Magisk cause pattern password not work? - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hi all, I got a really strange problem when I upgrade my miui eu rom in rec. When I flash the new rom and reboot, the pattern password can unlock, but after I reboot to rec and flash magisk. I cannot use the same pattern to unlock! I can use it to decrypt data in rec, I don't know how to solve the problem. This happened twice when I upgraded form eu 9.11.7 to 9.11.14 and form 9.11.14 to 9.11.21. I upgraded to 9.11.14 by first wiping data and clean flash. I don't wanna do this again. I remember I can use dirty flash in Android pie. Does anyone has got the same error? Or anyone know how to solve it?

TWRP 0mb internal problem fix without wipe?

hi, i accidentally updated to miui10 global beta 8.7.12 (i thought is was stable since it got to the miui mix download page)
i am using twrp 3.2.1 with a mouse for upgrade (since that version have touchscreen issue)
and i can not upgrade with 3.0.2 smarty which i usually use it shows eror 7
after i have sucessfully upgraded to miui 10 global beta 8,7,12
i flash the 3.0.2 smarty twrp and then i realized it had 0mb internal
i just wanted my mi mix to be rooted and do NOT want the factory wipe (since i read that fixing the 0mb problem is to factory wipe)
i am using this phone for work and do not want to lose any data on this phone.
can anybody please give me a suggestion?
i am flashing the 3.2.1 twrp via fastboot
in my case, the twrp did not even ask for password, it just wouldnt read the internal.
does rolling back to miui 9 9.5.60 via flashboot will do the trick? because i tried to roll back once via system update to 9.6.10
at the first it had notification that my data would be lost(so i cancel itu). but when i try again, it recognise the official 9.6.10 as custom room.
update : i have upgraded to miui10 8.7.19 and flash with raupe-blunden 15.1 TWRP
the after the fasboot reboots to twrp, it works fine and the internal is fixed.
so i install superSU, and it worrks
BUT after reboot to system, the root is gone and the recovery reverts to stock miui recovery
since i have able to enter internal storage (even if it is only the first time)should i revert to miui9 9.5.60 (the last stable rom for nougat)? some say taht the oreo miui can not be roll back, it will brick your device
please advise,
warm regards,
ziggy
Each time you Run MIUI it will encrypt the device again.
Try installing the no-verity-opt-encrypt and try......
If u switch to a different ROM it doesnt encrypt the phone so hence allowing you to use the TWRP again.
I recommend the RR rom / Pixel ROM

Infinite bootloop after update global stable

Hello guys, I really need your help!
I've just spent 5 hours trying to fix my Xiaomi Mi 8 bootloop.
Everything began this morning when I started a common update. After the reboot I got just an infinite bootloop on the white word "MI" that i get every time I turn the phone on.
I bought the phone from China with a Global rom already installed and the bootloader unlocked. I can access fastboot.
Here what I did today, until now:
-I decided to install a TWRP, only the 3.2.3.0 worked after many attemps with other versions.
-From twrp I flashed the last xiaomi eu stable. Result? Bootloop was still there.
-I flashed the last xiaomi eu weekly. Result? Bootloop there.
-I decided to go through Mi Flash.
-I installed the tool and downloaded the last Global Stable for fastboot installation.
-I flashed the global from Mi Flash. Result? Bootloop is here.
I don't really know what to do. Every time i did factory reset from twrp. I tried also to make the factory reset from fastboot command. I tried everything I could find online. No solution, same infinite bootloop.
Any suggestion? Thank you very much
Simone
Did your find a solution? I have the same problem.

Hi, after many attemps I installed the xiaomi.eu!
I could install china stable from mi flash, but I was not satisfied with a lot of Chinese apps. After that I installed again the twrp and I could put the ROM pixel experience. After pixel experience if I am not wrong I tried another twrp (I need to check) with which I could install the Xiaomi EU!!! Now I don't want to update anymore
If you need help I can check the version of the last twrp I have used! I guess it was an anti backroll protection because I could install the last china dev but nothing else, neither from that twrp.
If you need help ask,
Bye bye
is it because of encryption issue? from the first day i use mi8, i always on decrypt.
my step to flash any rom is:
1. flash rom
2. magisk
3. flash dm-verity
never had bootloop issue
flashing dm-verity should fix it.

