[MOD] MIC gain / boost / higher microphone call volume - Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo Themes, Apps, and Mods

For some reason, the microphone volume of my SM-G903F was too low. It had some troubles and repairs, which may have caused it - I don't know. In any case, searching around online led me to this. I decided to figure out if something similar would work for the s5 neo, too - and I managed to create a working solution for me, so decided to share it with you.
Works for me, use at your own risk. I'm quite sure it can be uninstalled by formatting /system (and reinstalling your OS). I'm using LineageOS 16 on a SM-G903F. Please report here if it works on other configurations, too.
Note that you can check the contents of your phone's /system/vendor/etc/mixer_paths_0.xml and compare it to the one in my project - you should see soon enough if they're similar. "source code" + zip here:

Comments welcome!

Does it work in s5 neo?

Sorry, I missed your question - apparently the "subscribe" doesn't work like I expected.
It works on my S5 neo. It seems there are several types of S5 neo's, you can look on the sticker in the battery compartment, or in Settings, scroll down to "About phone" (at least, if you use LineageOS 16).

Hi mate can you help me out.
I need your exact mod but with the installer adjusted to work on Lineage 17 as this version gets "Error 7".
Would be a great help as I have been searching for three hours on how to replace three lines of code in a file I have root access too... im going a bit insane now.
I have tried manually pasting in the file, iv tried editing it directly, iv tried to figure out how the install scripts work and im at a complete brick wall... This phone is unusable.
Small update:
I managed to get past error 7 with a small edit, but seemling nothing was copied over, I cant see the mod or the 60-mixer file on my system.

[Q] Touch issue

At a certain point on my screen, the phone thinks I am touching it.
I dont know how else to explain it but a 'phantom touch'.
Its repetitive and very annoying.
It seemed to start after I flashed some custom ROMS.
I flashed back to stock (2.3.5) in the hopes of it being fixed but it seemed to follow me.
Has anyone had this issue/knows how to fix it?
Thanks
It was completely fine before flashing the custom roms? try re-flashing stock rom, don't root, do factory data wipe from the settings. If its still following you, it might be a hardware issue. and if that's the case, you might need to send it in. It should be covered from the 1 year samsung warranty. make sure you don't have the triangle

It seems to have just gone away on its own. Cheers for the help anyway, would have done this if I still had the problem.
It seems to come back when I flash a ROM.
I flashed the German ICS official ROM (which is great btw), and it seems to have come back.
Hopefully, someone can provide me with a solution, perhaps its a corrupt system file?
Still, it goes away when the phone is charging.
Any ideas at all?
I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I faced the same issue when I flashed ParanoidAndroid yesterday. In Settings>Device settings, there is an option of "screen sensitivity". I set that to 10 (the minimum, ie, the most sensitive). It was then that these phantom touches started. I set it to 100(max, least sensitive) and I couldn't get the touchscreen to register any touches at all. The Spen worked in both cases, so I just used that to reset it.
Anyhow, I believe that this menu is accessible via a key code on stock roms. I'm not sure of it, but it should be. Look around in the tips and tricks thread, all secret codes for the Note are listed over there. Then just change sensitivity to 20.
Hi, I think this seems to be the trick.
I was unable to find the code to access the settings menu you described.
However, I installed TouchScreenTune, and that seems to be working for the moment.
Will post my results in a few hours or so.
Thanks

Also, If you are able to remember/get the code that would be great.
I found a list of the codes but none look like they'll be what you mentioned.
Thanks again

You're right, I couldn't find one that'd help either. Hmm.
Do you still have the problem?
It hasn't gone away, but I think the frequency at which it occurs has reduced
Any other ideas/any other way to do your previous method?
Cheers
Okay so here is all the information I have.
No matter which ROM I flash, the issue of the random touching continues.
Ive tried without root, and tried a complete reinstall (by formatting all data and storage)
I found a CWM restore I made 6 months ago (long before the issue started). That didnt work either.
Things that DO work:
TouchScreenTune seems to greatly reduce the frequency at which at occurs by decreasing the sensitivity of the screen, however, it makes it harder to use the phone.
Plugging in USB stops it completely, but when its removed, the issue comes back.
I thought since it is following me through different ROMs it is a hardware issue.
Does ANYONE know a fix/heard of this before?
At the moment Ive resorted to using my old IDEOS (oh god) and have begun working towards a warranty rectification.
Thanks anyone who can help
Update from Samsung:
Issue due to motherboard/touchscreen
Cheers for your help

