I would trust offical more than a database that can be edited by anyone or some random guy. Even the specs on gsmarena isn't always up-to-date. Probably just made by some intern copy and pasting, especially for an niche phone.

Buy genuine Global Version

Hi, How can I tell if a Mi8 advertised as Global is genuine Global? Any trustworthy sellers to recommend?

Yep can confirm the box must contain a red (Global Version marking)
i noticed my box is in chinese. but i had a global rom. so this is not a genuine global device ?
what is the downside of this ?

You most likey have a genuine device, but it's a Chinese handset with the global rom on it.
Only downside is you will NOT be able to relock the bootloader. It must stay unlocked. This might mean your Google pay won't work. Some apps will also not install cause of this (but you work around this by installing apk direct instead of through Google store). For most people, you won't even notice. You can still update through OTA without issues and will continue to get updates.
I bought mine in Hong Kong from an established high street retail chain, being sold to locals for use in HK (which is an international market, and so would use Google). English language box, no red stickers, Global rom. And Google pay works fine, so I assume it is a Global model. There is a model number on the box: M1803E1A but they seem to use that for both global and China versions. As far as I can tell it’s not possible to see from the box alone whether the version you have is Global or a Chinese version flashed with a Global rom. I think you’re very reliant on the retailer having sourced it properly and not grey importing it from China.
Chaina version always runs Global Rom with ulocked bootloader. if you run Global Rom on your Mi8, and your bootloader is locked, then you probably have a real Global version of Mi8.
i have a chinese handset with global rom and unlocket bootloader.just came a miui 10 update can i do it without any problems??

Global Version 8gb? or get chinese 8gb?

Im a poco user and after all the problems i think ill upgrade to mi9 sometime (and not the k20pro when its out because it will probably have same cut corners as poco).
I dont see the global version available with 8gb ram? only chinese.
anyway im planing to flash custom rom (i use crdroid, havok, evox on poco) and so far PE is advancing well but xiaomi.eu is best for now on mi9.
If i get a chinese version is there any difference when flashing apart from of I need to do fastboot flash then I choose chinese rom?
After I instal twrp and wipe everything is the china phone basically the same as a wiped global one?(both work fully on the bands in my country).
If your wondering what poco problems?? heres my famous thread where Alvin tse from poco answered

great thanks man, if the 6gb version is available in global why get chinese? is 8gb ram worth it?
I have the 6GB version and I should say it's enough for me. I have a lot of apps installed and they run in the background and so far it is still smooth. Unless you're planning to play heavy games and doing video rendering and chrome at the same time I suggest 6GB is enough.

oo well thats a good answer lol
I just got the 8gb 256 and everything seems to be the same.
Also this version has the radio bands I need for my country which are B2 b4 and b5 so in my case any mi 9 would work.
And talking about ROMs well I will need to unlock the boot loader which will take 7 days but as far as I know you can actually flash global ROM no problem but of course you can't relock bootloader while you are on it.
That's what I will do.
Hope my answer helps you

thanks! i asked on aliexpress and so far only one seller responded saying the only way i can get a sealed box is to buy the global version. If i buy an open CN version with bootloader unlocked who knows if it's still bound to an account or not?
also is it even worth it for 8gb instead of 6? CN versions bands work here in israel.

verifying your xiaomi mi 9

recently, i bought my mi 9 pre-owned. the former owner says that he bought this mi 9 in china (so it has the china rom in it with alot of bloatwares). so as the title says it, i want to verify whether the mi 9 i bought is original or fake.
i did this by getting my imei by dialing *#06# then putting it in xiaomi's verify website https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei
it then gave me this result
"Thank you for choosing Xiaomi!
However, the device you purchased is not an official global version and user experience may be affected. Next time, please purchase the official global version of the device through officially authorized channels."
i have attached a picture of this.
i just want to know if my phone is legit or not because it gives mix signals
since xiaomi recognizes the imei but gives a message saying that please purchase through officially authorized channels.
thank you.
I got this :
So I think yours might not be But I'm not familiar with this tool.
What does the Product Authentification (second Tab) give you ?

maybe because mine is the china version, that is why it is not recognized.
i hope there are more people that try this
You may have the Chinese version so if you try it with a verification that is for the global version you will probably get this error. Have a look at the url and you will see ..../global/... in it.

Hi,
I test my phone, bought in a official xiaomi store in Shanghai, when I was there in April and it gave the same answer that yours:
小米9 全网通版 8GB内存 全息幻彩蓝 128GB
Thank you for choosing Xiaomi!
However, the device you purchased is not an official global version and user experience may be affected. Next time, please purchase the official global version of the device through officially authorized channels.
I think it check that your IP isn´t in China (I´m in Brazil) and then give this alert.

To me it seems as if the answer is right. You do not have the global version and since you are tring to verify a GLOBAL version of the Mi9 and you have the Chinese version this is the aswer you are bound to get.

Where to buy this phone

Hello, i am wondering where to buy this phone, because in the official redmagic website costs 479 but i found one on tradingshenzen for 417.
The only "but" is that the one on tradingshenzhen is the chinese phone with a global rom, while the other one is officially for Europe.
Is the European rom different from global rom? I don't know if i should take it for less being chinese or just grab it from their website.
Thanks in advance!

How do you differentiate the Chinese ROM and Global ROM (NA/EU)?
I ordered one from their website when it first launched and I am located at SEA, specifically Singapore. My red magic 3 build number is NX629J_ENCommon_V2.10
So tell me, how do you know which NA/EU unit that I have based on that build number ?
Thank you

General OPPO Find X3 Pro Stock ROMs

Some stock ROMs have been posted by oppo as part of their rollback guide from android 12 beta.
You can find both the andriod 12 beta OTA updates and full colorOS 11 ROM at https://developers.oppomobile.com/wiki/doc/index#id=91
ROMs are available for these versions:
Find X3 Pro (CPH2173) Taiwan
Find X3 Pro (CPH2173) Australia
Find X3 Pro (CPH2173) Singapore
Find X3 Pro (CPH2173) New Zealand
Find X3 Pro (CPH2173) Switzerland
Does this mean that someone owning a Chinese version can now replace that by a Swiss version?
Bit strange that they are not 'meant' for members of the EU.... Something to do with the more stringent privacy laws there?
What is the difference between these roms? Does it mean we have different hardwares in so called global versions cph2173?
I noticed that my OTA to A17 had 300 MB (phone from Thailand) but for others from France and Spain it was only around 160 MB.
In addition i have dialer/contacts/messaging app from Oppo + AppMarket (ofc Google Play and google services as well) + Theme store...They have google dialer and messaging app, no AppMarket and no Theme Store.
How to install an Ota from Switzerland on a Italian version? It says verification failed
It is anyway a Global version?
For some stupid reason i need to test this because OPPO did not activated 5G in Finland (completely common bands). Madness! In the A.12 firmware 5G was working and then stopped working! I tried the 3 major operators.

It is significant difference. E.g. Aussie model is single SIM physically. If you want to use eSIM you have to be certified by Telstra, Optus, Vodafone etc.

People say that the Chinese version does not accept any Rom because the partition Oppo made for the Chinese Rom is smaller than the other Roms.
