the front camera is only 2 megapixels and in low light conditions the picture is grainy, thats normal, my htc one was exactly the same.

I've noticed that when you're viewing it to take it, it's really really grainy. But if you take the picture the actual photo looks much better. Seems like a software glitch. I've seen it happen in dark conditions on the main camera once.
Have you noticed that the photo itself turns out better than the view finder?

HTC One Camera: pixelated picture when zoomed in?

hi,
I am using ARHD 41.0. When I zoon in on anything, the pictures come out a little pixelated. Anyone knows any solution?
Thanks

The HTC One has only a 4 megapixel sensor. Because of the lack of optical zooming, when you "zoom in" you are not really zoom anything but only cropping the picture. With only 4 MP it is not to avoid that if you "zoom in" you will see some pixels.
Post a picture for a example, maybe there is another problem.

[Q] Wallpaper Adjustment

What is needed to modify existing images to be able to fit correctly as wallpaper? I have an hand full of images that I want to use as a wallpaper, but they are to "Zoomed in" to fit correctly. I am unable to zoom out to make it fit to screen better. I am only able to zoom in more.

It's because photos, whether in portrait or landscape, don't fill the 19:9 screen ratio without cropping. Easiest thing to do is take a screenshot of the photo in Google Photos while in portrait and use that. But then you have huge black bars on the top and bottom. It would look like the attached.

Would there is a way in PhotoShop, Paint, or any other photo editor to make an adjustment of these images?

Sure but that's a lot of time and effort. You can just take the same photo and zoom in a little for less black bars but again you'll be cropping the left and right sides. Vertical photos do have far less cropping but they do have it nonetheless.

Set the canvas to a ratio of 19:9 and then import the picture you want. Again, that's a lot of work compared to just taking a screenshot. I doubt you'll get much better results. Remember that pictures loaded here are very compressed.

bad bad bad selfie quality!!!

Got my p4xl 2 days ago, what is this garbage front camera?!
Faces loss details, whats happened to Google?!
Last p3xl was the best selfie camera!
Why f 2.0? Why 25 mm len?
Very disappointed, my op7 pro with gcam has better results, better battery life and half price.... Google this year you lost the game...

Cool story, bro!
Did you disable the skin smoothing that's on by default? Also the update is supposed to improve selfie camera.

Definitely something wrong, that info shows it's in the download folder and only 265kb. That's not straight from the camera. Like someone sent it as an MMS and it was downloaded.

I photo behind me not myself and this was the results just to show how is the quality!!!

I switched from oneplus that knowing Google is better, not this time...
Sorry but i needed to believe the reviews even the front facing camera didnt mention there...
The rear camera is the best out there for sure, but why Google went down in the specs of front camera?!
The battery also needed to improve better, we are in 2019 not 2016,Google needs to make 4000ma batteries and more, this is one of the most important things for users.
Everybody says front facing camera is not important as rear, but you can see people at the street, when traveling always makes selfie photos, so you need to improve it also or not make it less better than your previous phone
Got to say I'm pretty impressed by the sharpness regarding contours on my end. You're definitely using the cam the wrong way, or got a faulty sensor.

Now you have explain for the nonsharp photo??? Dont answer, because you dont have answers!!!
I just took three shots, one with smoothness off, one on, and one portrait. ALL of them look REALLY good. 'shrugs'
tigercranestyle said:
Yeah... no. The front-facing camera isn't 6 megapixels either. If anything other than some upset OnePlus user, it must be user error.
The ffc isn't 2.8 megapixels and it's not 6 megapixels. It's also not 3.14159265359 megapixels.

Im not rooted! Again, take a selfie photo look at the details of the photo, its i inside a circle and tell me please what is the size of photo you shooted 6M or 8M?
tigercranestyle said:
I said I was wrong about the megapixels, but you don't have a Pixel 4 xl.
You're not rooted? Yet you're using three button navigation and your home button is missing the circle around the home button that has been present since the first Pixel xl. Pic is attached showing your navbar and what it looks like with three button navigation enabled on the pixel 4 xl. You're likely using a phone with a skimmed down version on Android on another phone. You're navigation bar looks similiar to the one on the Essential phone without the circle around the nav bar. I've attached a pic of that as well.
Also your clock is supposed to be on the left side. Signal and battery are supposed to be on the right. Pic is attached of how it's supposed to look.
Was going to say that your Google Lens icon is missing, but it's not available in Israel.
Anyhow, chances are is that you're using some random Gcam mod that you've posted about in the past.

What are you saying?! In Hebrew the buttons and the clock are opposite to English, im using pixel 4 xl 2 days brand new, attached my system details!
Lack of sharpness is probably more like lack of focus. The front facing camera is fixed focus. It's no different than my Pixel 2 XL and both do fine for me. You gotta hold it a little steadier. Something that helps is using the 3 second timer so tapping the on screen shutter or the volume button don't produce extra movement.

Camera greyish pictures

Hi, I've just got my p4xl and when taking photos I keep getting this issue were some pictures looked washed out possibly even greyish. I'm taking these pictures in fluorescent lights (like most work places). Pictures below show the difference.
I'm guessing, with these to pics, it's because of the screen being on in the 2nd pic and it changed the white balance.

No but I took thousands of pictures like these on my Pixel 2 previously and the white balance never did this. Also I've lost the ability to add portrait blur in Google photos

Well I still think it's a white balancing issue. I had the Pixel 2 XL as well.
Adding portrait blur in Google Photos isn't the camera app. Are you trying to add it to people or things because it only works on people. If you don't get the little pop-up for "Blur-background", try going to edit the photo and if you go to the sliders, you might see the "blur" option.

It's definitely a white balance issue but how do I fix this? The same camera app on the P2 doesn't have this problem.
I know the blur has nothing to do with the camera app, just noticed I couldn't do on my new P4XL when I could on my P2. I know it was part of the feature drop just expected it to be on my new phone too

Try using the "auto" adjust in Google Photos. Helps a lot with white balance issues.
Portrait blur is in your new phone. Did you try what I suggested?

Yeah, no blur slider but the toast option doesn't show up to make the picture a portrait pic, which is strange as I have the latest version of Google photos.

And just for clarification, you're trying with people right? Again, the toast option doesn't necessarily always appear. I've had it not appear and I still get the slider.

Yes with people. No slider no toast. Hopefully it will reappear for me soon. Also hope I can find a solution for the bad white balance as I take lots of pictures for work.

It does I'm prove it but no where near how it should be. I do appreciate the advice.
Just as another perspective, your initial images certainly don't appear washed out or 'grey'. I think the issue you're picking up on, as EeZeEpEe suggested, is white balanced based. Perhaps you're not aware, one of the differences between the 2xl and 4xl, is that the machine-learning-based white balance algorithm is supposed to produce more natural-looking images under harsh lighting conditions, but as it turns out, some edge cases can end up looking worse instead.

Went for a run around sunset and took my post run selfie and the first picture the colour is unedited and the colours are off. The second one I had to edit to make the colours looked natural. I don't understand why it does this. Overall I'm happy with quality of the camera but it is a little annoying.

The unedited one is more like the tone etc that I got with my P2. Although I took a picture today and the colours are fine just wish it would be consistent
