All of a sudden my GPS has stopped working. I've restarted the phone I've shut down the apps that use GPS. I've revoked permission to use GPS and given it back. No mapping app will work
What should I try next?

Factory reset or flashing factory images if bootloader is unlocked.

I've had this happen after flying back and fourth from different states. After each flight, I found that location would just not work in any app, and assumed I was still back at the previous airport. Upon Opening Google Maps, it informed me that I had to enable WiFi Scanning (Which I keep off because its super annoying while driving and kills battery). Once I did that, GPS worked properly again, and then I immediately disabled WiFi scanning again. Perhaps try toggling WiFi scanning (or re-enabling it if you have it disabled).

I have the same issue as well. Not sure why is it pointing to the previous location?
Any one else facing the same issue?

Started working for me also after turning wifi and bluetooth scanning back on. I also cleared cache on google maps and waze and rebooted. So something in there got it working again

GPS Issues

Hey everyone,
I've been using Dutty's ROM for about a week now and haven't had any problems with it, or my GPS with 3rd party apps until the last couple days. I can't seem to get the to start up or something. I've tried running the GPS Test from System Tools, tried updating with Quick GPS, and messing with the Kaiser Tweak settings and Advanced Configuration settings, and nothing seems to work. I can't seem to get my GPS to connect at all. I've also tried soft resets and that hasn't worked. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: When running the "GPS Test" Program, it basically gets stuck at "GPS Starting Up"
Ok I think I've found the solution. Apparently occasionally the signal will go out on the GPS hardware. In order to re-initiate the GPS hardware successfully, you have to do a soft reset OUTSIDE. For some reason when trying to reactivate it inside, it fails and wont get a connection (at least where I am, and I typically have 3G or HSDPA connection). When doing this outside, the connection will pick up and everything appears to be fixed! Moderators: This can be helpful info to everyone, but I guess it can be closed.
Edit: Oddly enough, when I went back inside where I couldn't get it to initialize before, it still stayed connected, so for some odd reason, it just wouldn't initiate inside.
Thanks for the tip. I've been having problems with my GPS as well. I'll try it tonight.

Navigation stuck on "Searching for GPS"

Whenever I use the navigation feature in Maps, it gets stuck on "Searching for GPS." I've left it like that overnight and nothing happened. The entire time, the GPS icon in the notification bar is blinking. I've downloaded the GPS Status app and it can't seem to be able to find my location either.
I've tried wiping everything, installing different roms, reinstalling the radio but nothing seems to be able to fix the problem. Navigation worked fine before. This problem just popped up out of nowhere. I've tried it when I'm outside, in different cities, but that hasn't helped. I unlocked my phone so I'm a bit concerned about having to send it into HTC.
Anyone else have the same problem or have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i'm having the same problem, N1 CM7.0.3 ROM
I've wiped the cache and data on the Maps APP, still having the same problem.
Any help
I sometimes get this issue
I fix it by turning off the GPS, waiting till the GPS icon disappears from the notification bar, then turn on the GPS again. and it gets a GPS lock right away.
one method which helps me to troubleshoot GPS in N1 is to install the free apps GPS status. under sub-menus tools, manage A-GPS state, there is the option to reset GPS data (essentially a reboot of GPS w/o powering off the phone). often when i completed that procedure, and downloaded new GPS assistance data (via wifi, should take no time), GPS lock-on could be achieved within a minute provided i'm outdoor or near window. if GPS lock-on can be achieved with GPS status, then, in theory, the same can be achieved in google map or in car mode. if google map still can lock on to the GPS signals, then i may get another google apps package and flash it into the phone again.
i do come across some custom roms in which GPS function has become crippled, but CM7.0.3 is NOT one of them.

[Q] wifi just quit working---2nd time it happened

So out of the blue the wifi stoped working. It just says connecting but will not connect and it does nnt scan to find access points. Wifi is turned on and airplne mode is off. I tried a reboot but did not help. I have not changed any settings but i do turn off wifi often to save battery. It is not a hardware issue as wifi works on stock nook os. It did this before and i just redid sd card and started over. Both time it stopped working in about a week. Any ideas on what is happening??
Maybe if i use the latest stable instead of a nightly?
I've only been able to cause this by having too many defined APs. Try deleting and recreating the most recently used one - if that doesn't help, nuke 'em all and start over. The latter, combined with a reboot, will definitely fix it, but it's a huge PITA.

