GA routines dont work when Android Auto is running - Android Auto General

I have some Google Assistant routines on my phone that work just fine but when I start up Android Auto I get "Routine aren't currently supported on this device." If I turn off Android Auto the routines work again.
Are there any answers to this problem?
Thanks.

Yes, but it's not an answer you want to hear. Routines have been non-working for some time now, and so far there is no mention of when they are coming back to work with AA.

Android Auto not updating location

Hi,
I've tried Android Auto (AA) in my car with the following problem:
Installed AA via apkmirror.com (Google does not oficially support AA in Czech Republic yet). I've tried packages for arm and arm64 architecture (same results).
Connected to car via USB.
AA started, displayed on my car's display, working.
Started Waze - my current location correctly set and displayed.
After starting driving my location didn't change at all.
Steps 4 - 5 are the same for Google Maps.
Both Google Maps and Waze are working correctly when run normally on my phone.
Car: Skoda Octavia 5E (2016), does offically support AA
Phone: Xiaomi Redmi 4X (Android 6.0.1, MIUI Global 8.5.2.0)
Please, what could be wrong?
Anything I could try to make the navigation work?
Thanks a lot for any advice.
I'm having the same problem as you do. The only one working in my AA is Google Maps. Waze not working correctly in AA. Stay still in one point for all the time and the navigation didn't work.
Haven't tried the waze on the phone yet.
Xiaomi Redmi 4X (Android 6.0.1, MIUI Global 8.5.2.0)
Zafira MY 2017 + intellilink 4.0
Same here. But I've noticed one thing. The same version of Android Auto and Waze works on my old Asus Zenfone 2. I upgraded to Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 this week and everythinkg works fine except Waze. It starts up, I can set my destination, but my location on map is the last position from mobile mode. When I switch to AA mode it do not use GPS somehow (or its blocked).
I suspect this is caused by either bug in Xiaomi or its setup. So I started playing with power saving features (turning them off) and I'll see if it helps.
FIXED!!!
it seems like MIUI was causing the issue. In the Settings, there is battery saving setup which can disable access to GPS if screen is off. So I disabled all the stuff and Waze works as it should.

Thanks!
This I've tried as well. I've set Custom behavior for AA to "No restriction" but with no avail. Maybe another service? Didn't find any obviously named such as Location service or so...
I'll try disabling power saver at all to confirm your observation soon!
Fix confirmed
Great!
Disabling power saver completely solved the issue.
But, I wanted to have the power saver on. So I experimented a little and the (working) result is:
Under Battery & performance -> Manage apps battery usage -> Choose apps set no restriction to applications:
Android Auto
Waze
I also added Google Play services for Instant Apps and Google Services Framework (System apps tab) to this list but I'm not sure if this matters.
what version android?

I'm also running into this issue with only waze on AA. Waze works fine by itself, and GM works fine both. I was unable to find where I could set the battery restrictions. This is also a new problem for me as it was working (same car) but on an older phone. Issue appears to be on the new (samsung s8+) only. Submitted issue to waze, but if someone here has a solution before they get back to me, that would be great!
Thanks so much everyone I turned off battery save on my Galaxy S-8+ and all is working again.

Android Auto not working

I have an issue with Android Auto refusing to start. I always get an error: "Something went wrong: Google services doesn't seem to be working at the moment" and the app closes.
Stock, locked, global ROM pie.
Any idea on how to get it working? Thank you!
Problem solved. You need to disable dual apps.
In my case it does not work at all... I connect the phone, start android auto (and it starts on the phonefine, no problems) but nothing happens on the car side. I don't have dual apps enabled. Tried with USB debugging on, but still nothing. Running latest MIUI 10.2.1.0. Anyone can help? With my previous umidigi phone it worked (most times). It's like neither can see the other connected...

Android auto problems w galaxy fold

I have no idea what is going one w new look version and old versions of android auto. Either way, most commands or calling a contact, get driving directions or text someone are decli ed saying something like sorry, not sure how to do that or not know how to handle requests. Kinda frustrating and settings appear to be correct as I can see music apps, google maps etc.
Any suggestions or is it an issue somewhere else. Any other android phone and AA works fine w it whether new look version or old AA version.
Tia,

Same problems here, Android Auto is borked big time on my fold but is still OK on my Pixel 3a. Problems are:-
1) When connected to my vehicles head unit it often disconnects for no reason
2) When I get a stable connection, and ask it to "navigate to xxxx" by voice it responds that it cannot do this "while in driving mode".
3) If I ask it to make a call or send a sms it responds "sorry I cant make calls yet" or "sorry I cant send texts yet"
4) After AA has been opened (even outside the car), Google assistant will no longer make calls or send texts via voice commands. Disabling the Google app, clearing the cache doing a restart brings the assistant functionality back but only until I use AA again.
The whole thing is a complete mess and given it is intended to be used WHILE DRIVING it is a very dangerous distraction - Google/ Samsung need to get on top of this or I can see them getting sued because they killed someone.
UPDATE: Iwas running a beta of google play services, when I uninstalled that and went back to the general release version, everything seems to be working OK with Android Auto.

Android Auto - Android 10 and a non compatible country

Everything was perfect until i decided to upgrade to a device with Android 10. Android auto is preinstalled in that version and I can't install the apk (no reason though) in order to use android auto in my car.
I live in a country where android auto is not officially launched and by using the apk method in older versions, I could bypass the check. Now that has changed since it's preinstalled and it says that I live in a country where android auto doesn't support.
Is there any workaround for this ?
Thanks
The only thing I can tell is that I also live in a country where AA apk is not available in the Play store and I had to sideload it from Apkmirror. I am still on Android 9.
But, a friend of mine, which recently bought a Samsung S20 Ultra with Android 10, is able to use the built-in AA, besides the fact that officially AA is not available in our country.
You should know that, in Android 10, you won't find an icon for AA apk, because there isn't one. Due to the fact that AA is part of the operating system, it is not possible to start it manually, but it will be automatically activated when the phone is connected to the car's infotainment system, supporting AA. If you try to connect your phone wirelessly from the first time, it probably won't work. For the first connection and settings, you should use an USB cable.

Simple solution... use VPN and set it up to a country where AA is supported(mocked location)... or use apkmirror or Aurora store(aka free Google play, use XDA search for thread )
SOLVED
It was simpler than this, for whatever reason the usb cable only charged the device not giving a data connection and without having an option to change this. Tried 2-3 cables and one of them did the trick, everything was sorted out.

Question Smart Lock not working?

Hello everyone.
I've been using my s21 ultra for more than a month, and the Smart Lock feature hasn't really been working, whether it is trusted places, trusted devices etc..
I especially need it to keep the phone unlocked via Bluetooth trusted device when running android auto in my car (Skoda superb 2017).
To make things worse, since the latest may firmare update, not only the BT connections doesn't keep it unlocked, but each time I unlock the screen manually, android auto disconnects, which is driving me crazy.
Any idea why this is happening? Is there a high level of security in the Samsung galaxy devices I should unlock?
Thanks for any tip.
Any other settings you have ON?
Smart Lock works great with my FIt2 watch.
maybe you should turn off for android auto in settings- apps- special access- optimize battery usage or check keep open in task manager. I had a similar problem with mi band and after enabling both options it works normally
