Disabling buttons haptic feedback? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Hi,
Is there a way to disable haptic feedback on successful face recognition and when double tapping the power button to launch the camera app?
I've tried every possible settings even in accessibility or dev options with no luck.
This is very annoying, hope there is a workaround, rooted or not.
Thanks

The haptics is like the best non-mentioned part of the phone! So much better than the Pixel 2 XL.

[Q] No Haptic Feedback options?

TL;DR : Phone has no haptic feedback or any options for haptic feedback anywhere. I remember it used to have them, don't know what to do about it
I've had my S3 mini for little under a month, and I remember having haptic feedback while typing, unlocking and while pressing stuff, as well as a set of haptic feedback options.
It sort of slipped my mind being used to haptic feedback for a long time, but lately typing hasn't felt right at all on my phone, and it took a friend to notice that my phone has no haptic feedback in most cases. There is no option for it anywhere, either (no option in the default samsung keyboard, no option under Sound settings or Power Saving either). The phone vibrates just fine during calls and has all the vibration options, and there's haptic feedback for a long-press of the middle button that summons the recent app list, but that's pretty much it.
I also disabled power saving mode.
Early on, when I got the phone, I installed both Ultra Keyboard (used it on my old droid and loved it), which for some reason does NOT work at all (app has an unexpected error when I open up the settings, and if I enable it as default keyboard it simply doesn't appear on my phone when it should, as if I don't have a keyboard at all) and SwiftKey 3, which I didn't really like, so I just reverted to the default samsung deal. I have no idea if this is relevant.
Google searches have been very unhelpful.
Am I nuts and does the phone actually have no haptic feedback options? Or is something wrong?
Thanks in advance!
With your keyboard app installed use this program called SELECT INPUT METHOD PRO from Google Play. You can then select your keyboard input. There's a free version to try out first, if you like.

How will that help me? I've lost all haptic functionality on my phone, not just from the keyboard. That and I'm not using any other keyboard than the default one.
As far as I can tell this only provides a shortcut to the input selection option.
I don't see how this is even remotely relevant
Haptic must be there, if u install a battery saver app there's always the option to turn it on/off.

I've installed no battery saver app. I simply do not have options for haptic feedback anywhere anymore.
Just looked on Elixir app and it says Haptic Feedback enabled. Try battery booster put widget on screen and enable haptic in green.

i too used to have the s3 and since i moved on to the s3 mini, i have been missing haptic feedback specially on the menu and back soft keys.
i wish there was an option or an app to restore that function again.
I couldnt find it full stop, not sure if it was there to start with in the stock keyboard, I ended up grabbing "Keyboard from Android 2.3" off of play and using that as that does have Haptic feedback enabled, still not found an option for it for Hard Keys though....
install Elixir 2, open it, select the first icon 'information', scroll down, simply press on 'Audio' and the third option will be 'turn haptic feedback off'
It will disable vibration as you (and I) wanted...although when modifying the home screen/adding or removing widgets it will keep the vibration...
hope this helps
Yep can confirm it works.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
So, is there any way to enable haptic feedback?
I already tried Elixir 2 but it does not work.
Using 4.1.1 by the way.
notice that to....after i root it the haptic feedback setting gone...if flash original stock firmware everything seems normal...not a big deal for me actually...
How did u enable haptic feedback in Elixir?. What did u do exactly.

It is not about haptic feedback on the keyboard but on the back/menu softkeys.

Accessibility settings issue

Has anyone realise the bug on the lockscreen when you enable any apps that require accessibility controls in the setting?
The things is you can no longer slide the short cut icons on the lockscreen when you enable the accessibility option.

