last years screen shot from carphone had nexus 4 white in stock so i wouldnt put to much faith into them...
Right, I just phoned Gary at CW.
He didn't have any in stock straight away, but when i told him to search LGNEXUS5WHIT he saw it on the screen,....he was pretty shocked that I knew what he should search.
Anyway, he said they are in stock but there's nothing he can do about reserving it etc.
he game me his number and name and said he'd be happy to keep checking. I told him he'll probably be inundated with calls tonight enquiring anyway.

I think I remember that as well
I'm going to go ahead and get excited about this anyways :highfive:
Ok so starting to get a little worried here.
They show 2 versions available (Black and Black & White) but are both 16GB versions? I mean what are the chances Google will launch 4 different versions of this phone in both colors and both in 16 & 32 GB versions?
Anyone else have their order cancelled this morning? I used the promo code THANKYOU10 so I wonder if that's why. Other than that idk why it could have gotten cancelled. The charge appeared fine on my card.

Fair enough... did you ever find out the reason for your cancellation? I was going to try that same code when I finally decide on a color scheme, but if that's the reason yours got nixed, I may just suck it up and pay the full price.
I used the code this morning. Order hasn't been canceled yet as far as I know. Did they email you to say it was canceled?

They emailed me that it was automatically cancelled. I got in contact with an online chat rep and she referred me to a number. I called the number and got tired of waiting so I hung up. So I never really found out why it was canceled. Could have been a system glitch butI'm going to take it as a sign that I should just save my money and wait at a later point to get a new device. Currently rocking a G2 so it won't hurt but I really wanted a Moto X.
My order was cancelled because the name on the credit card i entered didnt match the one i entered exactly... Missed the middle initial.
The charge also appeared on my statement, but never went through and disappeared about a week later. When i reordered, with the correction, it was fine.

I got the email around 7:30am and placed the order the night before. Now I'm deciding whether I should order it again or stick with the G2. Yesterday was basically an impulse buy since it was the first day for Moto Maker on VZW.
Could also be adding the accessories. Some people were able to get order to go through without accessories after not being able to complete order with them.

I've been rooting Sammy phones for a couple years, and jumped ship to the Nexus 6. I found the Nexus Root Toolkit to be the best way. Check it out.

This.
My standard message:
There's nothing wrong with toolkits themselves. They can be great, useful tools. We're not even saying they cause bricks either - though users not understanding things *could* cause one...Toolkits are necessary on many devices, but on Nexuses, the manual steps are very easy.
Ultimately it's fine to use a toolkit but *only* if you already know how to do all these steps manually. If you do not know how to do that then you should do it manually so that you do know. The reason for this is if something goes wrong further down the line, we don't want to have to teach you the basics AND tell you what you need to do to fix whatever issue you have. We just want to do the latter - because teaching someone the basics that they should already know when they are frustrated and panicking is not a good set of circumstances to be teaching under and it is frustrating to us more than you and putting us in that situation is a little bit selfish

Well being that the xda app will not let me start a new thread for some reason I guess I will ask it here since I started this thread on my computer. Does anybody with T Mobile on this phone or any phone I guess experience delayed text messages still? I'm going to be switching from Verizon and I hope I'm not going to kick myself in the ass for this. I had an unlimited data plan but just got in over my head with two edged plans and very expensive devices was paying over $250 a month.

Yes agreed, don't use toolkits unless you know how to fix things if something goes wrong or you f it up. Adb isn't that hard if you practice a little and there are many articles that will help with learning it.

We have two Unlimited lines and one 2GB line (i.e., kids are growing up). I spoke in the store with a Salesperson who claimed he could get me a discount on a family package with 6GB shared for about $10 less/month than my current plans. Plus, I'd be able to purchase subsidized phones for the two (previously) unlimited lines, again. I wanted to check this out myself online, so looked later that evening and couldn't find what he offered.
The next day, I called Verizon and a Salesperson couldn't reproduce that deal, only giving me the $20+ greater cost that I'd already calculated using their online plan comparison tool.
So, it might depend on who you talk to (or, if your request is even reasonable).
Friends and relatives helped me understand that coverage seems good for all the major carriers in our area - I'd probably first consider Sprint if our unlimited plans went away and costs went up substantially for very little data/month.

