrier-branded phone. For the second option, lots of carriers claim that it is to ensure stability and quality of service, though I suspect that's all BS they spew in an attempt to sell more of their own phones.
Anyhow, try to find out if your carrier provisions VoLTE to unlocked/unbranded phones. If not, activating the VoLTE setting within the phone will not do anything.
I'm in an AT&T HD Voice coverage area.. never been able to use it or even see if it works. The build.prop edits seem to work for some but I've never been able to get it to work at all.. Could be AT&T blocking it of course since I don't have an AT&T device really on any of my 4 lines.. All unlocked non-carrier phones.

No issues at all for me. USA TMO.
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs
It is toggled on under status bar together with VoWifi but no idea how to activate it. I suspect my carrier doesn't allow it yet for this phone.
I seem to now have been able to activate it by *#800# but still no joy. I'm guessing this is due to three blocking it rather than my phone.
I use the VoLTE enabler in Magisk and once I enable and restart I have no issues. Workout it I don't get HD calling and any call I make, my phone drops from LTE to H. I'm on AT&T.
OP3T on Three UK. Been using crDroid Pie recently and i'm now able to make VoLTE calls. It comes and goes though. The options are in Settings and 'Enabled'. Phone Test shows VoLTE Provisioned. VoLTE icon show up in Status Bar.
Most of the time when i make a call i still see the Signal Icon drop from '4G' to 'H', but if i repeat dial a few times it latches on to VoLTE. I'm not sure why the inconsistency, but my 4G reception is weak and prone to disappearing entirely, so maybe that's why.
Three APN settings in ROM are same as always. No special 'ims' APN or settings.
@Eggstones
Edit: The package 'org.codeauora.ims' has been mentioned a few times for throwing up a 'Device is HD capable' Notification. I assume it's updates to this package that have enabled VoLTE?
@Dirk
I can get the volte to work fine but not the WiFi calling. I'd love to get that working ok.

No. I have never tried to install one. Not sure how to do it. I'm aware of various guides but haven't taken the plunge. The furthest I got was rooting some old phones.

You wouldn't need to Root. Everything else is a doddle on this phone. You might give it some thought. The obvious thing is to find out what the differences are and weigh up the pro's and cons. If Battery life is your absolute priority then OOS might be better. If wifi calling is your priority then custom ROMs are the answer. Gotta decide where you might gain, and where you might lose out.
If you decide to go for it, this is a good guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3624877
Of course that is for the OP5 so you wouldn't use the software linked in that thread, but the principal is the same. The equivelent software for this phone is available here. The guide gets you through the important steps of unlocking Bootloader and getting TWRP on your phone. Beyond that it's easy as Pie to get a custom ROM on your phone.
Just ask if you need help. I can link you to the files you'd need.
Thank you. I might give it a go later this week
This has been a frustrating issue. My wife and I both have Nexus 6 phones. She has the 32gb & I have the 64gb version. Hers recently started not receiving MMS messages. Anything with a large picture would simply never show up. Anything with a very small graphic or group text would show up as "Non-text content". Here are the steps we've taken to solve this:
1. TMO started by insisting it was an APN issue. So she edited her APN. Didn't help.
2. We then swapped SIMs. Hmmmm. My phone then behaved like hers while hers could then send/receive MMS.
3. TMO said ok maybe it's the SIM. They sent us a new one. SAME result. Her phone wouldn't receive MMS.
4. Out of frustration, I factory reset her phone and reset the APN info. Didn't help. (Cleaned up her phone of some trash programs though. :laugh
5. TMO engineering says they still can't find anything on their end. Elevate to tech supervisor. She tells us to go a TMO store (right near us) to try a THIRD SIM. OK, we do. SAME RESULT. We tried swapping SIMs around again and the same thing happens. My SIM in her phone, everything works. Her SIM in mine, I can't receive MMS.
6. TMO store guy suggests MAYBE (but unlikely) that there is something her account has that's stored on the SIM when its activated that causes the phone to freak. Also says it's above his pay grade .
So now we are again waiting on TMO to poke around further on their end. My question for all you smart types here is:
Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Is there anything you know of that could be causing it? I think it's a bad provisioning somewhere in the dark recesses of TMO. The ONLY change we made to our plans (which seems just coincidental) is that we moved from the 2 lines Unlimited for $100 plan to the over-55 Unlimited plan. We did this maybe 3 weeks ago. But the features are all the same on both plans.
We are both on the same Android 7.0 final OTA firmware updates from Google. NBD92G
Would there be ANY chance that a sideload firmware update would make any difference? We're getting desperate here. Any & all suggestions welcome.
I wonder if her SIM is configured for wifi calling. There has been a conflict between wifi calling and mms for awhile. I've seen it reported several times where this T-Mobile forum post helps in that case
Don't use old firmware... I had issues on certain custom ROMs and old firmware where MMS wouldn't work over WiFi. Never as bad as you were getting.
If you wanna stay stock, sideload the latest OTA to go to NGI55D. Anything older than that is vulnerable to Blueborne exploit, which is a HUGE security concern IMO. I can confirm MMS is working correctly (even with WiFi enabled) on bone stock NGI55D as well as custom ROM Dirty Unicorns v11.7.1 which includes September security patch.

