Hi! I'm aware that the rog phone 2 has actually two vibration motors. Since I have it I couldn't really tell if there actually was one or two motors, as the vibration allways seems to come from the bottom, so I made a test with Asphalt 9 (the game they use to advertise the vibration system and came preinstalled) and actually felt the two vibration motors working separately.
I know by the "Jerry rig everything" video that the top motor is smaller than the bottom one, and during my test I muted the sound and noticed that the top motor makes a not so pleasant sound, I even could say it is painful to hear and noticeably loud, it is almost like an electric noise. My question is, can this be considered normal? Can anyone relate to this with their own device? Thanks!

So, i have been getting conflicting answers, SE support says it can sense how you hold it, and that is the part that rattles when you shake it and listen closly, others say it doesnt. So, who is right?
No gyro present.
nope, it doesn't. support was probably talking about the x2, which has a gyro.
Then what the hell is that rattling sound from the top of the phone? Its not much but you can hear it when u shake the phone, tried it on 3 different brand new X1's
accelerometers don't rattle.
my personal guess? mine is rattling on the end where the camera is located. right next to it is the vibra-unit - actually the only part inside the phone where something is physically moving.
on a sidenote:
that's the reason why it's a bad idea to use apps on the x1 which allow you to use the flash-led as a torch. the led get's pretty hot & there's more than one report where prolonged use broke the vibra-function.
[Q] Do you guys get a noise when the vibration motor "vibrates" when typing?
So when I'm typing at all. The vibration motor makes a like scratching noise and doesn't vibrate but when say I call it. It'll vibrate normally. Is this normal?

Some of the Nexus 5 devices have this too. Some consider it a defect, and some dont. If you dislike it, I would just exchange device for a new one.

I'm noticing this, too. I also saw a similar post on the nexus 6 subreddit.
Can more owners of the Nexus 6 chime in? Is this a defect or normal?
Mine does it as well - I think it's normal. Probably the camera lens.
Mine too
The vibrator in this phone is really loud. If it is a ticking sound I agree that it is probably the OIS parts in the camera making noise as they move around since the motors appears to be near the camera. IF you shake your phone you might be able to hear it as well and a lot of people think that's a defect when they've not use a device with OIS before.
Occasionally once I start typing a lot, yes. I just turned the vibration length down in the keyboard settings... helped somewhat.
Ah so this one also must have cheap vibrator like n5. I wished it had Samsung like one. Bad..
I had to exchange my first N6 for a new one due to the sensors failing. My original one did exactly this, it was driving me nuts. My new one does not though.
Mine is loud but it doesn't rattle anything
Mine is loud also. Noticeable while in a quiet room. Nothing seems broken but I hate it drives me nuts. Other then that phone is great
On the first generation nexus 5, I've observed this. The culprit was the loose physical buttons. Do check the same on the nex6 as well.
Changing the orientation of the phone usually helps.
Yeah I was just thinking today how ****ty mine sounds when I'm in a quiet environment. I turned off my feedback for the keyboard . Went back to my M8 and that vibration is solid when typing.
I've returned att n6 for vibrator rattle. I am not exchanging it becuz I don't want to play return game. I am really disapponted for this price they used cheap vibrator like N5. I am done.
Anybody doesn't hear rattle I quiet environment?
Mine is loud also.
Had the same problem on my first n6. The second one is MUCH better!
I'm not talking about loud vibrator. Something's rattling while vibrating in quiet environment. You hear it.
I notice this too when I use haptic feedback on my Nexus 6. I hear a click/rattle or something coming from the top speaker. It's kinda annoying in a quiet environment.
It only happens when it vibrates quickly (i.e. typing with haptic feedback on). I don't hear it when there's a longer vibration (i.e. incoming message/phone call). Either that, or the vibration is so powerful/loud it's overcoming the rattle.
I'm going to the AT&T store after work that has a Nexus 6 demo model. I'll compare it with that and report back with my findings.
Mine seems to have this issue too. I can hear some noises when I'm typing with haptic feedback on. Not a big issue to me too since I dislike typing with haptic feedback.
I have an XT1053 Dev Edition and it has a very noisy vibrate function. I've read that this is common on these phones, but I haven't found any solutions yet. I just had my phone apart when replacing the rear facing camera and the battery cover (success on the camera fix!), and I had a chance to check out the vibrator motor. The shaft of the motor has a lot of vertical play, enough that I could move it in and out with my screw driver, and it would make a click sound as it hit a stop on either end of the motion. There didn't seem to be any side-to-side play so I don't think the motor is going bad. I believe it's just this vertical play that causes all the noise. This is really annoying because my friends cheapo LG has a nice quiet, rubbery feeling vibrate, where my Moto X sounds like a kids noisemaker out of a 25 cent gumball machine.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I've tweaked the vibrate intensity for certain functions, which helps for tactile feedback. But it still sounds bad, and on silent I can't turn the vibrate intensity down or else I won't feel it. I'd go as far as replacing the vibrate motor if it would silence the rattle. Although I haven't seen anywhere at all to even think about purchasing a new vibrate motor. I though maybe a dab of silicone where the shaft enters the housing? Also, did these phones do this out of the box when brand new? I got mine second hand so I don't know how loud/quiet it's supposed to be.
I havt a moto xt1050, sure their not to off from the branch, like tours mine in used, but the vibrate is nice smooth an isn't loud, on the other hand it rumbles the entire phone. Replacing could fix it, but would probably require a heat gun an some skills . I personally would examine the motor at play(watch it work an locate problem. An is the weight head moving in an out of the motor(horizontally) or up an down(vertically)? The latter would be a cause of this issue. The horizontal play is perfectly normal for a electric motor, they require some play there other wise the motor would seize an stick eventually (a lot quicker then with the play)
I'm suspecting the mounts for the motor is loose
#1; Check an see if the motor has vertical play on the board.
Can it move up an down? Should be a solid feeling, no play in either direction.
#2; Check to make sure its not something obstructing the motors weight head, or anything to close, ex.. If the cover case is to close an it rubs, it will cause a loud tick/knocking noise while it vibrates.
If none of the above helps, give me a detailed description of the noise, an possibably some pics of the motor maybe....