Hi I have/had the same problem!
- The only rom I got working was the "xiaomi.eu_multi_MI8_V10.0.11.0.OEACNFH_v10-8.1." which I stil use.
- I also can get the the official "dipper_global_images_V10.0.2.0.OEAMIFH_20180912.0000.00_8.1_global" rom working but it stil keeps updating to the latest version after a while. If that happends I get the bootloop problem.
So I'm stuck at an android 8.1 .EU rom and I'm scared to update to the latest stable android 9.0 rom because of the bootloops and/or to brick it and to lose al my data again.
So my questions:
1 - do you use the latest stable ROM, (which one) at the moment?
2- how did you install it?
3 - which TWRP did you use to flash the .EU rom?
4 - I use an 8.1 .EU rom. Do you think I can update without losing al data again (my wife will kill me if I have to reinstall again)?
5- Any idea why we have this problem?
I really like to update to android 9.0
I just saw (!) that they released an official version of TWRP for the Mi 8 at https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimi8.html
Thanks in advance!
Hello, I have solved using a different TWRP with which I could install the xiaomi.eu weekly! I tried a lot of twrp until that one worked
Where can I find this twrp version? Anders on which exact version are you on?

Mi 8SE - No cellular data

Hi,
I was trying to install GSI on my Mi 8SE but had no luck with that, so I decided to go back to MIUI. I download MUI 10 V10.2.2.0 and flashed it viac TWRP 1227. The first problem is that the recovery was erased, but I don't need recovery right now (in case I need it, I can flash it via fastboot). But the main problem is that the cellular data are not working. I'm studying abroad so first I allowed international data roaming. With my current cellular provider I have always to create APN which I've done, but cellular data are not working so far. How can I fix it ? I tried everything including erasing data several times.... Can be a problem that I was trying to install GSI ? I tried few GSI and also flash this Vendor (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8-se/development/vendor-vendor-treble-roms-t3877202) but I think if I erased data there cannot be a problem. Can you guys please help me ?

You should download latest rom(mi flash version) from xiaomi's website. Then flash it with mi flash from your computer. Phone should be in fastboot mode and make sure pc recognizes the phone :good:
Will it lock my bootloader ? I have Mi8 SE from China and it came with unlocked bootloader. Do I have to flash Chinese ROM ?
EDIT:
I'm trying now to flash fastboot ROM viac Mi Flash Tool, but I'm getting error: "Flash crclist error". I have selected option clean all at the bottom
EDIT2:
If I flash ROM via TWRP running on Android 8.1, the cellular data works. But If I flash ROM running on Android 9 (no matter if it is stable or weekly build), the cellular data does not work.
EDIT3:
I flashed first weekly MIUI based on Android 9 and then updated to MIUI latest stable and cellular data are working now ! Pretty weird tho

You have to flash chinese rom right. It won't lock your bootloader. After flashing process, flash twrp and xiaomi.eu rom.
Edit: I am happy to see that you solved the problem.
I have a same problem like a video pls help me too

(flashing / booting) Problems with all roms

Hi,
since many days I have a new Mi8.
The device is a chineese model, and because it was delivered with unlocked bootloader and a shop ROM, i want to use the latest Xiaomi.eu stable rom.
After flashing the TWRP, i cleared all (System, Data, Cache, internal storage) and installes the latest xiaomi.eu ROM.
Unfortunately the ROM was notstartet. Later i readed, that the xiaomi.eu ROM needs the system partition, so i tried to install some different ROMs.
All tested roms failed to install (device missmatch), so i tried to use different recoveries and at least i updated the vendor Image to MI8Global_V10.3.5.0.PEAMIXM.
After this, some Roms are able to install, mut the ROMs wont boot.
After a clean install of the xiomi global fastboot image, the phone is running, but i still have problems to install custom ROMs or the stable Xiaomi.eu ROM.
The fastboot ROM installation with mi flash tools ends with an error (Not catch checkpoint (\fastboot -s .*lock) Flash is not done (I choosed the option clean all, not the lock function)
cDroid Rom is working, but with this ROM i cant use google pay.
cDroid with update to xiaomi.eu weekly is also working, but also without google pay.
Xiaomi.eu stable - bootloops
Do you have any ideas why i cant use all ROMs?
Should i choose a chineesevendor image or something else?
I also heared, that it could be, that the device bricks, when i try to re-lock the bootloader, is this an option?
Which ROM should work fith functional google pay ?
Thanks in advance
The problem seems to be solved,
i have to flash "Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt" after the flashing of every ROM, then I have no bootloops / boot Problems.
Now i only have the problem with google pay...
I couldn't also get Miui Eu bootable on my mi8 last time. I didn't realize what you had mentioned Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt. But I could manage to get MiRoom Miui workable and it seems ok for now.

