its been 20 days i got the rog 2 and things i find annoying are
1. the whole screen flashes green when FPS is scanning my finger (MKBHD also discussed this in his review)
2. when you double click the power button a yellow border flashes around wallpaper on lock screen ( this only happens when you have two different wallpapers for lock screen and home screen )
3. when i open armory crate and exit, it automatically becomes default home app.
4. i disabled some google apps (chrome, duo, youtube, photos) but these apps are automatically enabled and updated every morning.
5. lastly RED TINT

i think u have played with some option from the developer mode go there and try to turn things off and see how that goes
if not then a factory reset could do something for u if its a developer option thing

Firstly what firmware version you on? Maybe more details would help
1. I don't get a screen full of green, but the screen is slightly brightened with a greenish brightness. I assume this is the issue. Most phones (inc Oneplus phones) with optic FPS do this as the bright green FPS light also partly turns on other oled pixels. Some other manufacturers lower the brightness of the finger print sensor light, which then has the effect of inaccurate print reads. I dunno, I like how fast the FPS unlocks the phone, its one of the quickest - if the slightly brightened screen is the sacrifice, I'm ok with that :good:
2. I can't replicate this
3. I can't replicate this
4. Why do you need to disable these core google apps?
5. Red tint is hardware - its been slightly improved with the latest WW-16.0631.1910.35 firmware, but this oled screen has a dominant red gamut - every oled screen has a dominant colour (either blue, red or green) so just have to deal with it. :good:

Is it possible to change the screen color calibration other than just changing from Dynamic to movie / professional modes?
The biggest thing that bothers me about the Note 3 is that whites appear a cool blue, and not white especially on web pages and Facebook. Is this something that is possible to fix with a calibration or kernel or something?
There was a kernel for the galaxy s3, note 2 and s4 that had a very deep settings menu for color calibration (perseus kernel), but it only worked on exynos based devices, the dev said it was not possible for him to do the same thing on the ones with snapdragon because of a driver issue.. I will wait sit for this, at least you have a cool screen, mine is green and horrible. Let me suggest "filter my screen" on the play store , its just a filter, and it ruins pure blacks, but with it on the whites are decent now.
Thanks. Does anyone know anything else that may work?
Open the settings menu, tap the device tab and scroll down to accessibility. Turn on "color adjustment". Now you are suppose to tap the color box that closest represents the box shown. You can repeat this process over by pressing menu.
Hi All
I have only been using these forums for a week but it is clear that a lot of people (like me) have concerns about how best to set up their G Watch R to avoid burn in, prolong battery life, etc. I have put together some of the advice that users have kindly given me. I’d welcome people’s input on this, to clarify anything I’ve missed and in particular answer the questions I have added below. It would great to set this up as a Sticky so new users could set their watches up correctly.
Colour Schemes
• ALWAYS use more green/red themes (and combinations - yellow, orange) because red and green are the most resilient OLED compounds.
• AVOID using BLUE in "always on" mode.
• WHITE has a lot of blue in it ... so, a long time of white theme usage will create burn-in in all colours, especially in the blue colour.
• Remember on OLED, black means "off". A mostly black watchface burns almost no juice.
• When you define a bright text or colour, look at the hex code of the colour : XXYYZZTT where XX is hexa code for transparency, YY is red level, ZZ is green level and TT is blue level. ... so try keeping the last two hex numbers in the low area, meaning below 100 (00 means 0, FF means 256, as colour intensity). – HOW TO DO THIS?
• HANDS AND HAND MAKERS ARE OFTEN WHITE, HOW CAN WE BEST USE THEM?
Style
• Avoid thick bright lines
• Keeping one pixel bright (because it's in the middle of a thick line) is something you absolutely need to avoid, for example, on analogue hands the middle won’t move.
• Display digital clock in small thin font
• Android wear shifts the whole face a few pixels in different directions every now and then to try to eliminate some of the burn in.
• If the respective elements are no more than 2 pixels wide, they will not cause that much burn-in because the dim mode pixel shifting will move that object around enough to let the main pixels "rest".
• The time, if is displayed in the analog style (with dials) will not cause burn-in because the bright part of the image is moving around so one can use brighter clock hands for this.
• WHAT ARE THE BEST STYLES TO USE FOR DIGITAL AND ANALOGUE?
Brightness
• NEVER use it at max (or high) brightness more than few seconds with a static image.
• Use very very VERY LOW brightness always on/dim mode.
• It's not constant illumination that is causing burn-in in the first place, but constant illumination with "high brightness".
• Default DIM mode of the Watch G is waaaaay to bright for the purpose of the "dim" mode - HOW TO CHANGE THIS?
• A black, transparent layer is needed on top of the dim mode in order to prevent this – HOW TO DO THIS?
• To adjust just the dim mode face only you'll need to use one of the face making apps and duplicate the parts and make a separate dim mode.
• HOW CAN WE BEST SET UP BRIGHTNESS FOR “ON” and “DIM” (USING APPS LIKE SWAPP TRUE DARK WEAR)?
Good Watchfaces
• Almost all the watchfaces from Smartwatch Bureau F01,F03, V01, V02... A45, A42.... have a setting for brightness in dim mode. So we can have a dim mode very dark and we can choose the face color for dim between 7 colors : green, blue, cyan, red..... so with this faces we can avoid easily all burn issue.
• Also the digital from Smartwatch Bureau which can be displayed in green in dim mode to avoid burning
• CAN PEOPLE OFFER SOME EXAMPLES OF GOOD WATCHFACES (INCLUDING CUSTOM FACES) AND DISPLAY SETTINGS THAT WOULD HELP TO AVOID BURN-IN?
Useful Apps
• SWApp True Dark Wear – to set the brightness below the lowest default on the watch
• Stuck Pixel Fixer for Wear app - Try running "stuck pixel fixer" for few hours, with the display set to max brightness. That should help getting rid of the ghosting and also will "age" your pixels in order to be able to display static images w/o burning.
• Mini Wear launcher – also allows you to set lower brightness setting
• CAN PEOPLE OFFER TUTORIALS ON HOW BEST TO USE THESE TO SET BRIGHTNESS AND “ALWAYS ON” AND FIX ANY GHOSTING ISSUES?
Your input would be most welcome

