Stuck in bootloop after trying to update from SD. Please Help - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Haven't received any updates since 1/2019 so I downloaded a file from a link on xda and tried to fix it myself. While trying to update from my SD, I received an error in recovery mode shortly after I started to flash the zip. Since I couldn't get the phone to boot up, I decided to factory reset and start all over but now I'm in bootloop. I'm an idiot. Thank you so much for any help! I tried to search for links here before posting but I'm on a really old phone now so am having a difficult go. I have a Verizon sm-960U. And I'm a newbie at this. I used to mess around with my nexus 6 a lil but that was years ago. Thanks again and I don't mind donating money to get the device back up and running.

After more research on yt, looks like I should install Odin and go from there. Will give that a try.

Phone is almost a brick, need ideas

I need some ideas on how to fix my phone. I used to flash new roms all the time but a few weeks ago I started having problems.
When trying to load a new rom my phone would get hung at the multi colored X. Then once I got a rom to stick I would get lots of force closes when I hit the settings button.
I'm tired of dealing with it but I'm not sure how to fix it. Here are two Logcats of the phone stuck at the mulit colored X.
I would appreciate the help at getting my phone back to normal.

im not a expert but try unlocking ur bootloader and uploading all the update files from 2.2 froyo or something that helped me unbrick my almost brick
I would try passimg before fastboot flashing anything. If you want to know how to passimg it's in the wiki under unroot restore.

I've spent hours trying everything I could to fix it. My phones been half busted for about 2 months.
I didn't think it would but it did. It brought my phone back to stock 2.1. I grabbed z4root to root it, then reflashed hboot, radio and went back to CM7 nightly. All is well with the world again.

LG messed up. Not booting. Only LG LOGO. P925

Hi everyone! I have a huge problem here, which I would really appreciate your help!
So I got a brand new LG Thrill 4G AT&T. I root it with one click. I Bought the code to unlock it and I was using it with T-mobile. So I had a couple of wonderful days until I start messing around with my rom. The first to say is that I install the rom manager and installed the Clockworkmod recovery to download new roms. I didn't get it at the moment, but when the app prompted me to choose the model of my phone I chose "LG 2X". My phone freeze so I restart it (worst decision ever!). So here i go, turn back on my phone, and I noticed after 5 minutes of booting, that I don't go beyond the LG Logo.
I've trying everything I found in these forums without any success. I started with a wipe factory reset, with gives an error of E:can't mount recovery log, so It doesn't work.
My recovery doesn't have the option to install from zip
I'm working on this process right now without any success yet

I read on one of the forums that I could use ITALY bin, which didn't work. I'm about to test "MEXICO" bin, and see how that goes.
I'm desperate and running out of faith... I Would really appreciate your help fellows!

[Q] Seems like I have the first bricked note 3

So I was messing with the system permissions in Es file exolorer, when I accidently set everyrhing to 666. As soon as I hit back I knew I was done for. I started getting foce closes on everything. I reset the phone hoping I could factory reset and be ok; but it keeps looping back to recovery when I turn it on. Im not home/in front a computer right now....but it seems my only hope is odin with the root files. I havent been able to find a stock rom for this phone. Att sucks for locking the bootloader. I will be donating to the bounty when I get in the house.
Anyone have any suggestions or know where a stock rom is oosted?

go to root de la vega site, and download the root. there is an odin image there to restore you to stock. you are ok.
thanks
Thanks a lot. Finally home will try right now
NO GO
Ok so the root de la vega seems to have been taken down since there is a new method. And I cant find the firmware for our phones,
What will happen if I try to load a tmobile firmware to the phone?
At this point I think I have a brick and might try it.

First? No.

It's all part of the fun! Glad to hear you're back up and running.

Well, I've done it too, but mine brick is probably worse. I updated with OTA update, then attempted to root so I tried flashing the Odin inside the Vega package, just to find out the OTA patched the "holes", now I'm stuck at the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
So I tried the One Click from the Vega package, but it doesn't do it, it fails with write protect error.
Kies don't have emergency recovery either, and won't even recognize the device.
I'm thinking I have to wait for the actual updated one click comes out to fix it.
Please be warned, DON'T try it

There are quite a few of us in that situation. There are a number of people working on it. Hopefully something will come up soon. I wish AT&T would actually release official firmware for our phone through Kies. Would make the recovery process so much faster than having to wait for people to rip MJ5 and re-package it.
i get a black screen....Help
i went ahead and rooted with kingo and deleted some stuff in the system/app folder and now after reboot i get com.google.process.gapps, dropbox, setup wizard and chaton [ unfortunately process has stop ] and it goes into a reboot loop, i can stop the reboot loop when i reroot with kingo but then all i get is a black screen with no apps, launcher, no access to any applications other than the systems settings. Pls help...
fuuhhhh!!!
Me too - figured I'd wait a week before rooting, didn't even bothering to check xda, my bible on such matters, and her I am thinking I know better.