DM verity zip removes the 'DM Verity' check that looks for modifications to the boot partitions (D-device M-mapper). You cannot boot with modifications (like root) without disabling the verity check. Also, if you are on a stock ROM, your custom recovery image file will be overwritten with stock upon reboot if you don't disable DM Verity. Hope this helps you understand more.
Found it on this topic.
I´m still looking for a ROM with google pay support, but iu think with unlocked bootloader and without root therre is no chance...

Mic not working during calls - Mi 9

Hey everyone - long time lurker/researcher, but generally good at searching for answers without bugging anyone. This one has me stumped.
I have a Mi 9 CN model (6/128) that has been unable to make phone calls with the main mic without having to toggle Speakerphone on/off
I've tried 3 different custom roms (Xiaomi.eu, Pixel Experience, Evolution), and the Global MIUI 11 rom, but nothing seems to help fix it.
I have the newest version of TWRP installed right now (3.3.1-46), I have tried with and without Magisk installed....right now I don't even have TWRP installed at all on the Global rom.
Same happens for my SO's Mi 9 too as well.
Is there something I'm missing? I've tried turning off WiFi Calling/OK Google detection/VoLTE, rebooted, cleared cache/ cleared data inbetween new ROM installs....
Hardware test shows Main and Top as PASS.
Any tips would be appreciated! I feel like I've tried everything possible.
Thanks in advance~

Your TWRP is right.
Try to flash syberia with recommended vendor exactly step by step and of course really clean install with formatted data yes.
If this isn't working I'll think you've got to flash via pc the stock and then again a custom ROM.

I'm actually going to follow the Evolution instructions (just missed the part about flashing EEA)
So i'm using MiFlash with the MIUI11 EEA boot rom file, then I'll do the normal TWRP -> format data -> install Evolution ROM and test.
Thanks!
So it seems like I'm completely out of luck at this point - I've tried basically everything I can think of, and I think something big must be wrong with the phone's file system.
I've followed Evolution's steps to a T (minus MiFlash having an error at the end of the EEA flashing, but the firmware seeming to load fine) and still run into the no Mic issue.
"Flash MIUI11 eea with miflash
Flash vbmeta.img with "fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img --disable-verity --disable-verification" (Download here)
Flash TWRP
Wipe (dont wipe system/vendor)
Format data
Reboot recovery
Flash rom
Reboot system"
Wipe (don't wipe system/vendor) I assume means just a normal factory reset wipe via TWRP, which I've tried.
I've tried both fw+vendor files (the newest for Android 10 and newest from Xiaomi.eu)
Any other last suggestions before I assumed the phone is broken?
Try to flash xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9_9.11.7_v11-10.zip
With miflash and after factory reset.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...iaomi.eu_multi_MI9_9.11.7_v11-10.zip/download
SO! Update here
I was able to use Evolution X's Android 9 instructions to get everything working fine....but everytime I try to duplicate that for MIUI 11 it does not work.
Reboot to recovery
- Flash the latest 9.8.1 vendor image or full stock ROM.
- Reboot to twrp and format data
- Wipe cache/dalvik
- Reboot back to recovery and flash
I tested using the newest Xiaomi.EU Vendor for Android 10 and the stock one with no luck....more thoughts?
Did you try turning off the VoLTE?