I've had this issue on most LOS roms. i ended up making a custom APN i flash when i try a rom built on LOS.
Yeah, it sure sounds like a problem with account partitioning, or something else with the account that gets associated with the SIM on initial use. What if you try the problem SIM in a phone that is not a Nexus 6? I wonder if you could get a new sim and set it up in a different phone, then transfer it to the problem phone?
OK all, finally got a TMO engineer who agreed with my assessment -- that it was a hidden provisioning problem. She nuked my wife's line and recreated it from scratch. Everything works great now. Frustrating that we had to go through about 15 phone calls and over 3 hours of phone time to get it resolved.

Glad they figured this out.
I want this to be a thread for us Verizon people using custom Roms. As of right now there are several Roms that have partial support. There is one ROM I know of that has full support. Havoc os. Sky dragon, liquid remix l, Luis ROM collection has partial support. Some Roms have no support.
Some Roms don't have the ability to send/receive mms ( pictures and group texts). Some Roms can't even receive texts or calls.
If I'm not mistaken, the list is as follows:
OmniROM
Treskmod
HavocOS
AOSiP
I don't believe any of the 10/Q ROMs will work until the necessary blobs are pulled from the official OOS 10 release. Therefore, the above only applies to 9/Pie versions. I have not tested the 10 OOS port, so I can't confirm anything there.
For the ROMs with partial support (calling and texting), some users have found success with MMS by using certain messaging apps, such as QKSMS.

I didn't know aosip worked, I haven't tried Omni since I had to make a call to tier 2 support. So that call could have fixed it for me. I haven't heard of treskmod. Havoc isn't bad.
Bootleggers works great, although I did need to switch to qsms for mms to work.
I think the issue is most time picture messages are extremely low quality when received, and video messages as well if they come in at all. I'm on an old Omni build and that's how it is for me.
I'm on pie with latest Omni and QKSMS. Running smoothly on verizon. I can make /receive calls, send /receive SMS/MMS and group texts work.
Funny as **** lol. ALL pie ROMs support Verizon. Its the APNs in network settings that control MMS,sms, etc. All ROMs use your current radio/modem to access your sim and apn to access the network. If you have signal, its not the rom. To make sure your apn info is correct, google the info or call your carrier

Yes and I've read comments in various threads where people would say they had tons of difficulties getting SMS and especially MMS to work properly even on stock OOS. Many recommendations suggested you must call verizon tech support and request a tier 2 specialist.
But I also noticed a couple of posts where people said they just simply inserted their sim and everything worked. I also read one comment where the guy said just go into your verizon account settings and choose CDMAless.
My experience? I decided I definitely wanted to iron out all the kinks before flashing a rom so I inserted my sim, did the initial setup and noticed MMS not working so I logged in to my verizon account and went through settings but there was no CDMAless option. Then I called verizon tech support and requested a,tier 2. Originally it was a,tier 1 who fielded my call and when I asked him he said : "I'm basically a tier 2" (which meant I don't know jack squat)
After an hour on the phone with the clown, he finally admitted he was going to have to connect me with a real tier 2. Five minutes later I was off the phone and my MMS was working.

This isn't entirely true. Issues have probably all been ironed out now but when the op6t came out even with apns correct mms did not work. As it stands some roms receive mms with terrible quality because image is compressed to less than a mb. There was talk of special compatibility things in oos that was missing in custom roms.
Hoping to resurrect this thread with updated information regarding Android 10 based ROMs. Can anybody report about verizon issues with Android 10 ROMs on the One Plus 6t? (The reason I'm asking is because I'm currently using Lineage OS 16 on mine. SMS works with the QKSMS app, but there are recent reports in the Fajita LOS 17.1 xda thread that Verizon problems have possibly gotten worse in version LOS 17.1)
Since nobody has responded to this thread, I'll update it myself. I was previously using Lineage 16 with my Oneplus 6T on Verizon's network and my texting app was QKSMS. This combination worked well. I finally decided to update to Lineage 17.1. Unfortunately, I was not able to get MMS working (neither sending or receiving) with this version on Lineage.
But I'm happy to report that I then tried Omnirom Q and it works great! I'm still using QKSMS. However, it should be noted that the stock messaging app that comes with Omnirom also works!
Hey, not sure if anyone is still paying attention to this thread but anyone have any current roms that are working on Oneplus 6t on verizon? I read they arent updating it anymore but I would really like to keep using my phone.
I'm using Lineage 18 on my Oneplus 6t. I wouldn't call it full support, because I have to modify one config file after I update the phone. But after modifying that config file, everything works. I'm very happy with it. See this post for details on what needs to be modified:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-lineageos-18-1.4174689/page-24#post-85238717
The config file change does persist after reboots. But it won't survive an update. So it must be applied each time, after you update the ROM.
Will CR Droid work with OnePlus 9 On Verizon?
3 days ago I received the Pixel 5 for my girlfriend. She had an old iPhone and she was interested in switching to Android. After doing so and activating service I've just come to realize that Sprint/tmobile does not support it. I've spent 3 hours tonight talking to sprints technical support about 2 issues.
1. She cannot send or receive MMS picture messages.
2. Visual voicemail does not work through the Phone, Sprint, or Tmobile apps.
After several hours of troubleshooting the guy on the phone said he was surprised I was able to get any service working at all. We all gave up at that point. My girlfriend is currently on a family plan with her parents and they are moving to Verizon next month. I want her to keep the pixel 5 but she needs to send MMS messages for work. I don't think she will want to wait a month to use her phone as it was intended, also if she does keep the phone I might have to factory reset it, reflash, and reroot the phone with the Verizon boot image provided by Google. I feel bad for her because this is her first experience with Android and it hasn't been fun for her.
Is there anyway to get MMS messages working? I've tried editing the APN settings but it's defined by the carrier and not available in the network settings(you have to dial the carrier code to view them and need a password to edit).
Any suggestions?