None, and I even had my wife text me just the time on the message of when it sent and it was within seconds I recieved it after she sent it.
She was about 20 miles away also
So I found this phone on Craigslist and couldn't resist buying it ( I know, bad idea). But basically, this phone has "Motorola Confidential Property. Not for Sale" printed on the bottom of the screen along with a Motorola logo and some numbers at the top of the screen. It also doesn't have the Nexus logo printed on the back.
I took it home, and it did not work with any sim I had. So i started digging around in the phones settings and bootloader to see if anything was different. I only found two things that were different apart from physical appearance:
1. Product Variant in bootloader says "shamu XT 1103 32 GB P2A" while all other Nexus 6's I have seen have "shamu XT 1103 32 GB P3A0"
2. The baseband in settings ends with a lowercase "p" instead of "R" (no matter what baseband I flash in fastboot).
One last tidbit that I thought was interesting is that this phones IMEI shows up as clean and ready to activate on any network but I believe it is because the IMEI does not exist in any database. I called Motorola and gave them the IMEI, and they said they found no phone on their database with that IMEI.
Does anyone know if their is a way to convert this to a functioning Nexus 6? I assume it is these differences and the unknown IMEI preventing me from activating the phone on my network. While I would like to get the phone working with my network, I mostly posted this on here to see what people had to say about the phone and maybe someone knows how to get it working on here. I can post pictures of the phone if people want.
I don't have an answer, but it would be pretty cool to get a "Nexus 6" prototype working. Can you take a picture of the phone? I'd be interested in seeing the front and back, or the differences. Thanks

Hmm, I didn't consider that. I don't think it is, unless the "Nexus 6" name mentioned in the settings/bootloader were somehow changed to that prior to me buying the phone. It does look a lot like it though, although the "M" logo in the back is different on mine then the one in that picture. The hardware listed in the bootloader also matches up with the hardware in standard Nexus 6's, unless both phones had the same hardware.
One other thing that helps prove that it is some type of Nexus 6 is the IMEI, which shows up as Nexus 6 on a lot of databases (although not in Motorola's haha...).
EDIT: if it is somehow the Moto x pro, maybe that would explain why the phone does not work in the states, and probably why the baseband is different.

Its possible, although the phone does recognize the sim card. it just shows no service (similar to how a phone with a bad IMEI acts). How could I verify if the sim reader was broken?

Looks like the M logo could be some kind of fingerprint reader.
Regarding the different Motorola logo on the back, I guess, that it could be a fingerprint sensor:
technobuffalo.com/2015/08/05/check-out-this-nexus-6-prototype-with-fingerprint-reader/.
It was planned, but removed. They even had it in their git: shamu: remove fingerprint support.

I think you and spartan are right. It feels like it would be a fingerprint sensor, although the M logo threw me off.
It looks exactly like the pictures spartan posted of the fingerprint sensor prototype . perhaps that is why my product variant is P2A and not P3A0.
Would be cool to get the sensor working.
2 things.
1. What wireless provider sims have you tried?
2. I could help get it working from a kernel side, but if you can't get your hands on the HW lib, it might be impossible

Buckmarble! thanks for replying. I have used your kernels in the past and they have always worked great for me
As for wireless providers I have tried, I inserted a Verizon and T mobile sim card (both working on other phones) and had no service although the phone did recognize a sim was inserted.
What do you mean by getting my hands on the HW lib?
Again, thanks for posting.

Well, I think I'm going to go ahead and sell the phone on eBay to someone that uses these phones overseas. I'm not confident in my ability to get the phone working with my network so I am trying to get my money back.
I explained to him what kind of phone this was and he told me that if it didn't work with his country's network he would return it to me. If he does end up returning it to me, would you be okay with me sending you a message asking for help with this buck?

Hi,
Very interesting phone, thanks for having taken the risk.
Before selling it, can you post the manufacture date (Bootloader -> Barcodes) ?
You said that it shows as an XT1103. That's the US Nexus 6. The XT1100 is the international Nexus 6. The Moto X Pro is XT1115.
What you have there is a prototype US Nexus 6.
Try an app like LTE Discovery to see if the radio is even working and detecting towers.
If the phone is, indeed, a prototype. Shouldn't it be running Lollipop instead of M with Nov. security patch? Strange.

It was running a developer version of Android 5.0.1 when I bought it but I flashed latest software from google.
So WTF? Is this what we have to deal with from now on. Why can't I go back to Lolipop if it came with it, if I want? Now I am stuck on 1 and only version of an OS with no way back. Is everyone going this direction, or who are the companies to look at, because I think my Note 4 will be my last in a long line of Samsung products. 1
It didn't come with lollipop, I'm sure security it the reason why they also won't let people roll back updates.

Get used to it. If it is a mainstream phone, it'll likely have a locked bootloader. The OEMs make far more money from the masses, governments, and corporations for whom security is an issue than they do from the minuscule number of consumers who want custom ROMs.
It looks like Google's Pixel will come with a locked bootloader if that tells you what direction this is going in.

Well Pixel is essentially just a rebranding of Nexus, and Verizon wanted to be different so they asked for their bootloaders to be locked. Everything else should be business as usual.
