NFC transport card issue with Mi9 T Pro - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hi,
I got my Mi9tPro yesterday, it's currently running Miui11 Global 11.0.3.0 (android 10).
In my country we use NFC transportation cards and you can use an app to check the funds you have on the card and to charge more funds onto the card (similar to the British oyster card)
The problem is my phone can't read the card, I even installed NFC tools and it still doesn't show (no reaction at all).
My old mi5 has no problems reading this card, NFC tools shows the card type as ISO 14443-4 and the Technologies available as IsoDep and NfcB.
Other phones in my house have no problem reading the card (Samsung S10e, Iphone 8, LG g6).
The NFC in my phone DOES work, I have a simple nfc tag in my room and it shows up as type ISO 14443-3A.
Is it possible that the NFC chip in the Mi9Tpro doesn't support a major NFC tag type?
maybe it's a software issue? a missing driver or something? Is there a way to fix this issue?
Thanks!

Which country u in?
My phone can read transport card balances via nfc, specifically SUICA transport card for Japan.
Both miui rom and custom aosp rom read well.

Im in Israel.
Apparently the cards here are made by a few different companies, mine is made by a company called "ASK". I found a post that claims that only cards made by "Gemalto" can be read by the Mi9Tpro.
So it seems the solution is to change my transport card to a one made by the company "Gemalto".
Is it possible that our phone doesn't support all NFC standards?

Are you sure nfc is active on your phone. The global Rom does not support nfc
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk

Yes I'm sure. Actually it's the EEA version of the global rom (made for Europe)- QFKEUXM version

It's only the Indian ROM that has no NFC support.

Nope, I'm on miui global and no nfc in sight sadly.

Then you have an Indian phone and/or an Indian ROM.
If it's not Chinese MIUI, then Xiaomi call all other versions Global MIUI. There are 4 global versions for the K20 Pro / Mi 9T Pro.
Indian
European
Russian
Everywhere else (you could call this the true global)
Of the 4 global versions of MIUI only the Indian version does not have NFC, as only the Indian phone is missing NFC hardware.

Im having a similar problem with every custom rom which is not miui with nfc. I have a similar nfc card to pay for public transport, with an app i can see how much cash it has and other functions. the problem is that when trying to scan the card on a custom rom, the app just crashes
the card is an ISO 14443-3A
nfc tools reads the card succesfully, and when on miui the public transport app works perfectly. the issue comes when running custom roms like havoc, pixel experience, evolution x . . .
i managed to obtain this info about the error

I'll get the obvious question out of the way first. Did you flash Indian firmware and vendor files before flashing custom ROMs?

You've flashed Chinese firmware and vendor. Try flashing firmware and vendor that is for your phone.
...QFKCNXM... From the name the CN in the middle shows it's Chinese.
If your phone is European you want this to be EU, if you phone is global you want this to be MI.

Im using Carga Sube
NFC Tools reads the card succesfully
Also. The app i use has an option to launch when the transport card is readed, that works perfectly. also when it opens it has some options. there it also works perfectly by telling me to select an option inside the app when i try to read the transport card (img2) . the issue is when im inside those options, there the app crashes img(3,4)

I'm having the exact same issue as you with Carga Sube, followed the same path (nfc tools is able to read the card, with MIUI works most of the time), but the app doesn't read the card (fc) with any custom ROM I tried. If you find a way, just let me know.
I also tried sending logs to app devs, but didn't hear anything back since then.
Thanks

MI 8 se no wifi in MIUI 10.2.3

Recently, I updated my MIUI 10.2.2 to 10.2.3. After the update there is no available network in the wifi list when I turn on wifi. So, I format reset the phone. The wifi works normal again after I reset it. Then when I installed google related apps(play store, play services, blah blah), the wifi does not work again. The wifi list is just empty. So, I reset the phone again and installed all the google apps. This time wifi works correctly even with the google apps installed. There is one problem though, I cant sign into google chrome(only chrome). But after about 4 days I was able to sign in into my chrome with cellular data but the wifi problem reoccured.I am confused and I desperately need help.

