I rooted with magisk 20, solid explorer had a root popup and was granted but xposed never got the popup so was auto refused, is it normal for some apps to just not get root?
I updated to magisk canary and xposed then got the popup and root was granted BUT I'd rather not use a canary/beta build of anything so ideally would like to use magisk 20 stable.
Xposed modules are working APART from exi for swiftkey, has anyone got this working or does it just not work on miui 11?
Xposed mods that work on miui? I've used gravitybox since the day it was released but I have a feeling it breaks miui?
I'm quite happy to use miui 11 stable (android 9) so is there really a need to flash miui 11 beta (android 10)? What are the benefits, if any as like I say, I'd rather not use betas.
I only got to unlock yesterday so flashed a stable miui 11 build because it has options to turn individual sims off, this is basically my 'must have' feature in a rom. I know lineage has it but lineage is a bit plain and boring to be honest, is there a good custom rom (android 9 or 10, not bothered) that has the separate sim option?
I ran an ADB script I have to 'delete' a load of stock apps and rubbish I dont need or want, I know they arent really deleted but now I'm rooted I can completely delete them with SDmaid or similar, phone runs fine as it is with them deleted as it is, but would ACTUALLY removing them from the phone be any different? Could things suddenly go wrong because they arent there? Even though they are frozen now or whatever they are.
Boot animation? Is it just a delete and replace /system/media/bootanimation.zip?
Mii cloud and associated stuff? I dont use need or want any of it, all miui apps are gone except this which I only kept on until I unlocked the bootloader which I now have. Can I delete/remove it all? I dont want themes or cloud or security or any of their stuff on there at all but am fine keeping it on if the phone will go wrong without it.
Thanks for any/all/some help
EDIT> got exi working, needed edexposed sandhook and I was using the other one.
Magisk v20.1 not worked for me too, had to revert to v19.3. I have Mi 8, MIUI 11 Android 9, xiaomi.eu. With MIUI 10 Magisk v20.1 worked just fine. Some security changes... Notice that to lock the screen (user app) now we have permission, no root needed as before.

I tried miui 11 (android 10) and although I can't remember all the issues I had, there were on screen alerts for things that android 9 didn't have, so I went back to miui 11 (android 9).
I remember the lack of location options, just ON or OFF was annoying, the playstore took ages for an app to even start downloading, the video lockscreen was hit and miss even if it worked at all... And more little things that collectively annoyed me enough to drop back to 9.
I'm currently on lineage but even now I've a problem, I can't turn encryption off (I never turned it on) so everytime I boot to twrp it's asking me for a decryption password that I've never set up, so God knows what that is. I have to press cancel and then I can't use the storage, flash anything OR NAND back up
Never touched the encryption so can't help you, sorry.

Had this issue back when I had a Motorola X4 and Lineage OS 16. What you need to do is remove the password/pattern/pin from the OS (fingerprint, face unlock also ... what you have) than it will work.

BTW you can't Backup (to Google) unless the lock is removed again. You can re-add it once you are done.

I have received the update as well, although I just updated to the pie update from Oreo yesterday, I noticed that night mode isn't working (is it the same for you) - thinking of performing a factory reset
Also is your device rooted? Cus I can see the magisk icon on your status bar.
Thank you.

Hello
There isn't any global dark mode, I heard it is coming in Android 10. Google keeps adding dark mode to their apps though.
It is rooted through the "temp root solution". System and boot partition are still locked and Magisk is stuck on a old version. I just use it for titanium backup etc.

How did you get titanium backup running? it keeps saying it can't detect root.

It runs fine here however you can lose the entire root (super user) functionality unless you reboot sometimes. I think phone's hard core power manager kills Magisk sometimes. When it happens Magisk will say new version is available.
BTW I use this root method:

Some users report some stuff working but as there is no TWRP and Magisk manager shell, I am afraid to test things. Basically anything running early will fail, think like running a NT service vs running on user login. This thing runs very late for any advanced hack to work.

