SM-G977B - Flash to BTU not working but ODIN Passes - Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Questions & Answers

Hey all
Strange one here, i have a SM-G977B (S10 5G on EE UK), i have unlocked it and trying to flash BTU firmware on it via ODIN (download fw from sammobile)
It flashes ok and passes but when phone starts up its CSC is TEL! (Australia!!)
I have re done the flash with XEU and still the same. firmware version says TEL/TEL/EVR in settings
any ideas on this? can this model be flashed to a different region? i want it on BTU not EVR (EE UK)
tried few versions of ODIn too, and left all check boxes default
Thanks

ok, i have reflashed the latest EVR firmware back to the phone and it has taken this fine
Wonder why it doesnt like BTU or XEU?

What firmware files were you trying to flash specifically?
Sounds like you downloaded the wrong one. What are the names of the firmware files you flashed?

Hi
Tried these
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/BTU/download/G977BXXS2ASJ7/299842/
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/XEU/download/G977BXXS2ASJ7/299840/
The above all flash on in Odin, but when the phone starts (even with uk sim in the phone) it defaults to Australia language and 2x Telstra apps install automatically, software info says tel/tel/evr
I then tried this one:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/VOD/download/G977BXXU2ASJ5/299590/
And the above install the 2x Vodafone uk apps automatically which is fine as I am on Vodafone uk but in software Info is still says vod/vod/evr
What my issue is now is I don’t seem to get 5g on this phone even though I’m on a a 5g contract and has worked previously on a note10+ 5g handset.
Is this handset 5g modem locked to ee?

Did you enable OEM unlock in developer options before flashing?
I am waiting for delivery of an EE branded S10 5G tomorrow and planned to flash BTU firmware

OK, well I have always had to do that to change CSC via FW flash since the S9 range was released in 2018.
I am waiting for postman to deliver my S10 5G today so will try to flash BTU with OEM Unlock enabled, and let you know the outcome.
(If it doesn't work for me, i will do same as you and flash a network specific FW via Odin - H3G is my network provider).

If you go to software information in settings, does it say h3g/h3g/evr?

Yes exactly. My product code is also SM-G977BZAAEVR, so its always going to be an EE UK handset

Hello,
I have the same phone (SM-G977B), I exchanged it with someone in Shanghai (without a box, stupid me)
It was rooted with some CHC firmware (which did not let me download any Google play services), I tried to root the phone (my first time) and ended up re-locking the bootloader.
Later on, while trying different things, I ended up deleting the firmware from TWRP (as I formatted the data, cache folders/directories) as it was not booting up (bootloop on Samsung logo).
Long story short (and rather sad and stupid):
I have a brick phone which has no SD card slot, No OS installed, I do not know the original CSC (except that it was bought in some country in Europe), other firmwares does not flash with Odin (gives me Repartition error failed error), I am unable to mount the device (thought I could transfer the firmware using MTP), I can not change TWRP (downgrade or upgrade) as disk won't mount (for some reasons). I have formatted the disk, changes its format to ext4, ext2 etc.
Any ideas?

N920I new firmware

There is a new Australian voda firmware in sammobile. It seems like there are a lot update in the changelist. I have flashed the firmware but is yet to find any difference. Would really be glad if someone can help to point what's the difference other than the baseband and modem version.
In settings > about device, what is your Android Secuirty Patch date, if its December it will carry the 24 Security fixes as outlined on the Samsung Secuirty Blog.

Yes it is December. ..
Just to share another finding...I found an extra option which is not available in the previous xsa Australia version for VoLTE call. You can find this under setting and mobile networks.
Kuailan, which model do you have? I have SM N920I & no updates?

As I have mentioned in my first post, you will need to go to sammobile web site (you cant just check update for your phone manually). The firmware is for 920I model but it is a Vodafone released. My phone is 920I but it was Australian XSA flashed firmware initially but I have updated to this firmware now.
Australia models have VOLTE? Can you screen shot this for me please?