[Q] HELP! Stuck in boot loop after accidentally installing OTA

I have a Moto X, and used one of the first root methods that came out with the phone (I don't remember what it's called, but it didn't require any fancy cmd window to type commands in or many different executables... I think I just loaded an apk onto the phone and ran it). Unfortunately, today, I accidentally installed an OTA. Now, my phone is stuck in a boot loop and re-boots every 30 seconds or so. How can I get out of this??
I've (sadly) done this once before and recovered from it by quickly hopping to some directory using Root Explorer and deleting the OTA update file. I've spent a couple hours trying to find this thread or information, but with no luck. It's very similar to this post: http://forums.androidcentral.com/thunderbolt-rooting-roms-hacks/174996-19-ota-push-bootloop-fix.html
I've also tried booting into recovery, but I've learned this morning that I don't have a recovery program on my phone. When I try to launch recovery, it just boots the phone and the bootloop starts all over again.
Thank you for help any of you can offer!!
Can you get into the stock recovery? You know the dead Andy on his back. If so go in to stock recovery and try a wipe. Then if it boots up look and see if your android version changed or not to see if the phone updated.
Solved!

I was able to solve it! Here is what I did:
Install the app, "Root Explorer", if you don't have it already. You may have to try many, many times to get this to install.
Go to the directory, "/cache". This folder is at the very top of the phone's file structure, along with "sdcard", "system", "firmware", and others.
In this "cache" folder is a zip file called, "Blur_Version.##.##.##.ghost_att.ATT.en.US.zip". There are also two other folders, "lost+found" and "recovery".
Delete or rename the file. At around the time the phone wants to reboot, it will be looking for this file and find that it no longer exists because you have deleted or renamed it, and it will give you an error message. Acknowledge the error message, and the phone should be back to normal.
The original information comes from XDA user "motomesh", and the thread I found this information is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...te-problem-t2467614/post46179190#post46179190
Phone: Moto X
Android: 4.2.2
Carrier: AT&T
System Version: 139.9.51
You should spend $25 for the Sunshine bootloader unlock since you're still on 4.2.2.
Also, good job searching. It's rare to see someone find an answer to their question which has been asked many many many many times.

Thanks! I'll check out Sunshine bootloader and see what that's about.
I appreciate your comment on finding my own solution. I do always try to put in the research before even thinking about posting my question. The XDA-Developers community has been a great wealth of information, and I'm quite thankful to everyone involved. It's just that on that particular day, I wasn't planning on tinkering with my phone, and I had such a schedule packed day with so many things to get done, so I was freaking out a little, because I needed a phone and had no backup. I had already spend an hour searching without luck, so I was hoping someone would take pity and not mind answering this popular question. I recognize my ask is a pretty big pet peeve; hopefully the community will forgive me on this one.

And he even posted what phone and version and everything.
root, roms, and themes.. oh my!
Thanks for the solution! but...
I did the same thing that you commented here. Thanks for the solution!
However, I've been wondering...
Now that you know where the .zip file with the OTA is located....
Can't you just flash it with TWRP from there?

You can try, but they always have failed for me. The only way to install an OTA.ZIP has been with STock recovery.
That being said, I haven't tried CWM or Philz recoveries.

Galaxy Tab 8.9 (GT-P7310) boots directly into TWRP

I've been working off and on trying to get my P7310 Wifi updated beyond the 4.4 version of Android it was stuck on for a while.
I have TWRP installed and was eventually able to get a version of 5.11 installed and working but then saw that there is a later rom availble with 7.1 (aosp-7.1-p5wifi-20171005) I decided to try that. The ROM would not install using Odin.
I remembered that the original instructions I was following said to format the cache and that I had eventually formatted the user data from TWRP to get 5.11 working, I did that.
Now, when I fire it up, it goes straight into TWRP, and TWRP shows no file system at all. I can access download when booting if I need to, but even without pressing any keys, all I get is TWRP.
Have I completely screwed the tab up, or is there still hope?
Any advice would be appreciated, even if it's worst-case. At least I'll know I can put it aside for good.

Ok, after nearly 2 months and around 175 views, and no replies, I'm going to have to guess that there's no hope for this device and I might as well toss it in the e-recycle bin.
I just wanted to thank everyone who took a look at this with the intent of helping, even if you had no suggestion.
Have a wonderful new year everyone.

Thanks for posting, I was also hoping to find a little new-life-hope about this tablet I think there could be a way, but it needs devoted advanced devs to make something out of it.
