[Sprint] Unlock Bootloader? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

I know the Sprint bootloader is locked, but does anyone know if there will be a way to work around this?
I have seen some threads on a trick to unlock the Verizon bootloader even though it also comes locked- would this work for Sprint? Thanks
UPDATE: What is the Pixel version of MSM/ODIN? I know how to get to EDL mode on it, but from there how would you go about flashing a different firmware to potentially get around the bootloader? Anyone know?

Nice one I'll try that tonight when my phone comes ?

Got my sprint version yesterday through bestbuy, came locked I booted up with no sim or activating the esim and skipped everything and is still grayed out for me even after factory reset and just signing into wifi... sucks.

Why didn't you activate the eSIM option? Went smooth and easy for me on my unlocked Google version.

Mine is not the unlocked version and I read a few threads saying it isn't grayed out if you don't activate the sim first, but alas it was still locked.

Anyone know if the sprint version is unlocked for other carriers

[Q] Updating Question

Dear All,
I have recently bought a used Moto X (AT&T) unlocked. Current system version is 140.44.5.ghost_att.ATT.en.US. My question is will updating cause it to carrier lock again??. Because it has downloaded an update and it keeps notifying. The downloaded update version 165.44.1.en.US. I am afraid if i update my sim won't work. So anybody has experience regarding this.
Thanks

I haven't applied any hack yet. I bought it used "unlocked". It has an AT&T logo on the back so it was locked to AT&T before. Now if i perform an OTA update.. will it get sim locked again. I do not mean or care for root. Just my sim should work. I hope i have explained well.

Sir to make this clear for you let me guide you through what sim unlock is: A Sim Unlock is performed over Cellular networks.. It does not have any I repeat ANY concern with the software of your mobile phone. When you unlock your sim through an unlock code the IMEI of your phone gets registered over Cellular networks so in easy words The unlock happens in air not on your phone. So whatever you do with your phone you will never ever be sim locked again because the IMEI of your phone has been registered permanently on the network when you unlocked the sim before. So feel free to do any kind of thing on your phone dont hesitate .

[Q] Just Got My Nexus 6 From Google Store - IS IT UNLOCKED?

Hoping for some help here...
I ordered my nexus 6 from Google Store while it was on sale for the "Father's Day and Grads Sale". I saved $150! I haven't gotten my invite for Project Fi yet, but really wanted to save money on the phone.
Is this handset already UNLOCKED?
Is there a need to ROOT this handset?
Thanks in advance.

You can but if you don't know how to use the official google fastboot method, we'd recommend doing it that way as fastboot knowledge is very handy
FYI, it will be sim unlocked, but the boot loader will be locked.

you can, but I'd recommend doing g it the right way the first time. anyways, bootloader needs to be unlocked, you flash a recovery, then flash SuperSU. when you boot up, you'll have root.
Nexus devices do not come with unlocked bootloaders, they come with unlockable bootloaders. You'll need to unlock it.

T-Mobile stock firmware on SM-G920T factory unlocked version

I recently purchased the G920T factory unlocked version on eBay, is it safe to Odin any T-Mobile stock firmware, any info will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Once you above a certain firmware you can't go back. What firmware you currently on?
It is currently on G920TUEU3COK1 can I Odin to the latest T-Mobile G920TUVS3DOJC I understand that I can't go back but is it safe and will it function normally, thanks for the reply.
i have this same question because from what ive read 3COK1 is for Cellular South (aka C Spire). while the 3DOJC is for Tmobile, both under the G920t firmware. are you also on tmobile network with this phone?
What are the benefits of flashing T-Mobile firmware on the USA factory unlocked phone? I have this phone on T-Mobile and wifi calling works. I also get great reception. I assume this phone will get Marshmallow months before T-Mobile releases their build

Are you getting LTE on it.
So I flashed the C Spire firmware and it asked for an unlock code. I flashed back to the original tmobile firmware and it is still locked although it was unlocked before, but the device unlock app says its ineligible for unlock now.
Anybody else encountered this?
Call t mobile customer service and ask them. They can adjust their servers and then the unlock app will work.

I'd advise that you dont.
To unlock it I had to flash back to the original tmobile rom. From the tmobile rom, the device unlock app failed in different ways.
After i called tmobile over and over I got it unlocked (like 2 hours of calling).
Hurts my heart to see all the tmobile bloat, especially when i dont even live in the US, but at least my phone works

Unlocking T-Mobile variant

As we all know, in order to unlock your bootloader , the device needs to be sim unlocked from tmobile. In order for that, the device needs to be fully paid off and active for 40 days.....or does it ? Maybe im crazy or have missed something in the past few weeks but i just opened the unlock app and requested a permanent unlock and viola ! Unlock approved. Again i may be late here but if you are reading this and have not paid off your device yet, try your luck and let me know how it goes. :victory:

Is it required to unlock the bootloader if you don't want to root?
I'm not interested in rooting or custom roms at the moment for this phone. I want to unlock it so I can use other sims besides Tmobile while I travel. I also want to change it to the stock OxygenOS so that the second sim slot becomes available. Can I just unlock the sim and then flash it to the international OOS without unlocking the bootloader? I've read that it takes your phone's DRM from L1 to L3 and not everyone has been able to restore it back to L1 after re-locking the bootloader. Or is there a way to guarantee you can get it back to L1?

Just do the conversion process install 9.0.11 via local upgrade and relock bootloader with fastboot oem lock I did it last night in about 15 minutes. Now running open beta 2 on the T-Mobile variant. I get my dual SIM tray tomorrow and will officially complete the conversion.

Need Help with bootloader unlock

I bought a new Pixel 4 xl when I tried to set it up, it gave me a notification " Your device is managed by your admin". I tried to enable OEM unlock but it was grayed out. I updated it to Android 12 beta I don't see the notification anymore but still can't enable OEM unlock nor even unlock the bootloader.
I want to unlock the bootloader is there any way to do it?
The phone is carrier unlocked it accepts every SIM card on both Physical and esim.
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it's not an unlocked Verizon or T-Mo 4XL? They can be carrier unlocked but still be bootloader locked and I'm not sure if there's any way to tell by the model nbumber or IMEI.

Just as an aside, I got my 4 XL from T-Mo when they had a sale and couldn't get the bootloader unlocked, but the Soli chip went bad under warranty, so when I sent it back to Google, they sent me an unlocked (both carrier and bootloader unlocked) replacement.

Could be that google had some type of admin on that is preventing OEM unlocking

Because you are BL locked the only two things you can try are a factory reset from recovery, and flashing a full OTA from recovery via adb. If that doesn't work, I'd be trying to get my money back.
Since your IMEI is permanently stored in a school or company database, the admin error will likely return when the device phones home (at first boot when wi-fi is enabled) and from the sounds of it, a policy has been set to prevent bootloader unlocking. That phone may be new to you but it is likely black market.
Now I understand the problem. I have tried the reset option and full OTA update in Android 12 the error isn't here anymore but OEM unlocking can't be enabled.

Yep. Looks like you were ripped off and will never see the full benefits of having an unlocked phone. Since it was "new" I would be getting my money back.
Oh thank God I came to know this before I buy the phone for myself. The problem is actually happening in my Uncle's phone.
Might have the Verizon variation
