Hi guys,
Need some help. I bought my Note 8 online(SM-N950FZKDXSG). Didn't realize it was coming from UAE.
In my Service provider SW vr. I see XSG/XSG/XSG but in Phone INFO i see Firm CSC is XEF, Active CSC is XSG and CSC country is UAE.
I'm with Koodo Mobile in Canada (KDO) and want OTA updates and WiFi calling, etc. How do I change to KDO?
It seems like all canada models are 950W and so is the firmware I need? SamFirm doesn't have the 950F and KDO together.
A little help please and thanks

I stand to be corrected but I believe the Canadian note 8 uses the Snapdragon processor, while UAE uses Exynos, so you can't flash the filmware you want unfortunately, it would probably just brick the phone.
So I can't change the CSC to recieve OTA updates from Koodo or its parent company Telus?
Another interesting thing is for a brief time I was using LTE but I lost that for some reason about a year ago.

Sorry you can not get any Canadian OTA from Canadian Carriers but you should get OTA from Samsung itself for XSG. If not you can always download N950F firmware for XSG with samfirm.exe and use odin to flash phone.
I have and used N950F CSC: XEU with Fido and Virgin and I have 4+/LTE just fine with the default CSC XEU. Also I get OTA updates. You might want to check/change your sim card or check APN settings if you lost LTE or might want to switch sim slots if your phone is a duel sim phone. Also might call Koodo to see if they didn't cut lte off on there end. I would change sim card for a newer one if your sim card is an old one.
If you have a friend on another network or same network maybe you can try their's sim on your phone.
Last resort is to BACKUP your phone and do a factory reset.
Good Luck!

I'm not at all sure about the CSC. I don't want to give you the wrong information. I thought the CSC changed by inserting a sim anyway...
As for losing LTE, maybe have a look at the APN settings and see if it is correct for your network.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will comment for you.

you could change to your country but you have to root your phone.

Hi Guys,
I purchased a Note 8 (950F) through Gumtree and although I knew it had the Telstra firmware,
I figured I'll just flash the regular Australian XSA unbranded firmware via Odin
and get rid of the Telstra branding as I have done in the past with other Samsungs.
Currently I use an Optus sim (which works) but have lost VoLTE and WiFi calling.
I have tried searching through these forums for a solution but can't get a clear answer.
When I flash the unbranded XSA firmware (BL, AP, CP and CSC, NOT Home_CSC)
I still get the Telstra branding and the software info remains on TEL/TEL/TEL.
Is this normal now? Are we forced to buy a phone from a network carrier if we want to use their services?
Or is there a way to make the switch but I am just overlooking something.
I don't want to root the phone or install anything custom as this will break some banking apps that I'm using.
Please help...
Currently I'm on XEF/XEF/VAU because just upgraded to Oreo, the original CSC is VAU/VAU/VAU
0. Backup your data
1. Download New Zealand or other country firmware.
2. Take both SIM and SD card out.
3. Flash the firmware of other country using CSC, not home_csc
4. Then check your CSC, should be changed.
I did't test the following steps, but I will try this weekend.
5. Flash back to Australia firmware.
6. Check the CSC number, should be changed to XSA
7. Insert SIM card.

Thanks for your input, I was considering this as I want Oreo as well but not game enough to try and mix other countries CSC's yet.
I read somewhere that Oreo will be widely available for most countries as of 1st of April, so I might wait till then and try again.
This does NOT necessarily mean Oz...
Remember, we are at the end of the list to get it as our stupid legal system upheld some patents on icons that Apple took out...
Also, if you're with any of the Telco's, add at least 6 months to that date...
Did you ever manage to get this sorted out? I'm in a similar boat to you, I have an Optus device but a Telstra Sim, when using the Telstra sim, I have no option for VoLTE, but when I use my Optus sim I do. Would like to get VoLTE and other features working on my Telstra sim.
I'm using an unlocked U1 on T-mobile US and just used the google dialer to switch CSC to XAR (Which I don't think you HAVE to do). Just use frija and download SM-F916W region XAC and use Odin patched. Up and running with no issues.
**updated i actually used model SM-F916W region XAC in Frija.

did you have to wipe your phone? Same on T-Mobile and getting antsy waiting
Is there any drawbacks whatsoever for changing your CSC?
Or let me rephrase, do you still have 5G, Wifi Calling, samsung pay, etc.?

Which CSC did you use when searching in Frija? XAR returns no results for the SM-F916W.
XAC?
After looking on Frija I'm seeing XAR is for SM-F916U1 and it's US based Android 10. Not sure how you got Android 11. If you meant XAC there's no option to change the CSC to that.

My apologies i was running on very little sleep. I did indeed use XAC in Frija. So I suppose you could try leaving it on TMB and flashing since i flashed the XAC version for SM-F916W over XAR on my U1. I do have a bunch of extra dev options though that i'm not sure would be exactly the same. I will confirm later but so far, I haven't found a dialer code on XAR that works to change CSC on version CTLL with XAC. But your sim will automatically flip your network CSC to TMB regardless. I'll update my previous posts thanks for the catch.