Help Apps being killed
Guys please I need help l my apps that I want to run are being killed, email WhatsApp Adguard etc
I was using Latest Xiaomi.eu BETA (MIUI 11, Android 10) and wanted to try Pixel Experience and Havoc OS, both on Android 10. I couldn't get the Pixel Experience ROM to install so i tried the Havoc OS. The problem was i couldn't get GApps to work properly and i couldn't set PIN/Password or Pattern (or Fingerprint because it requires PIN etc.) at all. I went back to my Xiaomi.eu backup, it was a full backup except Cache. Not i'm on Latest Beta and the PIN/Pattern etc. still doesn't work. I just can't set it at all, i go to the settings to do it, i put the PIN i want and it prompts me to use fingerprint that i cannot set either. The sensor itselft works (i think) because it wakes up my device, it just doesn't register a new fingerprint. Any ideas how to fix this? Everything else works fine just like before maybe except telephoto camera but it's less significant right now.

As long as you have no installed passwords, try dirty flashing the Rom, and then reinstall root and it may work.
Ok, I'll try.. thanks for the info
No rom dev.
Can't get magisk in.
Dk magisk anyways
Xposed is doa? Or past it's prime.
Ok, how to gain root? Flash kernel which won't flash? Ow.

Uh... you can try GSIs on this phone after unlocking bootloader. Most of the phone's functionality work with GSIs at the moment.

Recently Magisk has changed its way of distribution so there's only an apk now. But if you rename the Magisk apk into a zip, you can then flash it from TWRP (which you can access by flashing arter97's kernel).

Nowadays if you're to root the most ideal approach would be Magisk, which allows you to modify the system without directly touching the system partition, as well as hiding its presence from certain sensitive apps so Safety Net can still pass.

If you're saying it's past prime... in some aspects, yes, thanks to the fact that you can't have both Xposed and Safety Net passing at the same time.
Still, if you're interested, you may consider looking for EdXposed or LSposed. I haven't tested it myself as I don't really have a use case at the moment, but these might be useful.

You mostly need to just unlock bootloader following official instructions. After that you can proceed to flash kernels and GSIs through fastboot.
PS: I think this thread should best be posted in the Q&A forum...
EDIT: Just noticed your other post. If that was your real question... well, you were in the stock recovery and not the bootloader so fastboot commands obviously won't work there.
To enter bootloader, power it off, hold VOL- and POWER buttons until you see something like "Restart Bootloader", then you should be able to use fastboot.
Thank you, for all of your information!
It helped me by heaps!
The biggest problem I was having, was thinking the phone was in fastboot when it wasn't.
When I figured that out, the phone was quickly up n running on Phh-Treble with GApps Gsi.
Magisk Manager vs apk uses were confusing. It's Modules I can more easily blindly understand due to knowing XPosed.
Magisk went in smoothly & successfully via the change extension fastboot method which you explained.
But it appears the same as before inside the OS It's there but not really in type of thing.
Everything but the f2fs file and Magisk did complain.
I have no idea what kernel actually made it in now.
Safetynet! Hahaha! Is a new thing for me.
My phone is PlayStore bonafide uncertified also now.
PlayStore, I tried some other gapps nothing really changes, it just reupdates back to where it was, if it does, anyways(I think).
I tried registering device too. Failed that!
Being Uncertified = no netflix, no bank apps(deal breakers to me). GPhotos 1/2-ish working. Gvoice, Gmail working great! Razer Themes.apk + Pandora disappeared. I miss Razer Themes Lockscreens alot! Razer gives only a play link.
I installed older Netflix & Bank app. Both working.
Play ignores netflix but updated Bank. The same Bank app did stop working on a deemed outdated device in the past. It's not Chase but close.
I did try hiding things from the launcher via an other installed launcher.
An old Selinux(sp?) showed set to permissive. I changed to enforced, rebooted and it appeared to stick.
I installed Greenify(old) and stopped everything then did my monthly banking business, paid, xferred, etc. All transactions were confirmed. Boot still unlocked.
Soon afterwards, I installed Aptoide which informed me of root.
The Gsi's package Installer, won't install anything from within Es(I'm a diehard Es file manager user). The built-in file manager must be used to call the installer. The built-in file manager also crashes when searching.
A buggy installer I can deal with. Banking without it's app, I can not.
A halfbaked PlayStore is doable but not ideal.
The gsi itself on a RP2 is beautiful. The darks darker. The flashlight toggle works now! The fingerprint sensor never worked, still doesn't. 120fps, few games bake that capablity in. I haven't tested yet. No sound in Wyze app.
I recommend having your fav most used .apks dled before leaping onto it.
First boot was loud! Be prepared!
Then nothing.
2 days later, I noticed all alarms & notifications were set to silent sound.wav.
Idk, where to go from here. Stick to where it is now & wait for fixes. Go back. Or to go patch crazy if I can manage to get Magisk in.
I'm happy enough where it is now and it feels pretty secure. Will relocking the bootloader wipe it? The adult in me thinks.
But! I love tweaking...zzz
Relocking undoes it

