If you run into a dialer force close issue, check out this fix. Simply flash the file in Clockwork just as you did with the ROM. No wipe necessary.

let kabaldan finish it's cm6 first ... if he commits his sources to a public repository, other developers may jump in and change our milestones
i´ve seen this is ported to droid so porting the home app to milestone it shouldn´t be that hard i would love to give this a try !

what you see in front of you , is not always "just a launcher", so beware, it can be a lot harder to make it work on milestone, as droid has no strange baseband problems(12+ different variantions + drivers changes), no bt,gps, gki system as backend to handle communication.
and finally, it might have less memory and can look nice, but reloads alot. which is not a problem on droid with swap and compcache options enabled.
someone please tell me what dialer this is using..
that looks like the perfect smartdialer for me
Doesn't look anything special anyway? :/

yes please stay on topic, we need to know if someone wants
to try to port this to our Motorola Milestone, the UI looks very nice
and fast to me + this ROM looks like no other so we got more different
options to choose from to install
Hopefully kabaldan can take a look at this thread and the Droid ROM

Wow that is a sweet ROM ... its kinda like what I imagined Android should be (iOS + widgets + Google stuff).
Its awesome because it basically borrows the strengths of both Andriod and iOS and makes it into a hybrid: very intuitive user experience that supports advanced features.
I really dig the whole layout: just one place where you scroll pages (not double like Galaxy S's TouchJizz).
I think its awesome how you:
+ have only one main area where you scroll (unlike Galaxy S)
+ you have a cool looking arrow (that indicates which screen you're at)
+ the arrow is positioned in a great location
+ the arrow allows you to quickly scroll between them (your fingers dont need exercise!)
+ can have unlimited "Home" screens
+ easily rearrange them (so you can move groups of Apps easily)
+ can manually choose the main home screen is also awesome
+ can easily delete Apps from the home screen (that rubbish bin at the top is so cool)
+ enter "edit" mode on the homescreen (displays the boxes)
+ add Widgets in this weird but wonderful way
+ easily rearrange Apps and folders
- too bad you can't place folders inside folders (which isn't a big deal and actually helps keep things simple, but I still prefer having the option)
- too bad you can't make shortcuts of Apps (making it impossible to launch Apps from several places/homescreens)
- too bad it doesn't support haptic response (...that would be so cool!)
- too bad it doesn't work in landscape mode (I have an idea how this can be implemented in a great way, I will make a mock-up if requested*)
I also dig the intuitiveness of:
+ the controls/shortcuts for wateva screen is always located on the bottom (familiarity/cleaness)
+ Apps automatically get a coloured backing like on TouchWiz, to make each App look more familiar (retains order) but with its curved sides it still retain some funk (reminds some of the iPhone, in a good way)
+ I like how the page bounces when it hits the end, while kinetic-scrolling
+ the transitioning (page quickly zooms in when opening/zooms and fades out when closing)
+ I like how the Widgets/startbar/notifications tab are transparent (requires a theme that can change these collectively)
+ like the space to put 0-6 Apps to launch from the App-dock and re-arrange them easily
+ like the large icons on the bottom of the Contacts page
+ like the large icons on the bottom of the Dialer
- the Music App has the same thing but its located on the top row (they forgot?)
- the App-dock doesn't let you put any folders into it, shame (but probably an easy fix)
- the dialer could've been improved by taking some cues from the the Galaxy S... if requested I will make you a mock-up**
- the settings page is just stock Android, they could've decorated it slightly like on the HTC Sense ROMs (probably an easy fix)
I loved how you can scroll the "functions" buttons in the notifications tray but overall I didn't like it as much as the Galaxy S's, its great but I see some areas of improvement:
- i think they should've have 4-larger "functions" displayed instead of 5 smaller ones
- i think somewhere in the Settings they should've made an option to Add/Remove some of those functions and arrange the order according to the user (like having a second App-dock but instead for system tools, a Tool-dock!)
- i think it needs the controls for music/movies (the media player) in the notifications tray like the Galaxy S (that's actually awesome)
Other things that would make a killer experience on an Android phone is if they also had
1) the "hibernate" function that intiates when you switch off your device (new HTC Sense),
2) a customizable theme that's consistent throughout Widgets/Folders/Pages,
3) and 3 main buttons (no need for trackball) to make the experience intuitive;
Left button***
= press is back (works the same way already in Android)
= hold (1.5sec) is Force-Close the app (which is so handy in Android that its not funny)
Middle button***
= press directs you directly to the "main" homescreen
= hold (1.5sec) opens you another page that "previews all currently running applications" (which is great for speedy multitasking)****
= See this just as an example for what happens when you hold the Home button http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4013/4355688804_68ccaca964.jpg
Right button***
= press initiates the Menu function
= hold (1.5sec) initiates the Search function (just like on the Galaxy S)
And arranging the buttons in this order allows easier use for users because it is intuitive (majority read left-right, buttons function in that same order ... WP7 actually got this right)
I think that is the best way to go about Android ROM's (with my slight improvements) as a Froyo build. So yeah, this is about 90% finished of what I envisioned/want from Android (for the DEXT/Milestone2/GalaxyS). If you want to visually see what I mean at the (*)'s, I can do so if you are wanting