As I have said in my previous xsa Australia firmware I don't have this option. However once I flashed the updated voda firmware I have this option.
One important thing about this new firmware and funny at the same time:
All European languages enabled by default and somewhere deeper in CSC it says for Italy
EDIT: It seems to break TWRP recovery atm - Philz works.
Yes, all European languages enabled but i don't have VOLTE.
I have an international version of n920i (so no carrier firmware), can I apply the update and still be carrier free?

You can still apply the update. I don't think applying Voda firmware will mean it will lock your phone down to voda.

I don't think it will be locked to Voda but that it wipe everything or that it will load my note with Voda bloatware

Flashing firmware will not erase any data..all your stuff will be in tact. The only bloatware you probably get is only the voda app. But you can disable it...I have checked there is nothing else.

Even if applied through kies? (As in me downloading it manually and applying through emergency recovery and initialization)

Bro...why don't do the simple one...just use Odin and flash. It won't trip the knox anyway. Just make sure it's latest version of Odin ...otherwise won't work.
I have never flash through kies...but I'm pretty sure it won't affect your data. Just when you receive Ota update on the phone. Installing them won't erase your data.
many thanks!:good:

Flashing Full T-Mobile Firmware Onto Verizon S8-G950U ??

Hi I'm trying to flash the T-Mobile firmware from sammobile.com, but whenever I try, I get an error at 32% when it says Installing System Update. I attempted to flash CSC,AP,BL, and CP with it saying PASS in Odin. I really need the T-Mobile firmware and am wondering if it is possible to do? I determined that I cant install CSC files and get the error when I try. Any Solutions?
SM-G950U
Odin 3.12.3
T-Mobile Firmware:
PDA: G950USQU1AQD9
CSC: G950UOYN1AQD9
I'm having the same problem with an ATT phone flash with the US "U" unlocked version firmware. When I don't flash the csc it will start up only with the USB plug in but shut down after the beginning startup
Search for a "modified Odin". It was what I used to be able to flash unlocked firmware on a 7 and 7 edge a few months ago. The "normal" Odin wouldn't let me do it, but the modified one did. Though you may need to wait until it's been updated....I haven't checked it in awhile.
Still no solution to avoid the error to 32%?
Try this Odin. This is the one I used to flash the Canadian firmware on mine.
I managed with odin version 3.12.5! But only with BL AP and CP!
When I add CSC I get the error at 32%!
So a priori everything works, I no longer have the Verizon overlay (nor the logo at startup) more by cons I have duplicates in the settings menu ...
What is the CSC file?

The Canadian firmware you got it or? On sammobile I find it not:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U/
The Canadian firmware is stock or operator?
I would have access to all the bands?
Its the firmware with the "w" at the end. Please read this thread for all the information on doing this and make sure you want to do it.

so to do this we actually have to go to the canadian firmware first, do the csc change then flash the Tmo firmware? You can't just flash the Tmo Firmware via the modded Odin? Just to save confusion.
I would imagine it's worth it just to get the proper network options, VOLTE, WiFi calling and such.

This is the exact thread that I used. Follow the steps and you can skip engboot. If you flash the full Canadian firmware, its impossible to reverse. So, only flash whatever is in the steps. I successfully went from Verizon To T-Mobile and then back to Verizon. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/switch-to-carrier-firmware-100-t3609487

Can't change Australian Note 8 CSC - Stuck on Telstra

Hi Guys,
I purchased a Note 8 (950F) through Gumtree and although I knew it had the Telstra firmware,
I figured I'll just flash the regular Australian XSA unbranded firmware via Odin
and get rid of the Telstra branding as I have done in the past with other Samsungs.
Currently I use an Optus sim (which works) but have lost VoLTE and WiFi calling.
I have tried searching through these forums for a solution but can't get a clear answer.
When I flash the unbranded XSA firmware (BL, AP, CP and CSC, NOT Home_CSC)
I still get the Telstra branding and the software info remains on TEL/TEL/TEL.
Is this normal now? Are we forced to buy a phone from a network carrier if we want to use their services?
Or is there a way to make the switch but I am just overlooking something.
I don't want to root the phone or install anything custom as this will break some banking apps that I'm using.
Please help...
Currently I'm on XEF/XEF/VAU because just upgraded to Oreo, the original CSC is VAU/VAU/VAU
0. Backup your data
1. Download New Zealand or other country firmware.
2. Take both SIM and SD card out.
3. Flash the firmware of other country using CSC, not home_csc
4. Then check your CSC, should be changed.
I did't test the following steps, but I will try this weekend.
5. Flash back to Australia firmware.
6. Check the CSC number, should be changed to XSA
7. Insert SIM card.