Like i mentioned in my post above, so far, I haven't found a dialer code that opens up the CSC menu on the new version. I'm going to try again shortly but your sim will automatically set your network to TMB. I can say that VOLTE and WFC works much more efficiently for me on the new version. You just have to wait for setup to complete and the WFC option will appear as usual.
ODIN allowed you to flash SM-F916W firmware on a SM-F916U1 model? Typically cross flashing between models fails when using ODIN and even if it let you, you'd probably be soft-bricked.
This does work. I have tried it. My fold 2 was bought from Samsung unlocked. It now shows the device as SM-F916W. I am with AT&T and 5g doesn't show up but everything else seems to run just fine.
I was also able to go back to u1 firmware with CSC XAA .

Yeah the patched ODIN 3.1.4 did work in this case. I did some checking of the partitioning among various regions/versions and the canadian version didn't really require any changes so i thought i'd take a chance. I do have 5G so that tells me you need to apply sales/network CSC of something that isn't carrier locked prior to updating and everything should work ok. That's speculation and my personal experience.

I'd be hesitant to do anything with a non-unlocked variant.

This isn't surprising at all. Since the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, the U models and the W models have all been cross compatible with firmware. They are actually the same exact device, and the W only indicates it's running Canadian firmware. Just like the U1 indicates it's non-carrier branded and U indicates it's a carrier model. No issues cross flashing at all.

916B and 916U are not the same devices. There are hardware differences, so you can't crossflash firmware.

Flashing firmware doesn't do anything to affect the locked or unlocked status. Many, many people here have flashed U1 firmware on locked U devices over the last few years.

I honestly have no idea. I'd check some of the other Samsung forums, like the Note 20 or Note 10 forums.you may find an answer there as they are more popular devices.
I actually went and flashed my u1 to this version .. everything else works as it should but so far my only drawback is that my samsung sofi account has been deleted after it updated to samsung pay Canada...
Edit: although it samsung pay Canada all I had to the was verify my samsung password and accept samsung pass terms and I was good to go everything is there and works as it should.
Hi guys,
I know this was asked, but my case in kinda different.
I have UK version of the phone, BTU and CSC seems to be correct, as others that complained about updates not being pushed had CSC EUX.
Though phone is from UK, it was purchased in Malta as local network operator, not locked or branded to their network, as there is no FW for Malta, they simply get UK unlocked phones.
Any idea how to get updates?
Shall I flash latest FW with odin? Thanks...

Yes you need to flash it with Odin because EUX is a dead circuit.
Thanks. Will do it definitely.
But strange enough is that it's showing BTU not EUX, at least on screenshot.
How stupid is this thing that they kill your phone for updates... :/

Hi Folks,
I have bought a G973U samsung S10 but it is not receiving any updates and I am obliged to flash it with ODIN, I heard that I can technically flash G973U1 XAA firmware on it and it will update via OTA, is this true please ? I have the SPR firmware on it. Thanks for your help.
Depends on the carrier. ATT (I assume you're in the USA?), for example, won't do OTA updates unless the IMEI also matches (and maybe some other switches at ATT that we can't change).
XAA should update on some carriers, at least. My XAA updates on TotalWireless (VZ MVNO)... I've actually blocked them because I want to stay on A11 for now.
I believe you can upgrade via ODIN yourself without using an OTA - just be sure to use the HOME_CSC file because the non-home CSC will wipe your data. Any reason you're not doing that? This way, you can control your own updates and timing.
Hello Sofiene.Saidi, look at the official US firmware here for your model, the best thing for you is to take a model for your European region.

Thanks for your anwser Schwinn, actually it is fine with ODIN but each time I need to flask aprroximately 6Gb of firmware, it is somehow risky isn't it ? Can I flash USC firmware and get OTA updates please ?
If you're in France, I don't think you'll ever get OTA updates.
No, flashing the ROM a few times over the phone's life isn't going to affect the device that much. If you did it every day, then sure... but a few flashes over the life of the phone won't make much difference. I recommend you just do the updates yourself with these files and don't worry about the OTAs, because you are unlikely to get them.

Is there any problem if I flash USC region firmware on SPR firmware for my G973U S10 baby please ?
Thanks for your help !
What is "USC" region? I believe there is a USC = USCellular in the USA, but I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about?
I think you're not in the USA, so maybe you're talking about a non-US firmware? If so, you need to be careful, because you can't flash an Exynos ROM onto a Snapdragon phone.
What is the reason for doing the conversion? What are you looking to accomplish?

Hi Schwinn, I am outside USA but my phone came with SPR firmware without bloatware and it is working fine, USC is US Cellular yes, and my handset is a snapdragon, do you know if it is risky ? I wanted just an unbranded firmware. Thanks for your help
If you already have no problems, I'd say leave it alone? Maybe it's just me, but I don't know why people have such an obsession with removing "bloatware". I don't see any additional usage from it, and you can simply disable those apps anyway, so who cares?
My only concern with putting on a different ROM is that the CSC doesn't always change properly - I had a phone that refused to move off ATT even though I'm on TFN.
Doing this won't break the phone, but you will need to wipe so backups are needed, etc.
What is your CSC anyway? The last one won't change ever anyway, so if you're on XAA/XAA/SPR that's the "cleanest" you will get.
Yes it is this one XAA/XAA/SPR, and okay for your advice, I wanted just to get the last security update (June for USC versus May for SPR)
Thanks again for your information I will keep SPR firmware as everything works great !
Ok, if you're already XAA/XAA/SPR then you are NOT on SPR firmware. You're on XAA. SPR is just what the phone was "born" with (was originally an SPR = Sprint IMEI). The last CSC cannot be changed (and doesn't need to be). XAA is the best you'll be able to get outside of the USA.