We tried but it says her number is not linked to imessage.
Can't really offer much here but to say the pixel 5 works perfectly on T-Mobile. Has to be something else on your end that's not working correctly, simple advice you've likely done is check APNs, make sure they are configured properly. You can add a new apn if needed. Take a ride down to the T-Mobile store, grab a new sim just to be on the latest...R15 I believe in case somehow the sprint sim isn't playing nicely plus the R15 you'll be able to access TMobile's SA 5G if it's in your area.
Lastly, your title is BS, you're having an issue, not an issue with the pixel 5 and T-Mobile, as said, they work fine together.
your problem is Sprint, not the phone.
drop Sprint like the bad habit it is. If you need cheap, go with Mint Mobile.
well Tmobile is working like a smooth butter for my pixel 5
T-Mobile works flawlessly for me on the Pixel 5. It sounds like you're using Sprint, though.
I have the factory unlocked model and I noticed I can't do video calls or enable RCS. Turns out those are only available on the carrier model (my carrier is verizon). I also don't have voicemail built into the phone app like with pixels or iphones—another feature that's only available in the carrier model.
Are there other significant features (and drawbacks) of the carrier version?
Because I'm considering flashing the verizon firmware to get the proper experience with my carrier.
I have the unlocked model as well and use RCS with Google Messages app, as for video calls. Google Duo is enabled by default and shows up in the phone dialer. I have the Voicemail app installed as a system app as well. Weird it's not on your device
Vid call is a feature that looks cooler than it is in practice. It's unnecessarily intrusive.
-Control the flow of information-
It was one of the first things I package blocked.
I had to call my voicemail once for visual voicemail to show up as an app. I'm on ATT, but that's what got mine working on my unlocked S21U
No RCS is huge for 2021. If I have to do it all over again I wouldn't get the unlocked phone. Now i'm stuck with unlocked S21 Ultra (no rcs).

My hatred of Google is boundless at this point and not sure what all the tradeoffs would be.
One sure one is that using any Google app is feeding the beast... the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I am on Verizon and still went with the unlocked version. I really don't see the big deal of RCS. If they respond great, if not that's fine too. I have no regrets going with the unlocked version and I don't need more bloat from Verizon.
I had the T-Mobile version and exchanged it for the Unlocked version with more storage. I still have RCS, video calling, and I have the default, non-Pixel Android voicemail setup. The only other thing is that my unlocked phone didn't come with all of the carrier bloat (it had around 10 missing and useless carrier apps). So for me, getting the Unlocked version was the best idea.
Basically, grab the unlocked version if you've got modern-tech intelligence (idk what else to call that other than being a nerd lol). The carrier version might be better for it's simplicity (but will be mostly hated by the really techy people out there).
I have the Verizon version, but before I ever fired it up, I flashed the U1 (unlocked) firmware onto this phone. I love the lack of bloat and I am able to utilize RCS with Google Messages. RCS is Samsung Messages is not available on the S21 Ultra in the US as of this time, so Google Messages is the route I went. I don't do video calling much anyway, but Goggle Duo is more than sufficient to me. And I have the voicemail app installed and it works perfectly without having to dial in to access it. No, it's not within my dialer app, but it works for me.

I can confirm that I am on Verizon and RCS works in Google Messages. One thing I've seen in other posts/threads is you need to make sure Carrier Services is installed. I can say that I had RCS without installing this, but I've seen others say it was necessary. As I said in the earlier post, I did flash the U1 unlocked firmware, but I've never had an issue with RCS not working in Google Messages since they circumvented the need for carrier support.

Keep in mind, the people you're texting need to have RCS enabled as well - otherwise is reverts to a traditional SMS. It's very similar to when people on Android text someone using an iPhone. The Android user gets no RCS and the iPhone user gets no iMessage. The good thing is that Google had initially offered Apple a direct implementation of RCS, however, they immediately turned it down and told Google to stay away... Quite a let down at how greedy and manipulative that company is...
Oh, and you probably need to be using Google Messages for the features that you mentioned to work anyway, as those features are implemented into Google Messages but not into Samsung's Messenger app.