This is has happened to me after inadvertently activating airplane mode. CM7 has a little bug on the NC (I think it is because there is no phone radio) and de-activating airplane mode doesn't correctly activate wifi. If you think that might be your problem, you can do a search for a method of correcting this using sqlite on adb. Or there is an app that is supposed to correctly set the airplane mode off state (thus allowing wifi to activate) - it is called Android Assistant. But it will be kind of difficult to get the app on your NC w/o wifi!
Thanks I had to delete access pointsand wifi started working but I had to enable it every time I got on my nook as it keeps disableing its self so I downloaded android assistant and sure enoughf it showed airplane mode on. So after disableing it there everything works great

[Q] [SOLVED] GPS suddenly stopped locking, ideas?

I have a rooted SGS, but with the official ROM 2.2 (unfortunately, until the EUR 2.3.3 official rolls out for my area. I always had extremely slow GPS locks, even worse compared to the Magic and ZTE Blade I had. I had never modified the NTP server, but anyway this affects fix time only if you are connected to the internet.
2 days my GPS went off. Specifically, launching an application such as igo does makes the satellite icon in the status bar flash, indicating that it tries acquire a GPS fix. And then the icon ... disappears! First time I see something like that. Closing and reopening a navigation application, the icon now does not appear at all, as if GPS is totally disabled. But the application does not complain about lack of GPS functionality!
The only way to make the GPS icon to appear is to reboot and restart a GPS-using application. Then the icon disappears again. This happens with Google Maps, iGo, Navigon.
Running GPS Status is a bit different. In this case, the GPS icon remains flashing as long as the application remains active. But no fix whatsoever is achieved... I have tried to Reset A-GPS data and download new data into it. Nothing.
Relating what can be changed on the mobile, I remembered that just upgraded the version of google maps sometime a few days ago and I enabled caching to be able to off-line browse maps. Thinking that this could somehow be the culprit, I disabled offline browsing and rebooted again. Problem persists. Even tried changing the SUPL server, as mentioned in http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...air-and-froyo/
Any ideas on what might be wrong here. The phone is in perfect condition, no crashes, NOTHING! It is within the guarantee period, but I'd hate returning it. Any info will be appreciated.
Phone firmware is given in my signature. This phone is, and has been, running official 2.2 out of the box. No custom firmwares on it ever.
It was that damned Google Maps update after all! I stumbled into this: http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=53e25a0d053f4eeb&hl=en
Uninstalled (the updates over the stock) Google Maps and presto: locked just fine!
Case solved

Google maps/GPS issue

Hey dudes, recently I've been having a problem with my note 5 where google maps/gps just doesn't work unless I reboot my phone. I'll put in the address and my location will be detected, but once I start driving the location doesn't move, it's as if the app is frozen, but it isn't. Rebooting and reopening the app makes it work which makes me think it must be software rather than hardware? I have factory reset the phone, but the problem persists. Any ideas for a solution?
GPS Toolbox app, use it, if it doesn't work try a different navigate app, like waze.

I'm having the same problem. GPS seems to know generally where I am, but not enough to guide me through the navigation. If I ask Maps to tell me where I am right now (stationary, at home), it locates me two blocks away. If I ask Maps to navigate me while I'm on the road, it finds me a route from where it thinks I am, but is unable to update my location once I start moving. My location seems to jump around a lot during navigation and it shows me driving in the middle of the block two blocks away.
I've been trying to find an answer to this online but can't find anything helpful - my location services are on, power saving mode is off, locating method is GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. I've tried turning location off and back on, I've tried restarting the phone. Nothing works. The problems started when I woke up (e.g. didn't change the settings and suddenly it went wrong) and the phone didn't drop or anything.
GPS toolbox did nothing for me. Waze is having the same problem. I even downloaded Mapquest, thinking that Waze was using Google tech and that was the issue, and Mapquest is having the same problem. This is so frustrating - any ideas?
I have the same issue with my Note 5. I have even had my handset replaced to fix this issue. But I'm stuck with the same problem. There is something seriously wrong with these devices and Samsung needs to own up to it. Considering how much these devices cost, you'd expect everything to work.