Thanks for your input, I was considering this as I want Oreo as well but not game enough to try and mix other countries CSC's yet.
I read somewhere that Oreo will be widely available for most countries as of 1st of April, so I might wait till then and try again.
This does NOT necessarily mean Oz...
Remember, we are at the end of the list to get it as our stupid legal system upheld some patents on icons that Apple took out...
Also, if you're with any of the Telco's, add at least 6 months to that date...
Did you ever manage to get this sorted out? I'm in a similar boat to you, I have an Optus device but a Telstra Sim, when using the Telstra sim, I have no option for VoLTE, but when I use my Optus sim I do. Would like to get VoLTE and other features working on my Telstra sim.

is oem unlock needed for changing csc v3 bootloader and oreo

I have done several searches re the above.
As stated in a previous post I want to change my phone back to tel/tel/tel from xsa/xsa /tel ( xsa is generic unbranded phone in australia and telstra is a branded in Australia phone )
I have no oem unlock available as it has not been 7 days since I have flashed my phone.
should it be possible to change the csc without oemunlock with olin_csc not home_csc ( and using the other associated firmware files bl,ap etc)
and picking f reset time, auto reboot and repartition in odin .
You're good, oem unlock is only needed for flashing custom binaries.
I'm curious, how did you get xsa/xsa/tel? I have been trying to achieve this but haven't had success.. I have flashed stock xsa rom with Odin with CSC and wiped everything and it's still tel/tel/tel. I even tried Optus software and it never changes..

I did the below with oreo firmware
flash xef french firmware and setup without simcard or sd card ( you will get xef/xef/tel) then flash xsa firmware
both times use csc not homecsc. you will get xsa/xsa/tel
I
but even though I tried to reverse the above with the telstra firmware instead of xsa after reflashing french to try to get back to telstra but it did not I still have xsa/xsa /tel. no biggy samsung pay volte and richtext messages work still . Just thought I might get back to branded for something to do.

N960F/DS Swap firmware region

I have Note 9 with Indonesian Firmware and im thinking to flash Australian firmware. I checked the phone model number and its exactly same (N960F/DS). what im worried about is
1. if I flash Australian firmware, would I keep getting the notification if theres any patch / software update or I'll have to find the update manually?
2. if I still get the patch / software update notification, would I get the Australian ver. or the original (Indonesian) ver? (im afraid if its different)
3. Would Samsung Pay System work in Australian firmware? ( I read if you flash different firmware to the phone model, some functions wont work including Samsung Pay System).
Any help would greatly appreciated
1. if I flash Australian firmware, would I keep getting the notification if theres any patch / software update or I'll have to find the update manually?
if you flash the firmware with the Austrailian CSC, you will only get updates from carriers within that CSC in accordance with what network your SIM is connecting to. Only time you flash them manually is if you have an aftermarket recovery such as TWRP
2. if I still get the patch / software update notification, would I get the Australian ver. or the original (Indonesian) ver? (im afraid if its different)
see above
3. Would Samsung Pay System work in Australian firmware? ( I read if you flash different firmware to the phone model, some functions wont work including Samsung Pay System).
samsung pay doesnt work in certain countries period. that might be what youve been seeing

I tried to flash with Global Australian CSC (not for any specific carrier) and I was be able to get update OTA. Now, the problem is after I flashed Au firmware (incl, BL, AP, CP, CSC) with Odin3B, somehow the service provider software has changed to AUT/AUT/XID while previously XID/XID/XID which is weird. I tried flash using HOME CSC file and couple times I re-download the firmware and flashed other unlocked au firmwares (with android 10 version) it still gave me AUT (Switzerland) instead of XSA (Australia).
Any idea why?
