Automatic Call Screening + Smart Watch - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

So the new automatic screening option is awesome, except the note that "Automatic screening won't work if your phone is connected to headphones or speakers." Apparently my Galaxy Watch counts as this.
I never use my watch to make or answer phone calls, but I DO want the incoming call notifications/vibrating because sometimes my phone isn't handy and it let's me know so I can run and grab it if need be.
So a couple questions:
1. Anyone know if this behavior is the same for WearOS watches?
2. Anyone think of a way to address this? I tried disabling the phone toggle in the bluetooth connection, but that ended up preventing the notifications (though it did enable the screening).

Surprised more people haven't bumped into this issue.

I've been using my gen4 fossil and the automatic screen call works with it.

[Q] Drive not announcing incoming call but missed call

Hello,
wife's Moto X is connected to older VW bluetooth which only let's you dial through the phone or pick up incoming calls. That was the reason I got her the Moto x, so the drive assist would announce calls and she could place calls hands free. However, when a call comes in, it just rings, no announcement. When the call is not picked up, the phone then says "missed call from xxx". So drive is working somehow but not all the way. And when the "missed call from xxx" announcement is being spoken (and the screen goes black with the red microphone circle), the phone doesnt react to any voice input.
I upgrade and downgraded the assist app, didnt make any changes. I'm using the "having issues with bluetooth - other audio" option.
Any idea? Thanks a lot!
Have you been into the settings of assist and checked the boxes of the actions you want when you are driving? Also, is your GPS in high accuracy?

yes and yes. Drive assist shows up as symbol in the notification bar. And it runs because missed calls are being announced, just not incoming one's. Wife has replace the stock dialer, not sure if that makes a difference, because when I disabled it it was doing the same.
Try this: How to reset Motorola Assist
Thanks. I forgot to mention that I tried to clear cache etc. But reading through the comments from the link above, there are a lot of people having the same issue. I think I'll wait and see if the coming L update will fix things. Sounds like 4.4.4 update broke it for some. And I don't have much time fussing with the phone and car at the same time since it's not mine. But as of now, Assist seems useless and I could just use Google Now for the same functionality.

[Q] Outgoing call with car Bluetooth

Anybody know how to initiate outgoing phone calls on a N6 without having to swipe to unlock the phone first? I can make outgoing calls only after I swipe to unlock which really defeats the purpose if I have to fumble around with the phone before making a call.
The bluetooth connection is working fine, the phone has a pin lock but the car's bluetooth is setup as a trusted device and, when in the car, I can just swipe and it unlocks without asking for a pin.
I've searched around and found a lot of people asking the same question about Samsung devices doing this and apparently there's a Samsung call setting for outgoing call conditions. I haven't found any similar setting on a stock N6.
I'm running an unmodified N6 with 5.0.1.
Any help would be really appreciated

Thanks for the suggestion. Only way is voice control? That thing never really recognizes my commands right. The phone automagically transfers my contacts to the car so I was hoping to just be able to select the contact using steering wheel controls.
Thread Cleaned and be nice & play nice.....or else.
Working with sync!

The outgoing call? function works with my sync system but will not work with my old Sony system, for some reason it does not always hear the mic with screen off. I'm thinking it's an older version of bluetooth in the Sony. There are occasional bugs with Sync but they are random and cannot be reproduced.

Make Calls as Watch? No SIM?

So, how do I get the phone to make I call when I activate OK Google and say, Call "Jim" etc.
Presently, as I am not using the SIM and disabled the cellular network it will tell me I need to turn off airplane mode. I though I had it figured out when I set it to forward calls to my phone, however I think that is intended for when both have a SIM. It seems like a massive oversight if this is not possible, given the fact that the Style does not have the HR monitor and Fit. The two reasons, other than the spinning selector, I went with this model over the style.
I have cellular turned off, and if I say "ring Fred", it immediately calls Fred through my tethered smartphone.
If there are multiple phone numbers attached to a contact, it then does not dial straightaway, but asks which number to dial first.
Whether I use the phrase "ring" or "call" it does not matter, works with both phrases.
I know this is an old thread but did you figure out how to initiate a phone call on the tethered phone without the sound coming through the watch?...I want to say"ok Google call Bill" and have my phone call Bill and not hear it through my watch. If I disable call audio on my phone then the watch says check blutooth connection...this seems rediculous that Mt Sony SW3 can easily intiate my phone to call any contact through ok Google but my lg watch sport wants to blare my conversation from my wrist.
Is the LG call app installed from the PS

Having issues calls on watch via phone

Hi,
I am getting annoyed with my Watch now as it doesn't seem to behave consistently.
Making a call via my phone using the watch:
I used to be able to say 'call <persons name>' to the watch and it would initiate the call on the Phone. No I just get a 'calling xyz' display/timer, that then does nothing.
Many Thanks,
Paul
Bloody annoying.
Sometimes it will ask me for an option where to call from.. Phone or watch.
I usually keep cellular off.
Text via google assistant does not work unless it's via phone sim. Stupid implementation. Hope they fix this.

Repeated Calls do not interrupt Do not Disturb

Has anyone been able to get the priority interruptions feature to work on their P20? If I enable Do not Disturb and have someone call me repeatedly it doesn't make any noise or vibrate. I missed an important call because the repeated calls feature either doesn't work or I've configured it wrong.
Attached are screenshots of the settings. Priority Interruptions are enabled, and repeated calls are enabled too. The only way I've gotten it to work if is by explicitly whitelisting someone. I was able to configure and test that the feature works exactly how you'd expect on a Pixel 2 and an LG v20.
I have the same problem. Do you found a fix ? Its a good function if its a emergency without whilisting all contacts...
Jeez..So another huge bug without a fix in a recent firmware update? Or maybe they are waiting with a fix in Android P as it seems with all the bugs with this phone.
This feature is working only for unsaved contact in emui 8.0
While in emui 5.0 it was working perfectly like other OEMs for saved and unsaved contact also
According to shameless Huawei they will call it as implementation
So according to Huawei if your brother/family/friends number is saved and he met with accident and if he try to call when your in dnd mode,it won't ring and you to let them 2 die
Else don't save any numbers
This is such an huge bug
And they are not able to fix this issue
Never again buy Huawei phones