It is about official CHINA STABLE rom were you add google play applications?
Best solution to get rid of that kind of issue is to unlock the bootloader and flash EU stable rom or any custom you want. They all have embedded Google play apks.
May be you already have it unlocked by your seller. Just check if it is written at the boot screen.

Sorry, I don't want to be rude.
We all bought this good CHINESE phone and we all known ( non speaking chinese language people) that it was mandatory to switch the CHINESE rom version to a EU or Russian version more suitable to our daily needs and requests.
Why did you buy a XIAOMI phone not equipped with a GLOBAL international rom?
Anyway you can live with CHINESE rom, but one day or the second you'll get in trouble because it has to be modified or adapted to WESTERN standard.
That"s why EU rom or Russian are made for!
It is an error from China stable ROM . You need to turn on airplane mode and open WiFi . If you want to connect to new networks , first turn on airplane mode second WiFi then reboot

Android-Auto Not Working on MIUI 12 EU.

Android-auto stopped working on my Mi9 , after OTA upgrade to MIUI 12. (12.0.1.0 EU Stable)
Tryied the following with no luck:
Enabled USB Debugging
Cleared Cache and Data @ "Google App Services","Android Auto" , "Google"
Updated android auto to latest version.
USB cable change
Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Any recommendation on what could be going wrong?
I haven't tested android auto but I have noticed that eventhou I have Google arcore installed, I can't use view in 3d or Google playground
Android auto works fine here (Finland, MIUI 12 OTA upgrade).
I did hard reset the phone after upgrade (I thought something was broken, but turned out to be one single app incompatible with MIUI 12).
I have the same issue. Also did a hard reset and same issue occurred
Managed to get it working by performing "Clear all Data" from "Google Play Services".
But this is not a permanent fix. After a while, I need to redo the process to get Android Auto working again.
Could someone confirm the above?
Also, how would one report a bug to Xiaomi/MIUI ?
Managed to solve this by Downgrading "Google Play Services" to version: 20.24.14 (from 20.26.13)
Downgrade is not tge solution ?
Having a weird Android Auto issue on my Mi 11 Ultra running EU 12.5.4 Stable.
Wirelessly connected to my factory head unit in my 21' Chevy, almost everything works flawlessly. "OK Google" hot-word works, music, maps, text notifications - all good. The problem is that while I can talk to it, It won't ever hear me when I respond to it.
For Example, I can say "OK Google, text my wife" It will respond with "What's the message?", but then when I speak the message it doesn't hear anything and just keeps asking me to say the message.
Anybody else having this weird quirk? I've tried everything I know to try to fix it, permissions, uninstalling, unpairing - no luck so far.

Hi,
how did you get Android auto to work on MIUI 12 on the mi 11 ultra.
I have one of them running MIUI 12.5.4 running Android auto version 6.3.611324-release.
When I plug it into my Mitshubishi Outlander PHEV it show 3 buttons at the bottom saying use USB for "No Data Transfer, File Transferm Photo Transfers".
If I select the Android auto app on the phone, and purple background screen shows saying enable calendar and contact permissions an I press continue and app immediately closes. I have enabled all 23 permissions on the android auto app.
Not sure what to try next? Any ideas?
Thanks

Using the CN version, I couldnt find anywhere that sold a global 512gb version.
Have you got the 512GB version of the mi11 ultra. Does the EU version support 512GB?
Does the EU version already have google services installed?
Can you provide a link to how I change the firmware?

[GUIDE][venus|star|mars] How to install Xiaomi.eu ROM for Xiaomi MI11 / Pro / Ultra
I'm waiting for my unlock, but doing a bit of research. I think it should be fine, but wanted to ask, if anybody flashed weekly or stable over the CN 12.5 version on mi11 ultra. I'd like to stay on the weekly version, just don't want to brick the device. Anybody did this?