Sorry for that, I guess that I decided to postpone my reply and then forgot. Sometimes I'm not in the social mood, my friends are used to it .
I hardly find the time to focus on the bugfixing and improving of the CM6 port. I will not start any other project anytime soon, otherwise I could loose my wife, daughter and job .
believe me that if you just take 15-30 each day you will make it...and i'll be happy to know that someone's working on that
By the way YOUR ROM ROCK!!!
Hi people, after testing a couple of custom roms in the search for better performance I have figured out that the official MIUI rom is the best in performance, stability and battery management. (With some tweaks)
First tested the crDroid rom posted here. It is beautiful, simple, lighweight, the first time I flashed it I made the mistake of enabling aditional protection with pattern, then everytime it booted started of asking for pattern before boot (taking more time), getting slow, it crashed once, reflashed, didn't activated the aditional protection and everything worked good, only the proximity sensor where not working, the performance in UI was great, but gaming it didn't.
Second I tested Bootleggers ROM posted here. It's beautiful too, even more, the splash screen after logo is amazing, in my experience it works better than crDroids, all features worked as intended, very fluid UI, face unlock didn't work as in crDroids, voice match did it, but in gaming it was the same, the performance where not as good as it is in MIUI.
Some things to take into account:
-I flashed both of them with Open Gapps Nano from here used ARM64, Android 9, nano, it
worked better than the pico included in both posts because with pico voice match was not working.
-In both roms flashed Evira Kenerl 1.9, maybe isn't compatible with crDroids rom and because of that the proximity sensor where
not working, in Bootleggers rom Evira Kernel 1.5 is included, so there doesn't should be any compatibility issue.
-The game that I tested in both was PUBG Mobile, any of them played it in full screen mode (the notch bar), in MIUI it is played in
full screen mode.
-I use MIUI Global 10.3.5 debloated with Saki/EU tool from here and Evira Kernel 1.9, no battery savers from Magisk
What I saw is that the battery performance is almost the same in any of them, the system performance is fluid in any of them, including MIUI, but games performance is better in MIUI, there are no bugs (for what I know), face unlock works great, the fingerprint recognition in MIUI is better, stock camera offers manual mode, Gcam port from BSG is the best one and works perfect in the roms that I tested, and the most important thing that I noted is that the RAM usage in the three roms is almost the same, in MIUI I get 2+ GB of free RAM as in the custom roms.
So, because all of this my conclusion is that for now is better to stay in MIUI, it has OTA updates, is stable, bug free, and performs really great, even better in games in my experience.
Thanks.

thanks for sharing your experience!
right now, I haven't root my phone yet. based on your experience, I think I won't root my phone (at least until there's the most stable & efficient rom or until the warranty period expires).
you said that you use evira kernel. so, is it worth it to root my phone just for this kernel?
(sorry for my bad english)

Well, if you unlock your bootloader the warranty will be void, if you decide to do it I recommend you to root your phone with this guide from HERE, with root you can use Adaway for blocking all ads in your mobile, in any way Magisk is required to flash Evira Kernel, and it worth the proccess, the battery will last longer and the performance can be improved; is up to you.

