i have a galaxy ace gt s5830. i Have a very bad internal memory problem. i have just 7 mb remaining. i have cleared the cache using root explorer, app2sd, moved all my apps except whatsapp to the sdc card using link 2 sd. but still no solution. i read in another thread that even if we move apps to the sd card dalvik cache will still be used and be full. I do not know how to create a partition. anyway now all i can think of is reinstalling gingerbread 2.3.6 ddkq8 on the ace. I have a stock rom but rooted. how do i reinstall 2.3.6 again and will this clear my internal memory till i can think of what to do next?
If you are rooted , I take it you have CWM installed you can use INT2EXT to move everything to your sd card . Someone may correct me if I'm wrong , look here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477996&highlight=format+sd+card
yaa you can reinstall stock gb 2.3.6 DDKQ8 and can use custom kernel like..PSN kernel as this kernel itself is a battery extender kernel and contain memory mod too...so the bigger problem of our ace of battery and memory can be solved by this kernel and the plush point is that we can stay as possible as we want to stock one but make sure you have second partition in your sd card...

Hi,
I am new to the forum. My micromax canvas Turbo A250 has 16 GB ROM. The problem is that it has only 1 GB for apps. I know this problem has been posted many times here, but I can't find a solution that is acceptable to me. All the solutions provided here increase system memory to 2 GB or 4 GB but I want no partitions at all in my internal sd card and want all of 16 GB available for apps installation, like in nexus 5. Thanks in advance

You can't have all 16GB available for apps since the SO use some off them. The max you can have is 6GB for apps with the help of this tuturial.

Hello,
The RAM shown in my Nexus6 is
Code:
Total: 2970MB
Available 1332MB (45%)
Java Heap: 256MB
The Total RAM 2970MB is shown in the apps CPU-Z and Droid Info. Why the value is lesser than 3GB (3072MB) ? There should be a technical reason for that. Please let me know. Thanks.
Yep, the difference is allocated to a bunch of other hardware blocks, like the MODEM.

okay, I also have learned from the internet that the difference is held by the GPU, which the OS is not aware of. So the Total: 2970MB shows the available memory and not the installed memory, Correct ?

Yes. Boot to bootloader and it will will tell you what brand and size ram and memory is installed in device.
Also the storage space shows 54.6GB instead of 64GB. Is it because of the reserved space allocated, when the filesystem is formatted to ext4 ?

That is minus the system and other partitions reserved for firmware and the OS.

But it takes almost 10GB of space, which is huge. I think it is good that I have brought a 64GB version.

This is why you always buy as much memory as can afford.

If the remaining space (64GB - 54.6GB) is used by the OS and firmware, then what does the Available Storage mean ?
The Available Storage shows 49.88GB (91%). I mean there is one more difference: 54.6GB - 49.88GB. Please clarify. Thanks.

os and firmware + extra for future updates takes up the first 10 giving you 54. Available is your userdata. Anything less that 54 is what you put on it.

okay, When I brought this phone the Available Storage was 51GB, without adding any data by me. So I think something else has taken space from the 54GB (54 - 51 = 3GB).
Then I added some music files and the Available Storage is 49.88GB now.

Not 10 GB, no. The difference is less.
In software, 64 GB is 64x1024 Bytes x 1024 KB x 1024 MB.
In hardware, 64 GB is 64x1000 x 1000 x 1000.
Because there is now a difference in what hardware manufacturers call a GB, they tried to rename the true software GB to be GiB instead (though generally I refuse to do this).
So to work out how many GB of software data you can get in a 64 GB hardware disk, use the maths below.
64 x 1000 x 1000 x 1000, / 1024 /1024 /1024 = 59.6 GB
So a 64 GB anything is only really 59 GB.
Then as mentioned, that is partitioned into /system, /cache, /data etc

Okay, So is 'Total Internal Storage: 54.64 GB' the size of the /system partition or /data partition ?
Thanks.

/data AKA userdata. This is where your apps go, where your settings are stored and where your sdcard is.

So that 3 GB (54.64GB - 51GB) is used by the apps, I guess. So that is the reason why it was showing 'Available Storage: 51GB' at the beginning.
Thanks.

When you get the phone new, when you boot it, some system settings will be stored in data. Also some things related to Android Run time.

54.6 - 49.9 = 4.7
4.7 / 54.6 = 0.0861
0.0861 = 8.61%
8.61% rounded to the nearest percent = 9%
100 - 9 = 91.
Does that clarify it for you?
How is possible that there is only available 103.33 GB out of 128 GB while other 128 phone have for example Galaxy note 9 111GB? If it says cause by A/B partitions, this seems like too much difference.

Also for 64gb version i can use 46.01gb. there is a little bit difference between actual size of storage for example my hard disk is 1tb(1024 gb) but i can use 930gb. thats how storage works. it is normal
edit: a/b partitions takes 2x system partitions than a only devices(every partition is twiced expect data) converted 64gb a2's storage is 50gb
I saw somewhere that you A/B takes up to 1 GB more. Well, it is around 6-8 gigs less than A device, this can be a huge downside for Android One devices without SD card. I guess my next phone wont be A One.?
@ond96, every partition has a version of Android on it self, so when update comes, it install it self on inactive partition, then when your phone ask for restart, it switches active partition to one that just got updated, and every time after new update rotate partitions.
So, if installed system occupies ~10GB x 2 .... there you go.
This is a big problem for 32GB versions of this phone, I have 64GB, and I don't mind.