Unlock bootloader - takes 7 days, then fastboot EU version. Just follow the video in this link. Easy peasy.

None. Works exactly as the CN version did, except without a ton of bloatwear and language characters that I don't understand. Camera functionality the same, as far as I know, they change nothing from any of that stuff. Read through the post in that link I sent, it's full of information and feedback from tons of people who are using this rom
Almost convinced myself to try now. Really want to the use the AAwireless device.
With the 7 days, can I still use the phone in that time?

Question UK NHS covid app

Hi All
Has anyone got this working on the Mi 11 Ultra?
I've been playing with it for a while. You get part way through the introduction and get a generic error message saying it doesn't work:
"unfortunately this app is not working"
It would be nice if the eror message contained a permission request that had been denied so you could diagnose the issue, but no.
So far I've given it every permission I can see, but still the same problem.
I'm running Chinese ROM Stable 12.5.7
Thanks
Steve
I flashed Eu Rom weekly and it works with no problems. China Rom is just so problematic. I think it will always be unless Xiaomi decides to optimise it for people outside China.

The Chinese ROM doesn't have full GMS framework, so the covid and some other Google apps won't work fully. If you want them, flash the Global or EEA ROM but your best option to keep the best of all the ROMs is to flash the official Xiaomi EU ROM.

I thought the Eu ROM was the only "unofficial" one in the world
But this is the first xiaomi device I've ever owned or modified
Yes I mean Xioami EU rom. I believe it's based on the China ROM, but much improved. I installed a few of them on my old Note 10 Pro and they worked well.
After a battle with settings and Xiaomi's Mi Unlock, I've started the boot unlock process so Thursday next week I should be cooked.
The bit that got me was there are 2 settings you need to enable in Developer Options, namely:
USB Debugging
USB Debugging (SecuritySettings)
OEM Unlocking
Without these set, Mi Unlock displays nothing, yes nada.
First port of call after rooting and flashing for me will be checking out camera2 api. I'd like to use 3rd party camera apps with all lenses.
Then hopefully the NHS Covid app will work.
Cheers

You are in fastboot mode when starting your unlock? Also try a different cable if you were. Many issues with some usb cables not, for some reason, working fully.
Lucky you.... Be glad it doesn't work.... Don't promote these Chinese surveillance apps...
On the snooping side, the firts app I load on a new phone is no root firewall:
NoRoot Firewall - Apps on Google Play
Firewall WITHOUT ROOT. Host name name filtering, fine-grained access control.
play.google.com
By default, it blocks everything so you have to check it and manually enable apps to pass through it, keeping in mind, some apps might not work at first.
If an app is trying to contact a server in China via a secure port (443) it's blocked. I recently bought a Chinese printer and the driver wanted location data and tried SSL to China so that was blocked lol.
Well after much jiggery pokery I now have the weekly EU ROM installed and the UK Covid app is working fine.
On the China ROM.....
==============
You get to a point in the setup and get some generic error message saying it might be a work phone.
On the EU ROM
===========
At the same point as above, it asks you for permissions and exposure notifications. You grant them and it carries on and works fine.
I emailed the developers about the issue and with XDA users help, have provided more info ie that it doen't work on China ROM.
Cheers

The UK covid app uses Google framework services. The Chinese stock ROM does not have Google (I think I'm right in saying that it's still band from mobiles) , the mini version is non standard and an unofficial add on. The same applies to location history, this does not work on the mini GM's that's added when the phone is exported.
The Xiaomi global and EEA versions have it built in as stock as they are for export markets.
I hope you have some luck but I doubt Google services will be allowed on Chinese ROMs for a long time yet but at least the suppliers put something on us to get started with.
Hi interesting info thanks I love these forums

hi guys ,
At last i ordered my mi 11 pro from china , and i want to prepare my self to the steps ill have to take in order to replace the chinese rom to eu.rom + "twrp"+ Saftynet Passed + OTA Updates + Widevine Level 1 .
please help me understand if these are the neccessary steps ill have to take :