Yup bro if you need your phone for gaming then it's always a basic rule “Custom ROMS are not made for gaming”
Which means you better stick with the stock rom for the full gaming experience
But doesn't it bother you that you don't see notifications in your status bar and lockscreen?
This is the only reason that made me switch to custom roms..

I am on MIUI 10.4 by xiaomi.eu 9.5.16 Beta and I see every notification on my lockscreen, when I allow them to be seen in App settings. On status bar see like 3-4 icons, but you can add priority to the notification icons, so it's not problem at all. Why is everybody saying that you can't see notifications?
When I was on MIUI Global 10.3 (before unlock timer expired) I could also see all of my notifications.

you can use this recovery..

But if you love your rn7's camera then don't use any of the custom or miui based custom roms... Camera performance is always better in the stock rom.
What I did was, after trying every other roms I've switched back to the stock china rom, flashed magisk and used titanium backup (paid v) app to debloat the rom of useless apps.
I've also tried the global rom but found the china roms camera performance to be superior.

Settings - Notification & status bar - App notifications - Your app - Notification categories - Your category - Importance - Set on HIGH from Default/Low/Minimal
This also (from my experience) sorts the icons on the status bar, so apps with higher "importance" are shown in the situation, in which you have too many notification icons.
My impressions
Hello everyone
I Just bought a Redimi Note 7 after a quite long time using Samsung S8.
There is a couple thing really bothering me like
The swipe up opening google search.
I can't sort the apps alphabetically (really sucks)
The camera seems to be a little too dark (like the default cfg needs a tweak)
Infinite screen seems to be in conflict with the swipe up google search thing.
I got a couple of photos to compare the stock camera from the S8 and the Redmi
But the forum anti span wont let me

Hi, it works pefect at 1.9 version, for better battery I use alucardsched for CPU governors and zen for I/O scheduler, you should disable fsync in miscellaneous, I did it and no problem at all, it improves a lot the performance for wiriting/reading process in ROM.

Can you show me some screenshots of notifications like Facebook or Whatsapp on your status bar?
Just a quick tip and a call for help lol
If you face issues using Android auto + Waze and Xiaomi devices .
Set the power saving settings to no restrictions o both Android auto and Waze.
Go to app management and select the app to do It.
The problem I'm having now is .
When I receive an audio on WhatsApp I click play it starts playing on the speaker but it do not transfer to the ear speaker when I bring it close to my face .
Anyone knows how to fix it ?

Thanks. I don't have it, I just got MIUI 10.3.3.0 EU. This importance thing must be a MIUI 10.4 feature.

N3O (or Nitrous Oxide i guess )
Who is it for:
devices with punchole or cutout displays
the black bar REALLY annoys you in landscape
clock behind camera annoys you just as much!
What it does:
Uses full screen in landscape mode
respects the cutout in portrait to ensure a normal status bar
Device Support
Preset for Oneplus 8/8T & 8 Pro
Preset for Pixel 5
Other devices via custom config (left/right cutouts, center cutouts experimental)
Custom mode for other left or right cutouts without presets (please share your values)
OS:
13 - Experimental builds (here)
12 - Experemental builds (here)
11 - AOSP based Roms
10 - Currently not supported (can install but bootloops reported)
Nonsense:
The only nonsesne here, is that devices that switch resolution need to have a specific cutout to match it. if you dynamically change resolution using tasker you need to switch overlays when you do so (seems to not affect powersave mode when at full resolution)
For up-to date information on features in the module and how to use it, check the documentation on git here
Where do i get it:

Yeah think this happens for all "notch killer" ones as well.
Tbh a non root app with just a customizable circle would work to anti Alias the cutout
I could not find any existing ones from a quick search but may create one in the future.