Mate i think your over analysing ! its only a watch!
All i have done is change my watch face every day and use it as normal! ok i do have it set to screen off but even so i do think you can over worry about things like burn in. The majority of people who own these watches dont come on forums and i bet none of them suffer burn in!
And be honest, by the time it could get a problem you probably already got the other latest greatest. I bought it, use it and didn't even check if there's burn in. I change faces now and then, finished!

You could have given some credits for the source of information in the first post ....
As a tutorial: Create your custom watch face using WatchMaker or Facer (I also bought Facer to test it but I personally use WatchMaker because it's more versatile).
All the hex codes described above were in direct relation with custom watch faces or with image editors where you can choose all those parameters.
You can simply download a watch face that you like (for these custom build softwares) and learn from its internal settings.
Good luck with your new toy.
It has been reported - XDA, ZenTalk - by multiple Rog2 owners, that their displays show red discoloration under certain circumstances.
The two contributing factors seem to be screen refresh rate (higher freq -> more red tint) and brightness (lower brightness -> more red tint).
Steps to reproduce the issue:
1) Go to a dark room.
2) Add "Screen Frequency" toggle in the status bar, and lower the status bar to show the toggles;
3) Lower the brightness to 40%;
4) use the toggle to swap frequency from 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz.
If your unit is affected, the color of the dark grey areas on screen will increasingly shift toward red as you increase the refresh rate.
Is your phone showing these symptoms? Please share your experience by participating in the poll above.
Same here, hope its just SW issue and will be fix on future updates ?
Yep, I find it most annoying when i'm in a dark room and viewing images or talking over video whatsapp, the pics/vid colours are really dark and reddened, especially skin tones...
to all who answer the poll, pls take photos from the display with another phone and tell us their varriant
specially those who said no!
it seems like my phone doesnt have 40% brightness rofl.
it goes from 39 to 41.
but i dont have that issue with under 40% anyway..
Just a quick question, has anyone tried with an actual grey background? I get the same effect on the screen when the top bar is pulled down but if i look at a grey color palette i do not have this issue. I think its just a issue with the color overlay that asus has set on the top and bottom bar.
Yeah, the red tint is there under 30% brightness at 90 and 120hz, but not as intense as in the picture ?
Only noticeable with nightlight on for me. At lower than lowest brightness controlled by app.
I've only noticed it with the pull down quick menu. but TBH im 50% or above brightness anyways. You can tell the oled panel is red biased - something thats common in industry with oled manufacturers. Samsung went through a yellow and blue bias, Sony had a red tint issue.. Doesnt really phase me as the phone is otherwise sublime
Look, I am telling you, all the units have the same effect.
Those who voted no they are liers that are practising fanboyism or they don't have the phone at first place.
Anyway, if you cannot get along with that then I advise you to return it/sell it and get a device from another brand.
change Theme will help maybe other dark theme.
because white theme not that effect
if anybody vote No, I think they don't use dark theme with orange color.
Yeah there is no lottery here as all displays are affected. Just people in denial or people with the wrong settings who say they have no red tint
not sure if it's just me, but mine seems to have more red tint when the refresh rate is set to 90hz compared to 120, and no red tint at all in 60hz

