In case of a soft brick. Use PCC/SEUS to get back to stock. That's the best and most trusted option as far as I know.
Or just back it up yourself. On the recovery press backup and it should do the job.

sorry for bad english , using Google Translator,

So I have GT-N7000, it's a 2.3.6 currently, and I want to update it to ICS, my baseband is (according to my About phone in Settings):
Model number: GT-N7000
Android-Version: 2.3.6
Baseband-version: N7000XXLB2
Kernel-version: [email protected]#2
Is there a way to update it to ICS (I'm not sure which one to downoad from sammobile) but not bricking or damaging it?
Thanks a lot you guys!
Flash any ics stock rom from samfirmware..
I'd you want ics for your country there's a option in samfirnware where you can enter the detaiks of your phone and samfirware will show your update
It has a brand, os, model and country selection, but I'm not sure which country this came from, so basically all I know is baseband number, so I was wondering is there any way to depict native origin of off that?
But, you say that any ICS firmware from sammobile firmware downloads section for GT-N7000 is good to install?
Thanks buddy !
Yes any icsvis fine..but be sure it's for gt n7000 and not the american note

Ics version
No need to downlad firmware manually, just connect ur device to kies,it will detect and download it automatically for u.at least it will tell u the version u will need to download

root first and backup efs before doing anything
then check csc and try to stick with it. If you dont care then you will need efs backup in case things like pcode and imei break. You need that see toolbox thread by dr ketan how to

Depends on if you want a tuned ROM and/or kernel, or if you want a full stock ROM.
For full stock, update through Kies.
For custom tuned ROM, check out the Dev section of XDA for the Note.

CsprDroid, pen down the IMEI of your device first. You can get your IMEI by dialling (typing) *#06# in the keypad.
After that, use your IMEI to avail your CSC by dialling *#272*IMEI#. The CSC will be a set of three alphabets in block letters.
Thus, you can you the CSC as the prime reference to avail the appropriate stock firmware for your country/region from SamFirmware.

I'm pretty sure if u update your baseband or reflashing it all of it device problems will go away. For example on was on the 12b baseband and updated to the 24a baseband from a zip and now everything works again. Would the same thing happen if I just reflash the 24a baseband again? I'm pretty sure it will. Btw this is the method I used:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711668
fix
What are you trying to fix?
Well nothing at the moment. But I used to be on 12b and then I updated to the 24a baseband with kitkat. It fixed my device rotation and knock on

No it was not. When I had the problem I tried installing different roms and it didn't fix it until I flashed the 24a baseband

The baseband is only for your radio so your phone can be in rotation u have to have kk baseband to run kk roms u will be out of rotaion if you have a kk based rom on a jb baseband such as 10b 11a 12b

All you did was flash a stock debloated rom from the thread you posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711668 if you were on a jb baseband and flashed a 24a kk rom and dont flash the radio[baseband]of course you will have issues
