Bad scrolling performance on 9.1.0.370 - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I am experiencing serious problem with scrolling performance on instagram whatsapp and stock contacts app is it only me experiencing this? Before also with some updates it was happening but later they were fixing but it is so awkward after all this updates i am still not happy about performance
Erofs game turbo etc i think they were a big marketing hoax

Game turbo does work on some games that are optimized for it (like Minecraft and fortnite for example). I mainly saw that the heat is decreased, not very significantly.
If you have scrolling lag, stop using battery saving option. It is useless as it kills features for just +10 minutes of battery life (from my own experience)

What resolution are you using? Make sure smart is turned off and it's on FHD not HD, this bugs out recording videos too. I'm on 370 and WhatsApp is fine, although I using WhatsApp plus

Video recording issues

Hi guys! At the moment i'm using PrimeHD as my ROM and it's awesome. However, i noticed that when i try to record videos using my phone's camera, i experienced lags for some reason and that was in the middle of the recording process. As a result, i was able to record but some parts are lagging where the video goes choppy a little bit but the audio was doing fine. Any thoughts on what tweaks or fixes should i use in order to avoid these types of issues from happening again in the near future? Thanks to those who would be willing to help.

Try using a third party application and see if the problem persists.
i'm also running PrimeHD, and i belive that your problem is because maybe you are running too much background applications, and therefore you have small amount of free RAM availible.
Try to record some video right after you reboot your phone (or after you've shuted down some unnecessary processes). I've took some videos at highest quality availible (2-5 min on stock camera in PrimeHD), and i have expirienced no such thing as lags.
thanks. i'll try that. i think i need to trim down the system apps that i don't really use if that might help. what system apps do you think can i uninstall for now in order to save more RAM than the usual? just to be sure that i'd be able to record videos with ease.
Supercharger help you i have 60-80 mb allways free

Laggy Camera

Currently running the Revolt Rom which have the gallery3d camera preinstalled. The problem is that it lags insanely much, very difficult to take good pictures when it lags.
I have also tried the ASOP camera which lagged a bit less, but the quality becomes worse.
What should I do?

The only camera that works without lag for me is the one in my sig.

Awesome! It is way better!
Wondering about the kernel you are using, is it good for battery life? I'm on stock right now.
Hm well the camera app is great but...I can't acces my gallery from within the app and if I switch to the front facing camera it lags and the video camera doesn't work either.

Well, I have none of those problems, so cannot really comment. I video Skype regularly with no issues whatsoever. My setup is as my sig says. The kernel is excellent, and allows voltage and clock control. You need to add it after applying any ROM since the ROM will usually bring its own kernel.
I use Juice Defender Ultimate, and Trickster to underclock and undervolt (max 1300MHz and 1050mA). A basic rule for battery life aside from this is to never leave your screen at over 40% brightness as it is the ultimate battery drain.

Made a backup and installed the kernel. Used Rom Toolbox to set the maxium mhz to 1300 and i set it to be at 1050 there. Gonna se what will happen.

I like the camera apps~~thanks.:good::good:
However, I would like to launch the "QuickPic" rather than the per-installed gallery after pressing the preview icon.
How can I set this action??

Camera mode lag, normal?

Hello,
When I use creative effect mode with my Z3C I see a lot of lags on the screen when I move the phone (like... you know... when you make a video...). I thought it was normal and just on the screen but with normal final result. But when I record a video with creative effect, I see lags on the screen BUT also in the final video when I watch it.
Am I alone?
Thanks!
EDIT: NO I don't have Stamina mode
I've never tried video recording with creative effects, but it doesn't surprise me. Most of the creative effects seem to stress the processor and some have even experienced the camera app shutting down to prevent over-heating.
Too bad, I can't make "real" video with effect, always lags in some parts.
try clearing out all apps and running programs before recording one of the videos. have all processing power available.
OK thank you

I should not have to do that on a 2014-15 flagship. Just to be able to use all the features.... I'd accept it for 4yo phone if you want to use the latest softwares, but a new one? Completely unacceptable.
actually..you SHOULD have to do that. A cpu intensive task needs all power available.
also the videos with these effects on dont get the best frame rates to begin with. theyre for entertainment purposes, not to film a super bowl commercial
Camera become laggy when free ram get under 300mb, I fix it with rooting then use greenify to manage ram.. Smooth camera and fluid multitasking

Instagram Stories videos low framerate?

Is anyone facing problems with Stories videos? Whenever I try to upload a video, from my gallery, the video lags SO MUCH...
And if I try to record a video directly in Instagram app, the video lags EVEN MORE.
The experience with this social network, in a whole, is a little bit crappy, with the Mi A2...
It's so sad, because I really love this phone, specially the camera.
Well, is anyone facing the same problem? Is there any fix?
Thanks in advance! <3
Same problem, only with GBintsa stories work fine
Same problem, but only video story.
I also have this issue and always had it with every Android smartphone I ever owned. I investigated a bit on the internet and read somewhere that Instagram handles the Android camera API in a ****ty way. I'm no expert but seemingly the difference is that iPhone always uses the same API or just some different version because there are not many models on Android however there are probably more than 1000 different camera APIs because there is a much bigger variety of models. In short: Instagram on Android is not very well optimized.
I had the same issue with my MI A2 i fixed it buy installing a previous version of the instagram app I had the go like 10 vesrion before to get it right though and i lost the gif feature in messages but let's hope the update wont have the same problem.
Instagram beta works fine for me
Edit: NO IT'S NOT!!
Also recording from stock camera app in 1080p 60fps and then posting as story is fine
I also had this kind of issue, which is also present in older device like Redmi Note 4 in MIUI. I don't know what make its bugged tho

You have to think that you don't have an iphone, and you don't record smooth video on instagram app. Record on camera app and share it on your story.
Also photos you sent on instagram are in very tiny resolution (dm)

Yes I know...
I think this is a decoder related thing.. because screenshots look bad, but photos taken from camera looks good. Any video other than 1080p 60 fps from stock camera looks stuttering; but it also has very bad sound quality... That's really fuktup xiaomi..
sound program

The problem with the sound program will solve Cinema FV-5.
Go to the sound settings and put a tick on the Disable Audio Automatic gain Control (AGC). The sound starts being processed by the application's algorithms.

Instagram stories are smooth on my mi a2 running android P with the latest instagram update. Last time i was on android 8.1, the latest version of instagram has the choppy stories problem. Try updating to android P.
It's been months and still my stories are 15 fps.... what a joke...
This crap needs to get fixed. No matter which account I the video is choppy/laggy. If i shoot video inside the app the review looks good. once it uploads it's laggy. If I save the video to my phone... it's choppy. If i have a video already on my phone and I upload it to stories to the normal feed... it's choppy AF.
I'm on 8.1 oreo with RAW enabled. This suuuucks
Can someone confirm that the videos are better or smoother in Android P?

YESS this also happened to me, im using redmi note 5 rn and the current rom is in miui 10 global stable
The solution is to install the older version of instagram. I'm from Brazil and I found this solution, if you want to solve it and see everything fast again use this version here: 51.0.0.20.85
Search google to download ...
Do not upgrade to the newer version, if it does not come back all over again.
Guys! I found the solution!! Try to use the
H.265/HEVC codec.

How can i do this?

Question Choppy Instagram Videos and stutters during Multi tasking?

Does anyone else have this issue where Instagram reels are choppy? Like for me, some reels are choppy and some are not.
Is this because Instagram is not optimised or a33's software is not optimised?
I have this issue in my A53 (Exynos). I think it's the app not fully optimized for this chip yet.