5 Top Apps For Nexus 6p for 2015

Now here is a list 5 essential app that made my nexus 6p experience that more greater and hope it will do the same to you. Most of these app do required you to be rooted for the most benefits and can be found here on XDA or on the google play store. Also i want to know your top 5 apps.
1. Viper4android - Great for audiophile, you can turn a of pair of 50$ headphones sound like they cost 500$. Have your music sounding like you are in the studio.
2. Xposed GEL Setting- This app will let you keep your google launcher but add all the customization feature from Nova launcher and a few other.
3. Adaway- Must have if you like fast website load time but hate ads that take up the hold screen. Also save data.
4. Greenify- If you thought that Nexus 6p have a great battery life now. This will change your life with there new feature in the setting called aggressive doze and other enhancement. i'm get 2.5 day on one charger with moderate use. (you may be able to get even better battery life if you tweak your kernel/Rom setting.)
5. Navigation swipe With the great screen that the Nexus 6p have, i hated that the navigation bar took up so much of it. With this app say bye bye to the bar and hello to gestures. basically you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to the coordinating button you setup in the setting.
I hope you loved my top 5 apps for 2015. :victory:

Yes.
Good list, I had not heard of a couple of your selections. I'm always glad to hear about what's out on the interwebs.
My preference for robust gesture controls is GMD Gesture control, it allows you to pretty much program any gesture actions. I've used it for 4 years, you can't go wrong honestly. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol I use a 2 finger angle swipe to kill apps, 1 finger up flick in the top right corner tio turn the phone off. 3 finger V swipe to enable Waze. Double home tap for Google now. 2 finger pinch for recent. 3 finger swipe for app switching, 2 finger swipe tio go back with an app. And a lot more.
Another solid alternative to adaway has been the xposed module MinMinGaurd, you can find it via xposed, or here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/tw.fatminmin.xposed.minminguard but on a side notr, I enable ads in some apps that I really like, to support those that dont have paid versions.

Not sure how he's done it, but I have a swipe bottom right gesture that puts my phone into full screen mode. Then swipe right to jump out again.

Navigation Swipe is great! Thanks!
It was exactly what I was looking for.
I'm used to the nav bar taking screen space, but I'm worried about burn-in, and this app gives the fastest way of using these keys without showing them (faster than pie, and much faster than swiping up do show the keys and then press them)

i was able to hide it use a custom rom and just disable the navigation bar in the setting. The developer did had a early version that allow you to disable it in the app.
Several of the custom ROMs have the feature of pressing on an edge of the screen, i.e. right or left, which then brings up an overlay screen where you draw a shortcut letter - i.e. S for Settings and then it would launch the Settings screen. In Temasek's ROM, it's called Gesture Anywhere - I am unable to find the apk. The current ROM I am on does not have this option. Has anyone seen this either as an App on the Play Store or as a module for xposed?
Thanks, in advance.

Note 9 One UI issues

Okay guys.
Just got the official Pie update and it seems that a couple of features are missing.
First, long press "recent button" to split screen in two. (When using full screen gestures), like, there is no way to get another app while listening to YT with screen gestures.
Also, "swipe fast to right" to switch to the last recent app is not working when "Gesture Hints" are hidden
Also, I cannot make apps go into the "Window mode", like swiping from the top will not minimize apps, it will just throw notification bar.
Am I perhaps missing something here?
All that you've mentioned are missing and very annoying.

No, I found these, I just don't feel like swiping and tapping 5 times to get split screen instead of one single long tap.
I thought that split screen or at least previous app would be long swipe to the top, like with home button when you can activate Google assistant.
I just hope that they will bring that option in the near future.
I really miss fast switching to the previous app.

Sadly, samsung implemented a multiwindow close to how google do it and killed their great android versions multitasking ability. It's really not only annoying, but strange why they removed something that they were praised for in android 7 and 8 and before. At this point I better get an iphone as the multitasking is the same (irony).
To show you how rushed (and this sound even funnier given how much time they had) the android 9 is, I will just tell you that you can swipe home-hold and it will run google assistant (like the older home button hold). It's like common sense that they could had done that to recents too - swipe up and hold for instant split screen, but nope, they didn't. Never mis triggered the assistant when going home, so this is not the reason.
Also they removed the menu between two split screen apps, so if you want to switch their places (for example youtube and viber so you can watch the video that is on the bottom while typing) - touch luck b*tch, now you need to close both and open again in the right order rofl (also there was popout there in the same menu). They removed so many key functionalities on a phone promoted BY THEM for multitasking and staying on oreo is not an option for obvious many reasons.
Edit: also the exynos note 9 drop frames in the UI like it did @ oreo if not worse (after it's settled down)... so you got also that.
Issue that i have is in settings, security if i deactivate the Find my Device option, when i restart my phone the option has been reactivated. Also sometimes the full screen gestures so working.

