Installed Jelly Bean this afternoon and so far so good.
However, Light Flow keeps crashing, so I can't use it. I've followed all instructions, restarted, removed and reinstalled but still no luck.
Anyone else having the problem, or know of an alternative?
I only need it for Gmail and Handcent SMS.
It's not Jelly Bean - it looks like the latest update to Gmail caused it.

Ah ha, good point. I just assumed it was the update to JB, but you're right, Gmail updated pretty much straight away afterwards aswell.
In that case, hopefully the lightflow guys will be on it pretty quick...

I've just installed 3.5.2LITE and still having the same issue?
What version are you running and is it fixed for you?
I've just checked back on Play and fix in the next few hours, so I'll give it a look in the morning.
Thanks for the pointer though

You'll need 3.6.0 to show in the play store.
Manic evening for me with over 10000 emails in 5 hours!

One minor issue, I'm unable to change or the settings for 'Google Now'. If I click on it, it does nothing?

I'm still running the free version at the moment and getting no notification for Gmail?
I'm also still unable to change anything for 'Google Now'?
Can anyone else do anything with 'Google Now', or is it just me?
I've updated to JB but don't have a app called Google Now, am I better leaving the phone as is?

I don't appear to have an app as Google Now in my drawer, but it's showing in Light Flow?
You start google now by holding the home softkey on the display and move your finger up to the magnifier.
Tip: Don't even try it out, let it disabled. Your phone will have ~30% less runtime when it's activated.

Yeah, I stumbled across it that way aswell and it's disabled, as I've no intention of using it.
I just wish I could also uninstall 'SmartAction', but that's another story for another thread, as keen to get my LED notifications working first.
Thanks for the Google now I'm leaving it as well

You can't uninstall SmartAction but you can disable it go going into settings\apps\all apps, find SmartAction and click on the disable button at the top right.

If you're rooted maybe, but you can't if you're not. The only option is to uninstall updates.
New version of Lightflow (3.6.1) in the Play Store that is supposed to fix the problem with Gmail notifications.
Still doesn't show Gmail notifications via the LED on my phone though.
---------- Post added at 08:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 AM ----------
Quick update - I've been in touch with the developer and he suggested the following, which worked with the latest version (3.6.1) for me:
Go into lightflow->notifications gmail, select the gmail label you want (disable and enable it if already enabled) and see if that works.
Hello,
I ve found a way to disable system update service.
1. Download disable service from the play store.
2. Disable All thread under Device update
3. Disable SystemUpdateService under Google Play services

vandoor
it worked!
I just followed the steps and the update notification in my nexus 5 is gone!
thanks a lot!

Keep in mind that doing it that way only hides the notification.
It will still download, and it WILL wakelock to do so.

I am using this to disable the OTA notification for Lollipop. It eliminates the notification but the update is still available under About Phone/System Updates, and it requires touching "Download" to download. So, why do you think the OTA will still occur?

I'm saying that it will just hide all system notifications, NOT get rid of the OTA. You'll miss other system notifications if you do get any and the OTA will still be waiting.

If you check app info you will notice you are disabling notifications for Google play services app. This app has nothing in common with standard android system notifications so they will continue to work. Question is, what other notifications does play services app has that could be considered important to the user.
Hi all
I am owning the device almost a month, as i am x mate 7 user the only thing Iam missing is the battery life, the rest are ok.
Also i have some bugs i wanted to report may huawei listen!
BUGS :
1. Losing the contacts names in whatsapp some time.
2. Connectivity or paring with bluetooth devices such as head set,car audio and android watch sometime disconnected without notice!
3. Accessibility access services turned off for the application need that access such as Notify, sound profile and Pushbullet.
Please shear your experience also if you have above bugs to confirm or you have any solution.
Thanks

For me a workaround was to make sure the app I want notifications from is running, then press the recents button and find the app on the list, then swipe the app down, it will only move a little way then spring back and also obtains a small padlock icon.
You will probably also need to go to the settings menu and find either protected apps or app settings (depends if you are using the Lollipop version or the Marshmallow beta) and enable the setting for the app which makes it stay awake when the phone sleeps.
Thanks so so much. I try this out
You have tomark the app to run in background...
this is no bug it is an energy saving feature.
the device has a stock white list of apps allowed to run in background.
but normally you re asked if an app should be able to run in background or not.
any app that is not allowed to will be closed immediately in standby

Went to Galaxy app store and checked under "My Apps" I had updates for messages, Bixby Vision, Live Messages and about 8 or 10 other apps. They weren't there yesterday, so you all might want to check. I'm not sure what's different yet, but it was a hell of a lot of updates.

It was pain to reach all the way up on this everest tall phone to pull down the notifications, real pain with one handed use. Now the issue is solved.

Yep and it broke my subs black theme for messages. I had to uninstall reboot and reinstall. All good again. I get concerned when they update the UI because subs applied can crash the UI then we need a factory reset.
touchwiz also updated. the new drop down menu in home screen settings might be new for some people but I downloaded a previous apk version from sammoble.com that already had the notification pull down option. FYI sam mobile uploads most of the apks a lot quicker then Samsung lol.

Drop down menu?
Apps will automatically close within 10-20 seconds after I leave the app through the home gesture. It drives me crazy that literally no app will stay open in my recents. I tried locking the apps in the recents, it did not help. (What's the sense of locking apps there then?!)
Anyone has a solution/workaround?
Just select to not optimize that app in battery settings....
I'm on OOS 13 Open Beta 2 build and haven't encountered this issue at all. Apps stay in background for hours honestly.
Maybe check Battery Optimization for each of those apps and permit Background Activity?

Weird doesn't happen to me at all. I just checked, and I am even in battery saver mode. Programs stay in RAM as expected, and load immediately in the state/position they are in. Thats so weird because they won't stay open in the background for like most of us. 10 seconds after I minimize an app like Gmail, then reopen it, I will be greeted with the Spash Screen of Gmail which takes like 1-2 seconds.
Chrome is even more annoying, since the website I was on 10 seconds ago, will have to reload.
It's stupidly annoying and I tried everything to get it fixed. With this behavior of RAM, that Apps close withing literaly seconds, 2 GB RAM could have also made the deal