Please my moto x is not turning on but it keeps vibrating
I got my S10 and noticed that it vibrates harder than usual when playing sounds in general. Came from S9+ when it's at full volume I can barely notice the vibration and only near the bottom speaker grill. With this new S10, almost 2/3 of the body is vibrating and some noise in the sound. I compared it with my friend's S10 and S10+ all playing the same song at same volume and settings, theirs definitely feel normal. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Samsung is telling me to return it but then I won't get all the pre-order promotions if I place new order to replace my current S10
Settings / Sounds and vibration / vibration intensity / select to desire vibration level.
Same vibration here...guess it's normal and felt the same on different demo models.
I just tested this and have a good amount of vibration on rear of phone on my S10 when playing videos in youtube at higher speaker levels. Hmmm may go back to store to test demo versions. My prior Galaxies never did this. Is it a deal breaker for me, probably not. Let me see how it feels once I throw on my spigen case tonight.
i have the same , my S10+ when at full volume i feel the sound vibrates through all the phone , but it did not bother me at all , it is just because the speakers are very good and very loud than anything else i tried or listened too , but i don't have distortion on the highest volume also , it is clear and sounds very good.
Hello! I noticed the bottom speaker sounds a bit louder than the top one, specially with higher frequencies. Is this specific to my unit or is this due do a difference between the speakers in this phone? Anyone can relate?

Be aware that stereo signals might affect your perception of them. Try turning on mono audio in accessibility settings.
As far as physical differences go, they are indeed different in size. You can see it here:

After 2 weeks of owning this phone, I just noticed it now. Bottom speaker does sound louder than a top speaker. So disappointed to find out that both speakers aren't equal I bought this phone mainly for front stereo speakers.
I think Top speaker is an earphone doubling as speaker. Bottom speaker is a dedicated speaker.
I noticed something strange. After turned off the phone for a few minutes and then turn it back on, now both speakers sound balanced just like when i just got the phone and had not noticed this issue until now. Please try turning off the phone, not restart.

Software problem
Not hardware
Speakers hardware are great
I hope Asus releases updates that allows user to adjust the balance of stereo. I think it's also the stereo frequencies in each content. some music, video, and games are noticeably louder on bottom speaker, and some are louder on top speaker.
I just turn on mono audio when the speakers are in use. The stereo separation doesn't work well enough for me, and it just sounds fuller.
I'm also aware that the phone has 2 vibration motors, but I noticed the vibration is much stronger at the bottom, anyone noticed this?

I can definitely relate to this. But overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality of the speakers.
Do y'all have your bottom speaker blown out or distorted?
guys Ive owned several stereo phones before and almost all of them sound differently, you just need to turn on Mono audio as other's have mentioned too.
this phone has great speakers, reminds me of my HTC 820 boomsound speaker which were pretty loud back in the day, but this is loud and clear!
Bottom Speaker sounds louder
@Mike845 Thanks for posting this issue as I am also facing the same issue. I am skeptical as this being a hardware issue because I saw jerryrigeverything's video on YouTube and top speaker is indeed smaller than the bottom one.
I want to know that are the top bottom speaker should be of same intensity or is there a problem with my unit. Also if buttom speakers are loud than top one and there is no issue then I am very angry with Asus as one of the reason for buying this phone was dual front firing stereo speakers.
For all the other folks, I request you to check your device for this issue(balance) using this link youtu.be/2ZrWHtvSog4 . Here you'll get perfect idea if speakers are balanced or not.
Please help me so that I know that if this is an issue.

Yes at high volume bottom speaker does sound distorted.
Tweak for balancing speaker audio
Okay, first of all switch off and reboot (not restart) your phone.
Then go to AudioWizard, switch to normal mode if not already then don't exceed the volume beyond 10 notch. Now check, speakers would be balanced and clear.
It becomes unbalanced only after 10 notches where only bottom speakers volume gets increased and not top. Also beyond 10 there could be distortion in bottom speaker.
Hope it helps.

It is on Asus Rog Phone 3 too, very disappointed. With black crush issue.

I don't know how YouTubers are saying that Rog has got the best display ever, paid reviews probably. These YouTubers are taking people for granted.
Asus's image processing is just ****, black crush, red tint and what not.
I don't know why I went with this when OnePlus 7 pro was equally priced. Regretting my decision.
