Friends,
I have Indian K20 Pro device. which was updated to MIUI-V11.0.1.0.QFKINXM manually.
After the update, I am NOT able to use the USB tethering functionality. I can switch on the USB tethering, but the internet does not work on my laptop. I get "UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK" message on my laptop.
This functionality was working fine before the update on MIUI 10.

I need help, my Xperia ZR cant connect to 2.4 GHz networks, it detect them, but when you try to connect, they go all the way down and it appears as "out of range", I have tried several 2.4 networks, until today I tried with a 5.0 GHz router and it connected in less than 1 second, so I dont know how to fix this problem, I would appreciate step by step instructions, like what to download and how to proceed, noob style.
I have tried PC companion factory reset, I have the latest update, and it did not solve the problem, I found this solution, but I dont know how to do it or if it would solve my problem:
This is an official solution I found after weeks of testing and research. In the end, the driver is not loaded properly or by default, custom ROM created the havoc.
I noticed that when running ADB GUI, there is this file missing from /system/data/misc/wifi called WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini .
I'm using ADB Helper Version 4.2.0.0, under build.prop Viewer tab, choose wlan.driver.config it points to that location. I downloaded it from somewhere on the Xperia developer forum website. Then I modified and modified until I found the solution.
In this file I modified the line gDotMode=3 (which is running in N mode only) to either 1 or 2 which s "a" or "b" mode.
I rebooted the device and the wifi works and N mode is disabled meaning you wont be able to connect in 5GHz mode anymore. But you will be able to connect to all the CURRENT 2.4GHz AP.
I read somewhere where ICS android allows you to Enable or Disable 5GHz scanning of AP. But was removed from later versions.
Now, my phone can connect to any 2.4GHz WiFi.
Thanks for any help
I am using my note 5 and since few days i was noticing slight stutter while scrolling through home screens . Enable USB Debugging in developer tools and retry the process .
will it work by enabling it?
Hi everyone,
I was successful update OTA of Pie on my XZ2. I have a problem to connect hotspot tethering from my XZ2 to laptop.
Technically, it's show that my XZ2 is connected to laptop but "no internet"
I have try a reset password, reboot both phone and laptop but it is no luck.
Have any members here are having this problem like me? Please help to advise.
With regards,

I have same hotspot difficulty with pie. Devices connect to hotspot but receive no internet - and there seems to be no answers
Weird.
It works at my site.
Bluetooth and USB tethering.
H8296 rev2
German h8266 firmware.
Full wipe and flash with newflasher.
Using Linux Mint Cinnamon x64 19.0 on a ThinkPad T460P.
Usb3.0 & Bluetooth 4.1
weird and annoying.
usb tethering the same. Connects but wont give access with any device I care to try (other androids, laptop pc, desktop pc, linux, windows...)
My device - Syberia ROM on redmi note 4X (mido) - tried 2 other pie based roms with the same outcome.
I've had to revert to miui 10 beta as I need a hotspot...

WORK-AROUND : Managed to Wi-Fi tether using AdGuard VPN (which isn't really a VPN) and VPN Hotspot app - Both from xda. The data is coming through, YAY! now I can keep Syberia!
I think I've been lucky, I have a UK customised Rev3 H8216 and have hand none of these issues.
However I did get the banding on my screen ( after Pie update), I powered off my phone over night and it's not appeared since.
My point is that no matter rev version you have, There's a problem somewhere in the XZ2
Guys,
I could access internet via tethering hotspot by now.
I changed device name, new password and paired with my laptop. Then, rebooted again and again.
I am not sure if this few settings worked. It's work in my case in Cambodia.
Cheers,
MKR
Hello!
I am desperate and need your help.
My Mi9 Lite installed MIUI 11 this morning. Since then, mobile data stopped working. WIFI works, calling people works, sending SMS works but visiting the internet via mobile data does not work.
I tried following steps to fix it:
1. Turned phone on/off.
2. "Flight mode" trick.
3. Restored the APNs.
4. Manual setup of the APNs.
5. Factory Reset.
It still won't work. I think my sole chance is to downgrade back to MIUI 10. But maybe you have a fix for me.
Best regards,
de_camper
Try to reinstall the update. There is an option on three dots în the update section.
Hi,
I received my Global Mi11 Ultra yesterday, did the set up, upgraded to 12.5.3 and then wanted it to use as a modem on my Router. I am from Germany and many Germans do use Fitzboxes, my Fritz!Box is the 7590. So, i unplugged my Poco F3 and wanted to use the Mi Ultra instead, it did not work. No matter what I have tried, no.
I tried:
- factory reset
- different cable
- router restart
- USB Debugging
I also connected the phone to a pc to see if the USB is generally working, yes it is. So do you guys have this problem or is it just me?
Is there anything I could try?
Please let me know.
Greetings from Germany

USB tethering not work on my Ultra - EU version. My phone came from china with CN version and I flashed it with last EU.
Hi Niakoi, thx for your answer. So, it seems this is a huge bug. Hopefully they will fix it within the next FW Update. What FW version number are you on exactly, if I may ask?

USB tethering works ok on my 12 Ultra using latest EU weekly 12.6.2
I just plugged it in to my PC, set USB tethering on and the windows PC picked it up as an ethernet network, see screenshots
Thx for the feedback.
I used the unlock tool today, so I have to wait 168 hours from now on and will flash the famous EU ROM. Really looking forward to it, I am still stuck on 12.5.3
I found this fix that worked for oneplus I tested personally on my Mi 11 Ultr with official EEA 12.5.3 firmware and worked for me because I couldn't use it as a 5.0Ghz hotspot, now it is working
Here how you can fix the tethering problem (usb, bt or wifi hotspot)
1) Connect the phone to your pc via usb (debugging)
2) Launch the command prompt
3) Launch command ADB shell
4) Launch command:
settings get global tether_dun_required
If the result is "null" or "1" go to next step
5) Launch command:
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
6) Exit from ADB
7) Reboot your phone and try the hotspot.
I confirm this worked fom me on my global device with unlocked bootloader and official EEA firmaware 12.5.3
Hi xNAPx,
thx for getting back to me. I flashed my phone to the latest stable EU custom ROM 12.5.7. That did not fix the problem. I find that very strange.
Then I tried your approach and got this, when I tried to enter the last command. My result was "null" btw.
command: settings put global tether_dun_required 0

I really do not know what that means. My guess is, I do not have the correct write settings enabled? If so, where or how can I fix this? Please let me know, because I would like to try your method.
Thx and greetings from Germany

That's fine after you run the command just reboot your phone. Just be aware that the fix doesn't look persistent, switching off the phone for example will delete this setting and you need to run the command again. Another thing you could do is to modify the APN settings and put in connection type the value DUN after supl, for example: internet, mms, supl,DUN. But I haven't tried this myself
Hi again, just tried the whole process again, no luck. My damn, very expensive phone, cant do USB tethering on my router. That is very bad.
I could try to hop on the custom EU betas, but I am not in the mood to try that out atm.
Thx for your help.
Well my issue was with the hotspot not seen at 5ghz for me that worked, about usb thetering I can't say, I'm sorry it didn't work for you, try to search on Google, something will come out for sure. Most of the time same issues are find on other android devices
All I can say is:
Most MiUI Devices have this problem. realme 8, Poco (can't remember which one) and so on. Maybe its something between Fritz!Box (router) and Xiaomi. But it sucks big time.