2. instal the "twrp"
3. flashing the eu.rom
am i right ?
thnx
Why do you want to root it? The EU ROM has widevine L1 and safetynet in the ROM, no need to root to get that. Root can be more of a pain to hide from banking and media DRM apps. Unless you really need to, don't.
Hiding root is super easy. EU rom is buggish I would not recommend it

No, not by far. Unless you are gaming or super critical than X app loads in 6ms against 5 in global, then don't worry. I've been using EU for ages not only on this phone. The Xiaomi dialler and SMS app is so much better for dual SIM phones. Look, if you don't like it, you can always go back. No 9ne 8s forcing anyone to stay EU.

But also, if this rom exists, is it compatible with android auto and voice control with google assistant.
or to keep all the options and possibilities of the phone, can I install a stock rom (my phone is locked to miu 12.5 version by my operator!) but for that I have to root and unlock the phone?
Sorry if the answer is in the foeum but I did not find in the various presentations of the roms or so I misread!
Thanks in advance for your
Isn't working NFC in ROMs pretty much the norm? Google Pay might be a bit stubborn to work in some due to SafetyNet/root complications, but should be possible to get it working most of the time.
Thank you for your answer.
I don't quite understand your first sentence, I'm not a good English speaker!!
Do you mean that now custom roms are all compatible with nfc and therefore the possibility of paying with it?
Whether with the application of his bank?
Because my bank is not compatible with Google pay!

Arrow os and pixel experience working for me, the only downside miui camera not there.
Best answer is try rom your self maybe work for me but not for you.
But if I unlock my phone, do I risk losing options like nfc permanently or can I go back?
I adhere to this request.
I tested AOSP Extended, Arrow OS, Evolution X, crDroid, in their android 11 and 12 respective versions, but in none of them I was able to make NFC work on this phone. Some of them have the NFC menu on the configuration menu and some not, but the result is always the same: I get "NFC failed" error or similar when an app needs to access the NFC device.
Before unlocking the device and installing custom ROMs, I did install the latest update of MIUI, based on android 12 (less than a month ago) to make sure I have the latest firmware installed, though I don't seem to find a way to check the current FW version without MIUI installed.
Also, I did check that NFC was working (on MIUI) before installing any custom ROM, so I know for certain it's not a hardware problem.
If I find a solution to this issue, I'll post here. Let me know if you find anything.

GH

Hmm, that is very unfortunate.
Since the Note 10 Pro has been out for a while, I guess that means there is nothing to be done about it?
Edit: However, statements by others seem to imply that NFC should be working, so maybe there is something your missing?

You should test it yourself it depends on your nfc app.
I'm currently on Sakura project and everything work there including nfc.

Nobe with this device, although some companies like Apple and Samsung do that.
Thank you for your answers.
My xiaomi is a global.
It seems to me to risk doing these manipulations to then lose the nfc and no longer be able to go back!
Hello, I also have the global Note 10 Pro, I am currently testing different ROMs but none of them show up or I can enable NFC, which is strange since I have seen reviews on YT where they can, I can only use NFC when I install any version from MIUI, I wanted to know if you know any news on this topic

Did you've clean flashed with firmware and then the ROM? I guess no....

I have been testing various roms (crDroid, PixelOS, projectElixir, evolution-X, ...) before using now, since more than a month, lineageOS 20 as daily driver.
I never met the problem you are mentioning.
I would also suggest, as someone else has just done, that you make a clean installation.

I have investigated on the subject and apparently my model "M2101K6R" has problems with the roms, but the only one that works for me is Lineage OS, and the strangest thing is that this rom automatically changes my device to "M2101K6G" and that's why NFC works for me in that rom