[Q] Flashed New ROMs, and Now My Speakers Won't Work :-/

Hey everyone, I decided against my better judgment to Root and ROM my HTC One. Through my trials of every currently available ROM on this forum, I'm pretty pleased with ViperRom, as it seems to be the only stable alternative to stock.
The problem I'm facing, however, is that somewhere between this morning and now, my speakers stopped working. The issue started after I got myself caught in a nasty boot loop that took the better part of 2 hours to get out of. Regardless of which ROM I'm using, I get no sound. I realize of course that there are three separate volumes for ringtones, media, and alarms. Despite turning all three to the max and ensuring I'm not in silent mode, I can't elicit any sort of audible response from my One. Even with headphones plugged in, I still get nothing. I know the speakers work, because I'm able to make calls on ViperROM, and the speaker works fine. (On CM10.1 and AOPK, I experienced the pesky calling issue where there's just silence). But other than phone calls, I get absolutely no sound, regardless of which ROM I'm using. Worth mentioning - vibration works just fine.
I'm using TWRP 2.5, and I've tried wiping caches/data dozens of times, as well as formatting the whole file system and starting fresh. I used CWM this morning, and upgrading to the most recent version (yesterday's release) is what I believe sent me into the boot loop. I've also tried the RUU approach to no avail - even in stock form, the speakers aren't working.
The only thing I can think of, is that there must be some part of the file system that contains bad config files, but is outside of the reach of the recovery's wipe and format features. In fact, using the format feature only clears the "sdcard" directory, leaving the parent folder and the rest of its contents untouched. Is there a way to clear that folder as well?
Anyways, sorry for the novelette. I'm open to any suggestions you guys might have. In the meantime, I'll have to use my One on vibe and forgo any sort of media entertainment
Thanks for your input.
I actually had an issue similar to this on my EVO 4G LTE except regarding the camera. Worked fine, flashed a ROM, no camera. Nothing worked, even having it replaced. I'd go ahead and have Sprint take a look at it. Erase all traces of your root and tell them it just stopped working.
This is certainly an option, but even in fully stock mode, the bootloader displays "Relocked", so I'm not going to be able to hide my tampering. I really don't think it's a hardware fault though... Surely it's due to something quirky on the root filesystem.
Relock the bootloader, and flash the RUU. The phone will be stock with no "tampering" messages.

I will give $15 to whoever can help me root my Galaxy Tab

Like the title says, I will paypal $15 (or more if you give me extra help) to whoever can help me root and upgrade my Galaxy Tab SCH-i800. I need it rooted and an upgrade to 4.0 or higher would be nice. I've tried one click roots and none worked. I've tried following youtube videos and they never turn out to work. Seems like cyanogenmod would be the best route, but I just can't seem to get it right.
Now, I've done my fair share of computing: I'm familiar with torrents, keygens, cracks, I've also accomplished several circuit board repairs for my car stereo, car window switches, and my macbook. But when it comes to software I'm more of an apple person, windows and android frustrate me.
I should also mention I made another attempt to root my tab last night. I was following a youtube video on how to use heimdall and I got pretty far and everything seemed to be working, but after the part where heimdall automatically reboots the tab it booted up like normal, but the touchscreen doesn't work. it senses my finger but the directions are off, like up is right, and down is left, and vice versa. Now I need to figure out how to fix this.
I'm exhausted after spending hour after hour googling all these problems and trying to understand all this android and root lingo. I figure I should just have an expert completely walk me through it so I can stop wasting my time sitting in front of my computer and so I don't mess up anymore.
Thanks!
You can try

it is for Sprint tab, but will work on Verizon tab.

I'm sure this is helpful, but the problem is I don't understand what all of this means, I've tried figuring it out but I screw up everytime.
Firstly, do you have access to a windows or Linux machine ... Aka not a mac

Yeah I have a pc with windows 7. I've tried several attempts with heimdall and I finally got it to work after watching a few youtube videos, and it rebooted my tab and I thought I finally got it, but when it turned on things were very messed up. the screen digitizer is Waaayy off, up is right, left is down, and vice versa. I don't think its communicating with the battery correctly since it says it been 100% for 3 days straight. also a big problem is it won't turn off.
I must have loaded the wrong file for something in the process and got something screwed up. Should I download all the stock firmware or software and reload it on my tablet?
Also back to rooting, I was talking to someone and they suggested I use odin instead of heimdall, they think I will have better success.
Also since I have your attention, I want to upgrade to 4.0 or higher. Do I root before I upgrade or after?
Thanks!
There are many resources on these websites... Www.xda-developers.com and www.rootzwiki.com. check out the forums for the galaxy tab. Both have step by step instructions on doing this. When looking for Roms, make sure you download the p1c ROM. Cyanogenmod and other roms use that designation. That is for the CDMA tab (Verizon and sprint). I've used heimdall and Odin. IMO they are both equally as useful and user friendly.
If your tab doesn't shut down, hold the power button down for about 8 seconds. It will shut down.
Which ROM did you flash when you started seeing the touchscreen problems?
Hang in there. I remember when I started tinkering with rooting and flashing Roms. It takes some time to understand and get it right. Hang in there.