Oneplus did something funky with the system UI customisations.
I think immersive doesn't work for the same reason you can't truly change the status bar height.
I tested a module I built to disable as many systemUi overlays by oneplus and the statusbar started reacting correctly (not sure about immersive but it let me change the height properly)
Inadvertently it also caused brightness to stay on max and a bunch of other weird things but hey

Damn it... So you think that immersive mode and android 11 are an impossible thing?

Unlikely not impossible. Just better hope the code doesn't sit in java files because editing smali files are a real pain.
I'm probably gonna do another dump of all files from the latest update at some point and extract all apks etc and do a scan in the contents of all files.
I have a pretty fast 3000mbps ssd so any windows/Linux tools people know for taking advantage while searching let me know

You rock man! Really, the only thing which prevents me from updating my 8 pro to Android 11 is no possible immersive mode. On 10, i can auto hide the status bar and the punch hole gets ignored, too.

Do you think that we can have an immersive mode on android 11 like it's working on android 10? (Auto hiding status bar to prevent burn in)

You can get it. Just use this module plus use the "Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures (Q/R)" module that's available in the Magisk repo.

LOL. Nothing is impossible. I would have replied to this instead of what I did above if I saw it first.
EDIT: You'll need to use gestures instead of navbar buttons to use that module. Never thought to ask what you are using, but gestures is default on 11

Hey, I appreciate your help! So, as mentioned from you above, if I use both of those modules,nI can have a working immersive mode on 11? With the statusbar being disabled / autohidden? (Statusbar, not navbar). Best regards

It still doesn't rid of the status bar for me though. Navbar goes away like the fullscreen mode
Using a 1px-wide cutout to achieve full landscape in Android 11, neat. Thanks for the inspiration OP!

Thanks! Took many hours of tweaking and searching through decompiled apks lol. Let's hope they either fix this issue system wide in android 12 or this mod continues to work

Probably you need to be using gestures instead of navbar, but that's just a guess. The mod is made to get rid of the little white line/pill at the bottom of the screen which also creates a small thin black bar when gestures is used.

Ah yeah I use it like this with gesyures. But immersive mode historically came with settings.
No navbar.
No statusbar.
Fullscreen (no status and navbar)
I'm assuming that's what's being considered immersive mode that's broken.
Would it be possible to go full screen in portrait apps as well? Can't we push all status bar elements to the right? (punch hole on the top left)

With the custom setting you can push it as far right as you want.
Oneplus 8 series
However there's no ridding of the statusbar or even changing its size at the moment.
G-visual mod alters the status bar height and yes the content of the statusbar shrinks. But can't move the line below the camera that separates the statusbar from the action bar (this is not normal behaviour)
I've spent countless nights modding this to hell but the only way I got anything to work is remove all the system UI overlays using magisk - but then things like brightness control etc stop working
other devices
you could enable immersive (other mods should be compatible with this)
This mod however just inserts an object to the left which obstructs elements underneath to move, pushing all the content to the right would mean modifying a lot of XML files across different devices and compatibility would be hard (device specific)
What we perceive as the "status bar" is actually not just in one place in android, it consists of, status bar, keyboard status bar, heads up status bar and notification status bar.
My original pre release no nonsense mod was built like this, but I found it was version specific to even minor upgrades and was too volatile causing bootloops etc.
Not that it cannot be done.
sorry for the essay just sharing my findings

I appreciate the information you shared. I'm trying to find info on the status bar and possible mods to get rid of the black bar in some games.
I'm actually using an oneplus 8 pro. I tried g-visual mod but it didn't work properly. (There is also a possibility I did something completely wrong).
Adding status bar padding changed nothing. There were elements behind the punch hole.
What custom settings are you referring to?