Yeah sorry Samsung but your one ui is garbage, looks horrible and I can't stand looking at this navigation bar everywhere, no auto hide option at all now? I switch to the gestures option instead but swipe up for recents doesn't work at all. Also no update to their own good lock app and without that my phone looks even more like trash lol The notification panel is horrible, just a big white block with some blue buttons, my good lock one was so nice, also back to the boring old task switcher I was looking forward to this update so much, but it looks like arse...

I have no clue what the f were they doing while in beta, I mean, come on, no fast switching to the previous app if screen gestures are hidden.

Feature and productivity wise it's really a big downgrade. Also those notifications that take the whole screen... seriously. No thought put at all. All is done considering galaxy s10, I am sure of that... and especially nothing was done considering the note 9, even the rounded corners are matched for the s9 rofl.
Only things that a peeving me on Pie is the fact that I have never in my life used Duo or installed it but in my settings/accounts it shows Duo, I remove it but after rebooting phone its back??? that and the inability to deactivate Find my Device, I deactivate it, but after rebooting phone its reactivated again... any ideas (maybe with ADB to sort these 2 issues out?)

screen flickering when calling
Hello guys!
I have updated to one ui on my international galaxy note 9
I have an issue, the screen flickers when I make a call, it's very annoying, anyone facing this?
thank you for sharing information <3 :good:

Gesture navigation?

I've been using a OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 regularly and have become very much so used to swiping to go home, back, recents, etc. In fact, picking up my old Pixel 2 XL feels like a step back in terms of usage.
I understand there are apps that can mimic the gestures, but they aren't always 100% and can sometimes cause issues (Fluid N.G. definitely doesn't work 100% of the time and can be clunky feeling). The native gestures found on OnePlus, Xiaomi, Huawei, all feel great since they were made for the device and what not.
Based on every bit of footage I've seen thus far on the Galaxy S10/S10+, there are navigation buttons by default. Does anyone know if Samsung has made any gesture navigation to use instead of the buttons? I never thought I'd get used to using gestures but now I can't go back.
Cheers!
Yep Samsung does. Slightly different then others, but basically swipe up on left side to go back, swipe up middle for home, and swipe up on right side to go to recent apps. That is provided you have the navigation orientation the way it's supposed to be with back button on left and recents on right. Swipe up and hold middle for Google assistant
Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Personally I am not a fan of the Samsung gestures and 3 swipe zones can be complicated if you use different hands at times. It is one of the cons I am considering for getting the S10 as I would have to install fluid if I got one
you can completely hide navigations buttons in android pie - samsung - and use gesture (swipe left, right up down)
i am using them and it was difficult at first and i still get the random misfire but is better as you get 100% screen no button bars
you can find this option in settings
GMD gesture control does this and much more. I use it for years.

No, it's stock button layout. You can enable the gestures if you so choose.
Talking about gesture, anyone know how to activate/how works the gesture to close an app?
I can see it on a few videos but can't replicate it for some reason? Are we suppose to swipe up a few times?

Do you need to activate it?
I'm not talking about the bottom swipe, I'm talking about apparently anywhere on the screen swipe.
i switched from iphone x to s10
and am using the samsung gestures + FluidNG , but limited the Fluid Gestures to only back from left and right parts of the screen the same as i do with the iphone , so now everything is good without the need for ROOT etc..
Try the Good Lock app from Samsung Galaxy Store. The app gathers all the enhancement software from Samsung in it. The one hand operation + uses gesture and is configurable.