I have one of the faulty charging ports so cannot do anything with USB. I do have my bootloader unlocked so is there any way to get the gsi's, twrp and root onto the phone via SD card? Any help is appreciated.
hello!
just joined this super cool community as I am experiencing some issue since I've update my Mi 11 Ultra to v.12.5.6. A few days after the new firmare, I've woken up to a notification from Google Pay that my phone was rooted. Indeed, my safetyNet check now fails. Let me tell you, my Magisk has been working flawlessly up till the update.
I have noticed 2 weird things:
- all other apps do work except GPay
- there something weird in the Magisk UI because there is little to none settings and all my modules seem to have disappeared and there isn't seem to be a way to get them back.
Posting some pictures.
Has anyone else had the same issue?
thanks folks
Seems to me that Magisk got uninstalled ("Installed: N/A").
I suggest to put the phone in fastboot mode and reflash the Magisk patched boot.img again.
I've had the same thing on my POCO F3, with latest MIUI 12.5.x.
Thank you! Yes that's very strange. I'll try that and will let you know. It would just be annoying if it's something that needs to be done at ever update
good evening. I have a problem and I want to know if it happens to someone too. I can't find any custom rom that has NFC support. All the ones I've tried don't even have an option to activate it. Does this have a solution? my device is redmi note 10 pro sweet. Thanks.
I've tried PixelOS and Xiaomi.eu and both have NFC options and can link with Google Pay (I've tried xiaomi.eu NFC pay and it worked, I didn't try PixelOS, but it has the options)
I remember someone asking this before a while back, and my response is frankly the same (and just as puzzled) - I don't think I've ever seen a sweet ROM that *didn't* have NFC support.
In M2101K6R Japanese versions, nfc does not work on aosp based roms. I am having the same problem
Hmm I am on cr droid and NFC seems to work. With apps like NFC Tools or MIFARE Classic Tool I can read NFC Tags.
Unfortunately Google Pay does not work for me. The pay terminal always say "try again". Dont know what the problem is there

install safetynet fix 2.1 with magisk, then try again.
install safetynet test via playstore and run it. this should be passed now.
If gpay isnt working, go to magisk/settings and activate zygisk. after this, add all google services (use search with "google" and "gms") to the denial-list, reboot phone and try again
if this doesnt the trick, change ROM ;-)
Lineage OS 19.1 is just great. GPay and MIUI Cam working like charme.

I think phone should be encrypted for working NFC (payments).

I checked with this SafetyNet Test app. All tests passed without magisk. Anyway I would expect a fault message in google pay if something safety related is not ok, same as in banking apps, which are working fine.
Was also thinking to change to lineage but right now I am not motivated to reinstall the phone completely because its my daily driver^^

Google Pay (well, Wallet now) can be incredibly finicky. Also sometimes it might seem like it has a security issue, but actually it's something else, like the card not being set up properly (but appearing like everything's fine).

Yes everything looks fine in the wallet itself. Only when it comes to payment, the terminal refuses it. I tried several cards. Also reinstallation of the app.
Is there a possibility to check or test it except on the payment terminal?
@wuslschweiz What kernel are you running? Some kernels can cause issues like this.
I just came off a clean install of the current crDroid with Flame GApps last week and Google Pay was working perfectly fine, I didn't have to do a thing except the usual Zygisk deny list setup.

@Case_
Standard crDroid kernel 4.14.290-sigmaKernel-v1.0
I havent rooted my phone so no Magisk or Zygisk.
But good to know that Google Pay is working on your phone so the problem is my phone.
Now when you mention kernel I remember I seem to have a firmware problem (notification volume level is related to sound volume)
Maybe also something NFC/GPay is related to this.
Is it better to flash MIUI 13.8 firmware with miui flash tool or twrp?
Flash it with twrp

GPay is a bit of hit and miss. Make sure it says 'Device is certified' in Playstore settings. It usually won't work without it. It's also very dependent on Kernel. There is also an option to reset NFC in settings, which helped me a few times.
Seems like I am just to dumb for Google Pay.
