Can I update my rom without wiping? - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

Hi all
I have the tencent edition with a ww rom and the Android version is from June.
The fingerprint sensor is CN.
I want to update to 1910.44 version.
Is there a way to do it without deleting my data? I know I could have done it if the fingerprint sensor was set to WW but that's not the case.
Thank you in advance.

Tencent Version Came With Global Rom?

Hey So I just Bought One From Ebay And it came with global rom ( thts what the seller told me) . can you guys confirm if i have a global rom or i have to install myself? Sorry for my English
.. anybody?
Hi, you have the global ROM but CN fingerprint. Your ROM update will not happens unless you also change the fingerprint to WW. There's guide in this forum on how you can change the fingerprint to WW to match the ROM
Any tencent version with ww ROM is not official by Asus and therefore Asus will void the warranty since the device has been opened and reflashed with non official ROM. Asus recommends you to return item to seller asap if you want a official device.

If the question does not apply here please move to the indicated site.
If is tencent version, you bought the chinese version with full convertion.
First, you can download the update using the asus website
asus. com/us/Phone/ROG-Phone-II/HelpDesk_Download/
Second - After download, just put the update on main internal storage. After that you can just reboot your phone, and after that the update will appears.
i see the pag and asus have two updates more after update .35 the Version WW-16.0631.1910.44 and Version WW-16.0631.1910.64 , i need update first .44 or i can update with .64 now? in some pages i see something about change the name of the zip i need do this? or i can update as you say

Can't update to android 10

I have the tencent version with 512gb and WW fingerprint but I downloaded the latest update from asus (UL-ASUS_I001_1-ASUS-17.0210.2001.60-1.1.97-user.zip) and renamed it to update.zip and put it on the root directory and rebooted and it asked me about the system update I say yes and I get an error, so I tried ADB sideload in recovery and i get this error terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' what(): std::bad_alloc
can anyone help me install this update?
Hi, first off there's 2 versions on ASUS website, CN & WW. Ensure you downloaded WW & try to flash it without changing the name , in root folder , restart device.
Same issue
I've the same problem. Tencent version with WW fingerprint and failed to install the update when moved to root folder. But I didn't try to sideload it though, not sure if we should?
My current build no: PKQ1.190414.001.WW_Phone-16.0631.1910.35-0

Okay well 1 more thing you can try.
Try to update to beta 7 first and then update directly to beta 10 which is infact the latest Android 10 build, this should work 100%
Saying that, I wouldn't recommend Android 10. It's terrible with battery life, lowers the output sound of the speakers, has issues with 3rd party launchers and makes the phone overheat

Well after hearing all these issues I'll stick with Android 9 for now, thanks anyway
The problem to why update fails is because your tencent version is using WW ROM that is not official one for the tencent version. Tencent version is Chinese version and should be using CN ROM. So update is failing because of device is not meant for WW ROM and secondly you got wrong fingerprint version probably WW when it must also be CN or that it's CN now aswell.
All tencent rog phone 2 with WW ROM is not official device and has been modified by seller, before it was repacked. Asus do not sell tencent version officially with WW ROM, only with CN ROM. So your device has mostlikely no warranty aswell since bootloader is mostlikely unlocked aswell which voids the warranty by seller for reflashing from CN ROM to WW ROM.

I don't know I guess it's just some made up thing they want you to buy. Which is probably not worth it at all.

However, latest A10 11 update is looking good. Though you still need to update to latest A9 before A10

You must likely need to change fingerprint to WW to match ww rom. You can check if its CN fingerprint using device info hw from playstore. Follow one of the guides here on xda to change
Hi everybody, yesterday finally I got my rog 2. I bought the same 12gb tencent with WW rom installed from seller. I updated it to Android 9 build .64, my question is, after i read this forum, so officially Android 10 is not out yet for the rog2? I read about all this builds, this means that they still are in a test stage right? If so I'll wait for a stable release before update...Thanks
Got 1910.64 with root installed.

You should return your device asap since your device is not official by Asus. Asus do not make tencent version with WW ROM!
Also Android 10 is out for Rog phone 2.

K20 pro downgrading or flashing globL roms

Hi,
I bought k20 pro few days ago (indian) and updated to miui 12 and i really don't like indian so i wanted to flash global or I'm planing to downgrade but i came tk know that indian version has anti roll back enabled so doing it will permanently break my sensors.
I'm requesting the experts to help me in this to not to break my sensors while flashing or downgrading and even if something goes wrong i can't goto service centre because of covid restrictions.
Thanks.

I am from Bangladesh, But My device is Global.
I flashed China Version, Global version, Upgrade version, Down grade version, Never faced any problem.
But don't know more about Indian version.
You can check the above links.
Just always, always, always remember, Never select "Clean All & Lock" with MI flash tool. This is the most important.

Question Swap to EEA from Global and OTA updates

Hi all, perhapshis question has been asked (so sorry if it's a double) but if I swap to EEA (note: official EU build from Xiaomi, not the EU build based on CN) from Global is it then possible to get official OTA updates or do I need to manually flash subsequent updates? Thanks.
up, I'm interested
Up. Me too
Every official ROM from xiaomi will get OTA updates
and you can also use system apps updater right?

Hi there, You have normal OTA update. I am on this ROM now (Chinese Version of Mi 11Pro).
Regards
Honestly I find this official EEA firmware the best one for my taste, super snappy and fast,

Updating system applications will work.
In xiaomieu this is disabled because some of the applications are from the Global version and some are original from the Chinese version only translated.
If you updated such a translated application, it would either be corrupted or be in Chinese.
