Previously on Android 9 when connected to bluetooth, in the car or bluetooth speakers, whenever a notification comes arrives it would come through both my phone and the device connected.
Ever since the Android 10 update the notifications don't come from the phone speaker anymore. It only comes through the speakers that bluetooth is connected to. As I mainly listen to the radio when driving, I'm now constantly missing notifications.
I've looked in settings but can't find anywhere to set it so that notifications always come through the phone speakers

i believe you can only change this setting while the bluetooth device is connected
So it's a bit late, but I found a work around on Android 11. I bet it would work on Android 10 too. Install Missed notification reminder from the app store. Set it up with the apps you want notifications from. Set the reminder interval to something small like .1s Set the repeat to 1. Under advanced settings uncheck 'check device audio profile'. The last part should route the notification over the alarm pathway resulting in notifications over both Bluetooth and the phone's local speaker.
It's not 100% perfect, but it is serviceable.

Thanks, this is a life saving solution! Works like a charm on Oneplus 9 Pro with Android 13.

Although my car shows my phone connected when I drive, while I am wearing the gear, any calls are routed through the gear.
I know it has to do with probably only one device can output the calls, but is there any way to go around this ?
Is there a quick way to disconnect the gear from the phone while in the car ? it's just that it's a lot of steps to get into the settings....
Was looking for something simpler and quicker.
Although it would be cool not to actually have it disconnected as I still like to see the notifications without pulling out the phone.
Anyone else with this issue ? Any suggestions...?
Only other thing I thought of is to find a software that would put me a toggle on the screen maybe ?
Thanks
No problems here. The phone call well get route through whatever device accepts the call

Same here.
Car has inbuilt blue tooth, if I accept via the car, it routes through the car.
I also have no problems. The interesting thing is, I can initiate a call on the gear, and it stays there for about one second, then transfers to the car speakers. Which is where I want it anyway.
I have the same issue on Tmobile S4 4.2, I believe the 4.3 update has different profiles that allow this. Right now I'm stuck to connecting to the Gear or a Headset, I have to choose between the two since they both connect as 'phone audio' under BT settings. Once 4.3 is release in 2018 (LOL) it should be resolved.
I have a similar problem...or worst
My camaro '12, uses 2 BT profiles. One for media audio and the other for phone audio, since the gear also connects to my GS4 using phone audio, my cámaro's infotainment screen frozes until I disconnect the GG to my GS4 or the cars phone audio to my GS4.
I can't even chance the damn A/C temp or speed when that happens. Hahaha

I have connected my LG G3 to the galaxy gear Samsung gear 1.
Everything is fine except that I cannot use both gear and bluetooth connection in my car, whereas, if I am using my Note 3 there is no problem in connecting both.
Wondering if there is a solution so that I can connect both bluetooth and gear to my 3G in my car
I have the same issues. I have a lg g3, galaxy gear 1, and bt headset. If the gear is connected, calls go to gear and not the headset.
When I had my galaxy s5 all was fine.
Anyone have ideas?

Something else I noticed, it may only happen to others with a lg g3, but if the watch is on and paired, the headphone jack doesn't work.

I don't have a g3 (yet) to test but I think using SQL lite editor and modifying settings.db under the settings app, you can adjust bluetooth priorities. By default priorities are all set to 100. I think if you changed the gear's priority to 99, it may work.

That may be over my head to an extent.
If it was laid out I could do that. But I've never used sql. I just tried and failed pretty bad.

Ok, I'll try to break it down. Hopefully, it works:
1) Get SQLite editor (sounds like you already have it)
2) Scroll down to "Settings Storage" and then select "settings.db"
3) Select global
4) find the entry "bluetooth_headset_priority_<MAC address of Gear>" and select it
5) Click menu > edit record
6) Change the priority from 100 to 99 and save
Hopefully, it helps. Let us know.

