Wiping phone and flashing with stock Pie? - Moto G6 Questions & Answers

My wife's phone has been so slow and laggy after upgrading to Pie. Is there an easy way to wipe the phone and install a fresh copy of Pie for this phone? Or can it go back to the stock Oreo too?

If you go back to Oreo you will loose your Wifi/mobile connection as long as you're on this version.
There is no need to flash a new firmware for a better performance. A factory/hard reset is enough.

Restored ROM and I can't uninstall apps.

I had to return my first moto under warranty and being lazy I made a complete backup through twrp. I restored this to the new phone and wiped cache and dalvik. Now everything works fine except when I try to uninstall any app it will soft reboot the phone. Has anyone encountered this?

You'll probably have to clean install your firmware.
Restoring Nandroids from one phone to another can cause many issues. Especially system partition. There can be phone specific info in there and putting it on a different device, even same model, can cause issues.
Its not what Nandroids are intended for. If your EFS partition had been restored from one device to another let's say, you could easily brick the new phone.

Restoring to a different device with Titanium Backup would have been a better solution. User apps only....NOT system apps.

If you did a nandroid backup of the new phone before you restored, then restore it.
That's what I get for being lazy. I can't restore the factory without it boot looping. So I guess I have to flash through rsd light.

Yup.
Use titanium in the future to backup user apps only. Transfer them to PC for safe keeping if you wish....and restore those.
Nandroids are best left as system images of your device, to restore totally if needed. To same device.

You can use fastboot to restore stock as well. Or RSD.

And mfastboot.

[Q] What is the safest, sure way to unlock the hotspot?

I have S-Off, but I flashed that Sprint_M8_Tether_Hack_V2.zip and all it did was make my Airplane Mode constantly and rapidly turn on and off and make com.android.phone constantly crash, essentially breaking the phone.
I'm doing the RUU now to get back to a usable state, but I would love to know how to go about unlocking the hotspot without breaking the phone.
This was pretty easy on my M7, but seems stupidly difficult on the M8. Hope I didn't pay for S-Off for nothing.
Also, flashing the above Hotspot file seems to add H/K to my settings, and my phone is not the H/K edition.
Flash a ROM that has native working thats safest surest way.

The only thing is I want to stay as stock as I can. Was hoping to be able to flash something that would unlock it or mod some file to allow it.
Try Captains BeyondStock it is the closest to stock you can find with some mods like this.

[Q] Mexican ROM update? Version 98.2.16.en.MX available

I just got notified on my phone that 98.2.16.en.MX is available to install. Its an upgrade from the current Mexican ROM I'm running. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it 4.4?!
Odds are its just the heartbleed bugfix.
ATT's version was 98.5.38.MB866.ATT.en.US
I'll check it out. I've upgraded phones now so I don't care if I lose root. Give me about a couple hours and I'll report back.

So I decided to upgrade the phone, not realizing it wouldn't work with my phone already being rooted. My phone failed to install the update, something about signature invalid. It then proceeded to continually boot up normally, wait 15 seconds, then reboot and try to install the update again. I couldn't get it to start up normally.
I finally was able to boot up into CWM recovery and wipe the /cache and dalvik partitions, which seemed to delete that update .zip file, wherever it was.
Anyways, i'm curious what this update is, but I don't want to brick my phone trying to update it. Is there a way to install this update if my phone's rooted? What about CWM's Signature Check feature, can I enable that, then install the .zip file (assuming I can find it) from within CWM?
Thanks

If your boot loader is unlocked, no issues at all... just clean flash stock via fastboot (including stock recovery) and try updating....
Well, I had my atrix hd without no use since I switched to the LG G2 so I gave it a shot.
I restored it to stock through fastboot, the updated appeared and its 18mb only. Downloaded installed and still 4.1.2
---------- Post added at 04:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:59 PM ----------
Another thing it didnt allowed me to return to the previous version trhpough RSD Lite, so be careful when updating.

Lol, now im stuck in fastboot since it failed to flash.

Well, I restored the phone manually through fastboot skipping some files and just flashing the important (system, boot, etc) and its working again.
If you want me to do more testings just le me know.

Can you provide a link to the original 4.12 mexican rom?

I can't flash custom ROMs to my AT&T nexus 6??

I've tried multiple times to flash cyanogenmod 12 to my nexus, but it fails every time. I'm running with TWRP custom recovery, and have tried Flashify as well . I have also tried to do it using my Mac (hate rains down) but to no avail. Am I doing something wrong? Or does it have to do with it being carrier locked? Please help.

why would it have anything to do with it being carrier locked??? my guess is that you are doing something wrong. ok, you want to download the whole rom to your phone, and gapps. then boot into your recovery, where you want the wipe menu. chose advanced , then wipe your system and user data. dont wipe anything else, you do not want to wipe your storage. nownow, go back to the main menu, and chose to instal. now flash the rom, then the gapps, then reboot. and thats all.

Samsung Galaxy A6 + Need to reinstall OS

Hello guys,
last week my father's phone did a OS update and now it behaves crazy.
I mean, very very slow to boot, sometimes stuck on logo screen and I need to force reboot.
After booting, all apps the first time are loaded very slowly, and if they have been already opened once they are opened decently fast.
I already did Wipe cache partition and hard reset.
I kindly ask how can I reinstall the original OS using the computer and usb cable.
I did the same last year with another phone so so think I can do it if I have a short guide.
Thanks for help
Bye