Can you boot into recovery by pressing power-on and volume-up keys together?
If you can and you have installed a correct CDMA kernel via Heimdahl everything can be worked out and you can get to 4.0, not latest 4.4.2 though at this point.
However, the behavior of your screen suggests you installed a wrong kernel...
Hm
I've recently rooted/flashed my newly acquired sch-i800 to all kinds of roms. if you want me to zip up the heimdall files i've used, let me know.
alternatively, this is the guide i used:
well due to being a new member it wont let me link, pm me for a link to the guide i used.
the first rom i successfully flashed was the p1c download cm9.1 and corresponding gapps

[Q] custom ringtone and moto g2 running Lollipop

Hi,
This is my first post on any forum and I really apologize if i am doing something amiss but please consider my problem and let me know if there is something wrong that i am doing with my phone. I am not posting this on any specific forum cause i have tried the solutions provided already and i dont know where to put this one. I am from India and just got a Moto G (2nd Generation) 2 days ago and it immediately upgraded to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop through the wi-fi. The first upgrade had some issues causing the screen to freeze and go black. I called Motorola support and they asked me to do a factory reset post which things started off fine till yesterday morning when I tried customizing the ringtone. I have tried everything, every hint provided in this forum, in you-tube and in Motorola support forums and the call centre support but to no avail.
Things I have tried:
1. Placing the .mp3 file in the Ringtones folder in internal storage and selecting the same from settings-> sound and notification -> ringtones. The ringtone plays fine on selection but doesnt play when a call comes in. The phone just beeps.
2. I have tried renaming the file. There were no spaces in the filename before but still tried renaming it. Again the ringtone plays on selection but doesnt play when a call comes in. . The phone still beeps.
3. I have tried converting the mp3 file to ogg and then placing the same file in the Ringtones folder. Same result.
4. I used a File Explorer to go to the external storage, play the file through the bundled player and set as ringtone. It shows 'set successful' but the phone still beeps when a call comes in.
5. I finally called Motorola support. They first asked me to reset once again which I did and tried all the above again. Still no luck.
6. A second support person asked me to make a new 'Ringtone' folder in the internal storage and put the mp3 file there and try. Didnt help.
7. The final suggestion was to keep the phone in safe mode for 8 hours and then restart and try. When even this didnt help I thought of posting in this forum.
Also, I observed that all the old mp3 names (of my previous trials) still being listed in the list when browsed through Media Storage even if the old files are removed from the Ringtones location (this is persisting even after multiple restarts of the phone). Surprisingly, on selection it still plays. The list gets refreshed only if i do a factory reset. I tried doing a cache reset but was unable to go beyond the 'Android in Distress' screen. Pressing the Vol Up key for 10-15 secs and then tapping the power key doesnt do anything. I tried it for more than 8 times since the morning.:crying::crying:
Please note that all my mp3 are of high quality (256 to 320 kbps) and mostly >6 MB in size. I didn't see any limits on either so haven't tried toning them down. Should I?
Please let me know if there is something wrong that i am doing or something odd with the phone? My first ever mobile phone was a small, slim Motorola (12 years ago)and i really dont want to return this one.
Could you please help me out? Sorry for the long post but just wanted to make sure I didnt miss any details.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can't find anything on XDA relating to your specific, so I think it's best to ask the Moto G community if they can assist you. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your specific device forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):
Moto G (2014)
Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum (this is where your thread is going to be moved to):

Did you perform the factory-reset from menu or from recovery?
Thanks for moving my thread appropriately.
I actually did a factory reset from inside the settings and not from the boot. It was as per the Motorola assistance personnel's advice. Should I do a reset from the boot?
I guess I offended the 'gods of mobiles' (Motorola and Google). .
My Nexus 5 which i gave to my sister in US, supposedly just took an upgrade to 5.1 and the best it does currently is restart every 20 minutes. My Motorola isn't that bad definitely but slightly annoying every time a call comes in.
The only one chugging along smooth till now is my good old S3.
Sorry, coming back to the point. I actually asked a Motorola US support person through my sister in US and he had a slightly different reply. He asked me to wait for a week with the phone (max 10 days was his words). The phone would work fine soon. He said there were some initial issues with the upgrades which iron out given some time. He just asked me to restart the phone a couple of times every day. If things didnt work out he said I could return the phone to the online site from where i got it or get it checked at a Motorola service centre for free.
I thought about it and i think i can wait for a few more days trying out other solutions.

Fatal Signal 11 & Backtrace

So i posted this in the Unoffical Xposed Lollipop thread but i figured i'd make a new post since it isn't really related. Looking around i also can't really find similar issues to try to diagnose and solve myself unfortunately. Today after testing out GB on my S5Active and then removing it, since i found no real use other than slowing my system down i found myself with an interesting new Xposed log after, my phone ended up bugging out asking me to "Sign into a network" that i already had internet access through and been set up. It then restarted itself and sat in boot. Wouldn't finish so i pulled the battery and it started back up, checked the log and this issue started arising. I'm not even certain GravityBox is the culprit, but i got a damn good feeling considering how it's supposedly not TW compatible even though a bunch of TW users are posting about their successful experiences with it.
So, Since i lack an Nandroid backup because i had already lost everything previously including Nandroid in previous issues, would my best fix be reset and start from scratch for the third time? Or is there anything from the tombstone & log that would help figure out a solution rather than a fresh start.
Tombstone & Log attached
Edit: also it's on boot when this appears, doesn't really seem to effect anything. And only other thing I could see it maybe coming from is me editing my .xml for sd permissions, but I don't quite understand the code.