Not sure. I would try setting both the gear and your headset to a positive integer and make sure the headset is set higher and see what happens. Not sure if this will work or not but it can't hurt to try.
Try todo rename tour bt headset oer car device the bt device must be on the top and gala y gear under them

I've setup Trigger profiles to do exactly this back when I was on 4.1.2 since multiple devices can't be connected at the same time on that version. From Android 4.3+, multiple BT devices can be connected at the same time and I thought it was at the OS level where the system would use whichever devices answers the call...... I guess it is a function of the Samsung dialer after all.
Just got the watch and apart from the belt I really like it. The one thing that I can't get it to do is to show notification when someone is calling my phone... it simply doesn't do anything. Everything else works perfectly (gmail, whatsapp notifications etc). No custom image or anything - just updated OTA after I powered it on. I don't know if call notifications worked before.
Any clues?
Thanks.

Under the bluetooth settings in the watch have you enabled 'play phone audio on watch'?
I only have the options to rename or unpair under LG 7993.

You may have to disable numbersync or the 'watch shares number with phone' option in order for the 'play audio on watch' option to appear in the bluetooth settings. On my watch it's under settings> cellular> advanced>'watch shares number with phone '. If I turn this off, then I see the audio option in the bluetooth settings. There was a thread about this in the AC forums. Maybe it will help..... http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=664344
Both call and text are off in watch shares number with phone. But this setting in bluetooth would not make all audio from the phone go through the watch just like a bluetooth headset? Doesn't sound good - forget the pun

It doesn't make every sound go through the watch but it does need to be enabled for calls to ring through the watch. No luck with the option appearing? No way to disable numbering? (If it's enabled) The linked thread didn't help?
This is the way mine looks.....
Hah! Found it under settings - bluetooth. I was looking under cellular.
Thank you!

Hello,
I was searching for this options also, with setups in this thread - now my watch see when somebody is calling, but when I answer it sound is directed to the watch... also it disconnects my other bluetooth headphone device... any other way so that LG will notify about call connection and just that?
Thanks for reply...
When I enable 'play phone audio on watch' my car bluetooth is not able to connect to the phone and bluetooth in-ear handsfree has the same problem. Looking at the BT icon on the phone it seems that the watch is acting as a hands-free and the phone does not allow to connect more of them. But the choice between having call notification on the watch and having car handsfree working is a hard one. Anyway able to have both of them simultaneously?

