Alright I'm moving from pixel 2 to mi 9 so very new to Xiaomi thingy.
My mi9 has global rom.
Do I need to install Eu rom first to install the custom rom as I read briefly most custom rom have Eu rom as their base?
No you dont
I unlocked the bootloader on a global rom and flashed pixel experience
I have the new Mi 9T Pro with EEA Rom. I look on most sites but dont find a fastboot image. K20 Pro fastboot rom is not the same and different.

We're still waiting for any official Mi 9T Pro ROM to be made available.
Can you guys clarify what types of ROMs exist for xiaomi devices?
is EEA ROM what you can get from xiaomi.eu?
Is the Global ROM the same as EEA ROM?

Official ROMs are Chinese, Indian, European, Russian and global
EEA ROM is another name for the official European ROM. (EEA is short for European Economic Area).
From what's been reported, there does not appear to be any noticeable difference between the global and EEA ROM. Best guess is that the only differences are GPS optimisations and different advertisement delivery.
You can find official ROMs here for all the above regions https://xiaomifirmware.com/downloads/miflashpro/
Normally people refer to xiaomi.eu ROMs as just EU ROMs, but that's gotten confusing since the launch of the European model, with its own official ROM. xiaomi.eu ROMs are custom ROMs made by an independent team. They take official Chinese ROMs and remove all ads and bloat, add a large number of languages, and throw in some customisations, tweaks and enhancements.
I wanted to buy K20 Pro 8/256 version since they didn't release it here in Europe. But i have some question regarding ROM. I wanted to buy it on aliexpress for example here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33025436528.html there are versions with Chinese rom and Global rom, so what i want to ask:
1. If i understand correctly it's a chinese market version with installed Global (indian) rom, is that right?
2. Does this Indian Global rom receive OTA updates?
3. From what I've read there is chinese ROM for this phone (english+chinese), Indian one and Global/EU one (? see next question)
4. But these are also 2 versions of the phone itself, Chinese and Indian? Or did I hear wrong? I heard its better to buy Indian one, but where can I find it?
5. Is it possible to install Mi 9T Pro Global EU rom on this phone? Is it even out yet?
6. I know that the bootloader will be unlocked, so the only way to relock it is to install Chinese rom, am i right? (I mean i heard that banking apps don't like unlocked phones)
7. I heard about Xiaomi.eu but I'm not really a fan of fan-made roms. I mean most of my past phones were working on stock roms since i didn't really feel the need to change it. But if there might be some problems with Indian ROM, maybe is it worth to check it out?
Thanks in advance

The Indian version is missing NFC hardware. The Chinese model also has a couple more LTE bands unlocked, but none that you'll care about in Europe. So as far as hardware is concerned, the Chinese model is better. It is the Indian ROM that is better, but it does have the NFC chip software disabled, so you'll lose NFC functionality with the Indian ROM on a Chinese phone.
Originally, the Chinese phones sold with a global ROM had fake global ROMs installed. Once the Indian variant was released they started to install the official Indian ROM. Now that the official EEA ROM is available, some sellers may start to install that instead of the Indian ROM. In theory, if they are installing untouched official ROMs, then they should have OTA working.
Yes the Mi 9T Pro ROM is now available.
Yes you will hard brick the phone if you try to lock the bootloader with an official ROM that is not the same region as the phone.
You should be able to overcome issues with banking apps, etc. by flashing Magisk and installing appropriate Magisk modules.
Xiaomi.eu is a little bit more than a fan made ROM. It is a community developed ROM, but it has been going almost as long as MIUI itself. They have worked in collaboration with Xiaomi through the years, helping Xiaomi to globalise some of their apps, with Xiaomi reciprocating by helping occasionally with the Xiaomi.eu ROMs. The ROMs themselves take official Chinese MIUI source code as its base, the team then add many languages to make it global, remove all bloatware and adware and as much unneeded, Chinese centric MIUI apps as possible, then add some of there own customisation and tweaks.
As many of you are aware, it is apparently necessary to flash custom roms over Chinese MIUI rom.
1) Is it safe to flash Chinese rom on a Europe/Global mi 9t pro rom?
2) Has anyone done this and then flashed a custom rom?

It's not necessary. I'm on latest eea firmware and the roms working great! I already tried some roms and never run into issues because of eea firmware.
Hi all,
First Xiaomi phone should be arriving in a few days, currently on a OP6T.
Looking to flash a new ROM being from the UK and need to run mobile banking apps and google pay. Also wanting to debloat the apps associated with the CN version.
I understand I need to unlock the bootloader on the device - that's fine I'll do that ASAP.
My query is... Which ROM is currently considered the most stable and user friendly for UK users? I've seen there's the .eu version based on the CN rom, the global ROM, EU and EEA roms?! Just a bit confused which one to go for. Not too fussed but would enjoy updates OTA.
Thanks in advance!
Hi dear.
You can flash latest global rom Fastboot ROM through Mi Flash Tool or flash xiaomi.eu (custom ROM)
Thanks for your reply. Is the global ROM best for UK? What's the difference between the global ROM, EEA ROM and xiaomi.eu ROM?