Would you mind if you can take a screenshot with low and high brithness just to show how it looks as you saying you are not affected by the red tint would be greatly appreciated

You have to take photos of your screen with another phone or camera.
Screenshots are grabbed directly from the frame buffer of the phone, i.e. they show what the phone intends to display, not what it actually looks like on screen.
So in my device its like this,
at 0-30% brightness with dark mode on
60hz - 40% red tint, 90hz - 10% red tint, 120hz - 30% red tint on grey backgrounds .
at 40% brightness and after the red tint goes away.
so weirdly there is less red tint in 90hz mode.
People who have affected devices, can you highlight which variant of ROG2 you have?
For me:
Tint : No
Variant : Tencent
P.s: i believe that the indian variant is mostly being reported to have this issue.

Mine is indian variant and yes its being reported in mostly indian variants.
So I bought my S21 Ultra last Friday. I lie with my mobile in bed late at night with brightness at its lowest with "dark mode". Notice that when I have dark gray backgrounds and open the keyboard, horizontal lines appear (thin light lines). They disappear as soon as I close the keyboard.
Someone who can test if you see the same thing?
So If I sent it back to samsung I can say that i have asked owners and they dont have that problem.
1 set brightness at minimum
2 darkmode on
3 120hz on
4 high contrast on keyboard
5 total black rooms
6 open play store and press search so keyboard appears
7 now I see thin lines (which disappears completely when I close the keyboard)
It looks like this
If it is application dependent (appears only when the keyboard is active), it might be a software alrifact.
Also, please bear in mind that OLED displays, when set to minimum brightness, might have a problem with displaying uniform colors. You might see clusters of tens of pixels that are just a tad bit brighter than the ones around. I've noticed this with every OLED display I have used in the last decade or so.

Ok thank you.
Yes it's only showing when i use the keyboard.
My old note 10 plus did not have this problem.
Different screen, different version of Android and Oneui, maybe even different keyboard, keyboard version or theme.

What model, carrier and software build do you have?
Software build: (settings > about phone > software information - last 4 digits of SW build number)
Is this happening in all the apps? or just the email as shown in the picture?
try it on safe mode and see if it still happens. maybe you are using a third party keyboard?

Display issue at 120hz and low brightness
My note 20 ultra has vague gray horizontal lines when displaying a gray background at the lowest brightness when running at 120Hz but it disappears at when the brightness increases or when switching to 60hz. Is this normal for AMOLED displays ?

Strange no one can test it so when i send it to samsung and maybe get a new phone and the same thing will show on that one to..
Hello. I seem to have an issue with the brightness. Even when on max, white colors look yellowish. Like there's a yellow tint or filter. However when I open certain apps, for example my homebanking app, when I press the Fingerprint button to read the fingerprint, the brightness instantly goes back to max and with a vibrant white. As soon as I enter the app, that yellow "filter" comes back.
Generally it has that yellow look on the whole phone, but like I said, when I open certain apps it boosts to that bright white, but then returns back to the yellow look. Its like there is a sudden change of brightness and then returns back to "normal" yellow filtered look.
Is this a bug?
Disable "conforto ocular" and "Tom natural".