If you place a SIM card in the watch, then it is possible. Of course, the SIM card in the watch must have the same number as the one in your phone. Please note that not a provider offer this so-called MultiSIM option.
Thank you for the explanation. Is 'play phone audio on watch' working the same on Wear 1.5? I'm using AW2.0 and I haven't tried it on original firmware before upgrade.
Small update: on AW2.0 DP4 call notification works even without setting 'play phone audio on watch', active BT connection is enough. So it works and does not collide with hands-free.
Its pity that there is no way to pair AW 2.0 preview watch with iPhone
I've been posting regularly in Google Android Auto forums, but nothing has been happening. I thought maybe someone here would be of more help.
I use Android Auto (just updated again today, version 4.2.591444-release) on my OnePlus 5 (Android 9, OxygenOS Beta 30) with a Bluetooth FM Transmitter in my car. Same setup as I've had for a while (apart from updates to the OS or the app, of course.)
There are three issues here.
1. The hotword doesn't trigger anything to happen. Sometimes it does right after an uninstall/reinstall, but once and only once and only if it's not connected to my FM transmitter via Bluetooth. I have tried uninstall/reinstall, deleting and retraining my voice model, giving AA every permission it asks for. The hotwords trigger with no problem when it's not in AA mode.
2. AA auto triggers Do Not Disturb mode. This means it doesn't give any audible notification for phone calls/texts/hangouts/weather alerts/job notifications. Doesn't matter what the app is, it doesn't trigger. I only know I'm getting a call if I happen to look at my phone. I can go in and manually turn off DND mode, but I have to touch "turn off" twice every time for it to work.
3. It's set to autolaunch when it connects to my FM transmitter. It often doesn't. It pairs to my transmitter with no problem, but doesn't launch. The AA icon is in my notification shade, but when I pull it down, it's saying that it's launching with the little progress bar. I have to actually launch it myself.
All of these issues are new within the last few months. Before all of this, I'd jump in to take kids to school, my phone would autoconnect to my transmitter, and the kids would proceed to ask Google to play their favorite songs. Awesome. Sometimes I'd get a notification that a job was available (I'm a substitute teacher) and I could accept it. Now...none of this happens.
Any thoughts you all have? I've not seen threads here describing this issue, but in Google's forums, it seems to be happening both with head units and the app, no matter what kind of phone/auto combo it is.
I have the same issues (2 & 3) and I'm pissed
I finally managed to get Bixby Routines reinstalled on my phone (it was in the Galaxy store and I somehow either missed it every single time I looked, or they just added it). I am using it to send Spotify to my various bluetooth devices while all my notifications play on the phone. I have it set up with 3 devices - an Anker Soundcore, a pair of SkullCandy Ink'd Wireless earbuds, and my 2015 VW Golf. I'm running into some weird issues, though. Note that all 3 routines are set up the same way - IF BT is connected to X, THEN App: Spotify / Audio Device: Bluetooth
1. Whenever Separate App Sound is initiated, either on the previously connected device or a different device, it throws up the "Change main audio output device?" notification, meaning every time I connect to BT, I have to do that. If that's the case, why bother with the routine and not just toggle the SAS with each device manually since I need to interact anyway? When I do toggle it manually and hit OK on the notification, it works flawlessly, sending Spotify to BT and everything else (IG, Messages, YouTube, etc.) through the phone's speakers.
2. With the way the Golf head unit connects to BT, it kind of connects, then disconnects, then connects again, making the phone get weird mixed messages which triggers the routine in a weird way. Is there a way to delay the BT connection on the phone until the head unit is fully booted up?
The only thing I can figure is that maybe I'm not technically following the "make sure you choose an audio device that is different from your main audio output device." rule since when I'm connected to BT, that's the main audio output.
Hi,
I have VW Passat with AA (MIB3 based system). Android Auto works in general, but there is a problem with applications like ReplaIO, Spotify and sometimes even TuneIn.
Those start to stream audio "into nowhere". The sound volume control does not work then either from the panel or from the steering wheel. What I do to enable sound?
I need to run ANY Google based app, like Youtube or Youtube Music/Google Play Music, then stop it and switch to another app. Then it plays correctly, with sound.
Anyone got same behaviour in the car? What is the reason? Any workaround? This is not happening when same phone plays via Bluetooth, there is always the sound.
Only via AA connection, there is a problem. Later, after my manual workaround as above, switching the sources (FM/DAB/BT/AA) works correctly.
But if I disconnect the USB cable and connect it again... no sound from AA
Please help.
As far as I know, this is an ongoing bug. To reenable audio when the bug occurs you can simply dial to some phone number (best and easiest is if you call a number with an automatic answering machine), wait for the answer and then disconnect the call. Immediately you will get the sound back. In my car, when it happens, there is no sound at all, in any app, the only way is dialing.

Similar problem: support.google.com/androidauto/thread/66269926?hl=en - add http
Well, for sure the problem exists, but it seems we need to live with that. No fix until now from Google. I wonder if this is related to Android 10, have anyone tried that with earlier versions?
In my case (just tested), the phone call does not fix that. The only way for me is to play some song from Youtube Music, pause that and switch to Spotify, for example. Then it plays normally.
I suspect this bug is related to sound focus/sound routing/mixer.
This bug is related to AA only and it is happening in Android 9 also, maybe not everyday, but from time to time. I have a Note 10+ with Android 9 and a Peugeot 3008. In my case, the trigger is, almost always, the lack of internet connection in my underground parking. If the phone is connected to my car's display through AA, and if I try to play internet music (spotify or other internet radio app) before I get out from the parking and before my phone gets connected to the internet, then the music app gets stucked and the sound from any app disappears. Only making a phone call and waiting for somebody to respond or restarting the phone does help.
